Remote Desktop Mobile Configuration - Touch HD General

can anyone give me a step by step guide on how to configure the remote desktop? btw i am using windows 7

On the Phone in Remote desktop mobile :-
In the box Computer put your pc's IP address
In the box User put the pc's users registered name (not the computers name) ie the name you use when you log on to your pc guest user etc.
In the box password put in your pc login password
In the box Domain put the full computer name found under my computer properties.
On your pc under my computer properties - remote - tick allow remote access
You should be ok to go - make sure your phone has a data/internet setting enabled and is active.

Oh and don't forget to adjust your firewall settings to allow your HD access

thank you very much, it funny how you give the simplest instructions and it all works in one go and the rest are so complicated etc haha thanks man

ah there always has to be a problem, 1) i cant see the keyboard even witout full screen. 2) when i try to login i get an error "Logon failure: user account restriction. Possible reasons are blank passwords not allowed. Logon hour restrictions, or a policy restriction has been enforced" HELP!!

I had the keyboard problem too.
I use finger keyboard and in the display option of Remote Desktop I ticked "Fit to remote desktop" Be careful it allows you to tick the other box as well.
Also colours = High Color.
As to the other messages it must be a Windows 7 issue of more parameters having to be entered. Also I log off on my pc before I connect.
Hope this helps

newbie remote desktop user

hello everyone, im a newbie to remote desktop and want to setup my u1000 to conect to my workstaion via wifi and internet as well. i just recently upgraded my u1000s rom ap3.
i could realy use your help pros..
u guys can also direct me to some link to useful info on settngs..
or any other replacement for remote desktop..
im sorry if thess silly questions doesnt needed a thread...
but i desperatly need the settings, as buy u1000 was one of my main praioriities
pls do help me frnds...
thanx in advance..
im no pro but i have it working here!
First off,to use it over the internet you need to make some adjustments on the pc end unless you have a static ip.
got to somewhere like no-ip.com register and d/l the software so you have a way of naming your dynamic ip.
Then you need to ensure that the allow remote connections is enabled on the pc and that your routers ports are forwarded if they need to be(mine did).
Then you should be able to enter the name of your ip (from no-ip.com) and password to logn from the rdp program on your dopod!
It should be similar over wifi on a LAN but instead of the no-ip name you just enter the computer name and password.
Forgive my terrible explanation of the setup but i can never quite explain myself properly.
Their are loads of tutorials on the net for setting up rdp and other tunnelling software like vnc.
have you tried ... ??
Sorry if this doesn't answer your question. However, I wonder if this might help. Check out www.logmein.com. I use it to connect with my desktop and it's free. You can remote adjust the settings to 640x480 and it works well -- even at 800 x 600. It's free!! (you can pay to upgrade to different features, but I never have.)
You might also look at orb.com. I can't get the video streaming to work well at all, but you can (also) connect with files on your computer and download them to your athena. It's also free.
As far as vpn tunneling, I haven't had much luck getting it to work. There's a company called hotspotvpn. Their service is cheap and works great with a regular laptop. They advertise compatibility with windows mobile, but I could never get it to work. I'd love to know if anyone else was able to do vpn tunneling and how.
Hope this helps somehow.
1.) goto www.whatismyipaddress.com that will tell you what your ip address is
2.) if you have a router you need to find out (follow me) you desktop ip not the ip address that the website gave you but the ip address your router gives you.... (you can find this by going to start --> run --> type in cmd hit ok --> then type this in with no quotes "ipconfig /all" hit enter it should be somthing like 192.168.1.1XX or 192.168.0.1XX
3.) goto start menu right --> click on my computer --> click on properties --> click on the remote tab --> half way down click the box under remote desktop
4.) goto router and tell it to open port 3390 to your local ip found in part 2
5.) open rdp on pda and type in ip from part 1

help needed to set up Remote Desktop

can anybody tell me how to setup remote desktop from HTC to my PC (I am using Windows 7)
Step by step please guys
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iCs4GQma7IQ
With that guide I made it work, good luck.
I did exactly everything in this guide and even set a corresponding exception in the Windows firewall (also tried with Windows firewall off) - but the mobile remote desktop program always tells me there was an internal error... But what the heck could that be?
Dont bother the remote dt program is ****e, im currently using vnc which is a bit better, but rather lacking also.
Is it me or did that video not mention setting up your windows machine to allow connections.
Make sure remote desktop is enabled on your PC and make sure it is allowing connections from computers running any version of Remote desktop(2nd option) third option works between windows 7 machines but wouldn't allow my phone to connect.
Your error sounds like it is being caused by something on the phone end though so i dont know if that will help.
Those with remote desktop working can you get it to go landscape? Mine works fine except i can't get landscape mode. Also anyone know of a app that can send wake up requests to a machine? I have this on my laptop so i can wake my pc over the internet and then log in. Anything similar out there for win mobile?
allowing a connection through windows firewall alone is not helping, if you have other system securtiy programs that also has a firewall. or maybe your router has a firewall too. you should try and forward the right port (3389) in the software of your router.
I opened port 3389 on the router, I activated the correct remote desktop option on the PC (Vista), the IP is right (wrong IP adress throws a different error, so the program gets that far)...
I guess you have Windows 7 Home version
Have you tried using 16 bit high colour option? Mine said it couldn't connect when i turned it down to 256 colours.
Edit: Windows 7 x64 btw
OK on my windows7 x64 ive turned on remote desktop and set it to allow connections (2nd option) and i still cant connect, what do i type in user/pass on the hd2
-ive setup the portforwarding on my bethere box
-tryed both color modes on hd2
does it have to be over wifi or can it be over 3g?
Your user name and password for windows.
You MUST have a password set up on your windows account to be able to use remote desktop. If you don't have a password set up remote desktop and other network related access will not work. I.e using the phone to access shared windows folders.

ok ive added a password to my pc but still wont work, i think i tmay be something todo with this steps
2. Open a web browser, and type 192.168.1.1 to access your router. If you don't know the default username and password (usually admin/password), Google for it.
3. Enter port forwarding. Add a new entry using your local IP address, and the start/end port of 3389.

my router is a THOMSON TG585v7 and to log into it i need to type http://192.168.1.254 so i did and the only thing like port forwarding i can find is the Toolbox\Game & Application Sharing menu and in their i can type the ports but cant type the local IP address as their no where to add it, ive added a pic that might help you help me
If you are accessing the machine via your wifi(i.e your own network) you should be able to do it without any port forwarding.
So punch in your machines local IP and your username and password. That should work(make sure it is using your WiFi and not still connecting via 3G). If you wanted to be able to do it via 3G/wifi(external network) then you will need to get port forwarding working.
Edit: Port forwarding guide for you. I think this is roughly the same version of router you have just different branding.

so in the last part of the setup i need to manually define it as the local ip, still not working if that's what i should do
The last step is applying the forwarding to your PC. So you should be able to pick your PCs name in the drop down box.
Have you tried just doing it over your local wireless network(forget about port forwarding for a minute.) Enter the local IP(could also just try entering the name of the PC though im not sure if that works) of your PC as the computer then your user name and password.

Remote Desktop problem HD2/win7

Hello
i connected my HD2 to my PC using the steps shown in the tutorial vids
almost all the steps went good except for when i press connect the log on screen of my win7 appears with a message saying password or user name is incorrect
it is really strange i tried every possible option to avoid that , even i canceled my user name password request just hopping to make it work
but the error msg keeps appearing ..
please help
Hi newbe here. Im having the same brob with mine any Help Plz.
If i remember correctly, no password at all won't let you connect. (not checked that, just a memory)
Also, in win7, go start - control panel, system, advanced system settings, move to the remote tab, and look at the three options at the bottom. If it is set to 'allow connections running remote desktop with network level authentication(more secure) that is probably your problem. Change it to the middle option 'Allow connections from computers running any version of remote desktoip'

no i am not on domain pc ... i just have my administrator account username and password thats it
Can you connect from another PC? That would at least confirm or rule-out that it's a problem with RDP on the HD2. It may be something to do with Windows 7, because it works effortlessly on Windows XP.
I have used it HD2 to remote desktop on my dell M1210 running Win7U 64bit with no probs had to sort Kaspersky to let it throught but been fine after that.
Maybe it's your anti virus/firewall.
Incorrect password issue while RDP using HD2
Ok here is a possible solution to the problem for users with Windows 7 64bit Ultimate where HD2 throws Incorrect username password while trying Remote Desktop Connection
I have been trying the user name that i use while logging in.
However that does not work so
Type ‘System Information’ on run/search command on windows 7
You shall see the correct user name you need to use on the right hand panel.
Good Luck Have a good day
RainMan
premium vs. ultimate?
I spent a whole day trying to remote into my Windows 7 Premium from my HD2 - no luck
Do you know if the issue is the "Premium" edition? If it was ultimate it would be easier?
Thanks in advance
no, the premium and the ultimate should be the same.
2 of teh most common mistakes are
1 - you MUST be remoting into an account with a password. If your PC account hasn't got a password set, (or if it has a password but is set to auto log in) it wont work.
2 - IN the system properties - remote tab, in the lower half, three options, dont allow/allow from any/allow only with network level... blah blha.
If it isn't set to the middle option, 'allow connections from computers running any...' then it wont work.
(oh and of course if you are trying to remote in using your mobile data connection, you will need your external IP, not your target PC IP address ((assuming you have a router)) and the router will need to be configured for port forwarding( or set to allow for the PC opening a port using uPnP)

i am going nuts soon! ARGH!
when you choose to allow remote desktop connections, make sure you use the
"allow connections from computers running any version of remote desktop (less secure)" otherwise it wont connect.
Window xp only have 1 option to choose from .
Remote Desktop : Allow user to connect remotely to this computer.
First try to connect from other normal computer.
did you open wifi in hd2?
yes i enabled wifi .
@@ dr.sid. i only have 1 Pc.
if you guys are behind routers, make sure you have the right port forwarding set up and check the ip address of your comp from the router. Also, make sure you're connected to router via wifi on you phone

This is all out of memory, so I appologize if i'm wrong, but don't you need to also add port forwarding for port 80?
tried forwarded port 80 does not work too.
Tried it today, but it's not working for me either :/
I've gotten it to work before so I don't know what's going on...
I know that I use the correct ip and username + password
try this
Enter the domain name as the full computer name with no spaces as well as user name/ip (public or local).
In comm manager go to set up data connection and select adavanced tab.
under connections select 'select networks'.
Then select the edit tab on the my work network, followed by the proxy tab on the bottom. Then tick box ''this network connects to the internet''.
press ok and then try and connect. This works a treat on 3g. have not tried on wifi but i guess its the same.

[HOWTO] Control PC without bluetooth, data cable, 3G/GPRS, or a router.

First of all, I would like you all to bear with me since this is my first HOWTO in my entire life. I decided to make this one since the guides from this site are for Windows Mobile, and some do it in a different way. Also, since there aren't really that much info on the net about an Android VNC client.
There's Gmote and RemoteDroid, but they're not VNC clients, so you still have to "look" at your PC's monitor.
Onward!
1. Download and install any VNC server to your computer. There are a bunch, but for this example, I used TightVNC because it's free, and it has a Linux version (which is kinda old).
After installation, set your authentication password. Skip this if you've done it during installation.
2. Download android-vnc-viewer and install it to your phone. [http://code.google.com/p/android-vnc-viewer/]
3. Go to your phone's wireless settings and enable wireless tethering / portable hotspot. Try to set a password to prevent...you know.
4. Disconnect any wifi connection in your laptop/pc and connect to your phone's access point.
5. Start android-vnc-viewer. Fill in the stuff. What's important is you fill in the IP Address and the port correctly.
You can get your IP address by hovering your mouse at TightVNC's icon in the system tray or typing ipconfig in Window's command prompt. Linux users can get their IP address by typing "ifconfig -a" (i just use conky for this so im not sure xD)
And oh. the port by default is 5900. You can check at TightVNC's configuration page.
6. Skip the windows authentication username thing.
7. All other settings like the color format, configure to your liking.
8. Press connect!
I'll post screenshots tomorrow, and by screenshot I mean the pictures of the two connected.
For any questions and violent reactions, just reply And note: You can also do this by setting your laptop/pc as the access point. A program like connectify does the trick. Once the phone is connected to the laptop, skip to step 5.

No. Just tether with wifi. Think of your phone as a wireless router not connected to the internet. Once you've set up tethering on your phone, connect to your phone's tethered AP (default name is AndroidAP)
BUT,
If you just want a mouse alternative (not a remote desktop), i suggest you use Gmote.
