Official ROM update on HTC support - MISSING?? - HD2 Windows Mobile 6.5 ROM Development

Hi
Just visited HTC site to see if they have put the O2 branded ROM update up yet and the 1.48 ROM that was there yesterday seems to have gone?? Here's hoping they are re-uploading it to apply to ALL HD2s !

Hmmm I just checked and yeah it doesn't exist anymore... maybe they pulled it and because 1.61 is maybe coming out very soon?
Worldwide it does not appear if you go to the UK site it is still there.... silly me!!

I was just there, impatiently checking for a UK release of the 1.61 ROM, and the 1.48 is still there. It's dated 9/12/09, which we know is rubbish, but still there!

you mean thatt the 1.48rom is rubbish?

1.48 was total bogus afaik, and im thinking htc realized that too now, seeing how they without-a-doubt will know that roughlly half the hd2 users from this forum already run 1.61, since it DOESNT HAVE BROKEN CORE FUNCTIONALITYS, like one would expect from a hightech phone.
1.48 is Gone from htc site over here aswell, i srsly hope there will be a official worldwide 1.61 soon

No mate - the release date is rubbish. I think they should be a bit more careful about their release dates, as that's more like the date that it was "leaked", but not "officially" available on their site. (Lots of " when I talk about HTC "release" process )
Incidentally, it's still available in the UK. It doesn't make sense!

http://www.htc.com/europe/SupportDownload.aspx?p_id=297&cat=2&dl_id=804

They never removed it from the site... and it was never in the support list... On my side, I've got the official link from xda... Hopefully, some poeples here read the (boring) official announcments

I think they've removed it because it doesn't have a so much good overall performance/number of bugs/usability improvements.
Anyway, the 2.01 ROM is a whole new story.

BTW fellas......SDTuneup worked with my RA_10 read speed

I decided to try it on the 10 ROM.
And.............
My read speed a little more than doubled on the Sony SD and actually tripled on my crappy Patriot SD.
Figured some one else should confirm my results.
It didn't make ANY difference in my write speed for either card though.
That is good news, when the new UK ROM is officially released it the first tweak I am trying.
Does anyone know why the UK Rom is being delayed in release by SE ?

I was able to download the new UK ROM but it's the generic one, so I don't know whether this would possibly be a hold up from o2 perhaps? I take it that's the ROM you're after?
No news is good news eh, I hope there packin it full of special goodies for us UK o2 users....a super Rom...we can dream

Norti made a bit of a list in the new ROM thread in the ROM section of the x1 part of the board... however I have changed just recently and so far love it, its much smoother and faster from the box than 08...
Thanks Shadowdh, I've just finished the upgrade tp R2AA010. Let's me try it then report if any new

SMS Hotfix Just Around The Corner!!!

Hello
Just to let everyone know I was on the phone to tech support yesterday and the rather informed lad I was speaking to was saying that SMS hotfix to sort out the bag lag and non sending issue will be released in 10 to 14 days. Also the 1.48 ROM is not on the HTC site because its not an official release or fix in any way he said.

10 - 14 days? Seriously? I was hoping that the thread title, 'just around the corner' would have led to an announcement of , Monday/ Tuesday of next week.
Shocking and very disappointed
... but very good to know that they have/are developing a solution for this issue as it tends to have hit alot of units (not mine...?).
Thanks!
around the corner?! they said the same thing for about a week or two.
Welcome news, even for those of us who haven't experienced the problem yet. 10-14 days sounds about right to me. Bug fixes for platforms like this have to be rock solid. Not like a patch for a pc game for example, where users are used to continually updating or rolling back versions.
This is good news, and I can wait. Let's face it - I don't have a choice.
I do think that 10-14 days is quite long though. Coming from a software background, that sounds reasonable, but we know that HTC don't actually test their software, so it should be about 4 days
Just kidding. I <3 HTC!!
very good news, but what so now if 1.48 isn't an official HTC Release, what the **** do i have on my leo right now Oo xD

Don't you guys think that HTC "leaks" those ROMs on purpose? They just collect bug-reports here on xda.

It's never been officialy released by HTC. It was "leaked".
I just wanted to download the camera fix from htc.co.uk, and recognized a very interesting sentence: "This update is only applicable to ROM version is equal to 1.60.XXX.X, or lower"
So, shall we expact that HTC is working on an official ROM, which includes the camera-fix and has a version-number > 1.60 ???

I thought 1.49 was the official release:
http://htcpedia.com/news/official-htc-hd2-rom-1_49.html
Is this a hotfix for the lagging messaging app (i.e. - when you go to type aa message and have to wait for about 5 seconds or so before tapping the screen works)?
Sounds good to me...
I am following the WMDev team on twitter and have asked questions about a possible upgrade path to win7...

South East Asia ? Is this a WWE ROM ?
First line reads... "Keeping in touch has always been very important, and this update delivers fast and reliable SMS messaging.".... Good luck to you all - hope it resolves your issues everyone.
( No doubt in 1 hours time someone will come online and say "My sms got stuck in the outbox again...." )
Anyone else got it in their region? I'm browsing regions, but SEA region seems to be the only one with it right now
not in UK yet...

I concur - just checked Europe and UK. We score "nil pwa", as they say in the Eurovision Song Contest. Apologies to non-Europeans, if you don't understand, google it!
Please tell me it fixed more than just the SMS issue...... i'm on the edge of this or a milestone and so far, the Milestone seems the less buggy!
oooohhhh!!! this could be the day ladies and gents ..still nothing on the UK site tho.
don't expect too much hahah If the previous SMS patches are of any indication, we might be disappointed.
The old 1.48 has been pulled from the danish HTC site... It might be a sign of better things to come
Edit: Now the 1.48 is up again.... Weird...
Does anyone know which version of WM it has, I would persume it would be a good time to go 6.5.3

It won't upgrade the OS. They'd certainly not wrap up the "6.6" release (as they're now referring to it) by saying it fixes some SMS problems.
Expect a fanfare and ticker-tape parade when they up the OS.
Thai ROM
There is now ROM version 1.66 available for thai region. If anyone here has a thai region phone, could you please download the new ROM and upload it to HCTpedia repository for official ROMs. I want to try this ROM, but it can only be downloaded using a serial number from a thai region phone, and I don't have that.

RUU_Leo_Vodafone_UK_1.66.405.2_Radio_Signed_15.30. 50.07U_2.06.51.07_Ship.exe

Expect this to be released soon...
About bloody time!! Not that I needed it as my HD2 wasn't on the VF but a LOT of VF users are waiting on this!!
yep.. its coming... the official stock 1.66 was approved by Voda recently so now they are customising.
Any info about bloody O2 upgrade?

Lol, tried to post this on the VF forum - mods are checking it so doubt it'll go up!!!
Awesome, as above about time.... Hopefully VF won't have put any customisations on to this ROM.
I got my phone on a vodafone contract (although the phone box says suitable for orange on it) and its got 1.66 ROM and the same radio as posted... so does this mean that the new phones (mines a few days old) are being shipped with it...?
you're is probably not on the VF ROM - it'll be an unlocked one...check by going to the HTC support site and put your serial number in. If it takes it it's not on a VF vendor ID

if they weren't going to they'd have released it by now
Some questions, firstly if they have customised it how have they managed to destroy it and secondly shall I stay HTC 1.66 WWE or go with Vodafone 1.66 WWE
I think I'll stay with the HTC one imagine flashing the VF version and ending up with the VF red/white stuff all over the place lol
I notice the ROM version is 405.2 where as WWE is 405.1 I wonder if they have maybe fixed some stuff as 1.66 WWE still has some issues (just had to battery pull as mine just locked up again)
Actually... going back to some correspondance i have had with Vodafone.... this ROM will most likely not be customised.
It is being released as a response to the overwhelming unhappiness of Vodafone customers on 1.43.
There is a fully customised ROM in the pipeline though.
seriously, whats the point in them adding things? I'm on VF and all their services run absolutely fine. I can't for the life of me see how they can improve on what HTC, or even the chefs on here, can create...

It is indeed unlocked as you surmise... I entered my serial number and the download started... woo hoo... unlocked is what I was after... nice...
For anyone on O2 that happens to be reading this, , if you got your device in the last few weeks there has been reports that the roms are not provider locked on the newer shipped devices.
For all networks, best way to check is put your serial in the HTC website, if it's accepted, you have a wwe HTC rom, if it's not, you have a wwe provider locked rom.

[ROM] Vodafone UK 1.72 - WTF wheres HTC's release then?

http://devicehelp.vodafone.co.uk/firmwaredevice.php?ModelID=424&e=0
Apparently it was released yesterday for Vodafone UK customers...
ROM:1.72.161.3
- Where's HTC's 1.72 release?
I was speaking to Voda 2nd line support about this a week and a bit ago.
Its basically the 1.66 rom with 2.08 radio bundled in. No changes to ROM as far as i know just new radio.
EDIT: oh yeah i forgot... its also supposed to fix the issue with downloading pictures that Vodafone HD2 customers might have experienced. As we all know every major network is now compressing images to make their 3G/HSPA networks faster. With Vodafone what is supposed to happen is you will see the compressed image when browsing but when you download that picture it is uncompressed.... this functionality waasnt working previously. This ROM is supposed to fix it.
Well the radio in it is the 2.07.51.22

lol... maybe the 2.08 radio didnt pass his test then.
The guy i was speaking to was the guy testing the ROM... i got talking to him just a few minutes before he recieved the ROM from HTC and the above is what he told me.
Ive just emailed him to confirm whether the picture downloading issue is resolved so when he replies i will ask him why the 2.08 radio isnt in there.

Is that something HTC changed on 1.66 to 1.72 codebase?
Or is it something that Vodafone have done...
Anyone with developer/chef skills able to take this apart and look at the software versions being used.
I'd like to know if its 1.66ROM with some "fixes" or whether its actually a 1.72ROM like the codebase a lot of the custom ROM that haven't gone 2.x are using...
It does appear to be based on the 1.72 ROM as most of the EXT packages in it are what I was using for my ROM which is based on 1.72 and it's using base 21869...looks like VF are ahead of the game!!

I have both HD2 and Desire (ok the Desire is the wifes but its on my contract so I am paying for it) and whilst the Desire has some very nice features I honestly prefer the HD2...
Right so anyway should I wait for the HTC 1.72 release (if it ever happens), or install the extracted NBH from this and then re-apply 2.09.51.03 Radio...

Yeah, a lot of people have flocked here instead!! There's a lot of copy/pasting from Mods still which is annoying, though...
It's all abuse about the Desire now though and the stock fiasco with that... (although the stock fiasco with the HD2 was a bigger mess)
