[SOLVED 17-12-2009]Possible to switch position of shortcuts, or delete and add again? - HD2 General

Hii guys,
I was wondering if it is possible to switch the possition of the shortcuts, or do you have to remove everything and add them back again?? I couldn't find it so quickly in any other thread.
Thanks in advance
The Solution is to be found in post 6 + instructions!! Thanks to Som03ne!!!
==================================================
Here is a small app to re-order the Sense shortcuts.
Its GUI is very simple using existing controls/components, since I did not have too much time to put in it - resulting not much gui control modifications, meaning - Up - means up in the list -> down in the display.
Or to put it short - Clicking UP moves the element down, and clicking DOWN moves the element up.
On exit - you can select either to apply the changes, or drop the changes.
For changes to take effect - you should Power Off and Power On the device
(Or any other way to cause Sense to Exit and Re-Load)
I tried it on my device and it works.
Any comments - post in this thread, and Id check for them every now and then.

You can do it with registry editor
HKLM\Software\HTC\Manila
There are keys marked with 0..9 (or 0..n)
each item is a shortcut on the home page.
Just change the numbers to the order you like.
If you want the 3rd element to be the first -
You should do the following:
rename "0" to "XXX"
rename "2" to "0"
rename "XXX" from the previous step to "2"
Enjoy.

OK thank you for the fast response, but is there no easier/faster way for this??
if not: then I'll do it with this

I have not found any

Maybe there is, but I tried to look for something easier,
and did not find anything.
(I believe it is possible to write a small app to do it,
but I dont know when I'd have the time to do it)

OK, well if you ever make something like that, send me a PM and I will post a link to your topic where you'll post the application, in my first post, so people who will search for this answer and come in this topic will find it.

Enjoy

This worked! Thanks. You just need to produce a Sense UI version. THis is especially useful if you have 16 links instead of the standard 9.
Wouldnt it be nice if you could reorder apps like on the iPhone? Not functionally necessary, but nice to look at nonetheless
Thanks again.

New Ideas for S2U2 Settings....

I would just like to start this thread to post some idea's I have that I think need to be included in a future release of the Settings app for S2U2.
1. Ability to choose any wallpaper on the device. (JPG/GIF) Not be just stuck to having to copy/paste into the GFX directory, as the filename of wallpaper.gif or wallpaper.jpg.
-FIXED: Use Slide2View posted here to change the wallpaper easily enough. I've known about the registry edit, but wanted a more streamlined solution. Guess this is it!
2. Have theme type files. Kinda like the tsk files for the today screen.
Few more I'll post later as I think of them.... Just post more ideas!!
theme
How bout if you can to themes like pocketcm does it and you can change themes like pocketcm.
lennysh ur suggestion works since forever, you have to edit the path in the resgistry. i dont remember where exactly, that way u can run the wallpapers from SD..

Hey lennysh, you should check out S2V (Slide2View) also by A_C. This is a cool picture viewer and one of the options is to make the currently viewed picture the wallpaper for S2U2!
I created a folder under My Pictures called Wallpapers. I put all my jpg and gifs (even animated gifs) in that folder. I can then browse those pics with S2V, and select one to be my wallpaper for S2U2. Very cool!
Hope that helps.
I think S2V should eventually be built into the S2U2 settings program.
An option I would like to see is password protected unlocking so that after you slide a dialpad shows up and you have to enter the password to unlock the phone.

there is an exclusion feature but it's accessed via a registry edit. go HKCU/software/A_C and there is a bunch of reg keys that start with "Exclusion1, Exclusion2, ....
Just add the name of the EXE that you want to exclude.
It would be nice if this was added to s2u2 settings via the gui but for now it works.
icon on screensaver?
First, Awesome app.
Now, when I launch S2U2 it works fantastic, but, there is a little icon that resembles a text document with a check on it and a number seven in a red circle just below it??? this is located just above the right corner of the unlock slide. Any thoughts?
just turn off task count in s2u2 settings
S2U2 and it's counter part S2V are both fabulous apps as far as single apps go. Yes S2U2 requires a regedit to use the directory of your choice unless you also install S2V..which begs the question...why?? I think they are both great apps but I am not sure I see the point of two separate apps when you need one to do something specific like choose the directory to use for pics.
So..what I would like to see is a merge of the two or make them two separate programs entirely. On that note, it would be nice to see a few of these great developers merge several of their apps into one nice compilation. There are obviously several "popular" apps that all perform entirely different functions. A compilation of these "popular" apps would make for a rather nice experience. And when I say compilation, I don't mean a .cab that includes these apps together, I mean one united program with all the functions streamlined and working together. Something like a mix of S2U2, Pictureflow, PocketCM and what ever all bundled seamlessly into ...say...a PointUI app or something along those lines.

it's somewhere in the s2u2 settings, set it to "off". otherwise, you may try to mark your "unread messages" in your inbox to "read messages", so the task count won't appear.. hope this helps.
thanks
I want S2U2 to be PointUI-ized.
It would be great if S2U2 could have an owner info on the start screen. Maybe an icon (similar to the weather icons) or as a small text below the slider.
Awesome apps, but the only problem faced by me in my iMate JAQ is changing the orientation of the setting screen. As directed I have changed to path clock to clockH, but it still doesn't work. Any help there?????????????
Slide2View is nice. I have both S2U2 0.98 and Slide2View in the same CAB file, with the additional clocks included. If anybody would like a copy, just let me know. I will also try and include some more stuff if I find some. It is set to use the HTC theme in S2U2.
Got it! Thanks for the info....I kinda hate to admit it but I did not know that the options was a scrollable page. After that I found it no problem. What a great app!!!
If not too much
s2u2 is a very great application.
if not too much..can he include a preview button in the next s2u2 setting? ok, maybe i'm too lazy too save and exit the setting before i can see the outcome of it. but it could be a nice add on in the next release.
thanks to A_C!
Hello Friends
One more time sorry for my english
My pourpose is the next one: When you close S2U2, it appears a window with message " S2U2 are closed", and a ok button to close it.
It's posible that the window disapear automatically after few seconds?.
Thanks.
The ability to either key in a simple pin or a strong alphanumeric password when you slide to unlock.
Invoking the WM6 one is messy/untidy.
Also create a Today plugin for S2U2 so you can invoke the lock directly off the Today screen.

Change your Default Calendar Version 0.01

I made it as simple as possible to change your prefered Calendar Manager, I use ThumbCal, which seems quite popular here. As downloaded, the script is setup for ThumbCal, but to change it all you have to do is edit the first 2 lines with a text editor.
Run the script and your Softkeys, links, and "Today Plugin" all call up Thumbcal, run again and it switches back to Office (Outlook) Mobile!
Does not support 3rd party software, for SPB Mobile Shell support see this thread.
MortScript is requied, download it here.
I hope you find this useful!
To use:
1. Download and unpack the ZIP file.
2. Edit the first 2 lines in the MSCR file, notepad works fine for this.
set AltCalendarName, "ThumbCal"
set AltCalendarPath, """\Program Files\ThumbApps\ThumbCal\ThumbCal.exe"""
3. Copy to your device, and make a shortcut.
4. Click the shortcut and answer the "Yes or No" question.
5. Repeat step 4 to swap between the two calendar managers!
NOTICE: I have seen this many of times, some softkey mapping software (most likely Spb Mobile Shell, this one does it the worst) hijacks the "calendar" softkey and redirects it to the "exe" instead of the "lnk". In any case this patch will still effect the Calendar Today Plug-in. You can remap your softkey with the mapping utility, how ever Spb Mobile Shell limits what you can select, so an additional one is recommended.
WOW..great thinking..
It has been asked abt Hundred of times to replace the Default Crappy Calender
Any screen shoot???
this is EXACTLY what i was looking for. thank you very much. if it doesn't take too much of your time and you can make one for changing the HTC Home Media Player to S2P instead of MP or HTC Audio Manager.. it would be fantastic.
THANK YOU
Just what I have been waiting for. There was nothing worse than having calendar items on the today screen, then pressing on them and it taking me to the default calendar, which I dont even use anymore. i had taken calendar off my today screen altogether. Now its back!!! thanks a bunch for this one.
Any news to get this feature on SPB mobile shell ?
change it easy guys.
as far as I know,I changed my calendar with the thumbcalc 0.51 simply with SK TOOLS.
There is a button change option. And many other offcours as well. But this is the easy way, without aknoledge of serious programming or programms..

Will be looking into that this week, looks complicated at the moment, but I think it will be possible.
is this not working for anyone else? :/
EDIT: NiteStalker, I checked my file paths, and everything is correct, when I press the .mscr file to toggle calendars, it tells me my default calendar has changed, but when I actually check my calendar "softkey" it has not changed.
Is there another script I could run to acheive the same effect?
UPDATE: I have also tried changing the File paths, and then changing the file location acoordingly with no result. I'm going to try to run it from the root, and see if it works.
UPDATE II: Launch off the root doesnt work, im going to check and see if the original Calendar is in the place referenced in the script for my device. (XV6900)

I run it from \Application Data\Mortscripts, but where its placed doesn't matter. When I run it my 'Softkey', 'Program Menu Link', and 'Today Screen Calendar Plug-in' all work. I'm using ThumbCal 0.51, but it shouldn't matter what app you run.
If the today plug-in works, but your softkey isn't, it's possible you have remapping software changing the default calendar link. If you have a softkey editor ensure it's pointed to the "calendar.lnk" in your start menu.
Also make sure you have 3 quotations (""") in front of and after the {set AltCalendarPath, """\Program Files\ThumbApps\ThumbCal\ThumbCal.exe"""}. If your missing even one, it will malfunction.
If none of this works, I don't know what to say, except that I run it on WM6.1, and my friend runs WM6.0, and it works on those.
I'm stumped, can anyone point me in the right direction?
EDIT: one sec. i posted at the same time as you. im reading.

How about a plot twist, I've never heard of either, and havent used any form of remapping software, should I just remap it to the correct place anyhow?
I may as well give it a shot.
UPDATE! I did it, when I looked at the mapping of the softkey it was going to "calendar.exe" instead of "calendar.lnk" so I just mapped it straight to touchCal for now, but now im curious and want to see if i can find the "calendar.lnk"

Calendar.lnk is in [\windows\startmenu\programs] usually, it can move around there. Remapping to that would allow you to successfully swap between the apps if needed.
ANYWAY I am glad we were able to solve your problem.

[SKIN] WAD2 - Blackberry Bold 2.0 QVGA

For those new to this theme, the whole purpose (besides making a theme to look like AT&T's Blackberry Bold) was to do a theme that required ZERO swiping. Everything is accessible through simple pressing. By doing this, I have made (for me anyway) the most practical UI I can dream up. Getting to what you might need is very fast.
Problems:
1. This theme was designed for how I personally use my phone and I am sharing it with you. I mention that because it will explain why, in my rush to get it out there, I forgot to remap buttons to the generic programs like contacts and texting. Also, the programs pages are still linked to the programs I use. I apologize for that.
2. The weather icon in Portrait mode that appears on the dock with your calendar doesn't always appear correctly. Not sure why. You can still press the area to get to the forecast page. Everything appears correctly there.
Installation:
1. Unzip the file. You will see three folders.
2. Bold and Bold P belong in your WAD2 themes folder on your device.
3. There is a folder called "Themes". This has all of the images, including alternate backgrounds and the weather icons you see in the pictures, and it belongs in the root directory of your storage card.
Instructions for Use:
Portrait:
1. Everything is pretty obvious. You should know that the Calendar icon opens a dock containing 1 day of appointments and a weather icon with current temperature. Pressing the appointment will open a Calendar page. Pressing the Weather Icon or the Temperature will open a Weather page.
2. The Wifi icon in the upper right corner will toggle your Wifi on/off. If your Wifi is on, green lights will appear underneath.
Landcsape:
1. There's room for more icons so the instructions for Portrait do not apply.
Enjoy. If you enjoy this theme, please feel free to donate to someone who doesn't rip off every icon, wallpaper, etc. from someone else.
Here's a few more pics.
Excellent
Great job. Thank You. I think I will give WAD2 another try.

hy,great theme there.
i'm a newbie and also working on a new theme my self.
but if you can help me,it seems i can't display an activesync status icon (using a full screen theme).
any suggestion?
That's something you might want to take up with Chris on the Lakeridge forum, since Active Sync is not one of your choices for a status icon.
On another note, I've been using this theme and it's previous incarnations for over a month. Would you believe tonight was the first time I needed to silence my phone? Needless to say, I couldn't through the theme and an update will be coming soon.
nevermind my bad

Go to Start Menu->Programs->Wisbar Advance Desktop->Author Menu. This will bring up the Author Menu on the main screen.
Click on Author Mode.
Now, press and hold on the icon you wish to change. A menu will pop up. Click on Properties.
Click on Edit Script.
Highlight Launch a Program, then press Edit.
Click on the ... button.
Choose the program you wish to use and hit Ok.
Press Done.

User interface yrgo 2.3 beta 5

Hi guys,
I have released new yrgo 2.3 beta 5 so you can check it out on my forum here.
If you are new in yrgo - yrgo is highly customizable User Interface Shell written for Windows Mobile 5/6 Professional devices. It allows much more that any other Shell and goes more deep into the system - the memory footprint is also held low.
I highly recommend to see the presentation video (the video was recorded with older version - doesn't have as nice graphic as it is there now and it has much less functionality, but it is good to understand yrgo's concept).
So let me know what do you think .
UPDATED: There's a bug in the version I linked to my forum - it has only Czech version. Please scroll down the thread there, download English.zip a follow the instructions in the post to get the English version working. Sorry for that.
Regards,
Luky
Oh yes,
the gadgets for almost all resolutions are not arranged properly - it is still the beta version and I will work on this this week.
But you can of course easily re-arrange it however you want very easily (just check the video I have mentioned above).
Thanks.
Luky
it is really nice and fast. on start up there was too much gadgets on screen, I would say try to make the desktop really clean aligned properly on startup. but it's a good work you're doing.
I'm not sure if this is a bug: using the file manager to explore my windows directory seems to hang the app, or maybe my windows directory is just really big. after it hanged and I terminated it manually, the app still populated my top and bottom bar, and half my screen, I had to soft reset.
plus how to change background?
Hi,
thanks for your feedback. I'll check out the problem with Windows folder.
To change the background image, just find such image in the yrgo's file explorer and use Context menu and scroll down to get ability to use such image as a desktop background.
Regards,
Luky
I really like your app. your design mode is very innovative, resizeable icons, etc.
*why the "hide" button? after going deep in the settings and want to go back to the home screen I had to click back button all the way back to home. it is possible to make the hide button "home" button so one click will bring me back to home? I know I can click on an empty spot and it will bring me to home, but I don't think everyone will know that.
*when not in full screen mode some of the icons/info is cut off at the bottom because the icons\layout doesn't resize accordingly.
*is it possible to add the "running applications" button as a gadget?
*also could there be some transition effect from desktop to desktop?
know I'm asking for a lot but I wouldn't be saying anything if I didn't like the app.
Hi,
thanks for your feedback. It's ok, your questions are really relevant and helpful for me.
Yes, you're right. It makes more sense to have button "Home" instead of "Hide". I'll change it.
I know about the problem when switching off the full screen mode. The previous version had auto-rearraning the gadgets but it made a big mess when you switched from landscape/portrait mode so I temporarily removed it.
Yes, running appliactions can be add to the desktop easily - as any other item in yrgo - just 'tap and hold' on the Running application icon a use "Add to desktop"
Yep, some transition effect would be nice - but at this moment it is not my priority. I need to release current 2.3 as soon as possible. After that I'll start to think about new feature.
Again, thanks a lot for your feedback- it was very helpful.
Regards,

I am looking to add a soft reset option to the quick links on the HD2. I was wondering if this is possible. I have searched google and xda and cant find what I am looking for.
I know there are third party apps available but I was wondering if I could download an app, create an entry in the quick links (when you long press power off button) and then get the device to reset.
Solution
I used this thread here by Johcos and a good tutorial on how to intergrate it into osKitchhen here
Respect to the dev of the end key it is aswome!
you may try to replace the original Long Press End Key with the Jochos as indicated in this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=880905
Another alternative is to use Action screen and add the quicklink you want. You can also link the action screen to the end button, by replacing the exe.
I hope it helps.
Looks promising I will have a look thanks!
You can use xdashutdown, and have arguments in lnks to reset, device off and stuff like that. For device lock, you will have to use other lock programs, and do the same.

This one here that ypsmav mentioned is perfect! Does exactly what I am looking for but like the user on the thread I am having problems getting it cooked into my rom! I will work it out though. Just need to read the thread a bit more. It even allows short press end to lock the device and looks exactly like the orgional.
