Qmat -> GET SD SERIAL -> None Found. - HD2 Windows Mobile 6.5 ROM Development

When trying to find out the SD Serial via Qmat (HARDWARE FORENSICS > WINCE SC CARD UTILS > GET SD SERIAL) I get the error: "None found."
Anyone with an idea?

if ur device connected through activesync? if so, change it to direct disc access.
otherwise, i see 2 things u could do, perhaps using a different sd-card reader (but i doubt that would work), or try usign a different SD card, that will probably work

Thanks, but the error was on my side. - I did not see the Windows Mobile askes me to confirm something...

For future reference as well for anyone else that encounters this issue, and isn't able to fix it by allowing the dll file to run, you need to RTFM! There is a regkey that needs changing too, details are in the manual.

I am also cannot explore the devise using the pc through either activesync or my computer the window appears blank. Pleas help

this means your bootloader version has a protection mechanism ... maybe it's 5.22. anyway, this means you can only use the SD card flashing method.

It works for my 838.. I have lockup and unable to switch to SDcard mode only if I connected to my PC and activesync once and unplug. But that seems to be the activesync issue in my 838 which fail to free itself from unplug from PC. So it cannot switch to SDcard mode..and prompt me an error message.
I have already switch to AS4.1 but does not improve my situation.
What is Microsoft doing here?? A soft reset is the only way to get my device syncup again.. :x
I own this program since I had my XDA mini ...
finally I can use it again to copy some files to my pda and use it as a memory stick...
I also noticed some problems:
1. after I connect the USD cable and the PC recognized my pda as a memory stick, Windows XP asked me to make a reboot in order to be able to use the new 'harddrive'
2. after I copied a .jpg to my pda it looked like the storage card is no longer recognized by WM5. The icons of the shortcuts to programs I installed are missing and I cannot browse with TotalCommander to my storage card.
After disconnecting the USD cable, my storage card could be found again - is this a bug or a feature?!
After the first connect in mode 'Card Export' I switched to 'Active Sync' and the synching went on without any problems.
After agains swithing to mode 'Card Export' my Wizard gave an error message, as follows:
"Cannot switch between Card Export and Active Sanc modes. This may be because of missing dlls or corrupted registry entries."
This looks also to me like an incompatibility between card export and active sync.
Hmpf ... rebootet the phone and connected - voila - my Wizard was again properly verified as Memory Stick and I again could upload another .jpg to my device.
It looks definately unfinished ... but it is working quite acceptable to me, though there is a lot room for improvement, it will get the job done, if I need a memory stick 'on the go'.
My device is a HTC Wizard, O2 german.
i may be wrong on the second point, but activesync alters a file when you transfer it to the pda,
so if you transfer a file to the card (even using a card reader) then put the card back in the pda wm5 will not recognise it properly.
point 1 should only happen the first time of detection.
have no problem with my XDA II...

I am experiencing the same... Please update this topic if you'll find a solution.
i'm having the missing dlls dialog problem too.
I noticed that once you activesync'ed, you can't switch to card mode and need to reboot the device.
However, mine can't seem to work anymore. It won't even switch. But I also tried disabling my today's screen (pocket plus and pocket breeze) and it works... but only the icon manage to change. My PC can't detect it as a mass storage device though.
Any luck?
Mine is working fine, I got that dll message once but a soft reset fixed it.
Just wondering what roms are you guys using that works with softick? I'm using rom version 1.6.7.1 WWE which doesn't seem to work. I tried hard reset and install softick on the first reboot. The computer detected a new hardware but failed to install the device.

Same here too!! using ver 2.12
ver 2.11 worked fine with me, so most probably I will downgrade to it now.
I emailed the tech support and waiting for their reply. I will post it here in case I get anything new.
I just tried v2.12, and it didn't work. I found v2.11 on some download site, and installed it. v2.11 worked fine on Qtek's 2.8.7.1 ROM.
I cant get this to work either using 2.12. I get the device manager problem as mentioned previously. Does anyone know where can i get 2.11 from?
found it here:
http://www.softick.com/files/CardExportPPC211c-softick-en.zip
but i get the same problem
You can find previous versions in the "download" section on the left.
I'm having the same issues, used to work fine with 2.11, then it stopped being able to write but could still read (this is on my Mac), and now with 2.12 I can't even get the thing to mount. I'm talking with the developer to see if we can get a fix.
Any 2.12 and 2.11 not working for me... My computer and three others shows me message that they don't have drivers
I posted a query on their forum.

I'm a bit confused regarding their reply.
You asked a question about the Wizard and they replied saying they are waiting on delivery of HTC Universal to examine it better. I'm not sure what the Universal has to do with compatibilty for the Wizard as they are completely different devices with different hardware. (Mybe i'm wrong and the hardware components that Card Export uses is actually the same on both devices)
Puckster -
I noticed this on second look, and asked for clarification.
just want to inform everyone that there is a free alternative. it's similar to softick card export that it turns your device into a plug-and-play card reader. it's called wm5torage (yes, the number '5' is the letter 'S')
http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=45411&highlight=wm5torage
it does not have the system tray icon that enables you to switch between activesync and export mode, but rather you open the app in your accessories folder and activate/deactivate it from there.
but hey, it's free and it works

Ther must be a way for UNBRICKING

Hi, I searched a lot on forum and found a way for flashing from sdcard in Hermes forum.
There for i took a RUU_signed.nbh file copied to the fromated SDcard
- renamed it to HERAIMG.nbh (similar to HERMIMG.nbh on hermes forum)
--> and put the phone in bootloader
--> it starts searching sdcard
AND THEN
--> a processbar appears and it says "Checking SD contents"
BUT
--> "Invalid Certificate" - press any key.
So there must be a way to flash from SD card.
I will try different RUU and tell more.
Someone wanne help?
It must be named
"HERAIMG.nbh"
then it stops on white screen saying: Checking SD contents
But i got
Invalid Certificate
AND when it is an official .nbh extracted from RUU_xxxxx
it stops for 5sec on
"Checking SD content"
but the processbar doesn´t change and then it goes to bootloader without changing anything.
????????????????????????????
I will test this method too, i saw some flash of SD hen going into bootloader mode, did'nt know there was an option like this i will post my experiences
I tried these two RUU nbh's:
- RUU_Herald_HTC_WWE_5.4.405.1_4.1.13.34_02.79.90_Ship
- RUU_Herald_HTC_WWE_1.8.405.1_02.71.90_Ship
I've firtstly formatted my SD card, then copied NBH file's to my SD and named them HERAIMG.nbh.
Both times there was only a statusbar that did not proceed loading, and my continues in bootloader after 3 seconds...
Also got the Invalid Certificate error when I copied the WM6 nb of ASerg and renamed it to HEARIMG.nbh.. what is this certificate? and can it be edited in a way so we can flash??
Talking about unbricking anyway, can Herald users use Platform Builder?? i read in a thread that you're phone has to have KITL, but i don't think the Herald has KITL.. Can anyone who knows for sure please tell?

The .nbh are "signed" os files. you can generate these fiels by "nbhgen.exe" but i didn´t get it to work with an RUU - it allways says "image is corrupted" because it only contains OS.nb
when you extract an RUU_signed.nbh out of the RUU_xxx.exe it contaisn splash.nb, os.nb, extrom.nb, spl.nb etc.
That´s the certificate = the singend nbh
So that won't be an option I guess... too bad
but does the Herald have KITL in bootloader mode? if so, you could use Platform Builder to unbrick your phone.. that would be very very sweet.
And what is this mtty thing? should be some funky stuff to

MTTY never worked for me - but that could be my system. And KITL - i don´t know what this is. sorry.
I sent it to O2 and hope they will repair some minor bugs and also the booting problem.
Little thready about unbricking a Hermes with KITL + Platform Builder:

Hmm i'll have a look around to find out what this mtty thing does..
btw: KITL = Kernel Independent Transport Layer, it is the windows ce kernel debugger interface
Is there anyone continueing papamopps' solution to unbrick Herald?

That´s not right. For unbricking a XDA Terra we still need a soulution.
The Terra IS NOT the P4350!!!!!
And the RUU updates are for P4350 (and in some cases for VPA compact)
But not for terra - we have to wait for an O2 update....
Vendor Id
I have a Vodafone CID(?) locked bricked HTC P4350.
Using the HTC updates I cannot unbrick my phone, because it keeps saying "Invalid Vender Id".
This unbricking with flashcard could be a solution for me.
I already try with official rom, but my herald is still brick, i can not syncronize the herald with pc to run the official rom.
It is freeze in inicial boot with HTC logo.
help, please anyone....
You can't simply place the rom file to the card and hope the device will read it in this way. In my time working for pda service, we used WINHex to format the card (to RAW-unformatted) and then we wrote the rom file in RAW format to the card. Your card looks like an endless stream of hexazecimal values. Only winhex recognises this format, if you insert the card to the computer, it will simply ask you to format it. After inserting this card into the pda, it will start the upgrade . The order of this operation was, as I remember, to fill the card with 0000 values (there is an option in WINHex, a kind of format) then write the rom file to the card in RAW mode. Then insert the card to the device.
Another way was to use MTTY, connect the pda to the computer (PDA should be in bootloader), open MTTY and connect with the device. ActiveSync should be killed before this. In MTTY in the terminal window write "set 14 0" then remove the data cable, then close MTTY, reconnect data cable then run the RUU.
These methods worked on HP Ipaq's wich we were repairing in our service center some time ago. I don't know if it works for herald or htc products because their RUU has a different way to register with the device.

replace gwes.exe

Who can assists me replacing the gwes.exe on a Toshiba G500 smartphone?
I was so silly to buy this phone instead of trusting in htc's
No updates available from Toshiba, no helpfull email replies.
Many applications are not working due to gwes.exe error.
Toshiba just replies : no this software and the other asked doesn't run on G500.
So i have to help myself to get the most out of the misery.
On the phone is WM5 with AKU 3.2
Does someone have the files gwes.exe and gwes.exe.0407.mui from another WM5 release and can upload them.
How can i replace them? Due to the fact that gwes is running in the background i can't delete or rename it.
Also the files in the windows dirctory are protected.

Hi,
I don't know what you can do replacing such files, ( I think you must first make a dump of the rom, reconstruct it with the new files and then repack an flash again ) anyway you can try to extract gwes.exe and gwes.exe.0407.mui from the localized emulator on Microsoft web site... search with google for that if you don't have the link, I don't remember it now...
Really hope this help
Do you try to do a hardreset?
Surely you could use pput from ITSUTILS to drop the replacement files in, and then do a soft reset?
As for the files themselves, you'll just have to hope someone sends them to you
a majority of these errors was not caused by gwes.exe itself, i think. if you installed any software recently, uninstall them and try again

There is no way to just replace gwes.exe and have the system working. What you need is a whole new ROM, so unless you can find someone cooking one I guess you are out of luck.

Flashing from sd card is possible with * + power on, but i don't know the filename the phone is requiring, and dont have one. Maybe after rom-dump the file will be known.
Toshiba also upgrades the G900 modell only by sending it in. There is no rom-update on the net. Maybe if someone tries (and knows) to backup the G900 rom maybe there is a chance to kook to WM6 for the G500.

at what % does the install fail?
Bad ID means that the rom isn't matching the region of the phone. Sounds to me like the CID got corrupt. You need to create a goldcard, and with that, you can write any rom from any region onto it - just like if it were hardspl'd.
I'm typing this on my phone, but look on here for instructions on how to make a goldcard: you'll need psas, google it. I own it, and can generate you the files for your sdcard's serial number..

Go here:
http://psas.revskills.de/?q=node/ and download the PSAS free version.
This will only work if you have another windows mobile phone that you can put your card into. Put your card into that phone and connect it to activesync.
Run Rev Skills and select: Menu- Hardware Forensics- WINCE SD Card Utils and select 'get serial and disk ID'
When you get the disk ID, PM it to me or foil and we can generate the goldcard image for you.

Except that even mythical gold cards are device dependant, so it will look at the corrupted devID on line one of the bootloader screen and say "this isn't a hd2" and stop.
