[DUMP] Motorola Droid - boot.img, recovery.img and system from 2.0.1 - Android Software Development

I know many of the developers on this forum are interested in the Droid and frequent other forums for such info. As there is not a "Droid" thread on this forum (and may never be), I thought I would post the following info for those interested:
THIS IS NOT FOR FLASHING. THIS IS A DUMP FOR DEVS
UPDATE:
After rooting my Droid, I managed to push a busybox binary and
Code:
busybox cp -R /system /sdcard/system_dump
Here is a link to the dump:
Droid 2.0 System Dump: http://www.mediafire.com/?3jymgjmyjzy
Droid 2.0.1 System Dump: http://www.mediafire.com/?1njniim1k2a
Droid 2.0.1 boot.img: http://www.mediafire.com/?lnomjj2dyzy
and for good measure....
Droid 2.0.1 recovery.img: http://www.mediafire.com/?kkm5nkztzmo
(I'd love to see Cyan get ahold of this and release a custom recovery.img for Droid!)
Happy Hacking!

I figure this is relevant to post here since the XDA Devs can possibly use this for porting to HTC devices.

Wasn't /system already dumped a month ago?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=581080
Any luck getting the boot.img off the device?

Yep,
Completely missed that.
So I went ahead and manually loaded 2.0.1 on my Droid. Here is the system dump from 2.01.
http://www.mediafire.com/?1njniim1k2a

Any luck pulling the boot.img?
#cat /proc/mtd
should show the filesystem devices, something like this for G1
dev: size erasesize name
mtd0: 00040000 00020000 "misc"
mtd1: 00500000 00020000 "recovery"
mtd2: 00280000 00020000 "boot"
mtd3: 04380000 00020000 "system"
mtd4: 04380000 00020000 "cache"
mtd5: 04ac0000 00020000 "userdata"
then dump the boot.img with
#cat /dev/mtd/mtd2 > /sdcard/boot.img

Glad to help out however I can. I know there is no "official" Droid thread here, but I think these can be useful to anyone developing custom ROMs for the HTC phones.

I think xda needs to branch out from being htc only to all android devices, what would hurt to make subforums? at least have everyone sharing ideas collectively on the same website.

there is a an android development thread at the top of xda that isn't device specific. This is where anyone can go and start a thread on any android device including the droid. of course it must be dev related. there is also a general android themes section to post themes for non-htc specific devices as well as the htc devices.

Thx A lot dude

I have a root G1 here and rooted droid...
Can these be used to recover the DROID to the original state?
If there an update.zip that is original floating around? Thanks

You may want to check this post from the upgrading forum . . .
It might not necessarily be what you are looking for, but interesting.
it is not the point.
next idea?
There's no way to change the size of the ext rom. you can copy an empty one to it but the ext rom will be the same size and the memory cannot be used for anything else such as the OS.

You mean with all the great minds here noone has figured out how to unlock the extended rom to create "Big Storage"? They figured it out down in the Kaiser thread. Maybe we can get one of them to help figure it out up here?

i was EXACTLY thinking about this.
it may be needed to have modified kitchen, stripped registry(trueffs1), widen addresses of boot partition, edited bootloader maybe...
but i do not believe, that CANT be done at all.

What Update.zip are you exactly talking about? As far as I know that is none existent.
I think there may be one on /sdcard or /data, I remember seeing it when looking around on the device.
If there isn't I'm hoping that the zip doesn't need to be signed.

I hope you don't mind me asking but is it possible to compile the apps in the system dump into a sort of "gapps" package for use with cyanogen mod or porting. This is just an idea and if not can someone please politely tell me why.

Need 4.4.2 thru 4.4.4 boot.img from GPE v510

For the stock kernel/ramdisk 4.4.2, (boot.emmc.win) look in my kernel thread in my signature below.
For the 4.4.4 , lock for the complete upgrade image in development.
Might I ask what you are going to do? Any development for the gpe is good news. Maybe with more specific requests, we can better get you sorted out.

Thanks but I tried to get a boot.img from the boot.emmc.win but it doesn't extract like typical .win files when I rename them and try to extract them. I tried with 7-zip which didnt work and also with tar -xvf on my Linux box which didnt work. I was hoping for a boot.img.
Im actually going to try to port the GPE ROM to the v500

You will need the image tools in my repo for that. Look in my Sig below for the "roll your own kernel" thread. About halfway down I have put together all the tools you will need in order to create your own boot image. Good luck! Let me know how it goes for you!

Actually i had seen that thread but the title I refers to a method to rewrite system partitions to GPE and I didn't think that there would be talks of porting a ROM in there. I found the thread.
Are we going to continue to bicker about this some more or can you help me? If not, no biggie... I just wanted to ask
Edit.... Never mind on this request. I found the GPE ROM alpha thread and looks like it isn't going to happen after all. I'll stick to what I know best and continue to port Miui tablet edition. Thanks guys!

The Magisk-v17.3 installation may at some point cause the system to slow down and become unstable.
I recommend right after installation to uninstall the apk magisk file or implement version 17.1 in which you can not see the problem.

There is absolutely no point. A bunch of Junior members are just coming on the forum thinking a certain thing because they don't bother to read what's in here in the slightest. In this casebThis one prolly assumed no one for some reason knows about gsi images on here? IDK it's getting annoying tbh

The gsi (generic system image) is what project treble is. I'm not gonna explain it all because literally all the info you could ever hope to have about project treble and gsi images are in the forum for project treble....... And also in the second link I put is the instructions (which was made way before this post got made) on how to properly flash the gsi images ?

I understand your trying to help but there has been a whole forum about gsi images for a good while now. With instructions on how to properly flash them. So sorry to say your thread is the one that is not needed here because there is already a whole dedicated forum for it. The flashing process is the same for any device with treble support so for example our moto phones we will flash a gsi image the same way someone with a one plus or the poco phone that's treble supported would. Hence the name GENERIC.
hahahah lol the gsi thread is not here. it is a proper forum. can't you realise that not everybody is familiar to this thing? lol

I understand not everyone has heard of it. But when there is already a whole forum for this exact post. It kinda makes this post not needed in our devices already cluttered ASF forum. Text makes me sound way more like I'm being an ass about this than what I'm trying to sound like and it sucks ?.
that's the thing. that's a whole forum as well as g6's. so, if you only look into g6's forum you will certainly no find that as it's not mentioned here even as a curiosity. anyway, will you really keep this going on? if you feel like it tell the mods and if they also feel like it they remove, this is not up to you. thanks.
the topic is okay
If the topic violated the rules of the forum, it would have disappeared for a long time.
If your friend is so familiar, let him tell which GSI version is the most stable and fastest and flawless?

There's not necessarily a fully stable or "fastest and flawless" there called generic system images because they are created for all devices that run android 8 and up not just one device that's specifically made for it like the firmware we're used to using. the reason you don't wipe the system for gsi and all that is because the gsi basically attaches itself to the current system then builds itself based on your system So there gonna be different bugs or speed differences with each device. This gsi in this post might work well for the moto g6 play but since it's not specifically made for our device someone with let's say for example a one plus 6 might have issues. the common issues are finger print sensor not working or camera not working. Unless there is a custom rom made just for our phones gsi is the only option we have though right now which will have issues and your bugs. and the forums are not moderated to well for this device it seem that's why it's getting annoying having a post about something that already has a dedicated forum for it. im not saying it's wrong what your doing I'm just saying if someone did this in the moto g4 play forum since I have that phone to it would have either gotten moved to the project treble forum device list or it would have gotten removed with a locked thread and link taking people to the project treble forum.
OK I understand. Come think that the topic is only purely informational. Thanks for the straightening and in-depth introduction that I should include in the subject.

Just to let you know, I did flash this onto my G6, it booted up fine but keeps giving me the "Device is not Certified by Google" Error during setup and seems to get caught up on the "Checking Info" screen and not going forward. Any solutions for this?
