Which WM6.5 ROM to get? - Touch HD General

I'm planning to put WM6.5 on my Touch HD.
First: Will there be an official one from HTC or do I have to get it here?
If I take one from here, which one would you recommend? I'd like a clean one with no software pre-installed. (except what you would expect from HTC like manila)
Thanks!

1) no there wont be an official 6.5 rom for the HD
2) the which rom should i choose question is frowned upon here cuz it starts arguments, all i can suggest is try diffrent roms, each one offers diffrent things, you'll soon find one you like

alright, thanks!
is there somewhere a list of available roms?
i can't quite find any

Not looking very hard, are you? Try Blackstone ROM Development or HTCPedia.

May also want to try this page in the wiki....should be almost up-to-date. If its not up-to-date then the rest can be found in rom development forum

You are right I wasn't looking very hard. Thanks for the hint to the wiki!

well i guess i'm just leaving my original rom...
i flashed my artemis and i remember having a hard time reading through many threads around here. i don't want to risk doing something wrong... i found a rom that seens good but i couldm't find any download link. what i've heard so far about WM6.5 is not really worth going through all that.
maybe i'll change my decision soon though
thanks!

I had the same problem

Roms

Ok i uderstand why the cooked rom should be taken down, but why have we had to get rid of the pure roms from t-mobile, orange and so on!!! I would have thought that only cooked roms should be a risk!! If a T-Mobile rom kills my phone i would not be happy and take it up with them, but if a mess my phone up using a cooked it is my own fault!!!

You lost me there I was telling him that he can get the original "pure" ROM from HTC or his Provider. I don't know what you are trying to tell me.
yes but it is not so simple to find the t-mobile site!!! and it is nice to have all rom in one place!!! and i do not check the site everyday, so i will know that there is a new rom by someone linking to it on here!!!
What does it matter anyway. The only time my Wizard had a pure operator ROM on it was during the time it was in the box on the shelf in the t-mobile store. As soon as I got it home I upgraded it and have't been back to a stock ROM since. I did keep a copy of the original ROM just in case there was ever a warrenty issue but I think I am past that point now. Even if the site can't post ROM's anymore it doesn't stop .cab files and extended ROM's being posted which is really where the fun starts anyway.

HTC will only let me download T-Mobile UK ROM, where can i find alternative serials?

I would ideally like the most open and functional ROM possible, but i would like it to be stock, do HTC offer a generic ROM for all carriers perhaps?

forget the htc site.go to rom development section,"leo official roms"thread, first post, first link, browse the folders.
you havea t-mobile branded phone so will only be able to use their roms unless you use hspl to unlock the phone to be used with other roms

I've been looking at that thread for a while now and i can't figure out which ROM to choose.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=577717
For some reason the releases go 142 166 143 by date, but the numbers are not acsending, so i'm not sure what to make of it.
Then there are the letters besides the dl links WWE NLD PTG, there are also multiple WWE ones for some reason...
please for the love of Jesus this is my last question, i can follow the guides after this point!
they are regions
wwe = world wide
the versions are by date of release, such as a specific rom for a specific vendor might be and earlier version tha nthe latest that htc provide

Go on like that and you may find you don't get any!

I was only being half serious.
In any case it's all done now, running 1.66, the improvement over t-mobile 1.42 is amazing, much more responsive, internet actually functions smoothly, files load faster, opera pinch zoom works way better and now actually loads full web pages rather than mobile versions.
Thanks for all your help.

[Q] What do i need to cook a rom?

Hello,
i wondered wether i need to be a computer genius to cook my own rom. On all the roms you get tons of apps, and I want to make one with as good as no extra apps (just some basic ones like youtube and opera). I downloaded the ervius kitchen, but what do i need to start? Do i have to download a sort of 'master rom' in which you can disable things you dont want?
Thanks in advance,
Kapie
Im watching the youtube tutorial by lion75y, and i need the stock rom. I bought my device second handed, and i am not able to download it from the HTC homepage. Is the blackstone stock rom available somewhere else? I've searched around on the forums, but i couldnt find it...

To be honest mate there is plenty of guides or kitchens to help you. Try typing in "kitchen" or "cooking" into the search and see what threads appear
Also, this may be a good place to start

[Q] How to port/cook an Android ROM for HD2 (chefs please help)

Hello
I'm looking for some hints about the subject: how anyone can take a shipped, let me say, HTC Desire rom and let it work on HD2.
I'm not talking about doing heavy tweaks, modifications and so on... just to take a stock Android ROM and have it working on HD2.
I asked to some chefs and received some hints but It's not enough.
I don't want to think that this is a "secret" and I think would be great if some chef would share his experience/step-by-step instruction on how to do this.
As I said before, I think we could start just with simple porting of a stock htc desire ROM, just to understand all the steps. I think that further steps on how to customize and tweaks will be explored later and anyone could experiment itself.. but we need a basic starting point.
Some step by step instruction will be great like:
1) Download shipped rom from here .........
2) unrar it in linux folder
3) copy this folder, rename the other one, dowload this file, copy this...
4) execute shell command XXXXX
5) copy on your sd card
6) boot...
of course I know it's not so easy, but is just an exaple on what I ask here. I think there are a lot of other perople looking for this.
Thanks to any chef/dev that would to explain to our noobs how to get the "magic"
p.s.
I ask the moderators to keep, if possible, this thread in the Dev forum... this because we need help from devs here and in the Q&A forum it will be never noticed.
I came across this the other day that maybe of use:

Yes, I was pointed to that thread too. If you look at the end there are some questions I did. The problem is that is based on MIUI... That is already a custom ROM.
I think the better way to understand the process (not just do it) is to have hints on how to port a standard/stock HTC DESIRE rom.

Ideally the same way. In theory it should work...I never tried because sense builds (especially hd ones) are very laggy

Hello, I was just replying on the other thread to thanks you for the answers
I will try to follow your guide to port a stock desire rom (strange that are laggy for you... for me they fly...)
Anyway it's still something not clear about the donor files... If it's ok to take them from an already HD2 working rom or not.. but I will ask on your thread, avoid to make confusion
no one tip from the devs?
I'm start thinking that instructions on rom cooking for hd2 is like a secret
I've asked this many times, but as you said, no one seems to want to share this "secret"...

Did you cook a MIUI rom or a Sense rom or a stock android rom?
For the cedesmith's initrd.gz I was thinking the same thing.. maybe we have to ask directly to him.
wow, both tyween, and rafpigna, started from this, to now:
Rafroid
Typhoon
best roms on xda. Really nice work guys!
But still, no one shares the "secret" I have tried several things myself, but it didnt work. Would really appreciate if someone could share how to port a rom to the hd2.
Yeah would be great if tyween and rafpigna let us know how they managed it, what guides/reference they started of on or if they have any tips for us etc
I totally agree, I would definitly cook my own rom if I knew how to...

You're probably in the wrong forum. Check out this thread, your answer is probably in there...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=713977
You will probably have to download a stock wm 6.5 rom and use the flash from sd card method from the bootloader to bring it back to stock.

This question has been answered a million times.
All one need is to use the search function in this forum.
Alternatively a simple google search will also bring plenty of results.
Questions like these should be limited to the Questions part of this forum. Yet they keep popping up due to the ignorance of the newbs.

if you want a sense rom with everything working Froyo build try CoreDroid 1.7 http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=926507
Otherwise if you prefer gingerbread sense
Sense of Eclipse works well http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1124757
as well as Pyramid http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1075703
For a nice pure gingerbread no sense and cool theming try this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1247295
download ADW launcher or GO launcher and u got an aweseme themed rom that rivals Sense roms
I used a very stable DFT froyo build last time and liked it, but that was awhile ago and sure things have changed!
I don't have any experience with the gingerbread sense? Maybe have to give it a try.
Whats the main difference?
off to google!
Thanks for any input!

Sense is an additional interface added to Android, which makes it more user friendly, has more options etc
try both sense and pure android you'll see the difference
so what spl should it be to look stock? "2.10.00.."?
