Light Reflection/leakage - Touch Diamond2, Pure General

Sorry to repeat but awaiting an answer, when charging, the amber light comes on and stays solid, just above where the top of screen meets the metal frame there appears either a reflection of this amber light or if its not a reflection then a bit of light is seeping through the top of the phone which must mean its not sealed properly, can anyone identify with this? I have just bought this and am trying to ascertain if the top of the phone has a bit of this amber light coming through or is it just a reflection light bouncing off the metal frame? Anybody who has this would know what i mean, please assist?

When connected to Bluetooth, should there not be a blue light either on or flashing, on my Topaz, the left hand to the top speaker is the charging orange light but i thought the other side lit blue when bluetooth is activated apparently the other side is just a sensor and does not light up at all, IS THIS CORRECT? or does my phone have a fault? It is brand new and came loaded with 6.5, appreciate any help?

At the top of the phone you have what i thought were 2 lights, the left turning amber when charging and green when fully charged, when the phone is on normal standby i thought it flashed periodically, does it cos mine does not? secondly the other side which is a 'light sensor' but i thought this went blue when bluetooth was activated, again mine does not, my phone is Brand new with 6.5 preinstalled, is my phone faulty? i am sure on previous HTC models the right side was a 'blue light' so to clarify when my phone is in normal 'standby' there are NO lights, the only lights are on the left side which go amber when charging and solid green when fully charged and flashes green when there is a missed call or sms, the right side appears just to be a 'sensor' Is this all correct.
Any clarification will be much appreciated.

Hi,
When charging, the amber light comes on and just above that where the top of the screen meets the metal frame there appears to be a leakage of light giving the impression the phone is not sealed properly or i cant work out if its a reflection of the amber lite hitting the metal frame, i pulled out the plug and had a close look under sunlight and i could not see any miniscule gap but it is a bit weird, just wondered if anyone else identifies, if not then there must be a tiny gap and the top of the phone cant be sealed properly, i have only had it 2 days and its BNIB.
Feedback appreciated

Try to read and to search. Don't spend your time in this sort of PM's.

@GD:
Although I fully agree with koen-ronse (I've read all your posts, I'm asking why you're staying here if all custom ROMs are rubbish?!), you'll get an answer from me to prevent a 5th post with same rubbish question (you could easily find out the answer by yourself which would have taken half a time than posting the same question again and again):
1. The one on the left is a light. It works, if you you can see it!!!
2. On the right is a light sensor. A sensor is a sensor, not a light!!!
3. BT and WiFi don't use light if active!!! Other HTC models do so, TD2 not.
Your TD2 is fine, everything works as wanted by HTC, have a nice day.

take the trouble to read my question
I will try one last time as it appears i am wasting my time, WHEN THE AMBER LIGHT IS ON (CHARGING) THERE IS A REFLECTION JUST ABOVE IT ON THE METAL FRAME GIVING THE IMPRESSION THE LIGHT IS LEAKING THROUGH AT THE TOP WHICH WILL BE ONE OF 2 THINGS, EITHER THERE IS A REFLECTION OR THE TOP OF THE PHONE IS NOT SEALED, NOW IF ANYONE SAYS' I DONT KNOW WHAT YOU MEAN' THAT WILL BE GOOD ENOUGH FOR ME TO REALISE THERE IS A FAULT BECAUSE IF IT WAS COMMON THEN ANOTHER OWNER WOULD KNOW EXACTLY WHAT I AM TALKING ABOUT

And it is necessairy to open 4 new threads for that???

There's an edit-function, when your text is readable and shorten I'll try to answer

And stop sending me PM's. Act normal.

There is nothing wrong with your device. It's the LED shining underneath the thin black black frame. You can also see it under the frame at the top of the screen. Blame it on poor design.

Thats exactly where the light is, under the frame at the top of the screen so it is it a reflection and not a tiny gap? Thank you at last, you are the first person who has had the decency to answer my question

[Q] track pad light

The track pad had a very dim red light in it when you wake the phone youll see it, its nothing like a notification in the center right side... Just questioning what it is and if we can get to it :/
once you see it youll always see it
I had no idea there was a light in there...ive noticed the red tint to it in some lights but assumed that it was something to do with the touch sensors

Yea the corner by genius button is just like yours.
I havent noticed a light on the trackpad tho. I even looked around for an app or something to activate it. No luck tho....
its not a light... its a dark red lens that covers the optical trackball... there is no (visible) light what so ever in there... you just held the phone at a odd angle in the right light...
go look at any other optical TB if you dont believe me...they all have a dark red hue (regardless of the battery status on the phone)
unplug phone from charger, pull battery and look closely, it'll still be red, and without power nothing could possibly be "lighting up"

i wasnt saying it was like a led its just a dim light thats behind it which looks red because of the cover on the trackpad... but seeing that made me question if there was a notification light down there like on the nexus one's trackball for instance
There is definitely a light on mine. I see it every time I wake the screen.

i though it may just be light from the menu button peeping through but itll do it when the keys arnt lite up :/ hopefully its an led and we can get it brighter for notifications cus that'd be sick (thats one thing i would of liked how the g2 has it going around the pad)
Afaik the only light down there is infrared... if you can see it you got some sick ass eyes, or the lens on the trackpad is somehow reflecting the light or something... but like I said turn the phone off and pull the batt and I still see a faint red hue in the trackpad...

There is definitely a light in there that illuminates for a brief moment towards the left hand side of the button when you wake up the phone with the track pad. It is no reflection of the infrared, it's a light. Do it in a completely dark room and it will be obvious.
I don't have this at all. If it's a light, it would certainly be more obvious, no? How could a light be so dim?
I noticed this last night when I was cleaning my phone. It is definitely a dim red light.

Yeah definitely seeing it now too once it has been pointed out. It's more in the left center of my track pad.
I think it's just the trackpad sensor light, similar to the laser light under your optical mouse.

Nexus One in "The Event"

I was so happy when I saw it! GO NEXUS!
http://hoopload.com/profiles/blogs/nexus-one-spotted-in-the-event
It always is so strange to me when I see someone in person with a Nexus One. You can tell it is immediately but it just shocks you given how rare they are compared to other smartphones.
Hmm, not so sure...
I saw the same episode the other night and thought exactly the same as you. I went as far to rewind and freeze frame it.
It was then that I noticed a slight difference between my Nexus One and the one on the screen. The ear piece has two LED's (one either side). Then I realised it was the Desire as that has indicator lights there. The other reason is the headphone socket is on the other side to ours on the shot as it pans out.
well that kills the rarity then...as the desire is not as rare (no where near as rare) as the Nexus One.
My best friend is on US Cellular and dumped blackberry to go Android(at my prodding) He preferred the Desire over the Samsung Mesmerize(Galaxy S) because of the build quality. Hard to argue with him. He'll love this post.

It's not a Desire. I have one right beside me. Look at the picture - the Desire doesn't have that curvature at the top of the screen.
edit: and the Desire only has one LED as far as I'm aware...
Desire has one LED, same as the N1, possibly one of the sensors being picked up by the camera somehow?
The IR proximity sensor might be picked up as a LED by the camera and turned visible - many cameras "see" some of the IR spectrum, unlike human eyes.
Judging by the picture - it doesn't look like Desire, it can be only Nexus.

I have to agree that it isn't the Desire (just Google Imaged it) and the earpiece os totally different but there are definately two LED looking sections either side of the earpiece grill (ours doesnt have anything similar). The main difference is the headphone socket sits on the left on the unit (ours is on the right) as the guy is holding it, we see the underside of the phone.
What episode is that?
Re: the headphone jack, it could be mirrored?
Bravo for the Nexus actor skills
It was episode 7 (26:10 into it). I had thought that about it being mirrored (used loads in TV and film to suit a camera angle it seems) but in the same shot, the camera housing is square and it doesn't seem to have any LED flash by it either. Also, the volume rocker sits slightly raised from the phone (Nexus One almost flush) and looks lower down the left side of the phone. It could be two phones, one for the screen view and one for the looking up at the "phone in the hand" shot as it looks smaller in the guys hand on the long shot. Not really sure what the little bugger is really...
The sensor shows up as purple... Its a nexus... It just looks weird from the angle/lens just my two cents

Look closer on the both sides of the earpiece, when the phone is in direct strong light that will penetrate the screen tint. You'll see 2 "things" on the left side of the earpiece, and 1 "thing" on the right. The "thing" on the right you know - it's a charging LED, which is visible. The left one your eyes can't see - but cameras see it, as I pointed earlier, and it's a proximity sensor - blinking IR LED with IR receptor which measures reflected light.
If you look at matte (anti-glare) screen protectors, you'll see that some of them have a cut in top left corner - just where the proximity sensor resides.
So "ours doesn't have anything similar" is just untrue.

The only time I've seen one was some lady had one that she got given at some google event, she didn't even know what root was!

I've been seeing N1s on that show too! Almost took a screenshot of one scene where the trackball glows white. Rewound and checked and thought that it could be a reflection of something shiny.
It always makes me chuckle when I see someone put a smartphone up to their ear and the screen stays on; you know they aren't really on a call.

[Q] Red light by the ear piece?

What is this for? I can't even figure out why it comes on exactly. It's not coming on as a notification light, not when docked with zune, seems like it only comes on sometimes when I plug in. It's around one of the sensors, and it's just bugging me that I can't figure out what it's for.
When you plug in what?
My charger, but I can't be certain. I know I've seen it light up, a red circle around the round sensor, but it's rare and random. No big deal, just curious ya' know?
Sent from my HTC Liberty using XDA App
Around what sensor
I haven't see any lights in my focus. Can you take a picture?
I think you are talking about the proximity sensor
yeah I believe it's the proximity sensor. It's whatever one is closest to the speaker. I can try to take a picture, I just don't know exactly what triggers it so it'll be kinda hard. It's a ring around the sensor, lights up red. I was really hoping it was a notification light, but alas, MS did not give us one.

Ha ha...too funny. We have all been lobbying for years to have LED's taken off of phones as battery drains and sure enough once somebody does, the complaints come in "Where is my red LED?"
I suppose that the only option is to make the phones with the LED's and then have a setting to turn LED notifications off. Those never seem to really work though.

Notification LED covered by glass frame coating?

(Sorry for the weird title, couldn't think of a better one)
I recently bought a used Note 3 and after a few days I noticed the notification LED wasn't working. I didn't really mind and forgot about it, until one night I connected the device to the charger and I saw the LED shimmer through between the screen glass and the bezel.
I looked closer at it the next day and noticed that there was simply no hole in the coating like there is for the sensors and front camera. I took the device apart and used a needle to scratch the paint coating away where the LED is and now it looks exactly like it should.
Now I wonder if this is some weird production fault, maybe there are more people who have this problem and maybe didn't even notice their device has a LED (I actually only found out after I saw the LED settings in CM12). If so, I could make a tutorial with pictures on how to do this fix, it's pretty easy and safe.
I don't really get you but going by the title I can say that yes, the Notification LED is covered by a glass, yes. In fact all the sensors are covered by a glass.

This is how the phone should be, there is no hole in the paint/coating. You can only tell the LED is there when it is active

Yes you are right. It seems my phone had the screen glass replaced by a third-party one which uses an opaque paint.
I don't really care since I was able to fix it, but this reminds me once more to be extremely careful when buying used devices, even if they look like new.
Thread can be closed. (I can't do that myself, can I?)
This kinda answers my question lol. I recently bought a replacement screen for my N900W8 and when it arrived I noticed the exact same issue with the LED light so I've been looking to make sure the screen I have will be compatible with my Note. If anyone can help the screen I bought is here.

S7 Edge Notification LED Light Bleed?

I'm really just nitpicking at this point, and I wouldn't ever return my device over something so minor. But for example, when you are charging your device, with the red LED active, do you notice some red light bleed where the body meets aluminum chassis? Other bright notification LEDs also make it easy to see. This is primary noticeable in dark environments.
S7 edge black
Oh, I thought you said that the display LED was bleeding, which is impossible since the display doesn't have LEDs, but no, I haven't noticed any notification LED bleed (yet, on my gold version), but I'll keep an eye on it. Not the biggest issue though if it's there, since it's only there when charging.
What color phone? I don't sees that on my black one
Sent from my SM-G935V using Tapatalk
I have the gold version, and it does that bit. But its no biggie to me
that is what you call a reflection bet you have the gold version to lol
It's actually the black one. It doesn't seem like reflection since it's between the gap of the glass and aluminum. It doesn't bother me, it's actually very tiny, but I just want to make sure I'm not the only one with it.
It's not something I actually noticed until it was completely dark in my room.

"Meh", nothing's perfect, and it's only when it's charging, so I wouldn't bother at all. Spend your energy on something else. It seems like it's rather normal
Well I mean it's more than charging, it's any notification. But right, I'm no worried. Just more or less curious if this was on every black s7 edge.
Found this discussion - http://forum.xda-developers.com/s7-edge/help/gap-edge-glass-metal-frame-t3348952/page2
It seems like it all might be related? However I can't physically see a big gap or stick paper between the openings.

Mine have problem too #S7EdgeGOLD. It seem Samsung QC are lazy to check (too many device with this gap).
I think it would be better to exchange your device as if the light bleeds the water resistance might be compromised. The glass should be glued to the metal body and the light from the notification LED shouldn't be able to pass through the glue if everything was alright. Well, this is my opinion though, it might not be an issue however have one in mind.

Did you replace it? Yeah i send my device back to Bhinneka(Indonesian Online Store); but they waiting until Samsung Indonesia give statement the device is broken. Waiting other people share video a Normal Version of Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge(Without GAP).
Samsung Indonesia don't have brain to think, light shouldn't pass if they persistent glued between metal & glass. And about GLUE// for maybe 3-10 times put it on water maybe no problem. What about if we put more than that maybe GLUE will break too.
Really sad purchasing this phone in Indonesia.
Just checked mine, and I can't see any light bleed or gap(s) on mine (gold one).
Now I'm getting a little worried about the waterproofing. I'm at day 15 of my purchase so I'd probably have to fight if I want to return it. Wut woh :/
So my tech OCD is killing me. Decided I'm going to try another device. Ugh.
Someone please tell me I'm crazy for exchanging a device over something so minor.

Yeah you can ignore it. Same as if your glass break but still work. We can ignore it or replace it. It depends dude, and for me for Rp. 9.799.000 or about $750 device should worth with perfect device. I'm using Redmi Note 3 cost me less than $150, Chinese smartphone but no problem with build.
