Why you chose HTC Touch Diamond 2? - Touch Diamond2, Pure General

Hello everyone,
There are many phones in the market now. There are some cheap once also.
I have spend roughly 600 USD to buy this piece.
The reason i brought this phone, i was fed up of [email protected] the previous phone i had just fell apart with in first 6 months of usage...i had paid almost eqal amount for a phone.
I was looking for smothing sturdy, easy to use and versatile phone. After 2 months of usage i think i am happy with it.
I would be happy if you all also share your experience.
Regards,
Geo

I bought mine because my BA is 5 years old, and I didn't have much to spend on a phone, so I ended up getting the TD2 on att because it was cheaper than any unlocked phone.

I got mine because the design of the topaz is so nice to hold on to , perfect size in term of a cell phone, plus the window mobile allow so much mod and tweak plus apps to the system, just like a pc, thats why I choose a wm phone. iphones are for dump people that they think it looks cool but dont know anything about os tweak and command lines but just know how to touch those little square buttons. wm are for professionals.

I've made a thread like this already, please use search..

HTC gain has a loyal and delighted customer
I bought my Topaz after several months using my Touch Cruise.
Its only problem is its steel carcase. Accidentally, I dropped my topaz and now the phone has very nasty scratches on one of its side. Lesson learned: Buy a silicone case to protect it!
By the way... I became such a happy customer because of XDA-Developers. I tested almost all the Roms posted there!!!

Agree with all of that. Had to be HTC for build quality and support (here though, not from HTC), had to be WM for sheer power and registry hackability, and the Topaz was the perfect size vs screen size compromise for me. And it looks cool, to my 1970's tastes at least

I don't think the iPhone comes anywhere near, in OS terms at least. Hardware's quite nice though...
Topaz
previously
Artemis (still used)
Wizard (battery failed)
Some Nokia crap...

I think it makes the Universal worth having - I just got a Hermes yesterday, and despite it being a beautiful device with feck small buttons, QVGA is too old school these days.
VGA will make you blind faster then the Victoria Secret's catalogue, but it looks beautiful. With careful tweaking it can be made usable for day to day work, but for remote desktop or PocketWord etc, it's great.

Thats vijay555 mate,
He is a top fella but they say he has gills and two sets of knee's and can our run a 911
VGA mode is fantastic - I couldn't be without it.
I have it turned on all the time but find it mainly useful for:
Web Browsing and actually being able to see worth a damn
PocketPutty connections
Terminal Services

You think that's weird, you should see my table-arm attachment:
FYI - I'm working on a new app for the phone, to make it much better then VJBigPhone. One day some time, hopefully this year
But seriously, VGA is great technically and it's a real shame to use QVGA afterwards, but it is painfully small sometimes. But with appropriate UI tweaks, it can work very well.

Strange Unknown PDA apeears on ebay!!!

Posted this in the General forum, but thought you guys may be interested as well.
Just noticed this over at Coolsmartphone.com
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/5-Mega-Pixel-...38331QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem?hash=em300090753602
Appears to be a PDA with a 5MP Camera!!!
Beware though, says it has WM5 on it, however a closer look at the silver model reveals WM2003 and black has WM5.
Not a chance that i'll bid on that.
Any thoughts??
S.K.
It it is even remotely real then it is probably from Japan or Korea or something like that.
Otherwise I would say that it is just a scam. After all, a phone branded as "Pocket PC?" Come on...
Yeah, appearently Chinese OEM manufacturer.....
That PDA is one ugly mothe..........
Thats looks like some Photoshopped SE P910/Samsung love child!
That is a concept from some chinesse ODM from a long time ago circa 2004. I dont think it ever came to market but I remember seeing concept pics of it.
That is definately a Samsung "OK" button.
Googled for it and found something here.
It looks like cheap plastic.

Are you trying to say that your phone does not have a menstrual count?
Why not??

(if ya look arounf on fleabay hard enough you can spot them,, dummys in a collectors tin ^_^) from the looks of it someone found out the designs and started tinkering to make a real phone

Actually, the HTC Touch Pro is the AT&T Fuze in the US, which slight modifications/improvements.
my bad, its a Raphael
hahahahaha
It's all right with you?
So far I am amazed by it. I had no idea that manila could run so smooth and really become a better way to toggle programs and layer the today screen. The one thing I didn't expect was even though the screen isn't any bigger it is way more useful in respect to the touch screen because of the lack of a "lip" around the screen
I will say I don't like the gloss black finish but I think that that is only on the ATT version.
Saying goodbye, Selling my Hermes
After years of not having the balls to leave my girl, I finally did it and hooked up with the G1. So I'm putting her back on the market. To be specific its the ATT 8525 version, and unlocked of course. She'll be coming with an invisible shield pre-installed, 1GB Micro SD Card, 2 stylus, stock rom or your choice of any custom rom on here, and a wall charger. I'm hoping to get $150 obo. She is still in very good condition, no notable scratches or anything. Here are some pics of this beauty, PM me if you are interested. Thanks! I'm letting my xda family have first debs on her first before I put her up on eBay.
Goodbye Hermes. The time has come.
Well I hope to see some of you in the Raphael section but I picked up a ATT Fuze on the 11th. I never thought I would be so attached to a phone lol. The 8525 has treated me very well and made it through a deployment to Iraq lol. It’s so dented and chipped up its amazing it still works. Well guys see ya later, its been a great few years. Thanks for the help.
Sincerely
Matt
Man, talk about horrible timing. lol 3 members posted threads with similar titles of saying bye to their phone. Now my thread just seems so out of place in this one. Don't take it as me derailing the thread, it was moved here. Sorry.
hey, what ever makes easier to find info in searches and what not is ok in my book
Goodbye Hermes, you have served me well
Hello all
Well, its that time now that i have to move on
i have had one hermes for the last year and a half and then another was purchased just last week in the hope of reviving my ailing hermes leaving me with one perfectly working, cosmetically almost brand new hermes and one hermes which is slightly scuffed and has the white screen issue
and the order was placed for one HTC Touch Pro last night ready to arrive at my door in the next few days
well, its been a good long stretch! hope to see some more people over there soon!
if anyones interested in a hermes or even parts from a hermes please post here and i shall duly send them on!
many thanks to all

i-mate JASJAM on eBay for AU $125

Hey all I just nabbed an i-mate JASJAM (Hermes) on eBay for AU $120 ($5.50 postage) to go along with/replace my Magician, the only defect is a non-functioning earpiece speaker, which I can most likely fix easily.
I've been missing a hardware keyboard for a pretty long time, I was considering modding my Magician to have a slide out QWERTY thumbboard.
I've had my Magician for a year or 2, I love it, bought a pink housing for it and upgraded it to Cotulla's WM6.1 and it's like a new phone It was originally given to me by my ex-girlfriend's mum when she got a new phone. She had never used it for anything but calls and txt, which I was appaled at lol
So did I get a good deal?
You didn't get a bargain, but as long as you can repair that ear piece you got a good price.
I paid $100 +postage 6 months ago for a JasJam via ebay, but I was picky and let about 20 go for a higher price before I finally got one.
This is my 2nd JasJam - first is still mine and had a white screen issue which I've fixed, this 2nd is now my wife's and is in far better condition than my 2.5 year old JasJam.
I love the keyboard and Windows Mobile too, so mine gets used heavily
Cheers + welcome!
G.
Earpiece speaker should not be a problem. Most often it's just the spring contacts not touching the board or a bit of oxidisation on the contacts. Just sometimes the speaker is faulty, in which case there is a motorola one that fits almost perfectly and is easier to find than the original. (pretty cheap too)
As for it being a bargain - well count yourself lucky if it's one that has no alignment and white screen problems, they are awkward if not impossible in some cases to deal with.
Mike
Well at least I didn't get ripped off like I would have been if I got one of the $200+ ones
@mikechannon Should be an easy task, had my Magician apart countless times to try out mods, change housings, tighten the stylus holder etc.
@Ogier I love WinMo too, it's so useful I can't stand using a phone with a closed FW for too long. It just annoys me not having a decent file manager etc.

Hero features before buying

Hi, I've decided that I really want an Android phone and if I have a choice between the Tattoo and Hero, I've gotta get the Hero for about 40 bucks more after unlocking, but I have a few questions before buying. First and foremost, is the GPS in the Hero spot-on? I read that the Tattoo had a hard time finding your location, and when it did it was about a mile off anyway, so it was pointless for driving. Second, does anyone know when the Enclair update to Hero may be? I was just wondering about that, if anyone on the inside may have leaked it here.
First: the GPS has been working great for me so far.
Second: We don't know for sure but from some sources, it's coming soon. Soon could be anything, really, but the fact that an early build exists means HTC is definitely working on it.
Also, I'll say go for the Hero since you get a better screen. The Tattoo has a 320x240 resistive screen, which means scratches, and the Hero has a 480x320 screen which is not only higher resolution, but is also capacitive, with a glass surface that's extremely scratch resistant.
Thanks for the reply, the only think I like about the Tattoo over the Hero is the faceplates, I made some *****en plates on their site. Yeah, *****en.
Yeah, but Hero has the *****en design. ;D
You should see how girls suddenly started talking to me since I got mine. ;D
"oh wow what's that phone? *squeal*"

the hero takes the piss owta the tatoo, in terms of design and use also the gps on the hero is awsome, i use copilot live and it only takes seconds to get a gps fix even indoors, on my HD using tomtom it takes about 2-3 minutes even when im outside lol
lol. FML, I ended up having to pay bills with my extra money, anyone know where I can get a cheap Hero? I know, contradiction, but even a locked one? Some people just end up selling their locked phones because they don't like them, I can unlock them myself. I can get a cheap ass one from here but the fact that the website was started several weeks ago by a free host, no fn way. The only ones I can find on eBay that go for less than 500 bucks that are even new are Sprint...and I really want the Chin, must be the Bruce Campbell fan in me. Oh, and can the Hero do this...
