Bluetooth Problem - Hero CDMA General

I'm having a really hard time getting my Hero to pair with my Motorola H820 headphones as well as my Pioneer stereo. They will only pair if I restart the phone and have the headphones and stereo in pairing mode, then I have to put in the four digit code.
Is anyone else having this problem?
Does anyone know how to fix it?
thanks in advance

i have the issue with my alpine stereo.. it connects and pairs but when i turn off my car it never pairs again, i have to unpair.. turn off the bluetooth and then repair.
it never asks me for the passcode when I connect it, and then it asks me for it after i disconnect it, but by then my alpine stereo doesn't ask for it

Keep an eye out for your Storage Space ROM decreasing with every failure to connect and subsequent reset of bluetooth (or the phone itself).
http://community.sprint.com/baw/message/127560#127560

thanks for posting this. I thought I was the only one.

I am also experiencing a similar problem after I paired with my Kenwood DNX headunit. After I exit the car and leave the proximity of it my phone will flash bluetooth headset disconnected, however even an hour later with my car off and me still in the house the phone will flash the message again.
And now all of a sudden when I get a phone call sometimes, i will hit answer but then the phone auto hangs up.
Is there a way for us to unpair a device? I've looked in all the settings and can't see how to remove a device from the bluetooth list.

Uh, you *do* know that bug was fixed in the MR, right?

Uh maybe they tried to fix it, but I have the same problem after using the OTA update so it wasn't fixed.

for everyone that is having this problem.
please give me some info on what the parameters are for the alpine bluetooth settings? and the exact model of the stereo. If you could just take a picture of the settings screen on the pioneer.
also : what Rom you are using right now. Maybe try the stock rom (updated MR).

I am not using the Alpine unit, my car has the Ford/Microsoft Sync unit built in, I have no settings other than simply pairing the unit. I have also tried it against my wife's car which has a motorola IHF1000 car kit installed, again no options other than pairing.
The phone is a completely stock Hero, not rooted and the OTA update has been applied. (I had the same issues when I tried fresh 1.1 but have since had Sprint replace the phone)

And you've looked in the filesystem and the core files are showing up again?

hmm.. sounds weird, maybe you do want to try an upgraded rom then. I have a moto droid with 2.01 on it. It works flawless with my bluetooth stereo (soundstream it is a cheap brand made in china) I can dial through the unit, see my phonebook and everything. It could have something to do with the bluetooth stack in 1.5 (well htc's hacked version of 1.5 (or is it 1.6)) either way. I might be wrong on this one, but I don't think 1.5 supported A2DP, which i think is a requirement on any bluetooth stereo. So once again, I would suggest updating your rom to a 1.6 or higher; or wait for the eclair update if sprint/htc ever pushes it.

Actually, 1.5 does support A2DP.

I haven't been able to get it to work with my Bluetooth headphones. It pairs but only calls go to the headphones (motorola dj forgot the model number). When I go to the advanced settings for the headphones and check the audio (or music or whatever) option, the connection greys out and stalls.
I'm really interested in this topic at the moment because my car stereo died this week and I'd like to replace it with one that has Bluetooth built in.
I guess my main question is whether Bluetooth on the hero is just hit or miss, or am I missing something?
Running "unofficial" modaco 1.3a

The problem MIGHT be that these bluetooth stereo's also require OBEX, which wasn't released till 2.0.
also, when your phone does pair, what profile is it getting set to?
Like with my droid i was having a problem with some of the bt headsets only paring as handsfree. Now with my bluetooth stereo it says phone control and phone audio. So like i said, im not sure if OBEX has to do with phone control, but it would seem it would.

Using 8125 to play audio VIA bluetooth to car stereo!

Hello all...
My first post here!
I found this site by googling the term "Bluetooth Toggle", which was presented to me by a Cingular CSR. Looks like a great place for information, so I know I will be hanging here often! :!:
What I want to know is, can audio files stored on the mini SD card in the phone be played VIA bluetooth to a bluetooth enabled car stereo I intend to buy (or any bluetooth device or receiver for that matter) to use as a handsfree kit? The radio is a Pioneer DEH-9800BT and will do the handsfree job well.
What I would like to accomplish is the elimination of carrying a portable MP3 player along with the phone as I do now! I have a wireless FM transmitter that I plug it into in the car and a second set of stereo speakers at my desk to listen to the audio files on the portable MP3 player. Can this new phone transmit the audio VIA bluetooth to the car stereo and also to my desk PC, with some type of bluetooth reciever/adapter/widget type device?
I haven't received the phone yet, but it should arrive in the next couple of days, so I'm trying to get a jump on getting it setup. Does anyone know if this phone can handle a 4GB Mini SD card or is there a limit on the size?
Thanks for any help!!

Well... Im not sure about this BUT...
Has your car got a tape player? If so you can buy a cassette to IPod cnnecter and then a headphone socket adaptor to your phone. This would enable you to play your mp3s from your phone in your car.
Below is some ebay links that I used, the sellers have more of the same items still for sale.

Hope this helps

This is what I do. Works great. Of course you have to have a cassette player in your car. Another option is a FM modulator but I don't like them for at least 2 reasons. 1-It times out from inactivity so you tend to get blasted by static when getting reconnected and 2-It's another piece of equipment to flop around inside your car.
Pioneer 9800bt
I bought a 9800bt, It does work with the wizard. However you have to manually connect BTAUDIO. The phone will auto connect but it is clunky. If you are listening to BTAUDIO from your phone and you receive a call the phone tells the radio and you can answer it on the radios remote. However when the call ends your BTAUDIO goes into chopper mode after that and you have to disconnect and reconnect.
Thanks for the quick replies!
I will post my results after I buy mine and install it, and of course, try to figure it out.
I just go the phone last night and it's complicated for my first PDA/Phone?PocketPC.
I am just now trying to figure out how to get my phonebook out of my 6340i and load it into the 8125... Whew..
Thanks again!

Hello all...
I finally purchased an 8125 by extending my Cingular contract for 2 years and got it for $199.99. I looked everywhere for a good deal so I wouldn't have to do that, but no joy!
Anyway, as I said above, I also purchased a Pioneer DEH-9800BT in dash CD/MP3/WMA/Bluetooth receiver in my vehicle, and so far I am able to make calls through the stereo which is fantastic!
The only thing I found that I hope there is a way around is that when I beam my contacts from my phone to the Pioneer, the radio doesn't seem to like the format Outlook uses.
When I beam a contact, the number format in Outlook is like this; 1 (555) 555-1212, but the radio sees it like this; 1 555 555 1212 and spaces make the dialing stop. It appears the Pioneer doesn't recognize spaces, commas, dashes or parethesis characters and just makes a space where they were in the dial string!
Has anyone seen this issue on any other type of devices?
I would also like to add a 2GB MiniSD card and play audio VIA BT to the stereo, but I can't for the life of me figure out how??? The stereo says it can do it, but I think I need to add something to the 8125 to make it work!
I have searched this and other forums but I am even more confused on what I have to do. It looks like I have to add a A2DP to the 8125, but not sure how to do it, and I sure don't want to hose it up my first month. It's not like a PC where I can just blow it out and start over again, as from the reading I have done so far, I see some folks with bricks!
I have added all the specs from my phone below so I would appreciate if someone could point me in the right direction!
Thanks again!!
Tom

scosche alternative
I bought a Scosche bluelife receiver and tried to make it work with my 8125, works terrific for only a few minutes and even that is after a rather stylus intensive setup everytime you get in the car.
I too have a pioneer unit (no cassette) and subsequently bought the $10 cd adapter cable on Ebay, and use a JustWireless 3.5 to 2.5 adapter with mic to connect it all together. Other than cables draped all over the car, it works awesome for calls and music. SOund quality is excellent.
An added benefit of the hard wire.... no a2dp puzzles to figure out either... That was a pain to get going on the 8125. Good luck.
9800BT and Wizard
I have the pioneer 9800bt and a Qtek 9100 (Wizard). As said earlier I have to manually connect the phone to the deck either from the phone or deck. To do it from the deck the phone has to be "registered" with the deck.
After much research I found that the reason for the need for manual reconnection is due to the horrible bluetooth stack of the MS phones. The deck automatically detects and connects to my Blackberry 7290 and a friends Sony 910i.
BT Audio works fine, once the devices are connected just press Src to get to BT Audio and start playing from the phone. Unlike phone calls the phone does not initiate connection for audio playback.
I just orderd a Sony 990i to replace my Qtek.
I had the P990i for literally 2 days. I immediately sold it. With the latest ROM, the unit is slow and menu is clunky. I use Direct Push and with the RoadSync software, it's buggy. Hardly any software available.
Things I did like about the P990, it's slim to hold and light (but it's all thin plastic). The camera is the best I ever used on a phone. Sharp and clear. Bluetooth with the HBH-DS970 headphones were sweet but the volume wasn't as loud as I wanted. Screen was crisp with the smaller screen.
For phone features and bluetooth, it was excellent. For PDA use, it was useless (to me, anyways).
Overall, I'm glad I got the chance to play with it - now, I know how the unit performs and I won't have that 'wish I had it feeling'.
Good luck.

Jason langridge over at his MSDN Windows Mobile Blog Site recently posted some info about the new Parrot MK6000 Car Kit which incorporates A2DP Bluetooth Audio streaming. Its not exactly what you are after but its a good example of an out of box solution.
See Jason's post here: http://blogs.msdn.com/jasonlan/archive/2006/09/30/778362.aspx
and the link to the Parrot MK6000 product page here: http://www.parrot.biz/usa/products/parrotmk6000.

Bluetooth and Wizard
The Wizard can do all those things. As you can see from this thread there is a bit of incompatibility with the Pioneer 9800BT but it does work fully once manually connected.
For the PC all u need is a bluetooth adapter, I believe Windows already provides the headset profile so the phone can play to the PC also.
You may need to upgrade your ROM on the Wizard to get A2DP support.
I am not aware of a memory limit on the phone, I have a 2gig miniSD, the only reason I dont have a 4gig is because I couldnt find one at the time.
9800BT does not dial spaces
I worked around the dial from phone book issue with the deck by changing all of my contact numbers to solid numbers with no spaces or symbols. I used a scripts of course, I have almost 100 contacts.
I've been looking at the Alpine BT adapter for use with an Alpine head unit. It apparently supports handsfree, A2DP and AVRCP. Anyone here tried it?
anyone tested the MK6000???

Car Stereo

I know that there are plenty of bluetooth enabled headunits out there, but I'm wondering what functionality it has with the Cingular 8125.
Does anyone have any experience or information on what a bluetooth enabled head unit would be able to do?
Would it be limited to the actual phone functionality?
Are you able to play music off of the phone as well / use voice commands, etc.?
Is there one brand in particular to consider?
Thanks,
MK.
With my hermes my parrot ck3100 and a registry tweak, I can use the hands free function and also listen all audio played in the pda (for example tomtom, podcast or wathever)
More info here:

The inconvenient is that I've lost the voice recognition but it can be fixed..
I've been using the Sony MEX-BT5000 with my Wizard for 6 weeks now. The Sony headunit supports the following BT profiles:
A2DP -- for streaming music
AVRCP -- for controlling media player
OPP -- for transferring phonebook entries
HFP -- hands-free profile for phone
When I get a phone call, the radio/CD mutes and displays the caller ID info; pressing a button on the Sony answers the phone. Speakerphone performance is very good -- the mic is hidden behind the faceplate, but it still picks up your voice. When the call is over, the radio or CD resumes.
I haven't done much with A2DP/AVRCP yet, but the A2DP is at least as good as that in the Moto HT820, based on some brief tests. Also, if you run nav software that gives directions, the directions should come over the car speakers -- haven't tried that yet.
A2DP/AVRCP require a particular ROM, correct?
Would all headunits that are bluetooth enabled support those BT profiles?
Thanks for the info. Will definitely look into that particular headunit.
Appreciate the help,
MK.
A2DP/AVRCP are built into most of the customized ROMs that used to be here -- I used the Tornado A2DP hack instead. AFAIK, only the Sony headunit supports A2DP/AVRCP. You might also want to look at the Sony MEX-BT2500, just announced today -- its price is somewhat lower than the 5000.
Nice. Thanks for the info. Both of those headunits have the functionality that I want. Perfect.
Found out that I do have A2DP/AVRCP, so I'm set. Now I have to either impluse on the BT5000 or wait for the BT2500.
Thanks for the help. I really do appreciate it.
MK.

Sound from Magician on mono car handsfree?

hi
i have got a s100/i-mate and a lot of audiobooks,
Connecting via FM transmitter gives me bad sound,
My car sound system has not input jack,
I tried BHCS stack but it does not recognize my handsfree,
Is there any way to transmit sounds (Mp3 from WMP for instance) to my car handsfree? (Southwing NeoCar model)
Thanks!
i only heard from such a software,
which will transmit every output from a magician to a handsfree.
So, it must be possible to find such a software. I will ask my colleague.
My colleague mails me the software he is using and what he tested on his mda.
OK, he uses a wizard. But I hope, it will run on our magician too. If not, maybe you can find the software-writer and look, if there is a running version for our device.
I haven't tested the software since now.
Hope i could help you with that. Oh, my colleague uses the software for the same aim in listing to hearbooks.

Bluetooth problems with jf1.5

my bluetooth will pair with phones and headsets but will not connect for file transfer
Might just be me (but I doubt it)...I haven't seen an Android build yet that had OBEX. Check the changelog and feature list for your particular upgrade and see if that was offered.
I have had issues with the bluetooth as well. I bought a Motorola s705 for streaming music/speakerphone in my car. For some reason, the sound quality is CRAP and it 'hiccups' every 30 seconds or so. I tried the same device with my wife's t-mobile shadow (htc juno) running WinMo... Worked beautifully.
I'm using the .26I radio, but seriously considering going back to the old radio to see if it improves performance.
I also just tried to pair and do file transfer with my friends Blackberry and failed as well. I think beartard is right... No OBEX.
I am having issues as well. My Pioneer car stereo supports A2DP, and all is well when the thing is paired, but next time I go to use it, I get connection "Error" when connecting either HFP or A2DP. Disabling stereo bluetooth on the stereo seemed to fix HFP, but I want my Stereo bluetooth.....
Have others had much luck with A2DP?
hey thanks for the replies guys but i was looking for some answers haha
AFAIK, only A2DP and AVRCP was added in Android 1.5, so no big wonder file transfer wont work...
A2DP works like a charm with my A2DP headset - haven't tried with other devices.

Stereo Bluetooth skipping issues
If streaming music via bluetooth is skipping, turn off your wifi and that will fix your problem. I was having major anxiety over this, but found the answer last night searching forums. I tried it out and my music has not skipped since. I stream music to my car stereo and it is excellent now that I've turned my wifi off.

[Q] Bluetooth audio (A2DP) on CM10.1

did anyone manage to get audio streaming working on CM10.1?
I only get audio through the phone speakers.
I tried with PowerAmp's feature called "Route Output" and even I set the option to my bluetooth speakers (I have the MXBT chinese bluetooth speakers).
Things that worked over bluetooth:
pair and connect to any bt device and my laptop
send file to my phone from ubuntu
I can get you the log files if you want

So, answering my own post, I've been reading around and testing a bit...
I tried yesterday Mono Bluetooth Router (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.maxistar.monobluetoothfree) and it surprisingly works, streaming PowerAmp to my nokia hands-free earpiece.
Does anyone know what is this CyanogenMod using as a BT driver? BlueZ or BroadComm's stack?
I read that these guys are porting BlueZ to Android 4.2, it would be nice to have this software back!
http://gitorious.org/android-bluez
There is a post here, looking for people to work on this port ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2096399 )
