MMS problem - Dash 3G, Snap General

I have the latest 3VO rom installed. No problem EXCEPT the MMS won't work.
I have tmobile. The messages just sit in the out box.
They worked fine with the original bloat software from tmobile.
I even hard reset. No help.
Maybe a setting?
Help. I have pictures of my new grand daughter I need to send!!

Did you try the setting posted in the ROM Thread here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=4799282&postcount=529

No. The settings on the post are from the 20's. ugh... Thanks!

SMS works fine. the default settings are.
CONNECTIONS. GPRS.
Then I pick. Tmobile MMS
access point = epc.tmobile.com
everything else is blank, user name, password, primary dns, secondary dns and IP
thats all I have to choose from.

Change the "connects to" to: WAP Network
Change the "Access Point" to: wap.voicestream.com (you have to type it in, it is not a selection)
Then go to Settings/MMS Setting, press the right soft key and select MMSC Settings. Press the right soft key and select Edit. Scroll down and make sure the settings match up with the post I mentioned, specifically the "Connect via" is set to WAP Network.

YAY it worked. I'm only mildly techtarded! Thanks sooo much.

Glad you got it to work. SMS and MMS are totally different as far as how they connect on the cellular network. MMS is basically email using you cellphone number as an email address. You can also send to other email addresses using MMS.
T-mobile only uses WAP for their MMS connectivity, not the regulat data/internet. I am not sure if this is still true for 3G, but for Edge WAP is required.

Must be for 3G. I'm on it. Thanks again for rhe help and education. I appreciate it.

MMS and T-mobile UK settings.

I have tried lots of times to set up my XDA to get picture messages. I has never worked. I can surf the net, and get (but not send) e-mail(POP3).
Sometimes I have had an error message that says "Cannot connect with current connection, to change your connections press settings". If I press settings it goes to a page with: My ISP name and My work network.
As I have changed stuff sometimes, I can click download MMS and a yellow icon says receiving, and it stops!!!
I know someone will just say do a search.......but i have tried, the best settings I got were:
MMS
APN - general.t-mobile.uk
IP Address - 149.254.211.010
User Name - user
Password - one2one
URL - http://mmsc.t-mobile.co.uk
The first page of options in the MMS composer says
connect via: What goes here??
In the MMS composer setup there is no space for username or password, so where does it go??
Can someone explain the process in really simple step by step instructions , as just giving settings, and not explaing where to put them is not helpful for a dummy like me!!!
Thanks!
many operators require you dont make a connections like you did for the
gprs with all the same settings and use a different accesspoint name
often mms
and use that
i'm sure if you search excluding to the networking it forum and use the search string
Tmobile AND mms
you'll find some guides
the AND part mean that you will only get results which include both the search words
After further fiddling, I have found out I can send myself a MMS, just not get one from someone else.
Any tips?

Cingular 8125 on AT&T

Can someone point me in the right direction I've doen numerous searchs and talked to tech support (useless) . I have a 8125 that I picked up, although I am a AT&T sim card user (our company hasn't upgraded yet) so I unlocked the phone and it works great. although I can not access mmode or anything email or Internet related unless using wifi.
Can someone point me in the right direction for some instructions on how to get this thing set up to work with the legacy AT&T wireless system?
You need to manually enter the AT&T GPRS and MMS settings.
Call up AT&T and ask for the necessary information. They'll give it to you.
PM me you're email address I have the cab file that I can send to you.

Well they don't exist anymore and the guys at Cingular could only get me so far. that's why I'm looking around for it.
Mark, you have a PM, thanks in advance
Cab file didnt work Mark. Only change it made was resetting my today backround to the default. all the settings are still the same.
is there a list of settings or a walk through for setting it up manually somewhere?
It should have worked.
Here is what I have:

This network uses a proxy server

Hope this makes sense.
Another option is to go to the Cingular web page and choose Support, Phone/Device Support.
Select the following:
Network: former AT&T Wireless"
Manufacturer: Siemens
Model: SX66
Use the information in Device Setup to configure the browser/internet and MMS settings. It won't match exactly because the SX66 is a 2003 device, but you should be able to figure it out.

Orange Connection Settings (SPV-M3100)

Okay, I updated my firmware on my PSV-M3100 to the one here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=281146
And all works fine in terms of day to day usage of the PDA, but when trying to access WAP or the internet via 3G or GPRS I'm getting errors saying the connection needs editing.
Would someone running the default UK Orange firmware be kind enough to post the connection settings that come with the SPV-M3100 as standard.
I even called Orange to help but "the guy who knows the SPV-M3100 has gone home for the day" not that it is a M3100 issue, just any old Orange 3G settings I imagine?
Anyway, any help on this would be appreciated.
I have tried searching here and the net for what should be in the connections area but very little info is out there
maybe this can help:
http://www.pda-friendly.net/PDA_GPRS_Settings.htm
Thanks, but I was looking for something a bit more thorough...
Settings for Orange World, Orange Internet, Orange MMS
And then the connection settings for GPRS/3G under these
Plus proxies etc.
Still, I am meant to have Orange calling me back today to help me out here, so whatever they tell me I'll document here for the Wiki.
Cheers
ok, i don't know if there's any cab available with all the settings, but a quick search on the networking forum poped up this which also contains MMS settings:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=224183
Thanks for those...
Orange are baffled and now my phone number is not recognised by Orange World at all, and I can't see any website sites...
I'll give them 24 hours more to fix or I cancel my contract (it'll be my 3rd SPV M3100 in 10 days - must be a record).
...at least I can get a 3G connection without it bombing out, even though I can't do anything with it.
Sweet! Those settings worked perfectly on my Orange UK M3100, just as they have on all my other devices. Shame there isnt a cab that can do the same!
Cheers,
Fin
Are these of any help?
http://www.filesaveas.com/gprs.html
Hi There,
Just to let you know, you can get the settings straight from the Orange UK website. Just create a free account based on your billing and phone number, and there will be a section for them to either SMS you the settings to your M3100 or for you to stick them in yourself.
I recently put on WM6 onto my M3100, and just put the orange wap setting. Even though there are originally about 3 or 4 different gprs settings on the M3100, the only one that really ever is used is the orangewap access point settings. The orangeinternet access point settings are never touched when the M3100 3G access is taking place.
FYI from the orange site under 3G Setup for M3100:
Setting up the data account
1. On the PDA, tap on Start and then Settings.
2. Tap on the Connections tab.
3. Tap on the Connections icon.
4. Tap on the Advanced tab.
5. Tap on Select Networks.
6. Under the first drop down box, tap on New…
7. In the Enter a name for these settings: field, enter Orange GPRS WAP
8. Tap on the Modem tab.
9. Tap on New…
10. In the Enter a name for the connection: field, enter Orange GPRS WAP
11. Tap on the Select a modem drop-down list and select Cellular Line (GPRS, 3G).
12. Tap on Next.
13. In the Access point name: field, enter orangewap
14. Tap on Next.
15. Tap on Finish.
16. Tap on the Proxy Settings tab.
17. Select the This network connects to the Internet option.
18. Select the This network uses a proxy sever to connect to the Internet option.
19. Tap on Advanced… Tap on WAP.
20. In the Server field, enter 192.168.071.035
21. In the Port field, enter 8080
22. Tap on ok five times
23. Tap on x to close the Settings screen.
24. Tap on Start, Programs and then Internet Explorer.
25. Tap on Menu.
26. Tap on Favorites...
27. Tap on the Add / Delete tab.
28. Tap on Add...
29. In the Name field, enter Orange GPRS WAP
30. In the Address field, enter http://wap.orange.co.uk
31. Tap on Add.
32. Tap on ok.
33. Tap on x.
The new WAP profile is now configured and ready for use.
I did everything apart from Step 21, whereby when I wrote my settings down, the port number remained at 9201, NOT 8080 as written in step 21.
Give this a go, and see if it works for you.
Good Luck!
if you're on contract, the accesspoint is orangeinternet no password, nothing.
for MMS settings; google for them, a site called filesaveas.com has them

I have created a cab file that will install Orange UK internet, WAP and MMS settings to make things a little easier!
Hi,
I have upgraded to 20070320_RUU_Hermes_WWE_3.23.0.0_1.34.00.10 on my M3100 which works great except for the 3G connection. To configure the device I used the 'Orange Internet MMS Settings.cab'.
Once the Direct push is configured for my exchange server, the device downloads emails. The device then drops the 3G/GPRS connection and the activesync screen shows error with No connection for data.
Looking into the xml files saved from the original Orange ROM shows extra settings that do not appear in the 'Orange Internet MMS Settings.cab' file.
Has anyone else seen this issue or have more info on Orange 3G settings?
Many Thanks
Crammy
I've flashed my phone with this WM6 ROM as well. Has your SPV M3100 stopped receiving/sending MMS's ?? I've checked and re-checked my phones MMS settings a dozen times and also had orange send them to my phone cia SMS but no joy. I wonder if it is just me or a common problem with the new WM6 ROM's and the M3100?
Mine works fine.
As long as you set up the MMS data connection AND the mms server correctly, yours will as well.
There are hundreds of threads here and elsewhere with the correct way - but the key is to set up an ORANGEMMS connection in the "private" connection settings (with user Orange, password Multimedia and APN as orangemms, then set up Orange MMS server in MMS settings with Gateway IP (proxy) address: 192.168.224.10 , Port: 9201, MMS Message (Relay) Server URL http://mms.orange.co.uk/

Looks like we are having a double conversation here!! Anyway. I have deleted my original MMS settings as these were set up in the "internet" connection, not the "private" connection as you advise. I have used exactly the setting you show above but when I try to send an MMS I can't and I just get the timer symbol showing they cannot currently be sent. I'm really at a dead end hear unless you have any other ideas?? I really appreciate you taking the time out to help though.

Thanks for that, it set up internet ok (although I had to manually change the DNS servers!) but MMS doesn't work without tweaking. Anyone else had similar probs?
Thanks again,

The browser is probably not returning the correct user-agent string. Unfortunatly the operators decided to use autodetection via this string. Its a right pain because i cant access the o2 pda site either, i get the crappy wap text version
I believe the gurus are investigating it. What ROM are you currently running?

I'm currently using Black V2 with a Radio rom of 1.38.00.10

Total noob question, but I need help: Tmobile + MMS + 8525 = =(

Hello,
I'm completely lost, so sorry for the completely noob message. I just got an AT&T 8525 running Windows Mobile 5, and I used the unlocker on this site to unlock it. Worked great. But I still can't send or receive MMS messages from the phone. I use T-Mobile. I've fished through tons and tons of sites explaning the settings and how to set this up, but it's just not working for me.
If I go under "connections", I have a section thing that I made, called "T-Mobile GPRS". Under that, if go to "Manage existing connections", I hav eone called "T-Mo MMS1" that I made which uses Cellular Line (GPRS, 3G) Access Point: wap.voicestream.com, no user name, no password, no domain. Then I did proxy settings Proxy server "216.155.165.050" and under Advanced I have the HTTP Proxy server as "216.155.165.050:8080". Then I go to start-messaging and hit "Menu-tools-options" and I click MMS then click the Servers tab where I named one "T-Mo MMS". Under this, the gateway is "216.155.165.050" Port "8080", server address "http://216.155.174.84/servlets/mms", and connect via "T-Mobile GPRS". At this point, I keep reading that there should be some sort of "WAP" menu or something, but I don't have that. The only other thing I have there is "sending size limitation" which only lets me choose 600K.
When I go to send a picture message, it connects to the GPRS, but then just sits there "sending" it. But it never sends, and when I come back, there's a red X on my message saying that it never sent.
Could anyone please help me out or direct me to the right place/forum/thread for this type of problem? Thank you very much.
In the MMS section, you have to change the settings in the MMS options to use T-mobile MMS settings.
Thanks for your quick reply. I'm not quite sure what you mean. Could you elaborate?
-- Nick
replace 216.155.165.050 with 216.155.165.50.
The 050 is a mistake on the tmobile site.
That worked!
Thank you, Sandhawk! That was definitely the problem. I appreciate it
-- Nick
Ok, I'm having the same problem, but have followed all of the suggestions with no fix. I'm also on T-mobile, and get the "error synchronizing" message. I've tried all of the settings I could possibly find, but nothing is working. I'm using Schlap's 4.01 rom. Thanks.

Multiple APN use on Cyanogen 3.4

Hi,
Im using Cyanogen's 3.4 ROM with Hero Theme 1.3.5 and can not for the life of me figure out how MMS is supposed to work simultaneously with data/internet.
I have 2 separate access points configured on the phone, one for the internet and one for MMS.
If i create an MMS whilst the internet APN has the green radio button next to it checked it will not send. However if i go into the APN settings in the phone and check the radio button next to MMS i can send and receive it with no problems but can no longer browse the internet over GPRS / 3G
there is no settings in messages to tell the application which APN to use and it appears that in its current state, the phone is not smart enough to swap over temporarily to the correct APN and then swap back, it has to manually be done.
Is anyone else having this problem or is there something i am missing to get the phone using both APN's at the same time?
Thanks in advance.
Try setting the apn type to "mms" for the MMS one. The checkbox will dissapear, sa that might mean you can no longer manually select it, since it will be selected automatically
Ok i tried that and your right, it did remove the check box. but it didn't fix the problem unfortunately. just for good measure i changed my internet APN to have the APN type and that didnt work. so i removed it, left the MMS APN with the APN type of MMS, powercycled and tried again, still didnt work
Got any other ideas? is anyone able to replicate it? Cheers
You could try to use "default" for the Internet apn type, along with "mms" for the mms one. Other than that.. try searching the internet for the settings.
