Button backlight timing - Imagio General

Does anyone know if there's a registry setting to get the backlight on the buttons to stay on longer. It seems like they stay on for about 10 seconds.

screen brightness goes to zero

Anyone else find that some software can cause the screen brightness to slide down to zero, so you have to go through settings and slide it back up via several irritating clicks. Not sure what software is doing it
Regards,
Mike
yup
use to happen onxda1, happens only sometimes on xda 2

Yup it happens sometimes. I think I figured out when that happens.
It happens when you press the Power Button not all the way e.g. when you apply only minor pressure to the button. Normally this happens accidentally when you want to Power Off the XDA. SO instead switching off the the XDA, if you do that (i.e. press power button not all the way), the brightness will go all down to zero.
I think the "half press" of the power button to dim the display is an intended feature not a bug. Was the same on my iPAQ before moving to the XDA II.
I have had ythe odd occassion (twice only) where after a soft reset the screen brightness was set to zero. You have to go to the screen settings and slide up to your desired setting again.

help...backlight button did not work

I just bought O2 xda exec few days ago. But I found the backlight button doen't working. And i go to change a new one already. But it is the same. Also don't working. Is it the OS problem or hardware problem.
What exactly is it doing? On my Jasjar the backlight button will only turn on the backlight if it's off because of the timeout. It won't turn the backlight off, nor will it turn on the backlight if you toggled it by holding down the power button. It doesn't work the way I would expect, but apparently this is the way it was designed to work.

Yes, my backlight button only turns on the light for the screen, not the keyboard, what you would expect it to do both.
Does the keypad backlight on this thing actually work? I can't turn mine on whatsoever!!!
I don't want to return this phone back to O2, when none of them will work in the end.
The backlight button does work, but it works in so few situations that it's pretty much useless and a waste of a button.
key pad only lights up after you press a key if its dark enough
if you cover the light sensitive port above the xda exec script above the lft side of keypad then it will come on whenever you strike keyboard though i think screen backlight has to be on
some people are covering port with a small piece of black tape to set keyboard backlight on pernamently though im not sure what it does to battery life
just checked and screen backlight has to be on
I have set my keyboard lights to come on whenever you press a key. Much nicer

backlight issue wm5 help

how come I can't turn off the backlight anymore while holding in the power button, or turning it off in the settings > backlight (going all the way down) still won't work. The only time the backlight goes off is when its set to go off if not touched for 1 minute. Any fix for this?

Random BackLight Bug

Hi, first time posting! so hello everyone 8)
I got xda exec, i had this problem with the first rom and the latest one too. For some random reason when my phone comes out of standby sometimes my backlight is off. i struggle to see my screen and when i check my backlight settings (brightness level) "on battery" its set to off on the slider. When i set it higher my backlight works. Also my backlight button does not respond when this happens. It just randomly happens but im starting to notice it more and more. Any ideas peeps
Try:
1- pressing the button beside the volume slider.
or
2 - pressing and holding the power button.
Hope that helps

thanks but i tried both, doesnt work. the only way it comes back is by going to backlight settings. Is there a file that could be corrupt that stores the information about the backlight settings?
Is the box "turn on backlight when a buttonis pressed or the screen is tapped"?
Other than that i've not got a clue. Someone who knows a bit more? any ideas?

yeah thats ticked. the only way i get the back light to work when this happens is pushing the slider up, the one in the battery settings
seems real odd.
If noone else has a suggestion a hard reset might help, dont know if you've tried that yet. If you do this dont forget to back up everything.

Hi,
I think it really is the POWER button: if I press and hold it for a few seconds, the slider goes to zero and the light goes off. Press and hold again restores the old situation.

My wife's Magician did this sometimes too.
Turned out that in her case it was because when you hold down the power button to turn the phone off (for a second or two) it doesn't actually turn the phone off, just the backlight. (Of course it all goes dark, so it looks like the phone is off if you don't check too closely.)
Then when you press the power button to turn it on again (after it's timed out and turned itself off), there's obviously still no backlight...
May not be your problem, but give it a check...
In nearly three months, I've had this happen perhaps four times. My device has the "on-battery" backlight set at one notch, to save the most power, and I guess something must just move it that one notch down to off.
So far there's been no uniform circumstance, other than it's guaranteed to happen at night under low street or room lighting so that I can't see the screen to get to and re-adjust the setting.
A hard reset doesn't help. I've reset numerous times with different ROM versions and had the problem reappear - but very infrequently as I said.

Backlight settings not effective on Jasjar

Even when I untick 'On Battery power Turn off baclight if device is not used for ... Time', my Jasjar baclight goes off in 2 minutes. And, if I set this to 5 minutes still my Jasjar backlight goes off in 2 minutes. Also, when I choose to 'turn on backlight when a button is pressed or the screen is tapped, it doesnot turn on any button or screen tap. I can turn it on by power button or Call reject red button. Any registry hacks/ Am I missing something? I would like my backlight always on untill I press power button. Also is there any hack to turn on power/ backlight automatically when I open the lid?

Maybe a soft reset (fixes lots of weird problems like this). Cheers,
yeah and if soft reset doesnt help, do backup, sync with PC and do hard reset.
