3D performance in 3rd party programs. - Touch Diamond2, Pure General

Hello. As far as i understand it, the Topaz has a video chip. It even has 64megs of video ram! TF3D is nicely accelerated.
Now I'm just wondering why 3D games like Gameloft's Ferrari GT are so slow (unplayable as a real game). Also I'm using GPS software CoPilot and I thought it was normal for the navigation to have very low FPS. However I found this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zIJWAu6IRe4 which shows things doesn't always have to be so crappy (though its tomtom, it's just for showing difference and how smooth it runs on that phone on the left!).
My question: how can I achieve this with my Touch Diamond2?
I have been searching for 'video acceleration' and stuff and only find this 'Diamond D3D driver' which indeed seems to accelerate some apps but they need to be specificaly made (lights thing and hologram).
What is the best thing to do, to make my topaz perform the best in 3rd party 3D stuff? Or should I just forget about it all and never hope on it?

All apps that CAN be accelerated must be written to use the drivers. There are lots of talk of this in the Development and Hacking thread.

So what Games Work on WM Side?

OK, I know there was a thread that covered games before, but it focused on the Vista side. Though there were some posts about games on the WM side, it was limited.
I've been able to figure out that most applications work (though some REALLY SLOWLY like Touch Commander), but games? This is a completely different issue. I spend a lot of time in airports and would really like my shift to be able to play some of the games my phone (O2 Zinc) does.
Of course we have some problems here - no dedicated soft buttons or application buttons like on a phone (at least none without the Keyboard, and I don't even know if there are "keyboard" ones less the arrors and "Sym"/"OK" keys). Also there is RAM issues, but that should not stop all games. Should it?
So, the question stands - What games do and don't work. So far I know what doesn't:
My Little Tank (Astraware)
Revival (HeroCraft)
Gone in 60 Seconds (HeroCraft)
Of course I do not really why the above don't walk but it probably has something to do with the screen. It does not seem to be RAM as there is at least 15-18MB (pending on my application installation) of free RAM for programs.
Any way - thougts and opinions
Didn't find lots of games working.
Orion doesn't work, and machine at war has some funky touchscreen input.
I was sad finding The Quest from Redshift not working.
Grand Prix Legends runs like a dream.
Especially with the presevation society installer which includes all the latest patches.
I am happily watching my saved replays and they look amazing.
Edit - oh drat, I'm referring to vista side in a WM topic!
My granny says 'oh drat'

Just another performance thread, or...??

Hi all,
First, I did not want to start a thread like this, but Iam reading XDA Devs since the beginning of September '08 and I did not find anything that can really help me out with my X1 performance.
I understand this is not really primary gaming device, but...when I try game EMUlators like FPSce, pocketGBA, all games there are running damn slowly (15fps and lower), switching hardware acceleration in pocketGBA and most games just does not work. When I try classic CAB games, they are usually slow, some scrolling type games (Worms, Atomic Cannon, some RPG's, etc. does not have smooth scrolling and it looks terrible). Some problems can be a bit solved with WVGA switcher (when you switch to VGA mode, it helps performance a bit). JAVA games are just same case, slow and slow (15+- fps).
I read everywhere in reviews, that X1 got really strong hardware...but the truth? OS is slow too (what could I expect from WM, heh?), applications are slow, even the damn scrolling in the application browser (programs, settings) are damn slow and there is scroll tearing.
Does anyone of you got information about incoming updates (drivers,...) or are there any tweaks or drivers or anything that REALLY helps the X1 performance? Please, dont mention advanced tool, xperia tweak, etc. Those tweaks does not really improve the performance at all.
Last thing: dont get me wrong, I really like my X1, but these things really annoys me and I bet it annoy most of you too. Thanks for all suggestions.
Emulators...
I play many games with really nice fps on my x1...
Mostly using Morphgear
without sound ->SNes/Genesis/GamboyAdvance games ->40 fps or more
with sound -> Gamboy games -> full fps + sound
Otherwise try different PocketSnes versions and Pocket GBA (without sound)

If sounds is REALLY important for you (when playing games) then buy the Asus P565 (Touch Diamond style device without keyboard but with speeeed) !
With the P565 you can run any emulator on 100 % with sound and even FpseCE with good fps + sound.

SNES or NES Emulator for Advantage / Ameo / Athena

Hello folks,
This is my first post here. First I want to say thanks to the community at large here for the wealth of information that can be found here on the forums and wikis. You guys have made my HTC Advantage x7501 that much more valuable and entertaining for me!
My question is about SNES and NES emulation for the Advantage (or Ameo or Athena). I have read the wiki articles on SNES and NES emulators, and I have tried a number of the programs, but so far I haven't been very successful. There seem to be so many options out there, and a lot of the links and information is old or no longer valid (I can't find Tala's OpenGL SNES emulator to try it out, for instance).
If you have a SNES or NES emulator that work for you on your device, which one is it and what settings do you use?
I have tried these ones, to varying degrees of success:
-SNES-
n0p's PocketSNES: freezes up on me, seems unable to load a ROM
SNES9xJ4u: was able to change menus from Japanese to English, but I can't get a good picture. It loads portrait style, but not in a usable way (really small, picture garbled a little). On the plus side, it is REALLY fast.
-NES-
PocketNester: I've had the most success with this one. I can get games going in portrait, looking good. Button/key-mapping is really weird, it seems that PocketNester remaps it automatically in some weird fashion. Landscape would be nice.
PocketNesterPlus: For whatever reason I can't see all of the menus to change options or key-mapping. I can't use the scroll bar. Without being able to map keys or fiddle with graphics, I haven't been able to use this one. I really wish I could, because landscape would be sweet.
SmartGear: This one runs fast. Really fast. But the graphics are way off and I can't adjust them. It runs just a tiny box in portrait.
Lastly, I should note that I have tried and love ScummVM. If you're a fan of those old school games try it out! Monkey Island, baby.
maybe u shud try morphgear
Yeah, Morphgear is the one of the few that I haven't tried yet. I have to admit that I was hoping for a free solution, but I'll give it a shot and reply back with my experience.
Have you tried Morphgear on the Advantage?
I tried Morphgear, with the SNES plugin, and it looks very hopeful! I can get it to work in landscape at a good speed.
I'm still working on getting the keymapping right, and so far I haven't been able to get sound working. I'll let you know if I am able to get it going right.
Anyone happen to know where I can find a working link to Tala's OpenGL SNES emulator? If so, can you point me in the right direction? I'm not sure how it would work on my Advantage, but I'd like to give it a shot.
OpenGL On the Advantage/AMEO
I to have been trying to find an OpenGL driver for this phone for three days solid but I am pretty sure that it is not possible due to, if I remember correctly back in the day HTC crippled this functionality which led to talk up a clash action suit in the States for this and other HTC phones that doesn't support 3-D acceleration, or did I just dream that scenario?
As I have left this issue for over two years before searching a couple of days ago I was hoping that somebody in development in this forum would have found a way to get round this problem but last I think this phones development days are numbered, sadly.
There is nothing when you do a Google search and when you do a search in this forum you get the three results including this thread. I believe this thread answers our question, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=670429&highlight=OpenGL
"HTC Sense uses opengl and it cannot run smoothly without a hardware accelerated opengl driver for the device.
As far as there is no hw opengl driver for Athena devices you won't see any ROM with Sense on Athena."
Such a shame as this phone with its fast CPU backing the day would have been awesome with 3-D acceleration.

I might have spoken too soon, I found this suggestion:
"Vincent ES 1.x is a 3D rendering library based on the OpenGL (R) ES 1.1 API specification (Common Lite) for embedded devices." http://sourceforge.net/projects/ogl-es/
,which worked okay but not brilliant for the Throttle Launcher Theme application. anyway it's a start and may be will be good enough for 3-D gamig on the advantage, see what you think.
I have no emulators to try it on but the instructions seemed to be drop it in the folder of the application you are using and it is detected so maybe you can see if it speeds up the emulator rendering?
Cheers

Podcasts and emulators?

Hey,
I've probably watched close to an hour of video reviews on the leo and no one mentioned podcasting functionality, afaik. Is it built into opera or the media player? Are there finger-friendly apps available?
I'm also interested in emulators for older gaming platforms, like SNES and the PSX. Performance seems promising, how about controls? Are there overlays with multi-touch in the works?
I'm new here, please forgive me if this has been answered. Didn't find anything in the stickies or through searching.
Cheers.
For podcasts you could give SmartRss Touch Edition a try.
I looks like it's still in beta, and isn't free, but there's a trial version for download.
I haven't tried it myself yet.
Cheers.
Thanks, looks good enough.
Someone on the FPSEce forums mentioned that a multi-touch controls overlay
for the psx emulator wasn't possible - something to do with limitations of the
capactive screen
Any word on whether he's telling the truth?
Performance should be almost full speed for every game with FPSECE as is with Toshiba TG01.
For controls, just buy a bluetooth gamepad from ebay and your away!
I tried Morphgear with Toshiba TG01 and got poor performance - I hope HD2 is differnt.
Thanks for your reply, I expect performance to be solid as well.
As for controls, I'm sure a bluetooth gamepad will work for some people but it's
just not for me. I would never consider carrying one just for a quick fix of wipeout
in the subway, and that's what I'm after.
The emulator runs VGA anyway, that leaves plenty of room for controls left and right.
The question is whether it's technically possible.

FpseCE 0.1[ps1 emu] on jade

fpsece is program that can run ps1 games on pocketpc devices ....i said why don't gave it a try on jade as it supposed to run this program at good speed ....and this link shows games requirement [high end device-or mid device- slow device] [http://www.fpsece.net/forum2/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=101&sid=018ce0e0a570239526038ac18bea01a3] .....i decided to try the games that can work on slow devices ...the problem is even games that supposed to run very fast as thay said it run so slow not playable at all ..........
i just want to make sure that this is the speed of jade on this program its oky if it dosen't work
so can pepole share their experience with this progeam srry for my bad english
i´m using fpsece 0,10 on my jade with great success.
first of all, you have to try as much game sas possible to be able to pick those which runs good. second, prefer PAL versions over NTSC, they are reported to have more speed. third, you need ti fiddle with game config file to find what setting works best - no sound helps me get more speed. Also games ripped with Pocket ISO runs better.
i am personally very happy with this app, the fact that Jade have no HW butons except D-pad makes many games (ports like Quake, DN..) unplayable... you are never getting Tomb Raider to work with Jade, because lack of buttons.
This all is dealt with in fpsece, you can configure onscreen buttons - as many as you want plus configure D-pad, even to a point it follows screen orientation...
definitely worth a try.
I tried many games but these are running realy good:
Wipeout - full speed! will be your number 1.
GranTurismo 1,2 -pretty fast, 1st one mostly
Ridge Racer Revolution & Ridge Racer Type 4 - playable cca 20-30fps
Resident Evil Survivor - smooth enough, 20+fps
Hidden & Dangerous - same as above, only one real FPS that works that good
old doom-likes, Exhumed...
now i´m trying to optimize even V-Rally´s performance to move up... will see
, read forums, play with it.

thx for reply....and yea games works with good fps without sound i have tried twisted metal 2 ntsc verison i think and it work very good 28+
you can use volume buttons but if u not pressed and hold on it because if u hold it will disable and enable volume ...this problem only on with this emulator because we can use call ,reject and volume buttons in other emu like snes with no problem so i hope they fix it.......
and about editing game config file ..all i know is sound off and on idon't know what else i can customise so i will put some lines and tell me what to edit:
ForceGDI=off
EnableLFB=on
ForceVGA=off
GfxDrv=2
[GPUSOFT]
Odd_Even_Fix=0
Busy_Fix=0
Lazy_Update_Fix=1
High_Res_Boot_Fix=1
Frame_Skip_Mode=1
ithink that all we can edit
