[Q]Elf won't turn on - Touch GSM General

I tried to flash an original IPL/SPL to my device, it completed but not my elf wont even turn on.
Please can someone advise me. Thank you.

... oh, and by wont turn on, I mean its completely dead, push the power button and nothing at all happens.

my elf also won't turn on
there just comes the branded boot screen and then everything is dark.
just the orange light is "flashing" wenn a usb cable is connected.
any idea?

@dgcarter: (i never had such problem so i dunno i could be wrong but i think ur device most probably has hardware problems (battery, chip etc) so maybe you could try to use different battery or take it to a service center
@f-dusk: you can try to go to bootloader mode and re-flash ROM or if its bricked try to use unbricker methods. Please donot ask further questions here because most probably almost all of 'em may have been asked and solved. Refer to Guides FAQs in the sticky threads for more information!

@f-dusk: at least you have a light LOL! My phone was totally dead, like trashcan dead, haha.
@@rj*n: I know, its so weird that it would happen, perhaps the hardware is funky, was just coincidence that it failed when I was messing with it. But I just took it though to Lab88, I was surprised to find that I still have 3 months left on the warrenty. And it's so stuffed up that they wouldn't even be able to tell I had all sorts of funky cooked roms on it, lol.
Thanks all, now I just gotta wait for "the call" haha, but I hope they fix it quick, I'm gonna go mad if I have to use my Nokia 6230i for much longer.

glad to be of any help dude... anyways best wishes for your phone lol

Processor is dead...

God bless``

XDA II Coma like state

Right guys and girls, this "coma" stuff is driving me MAD!!!!!!!!!
okie the latest example is last night i put the XDA on charge not in the cradle as usual as i was not at home, but that seems to make no difference, anyhow i turn the screen off by pushing the power button (top left) yellow light turns on and begins to charge, next morning i pick up the device to use it and nothing.....not a sausage, dead as a doe-doe.
Im not able to power it on, im not able to "wake it up" with a call to it, buttons do not work at all, screen is dead, the yellow light stays on even when charger not connected, however it turns of several hours later.
Ok at this point in the past the only way to fix this was to hard-reset it, which is a royal pain in the arse as you all know, and lost all my info i worked on, on that last trip.
Except this time, it really is dead, Hard-reset dont work, removing the main battery and letter the internal one take the hit dont work, verious combos of reset, hard-reset, with and without battery. nothing
nope, this time it seems totally screwed, anyone have any ideas
O2 is going to get an angery phone call, as soon as there tech support peeps goes back to work after the weekend, they said originally it was just a glitch and i was to update my software (rom). Some damn glitch!
Anyhow in a bid to remain slightly more sain than i will be i was hoping that some of you guys have had a problem like this or even better know how to fix it
How you can help
Regards
Darren

well maybe your phone is just broken
being angry at o2 will not help anything they dont make the hardware they dont make the software they just sell the device
Hum, intresting, before i start, O2 is to blame, in the world of retail and more importantly sales contracts, they are my first and direct point of call, in law, when i give them cash and they except it, they are entering in a contract which sticks them in the position to be blamed, however it is not about blame, its about getting somthing done about it, and they are the people who pull the stings, i do understand that they do not make these devices but thats not the point.
16 year old kids may be a bit put out when there phone stops working, however those who need there phone / PDA to work have more issues when things go wrong.
Whats more intresting is that 1 hour ago, the phone unexpectedly turned on by its self, although not surprisingly, all the data was lost. It seems to of woke its self up when the last remaints of power in the internal battery was about to die, to tell me this information.
Whilest i cant conferm this, if the others who have had this problem before
were to leave the phone off the charger for the battery to die, without trying the usual hard reset, i would expect it to wake up to tell you its about to die and then at this point plug the charger back in and hay presto!
well i'm not saying that you cant sue or demand your money back or place the blame on o2 i'm just saying that you cant expect then to solve your problem apart from reporting the issue to thc who again can blame it on microsoft
dazza8082,
What ROM version do you have on your machine?
I had the same problem with my MDA2 which came with ROM version 1.60 or something like that, but I managed to upgrade my MDA2 to 1.72WWE that I found somewhere in this forums and the problem was solved ever since. I even had lots of sudden SD memory wipes, so far so good... It's been like 4 or 5 months since the upgrade and counting...
The upgrade procedure was performed via the cradle and not via the SD card. But if for some reason you can't manage to boot your device you can always try the SD upgrade method.
I really don't remember the procedure but you can find lots of information somewhere in this forums.
Have you tried to get into Boot mode and then reset the device just to see what happens?
Press the Power button, the reset button and the joypad down at the same time and you should see a DOS-like screen indicating you are in boot mode, from there just press the reset button by itself and see if that helps. You will loose all your data with this procedure, but at this point chances are that you already lost everything in the device anyways.
Best of luck!

XDA does not start, Status LED Red

Hi all
About 4 weeks ago my XDA 2 was out of Battery and i wanted to charge it in the craddle. But when i put the XDA 2 in my craddle (with attatched power supply) the status led only turned RED and nothing else happend. After 30 minutes the status led turns off. I can not power on the xda, not with a soft reset and even not with a hard reset. So i thougt that the battery is maybe dead (too old or whatever ) and i bought a new one....but..... still the same problem!
When i charge the battery directly in the craddle (that works! led on the craddle changes after a few hours from orange to green) and put it after that back into the XDA 2.......... nothing happens....
please help
Hi,
I have the very same problem since month ago, I upgraded to wm2k5 2.03.32wwe, did a change in the system, and after 24h, my phone went dead
Did you do a rom upgrade or in any way altered something in the system? Let us know if you get it work, ok?
J.
The only ROM Update i made was the official one from O²... And this was half a year ago.
Well but..... I SOLVED IT! But i cannot say how... The only thing i've done is that i opened the XDA2 and deconstructioned it in its parts... Well and when i "just for fun" tried to connect the battery to the battery connectors..... DING DING So i assembled it again and now it works fine!
I also cleaned a lot of dirt out of it, maybe this was the reason. I will keep an eye on this...
But thanks for your efforts...
Greetings Ben
Da*n it, you lucky guy,
I wish I get off with such a simple solution. I do not have the right tools but I am out just now and getting the things I need. Fingers crossed
Red light means, you have problem with battery. At first check, if you have closed red lock on the bottom of battery. There is no switch to sense rear cover, so, it doesn't matter, if it put or not.
If battery is installed, lock closed, but you still have red light - try to obtain for a minute working battery from another Himalaya and have a try. If it does not work too... seems it's a hardware problem there.
Same thing happened to me I just took the battery out and left it for a few minutes then back in and it works

Thanks for your reply guys. I've tried everything you guys suggested, but I've been unsuccessful in starting my PDA. It's been like this for 2 months, I've tried taking out the battery, changing the battery etc, but still nothing. So I figured out it's probably a problem with the b/l mode, since I'm unable to enter b/l at all. I gave it to of mine who's a little more tech savvy, he's got the right tools to take the chip out, and if he can manage to flash the b/l. Has anyone done that. If yes, please advise. My friend has fixed some BIOS's for laptops etc, but this will be his first PDA. He said that he doesn't have a board for the PDA chip but will try to work it out some way around. Perhaps someone can advise me where to get that board from?
Anyway, I will keep you posted, and if you guys have any more ideas or experiences, please share.

Hard-SPL or Why are HTC such a bunch of bastards?

Hi guys
Got my Polaris today... started ****ing around with soft-loading the SPL.
Well... as it goes, the display totally failed to initialise, which left me scratching my noodle somewhat; turns out it turns various **** on and off on the device to init it, which, since it's already turned on, is both totally unnecessary and causes a horrible crash.
so, made that lovely OnOff function do sweet **** all... and lo and behold the screen shows the 3 colours, and the custom version, lovely.
so... basically, it's working, however, you still have to unplug and replug the USB, which to my mind is less than satisfactory, so I'll make it work without a replug then release it for you chaps.
Cheers!

Wow! smells good already
Cheers for the update Oli.
Been meaning to ask.. if it was possible to have some sort of fallback so we won't lose the warranty (2 years in my case). My volume rocker and wheel are a bit flimsy and I can see myself using this warranty to get them sorted later on.
Smells nice btw.
fallback? yeah, you can overwrite it fine, if you go out of your way to.
since making a replug unnecessary is proving to be a pain in the arse, in the interests of giving you guys something to actually use, I'll release something requiring a replug.
it's quite simple: tricolour screen appears on your device, "USB" appears at the bottom - you unplug the USB, then plug it straight back in and off it goes.
@Olipro
"Why are HTC such a bunch of bastards?"
The only people who like open source stuff are the great unwashed, ie. us out here in Mugsville. Improving devices without paying the Masters of the Universe for it ? Shrieks of horror ...
Hard question, please. I've looked and looked (and maybe missed the answer), but installing Hard SPL and then flashing new ROM's - can this be done using Win2kPro, or must it be XP or Vista ?
@Oli
If you have some time can you please look at graphic drivers?
Or at least at major problems like performance when touch screen and camera performance?
Many many thanks if you just try
One step at a time my friend! Oli is already doing great job and opens the doors for cooking! I think that man deserves some donation from all of us.

Indeed so, but would anyone please answer my question:

I've also read Wiki back and forth on using an SD card to reflash (I would prefer this), but the Wiki entries seem to trail off onto some other device, never quite finishing. Done this countless times with Eten devices, but not HTC as yet (if I decide to purchase the P3650)

I have tested it...

is my MDA Vario2(HTC TyTN) dead?

Hi all,
i have a serious problem with my MDA Vario II (HTC TyTN),
just have this device since 2 weeks, and last week i flashed a rom onto my device, its a nameless windows 6.1 rom...
the flash went perfect, the device worked flawlessly!
the device has been working fine all week, i had it hard reset for like 2 times.
now i did another hard reset, everything seemed to go just fine, battery was 100% device nicely came into the bootloader mode, nicely went resetted, perfectly booted letting me setup the device and calibrate the stylus right after this the device resetted itself and after the windows logo it just went into white screen, i waited this out for like 15 minutes and then i pressed soft reset... this white screen was the last thing i have seen on my screen so far (2 days ago now) the only thing my device does is give me a red led when it is connected to the wall charger or usb and the battery is not in the device
as long as my battery is in the device it does absolutely nothing, no sign of life!! not even a red led!
is there anything i can do about this? or do i need to send it away to t-mobile?
i really hope someone can help me with this one!
cheers ChilleCharlie
ps: normally when i press both the soft keys and the reset it would take me into bootloader mode, this doesnt even work no more!
i have been reading on this forum for 2 days now i just have no idea what this problem could be! can somebody please help me! i think it might be my accupack is that possible for a 2 weeks old phone?
is a herm100/200/300 device capable of booting without a battery in it?
cheers Charlie
ok here comes the test result, i was planning on shipping my phone back to the supplier but instead of this i tested my battery with a electrometer guess what? 0,04 volts are on my lipo pack!! OMG battery sudden death! never had this before in my life! now i know i can fix this battery pack did that before with some years old li ion and some months old lipo's but since i am under warranty i hell yea am gonna make use of it! this pack will be sent back to t-mobile in the meanwhile ill buy my ass a new one so i can use my phone
thanks for everything this website is great even thow i havent had 1 reply yet, thanks to you guys i got wm6.1 and will get it back running now! tytytyty btw i heard something about hardspl beeing more safe? i guess i should flash it onto my device or is that risky to do ?
Sorry, didn't see your post until today. Might not have been able to help anyway.. Glad to hear you sorted that out OK though..
As for Hard SPL, its a must to have on your Hermes before flashing as it will make it possible to recover from a bad flash. Its NOT a guarantee but it is a safety net to help when things can/do go wrong.
Would also suggest using the sd card method for rom flashing as its safer than via pc(Hard SPL takes about 2 secs to upgrade so I do that from the pc BUT you can do this via sd card too).
Welcome and happy flashing...
thank you for that information once i get my device running again it will be the first thing ill install even thow i dont think my problem is rom-related anyway, today my battery has been tested in a different phone, as i thought it was completely dead! also my phone has been tested with another battery... well my phone is completely dead as well! i think it has had a short circuit somewhere inside which would explain why it doesnt do anything with or without battery installed...
i do not know for sure thow.. but thank god i still have my warranty.. althow im not sure about this since my phone wasnt running official firmware.. but i guess that has nothing to do with hardware malfunction now does it? so ill be sending it back to the supplier tommorow damn i cant stand not having this device working
cheers chillecharlie

[Q] [Help]HS2 Wont start after new LCD

Hello all.
I have a HD2 that I havent done anything with, exept getting and installing some small programs.
No new ROM, no attempt to install W7, its more or like a Virgin.
However I made a fool of me, and managed to damage the LCD and finally got it changed. Got the Phone back from the company (MBlue Ltd in UK), and tried to start it up. But No....
Pressing ON, the phone vibrates, gives some light in the screen, sort of like you see its ON its a "white glow", but you dont get any more. The Jingle comes on, theres light in my buttons at the low end of phone, and NOTHING more.
I have had it on for long time, but nothing....
When I finally sendt the phone away, the battery was discharged, but as I have a new battery I put that in, and it charges and all.
Ive studied this thread: forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=638210
But as I CAN charge I fell that Im somewhat related but not fully in the same situation as the Original Poster there.
# Could it be that my phone somewhat has gotten overheated or anything else?
# Is the only and best solution to send it to HTC and let them look on it?
Ive tried to HARD and SOFT reset, but still nothing.
[EDIT] Connecting the phone to my PC, It is recognised and its recognised as a HD2 T8585
Looking more and reading more on the Forum I suspect theres a problem in the connection between the "fx-card" and the screen. (stupid way of saying it though)
Glad for any input here. Thanks in advance.

Does your computer synchronize with your phone(connecting to activesync/mobile device center)? Then it is booted in Windows Mobile, the possibility is that the screen is broken then.
I thought the Screen might not be properly connected, or broken yes.
I better get in contact with the repair company.
But if other too have opininons, please bring em on... ;-)
Returned to repairplace, they fixed it.
My best guess is thy didnt check their own repair so they had to connect/fix something.

Good point, they're responsible for their repair: it is better this way because it's possible they damaged something while repairing and that part, if needs replacement, it should be their obligation, not yours!
