Storage card contains odd files - 8125, K-JAM, P4300, MDA Vario General

my min sd card has these files on there which I cannot delete and the titles have odd characters. I'd try formatting it but I dont have a card reader. is there any other solution?

you can format it on the device itself
and also a card reader cost like 10$ so not much of an expense

Try formatting your SD Card to FAT rather than FAT32
I had problems before with the SD card formated to FAT32 when WMP would suddenly stop recognising the micro SD card after a day or so of use. Reformatted to fat and havent had any problems since.
Thanks, i will try to format fat, but how can i do this if using my tytn, i dont have a external driver tu plug my micro sd or the adapter that comes with it.
I will try the program to

It nothing problem with your SD card. WMP just can't recongize your Micro SD card which contain hidden or system folder like "MSMETADATA". Just delete this folder and the WMP can search and add media files again.
WMP sucks.

In WMP in the library screen you select between the machine memory and the SD card memory by using the library drop down in the top left corner of the screen. Have you done this?

Storage shrinking when cutting & pasting within external SD card

So I’m trying to move videos on my external SD card to their own separate folders within the same SD card. But when I cut and paste, it’s not an “instant” transfer like it is in Windows, and my storage space shrinks after I’m done pasting what I cut.
The videos are no longer in the original space, they are in their own folders, but my storage capacity looks like I just added the files and not simply moved them.
Any suggestions?
Reboot. Media service needs to rescan.

Why sd card?

Sd card whats the point if most app/games are install internal memory. No option for adapted storage, the hack seems to do more harm than good. Whe i download a big game. Even when i transfer file to sd, most memory stay in internal. I see almost no use for it

Why this thread if you have no use of a SD Card?
SD cards are not just for game storage, people keep their personal videos and pictures on them and like the ability to swap between devices and take their pictures and videos along.

I've exhausted my internal storage with apps and app data so I wouldn't be able to take pictures and video if it weren't for the SD card. I also store movies and TV shows for areas where I have no data. I can also pop in my Phantom 3's micro SD Card and view it's 2K footage.
I've got a 200GB which I used the hack to adopt... No troubles at all. I would much rather have this setup than no expansion path and just 64GB onboard.

Any apps that should NOT-

be transferred to a micro SD card?
Personally, I transferred Facebook & Facebook Messenger to my SanDisk 200gig micro SD card and after doing so I clicked on my Facebook icon and my S7 Edge glitched & stuttered for a second and then went directly into boot loop. Even though I read online these two apps can be migrated to the SD card with the S7, and my phone easily made & recognized the transfer, something wasn't happy afterward.
Anyone else have similar experiences?

I personally don't transfer anything to SD card. It is slower than the internal memory. My SD card is for storage purposes only

So when you say Storage, you would be talking strictly photos, videos, music?
I ask because I am totally new to Android as well as having a SD card in a phone (having come from the iPhone world).
Thanks.

Yeah when I mean storage, literally EVERYTHING ELSE that isn't an app. Music, videos, pictures, documents, file back ups, pdfs, zip files to flash. It all goes on my SD card. Built in phone storage is for apps I download and whatever it stores in cache etc. I do have Spotify download offline playlist to my SD card as well. Any app that has it's own built in option to store downloaded data to the SD card, I'll do. There aren't many and it is normally just backups (SMS Backup Restore for example can back up all your texts and call log to external sd card).

SD card restrictions

Anyone experiencing difficulties with the SD card? Unlike N4, I find I cannot bookmark pdfs Adobe Reader located on the card. VLC is okay, but I'm not asking it to add or amend files on the card.
As an aside, can't get Adobe Reader to search for pdfs, not even on the internal storage. This too is different from the AR's operation in N5.
