How to switch between Latin and Chinese IME? - G1 General

Hi,
I'm running a ROM with HTC_IME (Latin keyboard) and HTC_CIME (Chinese keyboard with handwriting, PinYin, etc.).
Is there a way to switch between English and Chinese on the fly? The only way I have found of using the Chinese IME is to switch my whole Android Locale to Chinese.
Thanks

long press on the text-field where you gonna type and select input method...

Thanks! I didn't know it was so simple
Is HTC CIME supposed to work with Donut? I'm only getting FCs on my Sapphire with enomther's awesome 1.6 ROM :S

Danish keyboard on Android

Hi,
I have a WWE version of Android and would like to install the danish keyboard from the danish version af HTC Magic. Is it possible to transfer the keyboard from the Magic to my unit?
I have the Danish version but haven't got a clue on how to port apps as I'm a complete Android noob, so if some one here with some experience could advice I'd be happy to assist. In the meantime you could do a search in the Market for "Scandinavia" and Install the Scandinavian keyboard + the Danish dictionary

Hey,
As you know, there is an hardware-keyboard in the HTC-TOUCH-PRO-2.
How can I map the hardware-keys to the virtual ones ?
You can download the WVGA version here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=174072&d=1239186309
Hey,
Thanks for your reply..
I have download this version already to my HTC.
I see the virtual-keyboard both in english and hebrew (my first language).
My big problem is that I can't find a way to make my hardware-keyboard to work with that.. i.e. I can't find a way to map a key (for example) to change language from english to hebrew or the character "A" to "ש" (like "sh" in my language).
Is there a way to map the hardware-keyboard to use the virtual one ?
THANKS!
This is great! Should solve my problem on number keypad appearing out of no where.
Just 1 question, how to make this into my default keyboard? Seem that after reboot, it will go back to Qwerty KB.
Ok... found the answer to my own question. This will help to change default keyboard: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=977148&postcount=1. Delay sound be set 40-50 secs.

[Q] Question for ROM Chef's

Hi, first sorry for my english.. English isn't my first language
I bought a HD2 in Singapore last December. I guess my HD2 has HTC WWE ASIA ROM. My HD2 Software Information:
Os Version : 5.2.21869 (21869.5.0.82)
Manila Version : 2.5.19211619.0
ROM Version : 1.48.707.2 (71294) WWE
ROM date : 11/09/09
Radio Version : 2.05.51.05_2
Protocol Version : 15.28.50.07U
This is my default HTC keyboard
As you can see, I have chinese input symbol "中"
If I select that symbol, my keyboard will be like this
If I press one of the button (in this screenshot, I press "A"), there will be some Chinese word suggestions pop up
If I select the up arrow symbol beside the keyboard icon in bottom taskbar, I have these options
This is my Test Input Settings
My Question is, are there any ROM that have this kind of input method (the english-chinese support)?
If there aren't, can someone teach me how to get that input method? I really like custom ROM but I'm afraid I can't read/write chinese characters as I can do with my default ROM.
I asked this because yesterday I flashed my XPERIA X1 to Itje Touch-IT Black Leo Landscape with Manila 2.5.1922 WWE and found out that his ROM can't read/write chinese (chinese characters displayed as square symbol). I don't have the chinese input symbol either in my keyboard.
Thank you for reading my question
I hope someone can help me with this problem.
Anyone? Please help me with my problem.. thank you

With demand!!!!
According to the HTC Asian WWE manual pages 115-117: QWERTY is a full onscreen QWERTY keyboard layout similar to a desktop PC keyboard.
PinYin (available by country)
PinYin lets you use the Roman Alphabet to enter Chinese characters.
Stroke (available by country)
Stroke lets you write Chinese characters based on the stroke order of the character.
Handwriting (available by country)
Handwriting lets you use your finger (by sliding it onscreen) to write Chinese characters. Slide your finger to write and then lift your finger to enter the character and show candidate characters based on the strokes you have made.
ZhuYin (available by country)
ZhuYin lets you use Mandarin Phonetic Symbols to enter Chinese characters.
CangJie (available by country)
CangJie lets you use CangJie to enter Chinese characters.
Onscreen navigation pad
Use the onscreen navigation pad for onscreen directional control.
Maybe you could try downloading the English Asian ROM from HK?

Thank you for your reply. Do you mean I can try to download official HK ROM? I already have a suitable official Asia ROM for my HD2. I'm looking for custom cooked ROM with the same input method as my default ROM.
I do not know English, so using Google translate, the lot included! I finally found it, give your address:http://bbs.htcppc.com/thread-28439-1-1.html

I doubt you will find a cooked English ROM with Chinese support, at least not so soon. The type of support for Chinese in the Asian ROM apparently depends on the locality in Asia where you bought it. I know the HK Asian ROM is supposed to have support for both Simplified and Traditional Chinese, which would give you more input options. I believe you can find the ROM in the XDA-WIKI, and also some of the stickies on the first page of the Leo ROM development forum.
so.. up to now there aren't any custom WWE ROM that support chinese characters without installing CE-Star or Sunglobe? Can I extract the keyboard from my default ROM and do some modification in custom ROM so I can get the chinese characters in custom ROM I want? (I'll ask the chef for permission to do this first)

Well.. you know that you have to pay for CE-star.. I don't want to pay for that.. All I want is to get my default chinese input method in custom WWE ROM

XT9 Problems

Just upgraded from a Htc magic to a HTC Legend and found something that bothers me..
when i choose english menu language the XT9 dictionary for my sms switches to english too and i can't turn it to my desired language (in this case swedish)
when i check the menu for switching to any other language for my xt9 i can't find any other than english no matter what menu language i use.
But the strange thing is that if i choose swedish menu language, the XT9 also changes to swedish.
so is there any way for me to use english language in the menus and still have the XT9 set to swedish?
i have a non-rooted, non-branded Htc Legend bought at 3-stores in Sweden..
Thx

[Q] French QWERTY Keyboard on HTC Stock Froyo

Hi everyone,
I would like to have a French QWERTY layout with the HTC IME keyboard.
From what I heard, it's a AZERTY keyboard with the HTC stock Froyo.
The phone can be in French Canada locale but that doesn't matter, I think it's linked directly to the HTC Touch Input as another third party keyboard can do this.
But I want the stock HTC keyboard on the stock Froyo (3.15.405.3)
If anyone has an idea it will be very appreciate! Thanks!
Because nobody answer, I will ask another question:
When Virgin will release the update to Froyo, will it be possible to extract the Froyo HTC IME and install it on the stock HTC ROM? Because the Virgin Canada one will have the QWERTY layout for the French language. So I just want to know if you think it's possible, and if yes, how can I do that (extract an APK)
Thanks!
The Gingerbread keyboard on the Market doesn't have that issue.
Install that and the French language pack
