Screen color problem when restoring backup after ROM upgrade - Touch HD General

My problem started yesterday after restoring the backup i had made with Sprite Backup 6.5.4 built 8 before the ROM upgrade. When the ROM upgrade was finished everything looked OK but after the backup restoration was finished the device was restarted and everything appeard in 8 color or something like that, the only way it got fixed was when i made a call and the screen went off after the call when i turned it on again everything was looking ok, but every time i restart the device everything looks 8 color again and gets fixed when i make the call. I also noticed that if the screen doesn't go off when i make the call it doesn't get fixed.
*The ROM upgrade was downloaded from the official site of HTC Europe http://www.htc.com/europe/SupportDownload.aspx?p_id=179&cat=2&dl_id=533
*The backup was made with migration option on and restored with migration Level 1 option when prompted "Use Level 1 if you are restoring to the same device but different ROM versions" it said.
So i don't think the problem is with the ROM but when i restored the backup file some driver file or system file was overwritten and messed up the graphic settings.
If someone has the same problem and have fixed it please reply, this bug really breaks my nerves.
In the files attached you can see how a picture should look and how it looks on my Blackstone screen.

this is most definitely a flash rom problem
it has been discused under rom threads, but i can't remember now which one
i suggest to read the dummies guide and reflash your rom respecting all instructions
good luck!

Be very careful when using backup software. When restoring information from a backup, you are restoring old registry settings when may be incompatible with new rom. I only use backup tools like this for contacts/emails etc. Not for anything else. Best backup tool for restoring apps, games registry tweaks, settings etc is SASHIMI
Basically you have upgraded your device to a newer rom which is most likely based on a different build, manila version or from wm6.1 to wm6.5..........and when you perform a restore you are replacing the new registries with older non-compatible registries which is most likely causing your issue.
If you perform a hard reset all colour issues will have gone.

SitRep: the screen gets back to normal colors if i turn it off and on, not just when i make a call, so my mistake.

I have the same problem. I flashed the official ROM update and restored files using SunnySoft Backup Manager. I find that I can restore the colours to their normal state by quickly switching off and back on at the first password screen.
It's a bit of a pain but does not seem to be otherwise detrimental. It's better than having to re-install my software from scratch.

SD backup between ROM updates

Hi!
I want to backup to SD before I update ROM. Is it OK to restore from SD with different OS and Radio versions? My friend did it and it seems to work fine, but I don't know what features and/or fixes I may miss if I do that.
Thanks
I did this when upgrading to ROM 3.15.15 and the only thing that strikes me as odd is that my media-player was reverted back to version 8.0 whilst ROM 3.15.15 has version 8.5 installed.
A way around this is to delete the media-player before you use SD-Backup and do the ROM update after that. Then use the restore option from SD-Backup to get your user data back. Works perfect for me.

idiotic question about flashing and reported ROM versions....

Hey,
a while ago I flashed from 1.48 to 1.66. After that, the soft reset bootup screen, bootloader, and after a hard reset it will report my device as running 1.66.
But as soon as I use SPB backup, it changes the "device information" entry to 1.48. Soft reset bootup screen still reports 1.66.
I didn't think too much of it really -- mostly because I figure this would be a good way for me to know what my original ROM version is anyways.
Until I installed a new radio ROM with CustomRUU. The program detected my device as a 1.48 device, not 1.66.
My concern is that this may mean some restrictions with regards to flashing in the future.
So...is there any way to change this? Do I need to change it at all?
when you change rom you shouldn't restore registry in the same way as you do after a normal hard reset.
I don't use them myself so I can't advise further but that's the reason.
its unlikely to cause many serious problems, being a standard official upgrade.

Yeah. SPB Backup has a restore mode called "force ROM upgrade mode" and I would've thought that that would be sufficient.
It's been stable otherwise though so I'm not too concerned. Just find it interesting that the ROM version is being reported by data stored in the volatile RAM rather than the ROM itself.

Hard reset

Can anyone tell me if this will wipe any updates etc that have been done to the phone by the phone company?
my phone forgot the lock code so i had to do a hard reset, since then the phone has been freezing quite often, mainly when sending/recieving texts if you change the orientation while typing.
at the moment its either wait 2 minutes for it to sort itself out or just restart sense which is now becoming annoying.
any help appreciated
it also wont play the h.264 recordings i have made on the phone, i just get a black screen that says loading :/
well i have figured out it is definately related to the orientaion of the phone, i cannot turn the phone on its side when sending texts or using the web browsers or it will just lock up or slow to a crawl.
p.s. somone just please reply so i know i aint getting ignored cos my posts seem to be lol
Hmmmm...
Is the issue only occuring since you performed the hard reset and not before?
Have you tried reinstalling any updates you had before the reset?
Do you have a lot of msg's in your inbox?
updates are usually stored in root of phone
have you installed any new cabs or roms ??
if you've not installed anything new another hard reset may be in order just to re-syncronize phone
only help I can give at mo

Yeah it will. it is like doing a windows system restore using the restore discs that came with your pc. Personally i would look at updating to a newer rom if you haven't already got a 1.66 or 1.72 based stock rom. You could always look at a custom rom. I use energy 23569 and i haven't had any problems with it. Also the energy roms include a newer version of sense that is included with the new TMOUS roms and it appears to be less buggy
thanks for the replies guys,
it was fine before the reset but it did slow a little in landscape mode but nothing anywhere near what its like now, key presses had a slight delay and now they are like a 5 second delay....portrait mode is perfect.
i always delete messages so my inbox is empty, i never applied any updates prior to the reset, i assumed virgin did it all for me.
i have only installed a few tweaks but the main change is bsb tweaks, i'm now using the latest version where as i was using the prior version before the hard reset but this has only started happening about a week after i installed it.
rom version is 1.66.351.1 (76641) WWE
rom date 03/03/10
manilla version 2.5.19211619.0
OS version 5.2.21869
radio version 2.07.51.22_2
i want to use a custom rom or atleast update to newer one but how will i put it back to the stock rom? the phone has some locked items from virgin installed, they will know if those are not there.
No they won't. Just say you removed them by hand because they were of no purpose to you.
If you install a custom rom on your unbranded, unlocked (the phone virgin supplied you is exactly the same as what you would pay for standalone except for the software extras) Leo it will be easy to install a stock rom. just flash it and then remove HSPL3 in favour of the stock spl (1.42 i think).
Your manilla/sense version is actually very old. There are newer versions about (2015 and 2016) that have been developed for the TMOUS devices but as HTC neglect the UK we haven;t been given the officially yet but most of the new custom roms include them.
If you do stay stock try installing LeoCPUSpeed V4 and chainfire's 3D Driver Patch V2. They will improve the speed of the phone in general and you may find the typing lag goes away completely

Onix Rom Problem on P3452

Hello everyone on XDA
I write because I need your help as myself can not find the cause of my problem or the original forum rom
I always use Onix currently Rom Realise 13 when flashing the rom and do not install anything, everything works fine
but I would like to use the M2D 2.0 and in the same forum of the Onix is a link where is the recommended manila
I do not install anything apart from M2D, do not install or use a program that normally and still gives me the error when you start the phone, it takes a lot more compared to the time of initiation of the newly installed rom
I apply a hard reset, do not install the M2D, install my normal programs, including Mobile Shell ... everything works OK for a while
in the course of a couple of days, having turned off the cel a few times and couple of starts the same startup problem
when I start talking about the error is that installing the manila or not, I always end up with boot error, when the phone does not start one and only displays a message saying k
"The device can not start just because they turn off the device incorrectly ....."
I think more than anyone knows that startup error ...
I use the rom Onix because they are the only ones that give me problems with my simcard STK service
I hope someone takes the time to give me an idea as me and I ran ...
and even restore the original rom for my P3452, reverted to the CID unlock, flash rom again realize Onix 13 and still gives me the exact same problem
please need help here ... they would appreciate much
Greetings to all

[Q] HD2 Radio cause crashes?

Hi,
I'm looking for a little advice/guidance. I have flashed windows 7 on my HD2 thanks to the wonderful guides on these forums. It wasn't easy, but once i read through everything i think i got it right.
I flashed from a UK T-Mobile (stock) Radio Version: 2.05.51.05_2
Up to the lastest (?) version: 2.15.50.14
But at the moment i am getting constant crashes, lockups and the phone often fogets my settings like the date and time. I tried to flash back down to the stock version of the Radio which i downloaded from here, but the flash didn't take. It got to about 2% and then crashed. So i flashed back up to 2.15.50.14 (Thanks HSPL) but obviously i still have the same problem.
Could this be a problem with the radio or just the phone it's self? Should i work my way through all the radio's on the page to see if it stops the crashing or is it dangerous or a waste of time?
The phone will sometimes stick on the DFT screen and flash green occasionally. It requires a soft re-set to get working again. obviously when the phone crashes while in use, i must also do a soft re-set
I am downloading the stock windows 6.5 now to flash back in case i can't get it working.
Any ideas or help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
oh, i forgot. Can anyone confirm that this: RUU_Leo_HTC_WWE_1.48.405.2_Radio_Signed_15.28.50.07U_2.05.51.05_2_Ship.exe is the stock rom for my original? I would hate to re-load the wrong one and brick it.
Original Software
OS Version 5.2.21869 (21869.5.0.82)
Manila Version 2.5.19211619.0
Rom Version 148.405.2 (71294) WWE
Rom Date 11/18/09
Radio Version
2.05.51.05_2
Protocol Version 15.28.50.07U
I would consider:
Re downloading and flashing the radio again as, the Radio 2.15.50.14 works fine for me and others in the UK so unless its a poor download it should be OK
then if that fails, task 29 the phone, delete all partitions and reformat the sd card to primary partition fat 32 use the free version of EASEUS or similar and reload the stock rom, its available as a direct download from HTC as well as here
Thanks, I deleted it and put android on. I only had one problem it couldn't make calls! so i put the stock rom back on and even in wm6.5 the phone crashes when making a call. So i guess it's down to a hardware fault
I'm a bit annoyed i've only had the phone 1 day but i bought it second hand.
Just an update if anyone else has a similar issue.
I took it in to the repair shop and they said it was down to the screen so i'm getting it replaced. I'll edit my post when i get it back.
