new 02 pay as you go plan - Touch HD General

apparently 02 uk have a new pay as
you go price plan that offers unlimited internet an texts for topping up
15pounds a month went into my local branch an they confirmed yes the internet is unlimited so just wandering if you guys know of any better pay as you go deal cause I am not really worried about calls as texts and internet do me good .

The £15 is an introductory price.
It'll jump to £30 for unlimited after that.
You'd be better off with Virgin - they do unlimited texts and web for £20.

I'm on 02 Simplicy £19.58 a month for free internet, 600 calls, 600 texts, 12 month contract.
I signed up through QuidCo (after hearing about it on here), which then gave me £100 cashback = my phone bill is = £140 a year = £12 a month.
Given that I was on Orange £40 a month, and just three months into an 18-month contract (and then cancelled my contract due to T+C changes), I'm very pleased.
(Then karma came in the shape of someone spilling beer on my phone, meaning whatever battery I try lasts just six hours...)
I think the QuidCo deal has ended but there might be a new one again.

not really

yes thanks I know the price will jump up but if u sign on to the deal before 1 october or something then u will get the 15£ tariff but if u sign after then u start paying 30 so at the moment it does make sense cause I hardly call I just
text and use the internet on my phone

Hmm.
I read it as the first month is £15 but after that it's £30.
I could've mis-read it though.

I was in a very similar position ie Orange contract etc.
I got out of the contract and am now on O2 Simplicity approx £20/month 600 mins 600 txt choice of free bolt on. I chose unlimited internet.
My contract is only a 30 day rolling contract though. I seem to remember that signing up on the web gave 1200 txt though. I don't text too much so am not bothered about this.
I'm very pleased, great value and can cancel with only 30 days notice when a new phone comes out that catches my eye.

Comparing SIMplicity plans to PAYG is perhaps a bit of a waste of time.
The PAYG plans are aimed at people who, for whatever reason, are unsuitable for contracts - be it an inadequate credit score or just a complete lack of seld-control leading to ridiculously high bills.

Best / Discounted Tariff on Orange T-mobile for Hero

I'm looking for the best tariff for around the £25-30 mark for the hero. Anyone had any luck getting some discount?
I am a long term customer of orange for my sins! and have a 20% on my line rental. I rang last night and was quoted a upgrade price of £154! I got myself put through to retentions and had soon negotiated £32 contract for 18 months with 1200mins, unlimited text, 500mb data, magic numbers and of course 7 days return policy, there is def room for negotiation, apparently the phone staff can do more than the shops as well.
There should be more room.
I already had the 20% plus I had £5 off web save for panther 45.
Now I have 25% and the web save - for the same mins, txt and data as you, but paid nothing for the phone.
actually ordered one off the tinterwibble orange site.
Dolphin 35 with 500MB data 12 month contract, handset is £100. Worked out all the costs and over all it was £540 about for the yr.
Well I moved house recently and so my card was declined because incorrect billing address on card from the deliver address (THANKS HSBC)
so i called up and re did the card and the womman got me the same deal with the handset at £50! (THANKS HSBC)
so all in all a 12 month contract (400 mins, 500 texts) is 34/month + data + 50 quid handset. so about £510 for the year. which is only about £110 over the sim free price.
Obviously better than getting a pay as you go sim.
Ummm i aint sure what to do now...
Was gonna get a sim free for £400 but the deal above looks rather guuurd...
I didnt want one from Orange cos i thought it had there logo on the front of the phone... but it seems its on the back.
Ummm got some thinking to do...
Would make it easier paying it over 12 months

That's cool, I was going to get sim free for £400 but thank you for your post.
I'm now going to go with Dolphin 35 for £32.31 (12 Months contract) 400 mins and 300 texts.
So it works out at
Total 12 months contract: £387.22
Handset Price: £97.50
Total: £485.22: £85.22 more than sim free price
I'm going to pop the sim out that comes with it and stick the Dolphin 40 sim that i'v already got.
Thank you mate, you have saved me from coughing up £400 in one go

27 x 6 = 162

Great deal on 12 month contract with T-Mobile and Touch HD

I've been looking for the cheapest way to get a Touch HD recently but I'm worried I'll want something better if it comes along in the near future so i didn't want to get tied into a massive contract. I found these great deals from MobilePhonesDirect
http://www.mobilephonesdirect.co.uk/Brands/HTC/b509/n447/p3185.aspx
They're offering:
150mins
150text
Unlimited web (1GB)
£29.36pm on a 12 month contract paying £156.99 for the phone.
I admit it's not great if you use it to talk a lot but if you're a minimal talker like me it's a pretty good way to get the phone and not get locked into an 18 or 24 month contract. That way you can be ready for this time next year when the HTC Leo has come down to an affordable price
or
500mins
375text
Unlimited web (1GB)
£39.15pm on a 12 month contract paying £79.99 for the phone.
Or of course you could just do what I'm thinking of doing and going Sim only.
http://www.t-mobile.co.uk/shop/mobile-phones/sim-card/pay-monthly/pay-monthly-solo/solo-20/allowances/
T-Mobile Solo20
600mins
Unlimited text
Unlimited web (1GB)
£20pm on a 30 day rolling contract and just buy the phone for about £250 from Ebay. You can also get £20 cashback for signing up for the Solo20 with Quidco
That way you can upgrade whenever you like.
Decent plans except texts! So easy to go over.
375 not enough That's like 12 a day. How much do you text?
I actually rang up Orange my current provider and quoted this Solo20 deal to them saying I wanted to leave and they basically matched it.
Orange Dolphin15
400 mins
unlimited text
unlimited internet (500MB)
£15pm with rolling 30 day contract.
So I just stayed with them in the end.
It's always worth ringing up and seeing what your current company will give you if you can quote actual numbers to them from competitors
I have started on panther 45
1200 minutes
Unlimited text
Unlimited internet bundle
After six month Orange has reviewed my contract and offered
Dolphin 25
200 minutes
Unlimited text
Unlimited internet bundle ( which stayed on 400mb)
Nothing unusual to send onver 100 texts, but was very pleased with offer from Orange, esp. i wasn't asking for it. How cool is that?
Yeah I know, I average between 100-200 texts per month. But for the sake of paying an extra £10 per month on a contract just to get more texts I think I'd rather risk it and just pay the small amount that I went over every month.
Remember £10 = 83 texts

Yup, but its not to some people.
I was just looking at the options of this rather than buying sim free. With sim free, you still buy the phone and pay your existing line rental (or payg) but if you can get it £40 more with minutes / internet, surely it must be worth it that way and you pay monthly rather than in one chunk.
Just thinking of alternatives.
I'm going for the 12month Combi 30 + Web n Walk I think
Makes me said I cant get this phone in the US... Why must the US be so far behind with phones!!
If you order online from Vodafone then the phone is free and for £40 a month you get 1200 minutes, unlimited texts, "unlimited" Internet, and unlimited calls to UK landlines. (I think it's 1200 minutes anyway - it's not entirely clear if the extra 300 you get for ordering online is included in the 900 figure). £45 a month gets you an extra 300 minutes. This is on an 18-month contract: £5 per month less for a 24-month contract.

Yeah, but when another tasty phone comes out in 6 months, you can sell the SIM free one and buy it. I've been a fan of buying outright for a few years now, and it's really nice not being tied to a service provider. It basically means you get a SIM because of the service, not the phone they offer. As well as that, I can cancel my "contract" with a month's notice, at no cost.
Each to their own, but now that I buy I couldn't go back to a contract unless there was something VERY special out there!
Anyway, I got my HD2 from Expansys.com. It was the usual £500, but comes with £30 of Expansys vouchers. Should be delivered tomorrow

Yes, but you can you do that on contract too: sell your contract phone, use the money to buy another one SIM-free, and then carry on using your contract SIM. That way you don't have to pay any money up-front for the first hand-set - the cost is spread over 18 months, or two years. If the first one you buy is SIM-free then you have to come up with £500 in cash up-front. If the first one is on contract then, when you buy the second, you've got the resale value of the first handset to offset the cost.

Thats exactly my point.
I can get the phone for £511.99 with a contract for 12 months and get some free minutes. Then I can still sell the phone at any time and buy another, but I still get free minutes.
You're paying whatever a month for your month by month contract and then £500 on top for the phone, which works out more.
If you're sim free is £20 a month and you sell your phone after 6 months, you've still paid £120 in line rental, which is more than I'll be paying for 12 months line rental and a phone.
£511.99 (12 months) vs £620 (6 months)
Got an upgrade from Vodafone web site as the following:
12 months at £25
phone £100
total cost: £400
100mins / Unlimited Internet (500 Mb fup)
Have been using the internet a lot and have not yet been warned or charged by vodafone regarding the FUP.
Have you got a link for this offer please?
For the upgrade, you need to log in to your VF account and then select upgrade option (must be within the last 70 days of your existing contract).
Then they require you to fill in a form and if you are allowed to upgrade, you are forwarded to upgrade section to pick a phone. HD2 is not there by default so you need to view all phones and select HD2. I think before doing so, you need to select the duration from the top. For me the phone showed up for £100 on existing contract. I heard some people get different quotes and would like to hear what others get.
On the confirmation emails, it is specified as 12 months so the deal seems to be right.
However, this morning also received an email from vodafone back orders apologising that due to the demand it is out of stock and they are expecting new stock in 7-10 days. If it is true that they had stock and it sold out, perhaps they have prioritised new contracts as opposes to upgrade deals like I had.
It is a little disappointing but the deal seems to be worth the wait.
Just ordered mine from Vodafone. Apparently, they had 500 phones come in today, and there were 53 left when I placed my order.
Got a pretty good deal I think, especially as I'm a new customer.
900 minutes, unlimited text, unlimited landline, unlimited internet
18 month contract, £35/month.
Phone should be here on Monday. Well chuffed.
Bagpuss.
Hi Bagpuss,
Did you phone to get this deal or order online? Contact number please......
Ordered direct from Vodafone via their sales line. 08080 408 408.
Spoke to a nice lady called Emma Morgan.
Initially was told that the lowest price for a free phone was £40/month on an 18 month contract. Kept insisting that I needed them to match the deal I was currently getting from O2, which was 1200 minutes for £35/month. Eventually, she agree on the £35/month, but couldn't match the minutes. I was happy with that.
I've heard reports of some new Vodafone customers getting the phone for free on a 12 month, £35/month contract, but I'm a bit sceptical as that doesn't even cover the cost of the handset.
Bagpuss.
Thanks will try them on Monday..........

are vodafone ripping you off aswell??

my latest bill is £58!!! im paying the £35 p/m contract and have insurance. on the first bill they sent, the contract didnt say i had free internet so my dad rang up to sort it out and ended up paying £5 p/m extra for internet...even though the contract i paid for when i ordered the phone said you got free unlimited internet so even with them stealing another £5 off me a month for unlimited internet it should of only been £50 at the most. but no, im still being billed 40p for the internet on random occasions, so they racked up £7 of internet charges i owe them. fair usage policy is 500mb and i only used 280mb.
sorry for wall of text, just need to vent my rage
wtf vodafone, wtf...
Is the bill for more than 1 month? I know for me it was to cover a month and a half as they have changed the billing method...
I'm getting my PAC anyway as I've had other billing issues with them, just make sure you check the breakdown thoroughly!!!
review your contract. if it says you get unlimited net included then they have no right to charge you more.
I'm on £35 a month with Vodafone for 600 mins, unlimited texts and internet. my first bill was exactly £35.
on what date did you start your contract? Vodafone will always renew it on the 1st of the month. so say you take out a contract on the 20th, and bearing in mind they charge a month in advance. you'll pay for the 10 or so days from the 20th till the 1st, and the following months worth.
hope that makes some sense!
forgot to add, virgin mobile offer 900 mins, unlimited texts n internet for £30 a month! more for less with them.
Vodafone have been pretty awful at applying my data package, ive had monthly bills of £182, £168 and £380! All sorted and credited back, but quite scary when the bill comes in!
i got it basicly the first day it was on sale from their website, i got the web exculsive offer of 900 mins, unlimited internet and texts for £35 p/m even though we paid by phone, as my dad didnt want to use his debit card online... the guy said the contract was the same as what was online! on my contract it says i dont get the free unlimited internet or even any internet included :| hope i make sense, its late and im tired sorry.
I always found it misleading they advertised to consumers with prices excluded from tax.
just like UPC tv company here advertises for phone/digital TV/Fiberglass internet for only €40 a month. But they don't tell you that you still have to pay the basic TV charges of €18 minimal and that all the prices are ex VAT. You end up paying €90 a month.
i got a letter the other day saying the first payment would be taken out 15 days from inserting the sim card and that i would be billed 1 month in advanced or somthing...
i hate vodafone, wish i'd waited a week and gone with virgin (didnt realise they were getting the phone )
Ring Customer Services ASAP
I had a similar problem- looked at the web offers but ordered over the phone. The phone rep didn't pass all the correct tariff details to the accounts people.
Remember, you have a contract, agreed verbally to include Mobile Data. They are legally bound to honour that, and CS should be helpful in making sure it is correct, and removing the extra £5 charge.
Your plan is £35 per month and that is what they should charge. I believe the insurance is an extra £10 per month for the HD2, but that is a rip-off as it seems they won't replace like with like if anything goes wrong.

Because of this, I would recommend firstly phoning VF and if that fails, a hand written letter to VF, and if that fails contact OFCOM and all this to continue paying £35p/m with unlimited internet. What has happened is misselling of the contract, you may have got it from a third party rather than direct from VF, however VF should alos uphold your complaint.
How long has it been since you had it delivered? if it is less than 7 days (i'm guessing not as you've had the bill), then under the distant selling rules you can get a refund (minus usage/linerental for those 7 days).
With regards to the bill being so high VF do take the a month in advance so the first month is always more expensive.
I on-line ordered an HD2 from VF on a 2 year business contract at 700 mins, unlimted texts and internet.
My first bill arrived for an unknown number with a service charge type item and the rest on PAYG basis.
They didn't fully commute the data for my porting of my retained number for some reason, so it didn't show on that bill.
It's seemingly all been sorted, and I'm now on 900 mins per per month, but yet to receive my first bill for the one and only number i wanted them to port across. i await the first bill with much interest!
Oh, and i cancelled my direct debit until I'm 100% sure they corrected all of thier errors!
Man i want to be with Virgin..!! VF sucks.! how can i get out of my contract
Read the topic by Virgin Mobile users like me.
The data speeds are generally quite poor. I'm thinking of returning my HD2 because of it.

O2 HD2 price increase wtf!!!

I am ordering my hd2 form o2 next week and just looked on there site to check its in stock and nosited that they have changed the packages they they will do and also put the phone up by £50
why not do what i did and order it through a 3rd party online. you wont have to pay £50 and your billed direct by o2 anyway.......

It's worth paying the extra on O2 though virgin/tmobile network is utterly useless compared to O2...
One bad thing about O2 though... their online stock monitoring means bugger-all... you have to call up to find out if they have stock... I ordered mine online and it took them 1 1/2 weeks to get it to me, despite it stating "in stock" on the website when I ordered and throughout the period I was waiting, when their phone staff were telling me it was out of stock with no projected arrival date...
Just check on the website... seems their plans have gone up in price by roughly 5 quid/month... yikes! I got 600 mins/1000 texts/unlimited data for 35/month with 100 for the phone... they're now claiming unlimited texts, but who uses more than 1000 a month?
Ouch! That is a big price rise! I got mine 600 Mins/100Texts/Unlimited Data for £35 with a free phone (upgrading)!

30 a month 24 month contract 600 mins 500 texts. the day before they wanted 100 for the phone on same terms.
haggle em. its well worth it.
posting this from my hd2 now lol. it rocks!
igot mine on virgin £25 a month 500mins 3000 texts 1gb internet usage phone cost £79 and thats on a 18month contract thats £529 over the 18months the phone its self cost about £500 so its a good deal
What Gav said - I got mine from o2 price matched to T-mobile (i think) meant I got the phone for free on an upgrade - £35 a month for 600 mins, too many texts to use and unlimited interweb access.
yes i heard about this, because the are really low on stock in o2 for that phone, i hv ordered mine online 2 months ago and Im on 24 months, 25 pounds a month, 600 + 200 minutes, unlimited text and unlimited data with free phone, but I was upgrading so maybe it is dif than signing on new contract.

which is probably why the price increase, , ,, also to prime the market for a 'sale - price drop on hd2!' in a few months.

Hi.
get the phone sim-free on either the Orange or Vodafone network from zero cost, go here: mobiles.co.uk
With it being sim-free you can get latest ROM+updates from HTC directly. Besides really good offers on at the moment. Have got 3 HD2's from this company NO PROBLEMS with any of the three handsets.
O2 and Vodafone network are messing about with HD2 because of Apple pressure (iphone). Orange is also best network for HSPDA connection.
well... hearing this, I've got quite good upgrade deal dec. last year. £35 per month plus free web bolt on, 18 mths contract and hd2 for about 30 quid.
Virgin also here
£25 month
18 months
500 min
waay too many texts
and 1 gb internet
+ £79 for the phone
Best deal!
mines 24 months
800 mins
unlimted texts
unlimted virgin to virgin
1g of net
30 quid a month
and fone was free
Just upgraded to HD2 today with o2 and got 1200 minutes, unlimited texts, unlimited data (web use) and free o2 to o2 calls for £40 per month on a 24 month contract and the free phone will be delivered Tuesday.
Was going to switch to T-Mobile if they could not give me a good deal as T-Mobile were offering 1200 mins, 500 texts, unlimited data, and an unlimited land-line calls bolt-on, on a 24 month contract with free phone for £35 per month, but unfortunately there coverage is not to good here where I live.
It seems we have all paid way different prices. Mine was £50 for the handset, and then 02 18 mth contract @ £35 a month, for 600mins, 500 text and unlimited data connection.
My turn...(upgrade deal)
O2 small business regular user 24mth contract
