Where can I get HTC software that originally came with my device :P? - Touch CDMA General

I have an HTC vogue, with a blank WM6.5 rom on it. I don't want to use a custom one, or brew my own, I like this ROM.
I do, however want the HTC software that originally came with my device (such as the audio manager, camera application, bluetooth manager, comm manager). I have no idea where to get these things. Can someone point me in the right direction ?

I know that generally speaking that software is usually bundled in with the ROM. very few of the HTC apps are available in .cab format. personally i would suggest checking out the ROM's that NFSFAN has cooked up. LOVED his WM 6.1 and 6.5 ROM's before i headed to the Android side of things. Hope this helps!

do some searching on here and ppcgeeks, i know ive seen them before.

If all else fails, look up some old opal dumps or search for qvga htc camera on google  and goodluck with your search friend

cant you get it from HTC ? I know theres a 6.1 rom for download then just add the office apps ?

This one works for vogue: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=355587

looks like a nice tool, but after I installed on my Ameo I tried to use GSen Version 1.40.
But a window popup with following message :

mhh, doesn't run on Ameo ... and delete it ...

btw: I've now asked the developer why GSen is not running on Ameo ... hope I get an answer..

Hey,
I've installed it on my HTC Advantage X7510 with WM6.! Professional, and I can confirm that it works.
When I'm in the today screen and I turn the PDA it does turn in Landscape and Portrait mode with no problem great at last it works.
Thanks for the link if anybody what's me to try anything please let me known.
Thanks
Gigino
I am happy for you gigino, but I am in the same boat as palmchen (have a X7500 with t-mobile WM6 ROM).
Perhaps the interface to the sensor is slightly different between WM6 and 6.1
I am sure it can't be that difficult to access it from WM6. Hopefully the developer will be able to implement it or give some clue which will assist some brainbox from this community in hacking this version to get working with WM6. In my eyes this is one of those killer apps.
I tried this on wm6.1, and had the same error message.
IMO the answer is simple: it works using HTC VUEFLO .dll. X7510 has those dll, x7500 doesn't!
In AP4 or AP5 it will work

For some it is a must have. For others, it is an annoyance and irritation.
only because we can't get it working!
Sorry guys, we doesn´t have these devices for testing.
We just was surprised about the info, our tool is working on HTC Advantage X7510.
Also we not know the reason why it is not working on HTC Advantage X7500.
Possible reasons:
- missing/different software driver
- different ROM/ACU version
- missing needed hardware
As i said, we cannot test because of missing hardware.

Not because of that. It was working all right.
I hated this auto rotate thing because 9 out of times the rotate happens against my wish, and it slows my device.
After the initial few minutes of novelty, I was already wanting to switch it off.

No, I don't, there are SOME dll, you can find it in the AP4 / AP5 ROM. I agree, the rotation is too slow and the screen rotation is useless and time consuming 90% of time. My brain is much faster in image rotation and my finger is slower than brain but acts only when needed

Thanks. As this is related. Does anybody know how to get the new email wizard called up instead of the old one?
I hope im not hijacking but I figured it was directly related. Why should someone install the new one when they can't do it without running a shortcut?
How do I upgrade Opera? It's quite a few thousand builds newer than the one I'm running, but the installer says that the old version cannot be uninstalled. If I just continue with installation, there's bound to be issues.

Not necessarily. It is almost identical, files wise. It shouldn't be an issue to uninstall it if you have issues. You prolly have opera cooked in, so it will never be able to be uninstalled.

It is to auto-rotate without the need for third party apps. There is an app called G-Config that configures the sensor for apps that aren't already supported.

HTC Footprints; possible?

Hi everyone,
I was wondering if the chefs could put the HTC Footprints into their roms?
I've noticed it that Footprint is only available on the newest HTC Cruise.
Altough most chefs uses the ROMS from Diamond2 (now) which doesn't have Footprints, do you think it would be possible to implement it into D2 Rom?
PS: i'm not sure to put it into the ROM dev-section, sorry if it's in the wrong section.

Hi all,
i'm new in Xperia world and this forum has been very helpfull for me...
I got manila TFL3D installed on my X1.
I tried to install footprint (not very clever, actually) without HD camera installed.
That does not work at all but the problem is not here : i've lost the text in a menu when i open a picture in TFL3D : the options/actions menu at bottom right is empty.
It opens the menu, i can click an action but i can't see the text ! (hard to select an anction without reading anything...)
I uninstalled footprint but it did not come back.... (and yes i've soft reset)
What can I do ? Except uninstall/reinstall manila ?
Thanks,
(sorry for my english i'm French...)

You referring to this? Nothing seems to happen after I tap on 'Menu > New' though. Did a soft reset, copied the HtcCameraUtility.dll to my Windows folder and checked my registry settings, and even tried installing gtrab's R3A CAMERA but still doesn't work. Something else I missed out? Or does it only work on Touch-IT? Btw, I'm on stock R3A.

yup. i've only tried it on roms with a htc camera built in, so I've no idea if it will work with stock and a cab.
using that cab, you dont need to copy htccamerautility as a working one is included, but it would be best to install the htc camera first..
what you can check is that the camera.exe in windows is not the SE one.. The SE is a dummy file to trigger CameraRunner.exe
[edit]
I've just reread what you posted... the R3a camera WILL NOT work, it needs HTC CAMERA..

Is it just any HTC camera? Or only those for Rhodium/Topaz? And if convenient, could you point me to where I could find it? Tried searching but couldn't seem to find any for Rhodium/Topaz.
By the way, I saw you mention in another thread that you use both the SE and HTC camera. You mean that's possible?
Edit: Found 2 versions of the Topaz camera, but after installing, got the error message below when I tried running the 'HTC Camera' program that appeared:
'The file 'Camera' cannot be opened. Either it is not signed with a trusted certificate, or one of its components cannot be found. If the problem persists, try reinstalling or restoring the file.'
Edit2: Btw, I did try installing the rhodium MHub.cab and also checked the 3 registry entries but still no use.
And by the way, I suppose the Rhodium camera not working is also why I can't launch the camera from the Photos and Videos tab in TF3D (using Daran's TF3DB3).

Thanks for your answer.
I got a stock rom for the moment. Maybe i'll change it in a few weeks, with everything working ! (hopfully)
The reason the HTC camera doesn't work is that it needs lots of support files, It's just easier to use one cooked into a rom..
If you really want core stuff from HTC devices to work on the X1 then use a cooked rom.. It's simpler, more efficient and you know it'll work...

Ya. Saw your post about Footprints in your ROM. And uh, ya, I did kind of see a mention of restoring to stock ROM, just that still had some things I still wasn't too sure about it (like what 'stock radio' is and where to get it). But guess I'd probably just give it a try.

Taskmanagement on HD2?

When I start a program on the HD2 it stays active untill I go to Setting - Other - Taskmanagement and deactivate all.
On my previous HD I had a setting where I could choose to deactivate the program when I choose the [x] on the upperright of the screen. Now there is no possibility to do such a thing and to go to [Setting]-[Other]-[Taskmanagement] each time is not my prefered way of working...
Does anyone knows how to do this on HD2?
Thanks!
I think there should be a taskmaneger settings where you can set on "x" button to close programs not just minimalize. I had it in my TP2 with leo rom i think.
nope, there isnt one.
you need to use the taskmanager

Showcase did not work on my HD2.
Leo (HD2) comes without HTC Task Manager and this is why you don't have the option to close apps by using "X"
You can install the HTC Task Manager by cab and you will get this functionality.

gps fix is made within in a minute.

I don't know the reason and don't see it causing problems. I'm using it on my ROMs and there are no problems with it.
Probably because HD2 has bigger RAM HTC has thought that it's better to leave apps open on the phone...this way they open faster
I don't have the cab, but you can search on the forums.

If you don't like Showcase, or for whatever other reason, another option is MobileSRC's Flipper (http://www.mobilesrc.com/flipper.aspx). It's got other features besides a task manager (you need to purchase the app if you want to use more than two features at a time), but I've found it works perfectly well as a free task manager.
I don't know how it'll work with the HD2, though, as I'm still waiting mine to arrive, but the app works fine with my TP2.
It's weird that HTC removed the Task Manager. Ok it's a "beast" and can run lots of apps at the same time, but the task manager was a nice way to close apps we don't want open.
This should work.

After a few tweaks, haks and fixes and some downloads, I was extremely happy of my HD , in fact the only real improvement in the HD2 to me seems to be the much faster CPU (which of course is not a little thing)
However there are a couple of major gripes (or just lack of aternative options) on the HD2 that I find particularly unnerving, prominent among which is the excruciatingly bad Kboard.
It's even worse than the one I've got on my HTC Hero which has a far smaller screen.
On the HD I had installed "FingrKboard" which I found simply excellent; is'nt there something similar that would work on the HD2?
Or maybe do you think that the same .cab file that worked on the HD's wm 6.1 will also work on the HD2 wm 6.5?
Second major problem with the HD2 is that I still have'nt been able to find a (good and possibly free) registry editor for it.
I have read about some very interested tweaks for the HD2 in the threads of the forum, but they all require the use of a registry editor, which one would you suggest?
And again: would I be able to install and use one of those I had on the wm 6.1 of my old HD(1) ?
And last (and probably least too): would "Gyrator" ,be installable and working on the HD2 as it did on the HD1?
No eh?
And do you know of another app that would make the screen turn from portrait to landscape with all apps?
Even if you could point to the solution to just one of my conflicts with the HD2 , you would have accomplished your Xmas good deed by making very happy a poor afflicted geek.
This is the way you might earn your place in heaven, you know ?

FingerKeyboard worked on WM6.5 on the HD1 and works on the HD2. I found it to be superior to the standard HTC keyboard.
There is also a cab file that reduces the sensitivity of the screen on the HD2. This is supposed to make typing a bit easier although I have not personally tried it.
For registry editing, I use PHM RegEdit. It's a free program.
I use Resco Explorer and once you've downloaded that (for free), download the registry editor add-in (both cabs on the Resco site)

Resco Explorer will eventuall need a key to fully register the program. I do however second Resco if you can buy it.

The registry editor stays unlocked though. I actually never use the Explorer part but you're right, that gets locked after a few days so you need to purchase it (if you want to).
Try Swype as a keyboard. I found it on this site and haven't looked back! It has an amazing input method and is not as over-sensitive as the native HTC keyboard. Check it out....

I second PHM RegEdit.
Simple, easy to use and free.
Thanx fellas.
I had both PHM regedit and fingerkeyboard because I had downloaded and installed them on my old HD(1) and Samsung Omnia i900 ( of which I got rid long ago) , now I have installed them on the HD2 and they work great.
I wonder which other win 6.1 apps will work on the big screen and win 6.5 of the HD2.
Dutty (one of my heroes) for exemple had to modify Cyberon voice dialer to get it to work on the HD2 because as it was the standard version would'nt play together with the HD2., so not all HD apps would be usable on the HD2.
I wonder how Gyrator would behave in the new environment.
Oh, and thanks very much for the link too, very interesting and useful.
I hope I'll be soon able of being of some help too.
BSB tweaks for screen rotation mate
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=589305
Thanx Carlos, I have already installed the awesome BB Tweaks and now I have also cheked the "show standard windows setting" box, but I still can't find the menu you uploaded with the screen turning option.
Where is it hidden?
Is there any particular option I should enable?
I have enabled nearly all of them anyway but hat option still eludes me.

Run BsB Tweaks and open the menu - Rotation is in there.
Hi there..
Dont mean to flame or anything like that.
But the title of the thread suggests that you arnt happy with the device.
So we start reading your post.
But its all just software features you lack or want to change.
And that does not really imply the hardware exclusive to the HD2.
@ Johncmolineaux
Thank you mate, I looked for it for 2 days, maybe I should wear my glasses more often.
@ Enonoid
I'm sorry if from my title you or anybody else got the impression that I was'nt happy with the HD2: I bloody love it man!
I just wished to find a few apps, progs and tweaks to which I got used with my old HD1 (which I loved too).
I also have an HTC Hero and a Nokia N97 ,which after Nokia changed camera lens, camera cover, GPS chip & software, installed ROM 2.0, optimized memory, and gave me for free one year subscription to the latest OVI maps for Europe, has become a great phone too; but the HD2 is my fav hands down, even though as an OS per se I like Andrid more than WM 6.5 (mainly because of the marketplace and the awsome free apps available).
One must be a brainwashed Apple fanboy not to like like the HD2.
Gyrator works fine on the HD2

Swype is the next generation keyboard, amazing. I am running it on the HTC Touch HD, although it will run much better on a capacitive screen, more sensetive the screen the better it will work.
Yes, Swipe rocks, but after BB tweaks adjusted the screen sensitivity of the standard kwerty, and the FingerKboard, they have become absolutely excellent too.
The only problem is that I can't put any of those in ladscape position.
I have tried to reinstall Gyrator but it does not seem to work on the HD2 it seems made for devices with styluses and resistive screens.
Did anyone find a way to type messages, notes, etc. in landscape?
