Bloody hilarious, mate

Is the newly leaked VZW xv6975 classified as a Topaz even though it's got a bigger screen than the Touch Diamond 2 sold outside the US?
If so, it shouldn't be lonely here much longer.

But google is the best place to start.... There aren't many topaz cdma users, so you must search the web to find content. I have looked for you guys to no avail.... There just aren't enough people using it yet.

Google.. yeah.. been there, done that..

I could also be the Leo.. seen here

Really it's Whitestone
Actually, it looks like Verizon will be using HTC's Whitestone platform in lieu of Topaz (http://www.wmexperts.com/verizon-imagio-whitestone-rumored-oct-6). It's been rumored that Sprint will be using Whitesone to replace the Diamond instead of Topaz.

Yes, we know that.. but we are tyrinig to figure out what the Whitestone actually is.
Is it a platform unto itself? is it a Blackstone? is it a Leo?

I think Whitestone is a code name for CDMA version of the Topaz. And the only reason it didn't get the Topaz name is because it actually has a bigger screen....so it needed a new coded name.

No...Warhawk is AT&T's code name for their US GSM Diamond 2 which will carry the name Pure when it is released. And Fortress is AT&T's code name for thier US GSM Touch Pro 2 which will carry the name Tilt2 whe it is released.
I know this is all very confusing especially when different phones that appear similar actually have different code names. But some of them are really just derived variations of an original other model.
So in essence a Topaz is a Diamond 2 (we all know this)...but a Whitestone is just a CDMA version of the Topaz with a larger screen. And a Warhawk is a Topaz or Diamond 2 with US GSM bands (and international bands) for AT&T.
I guess because the Whitestone actually represents a considerable differentiation in screen size from the original Topaz is why it deserved to have its own separate code name hence Whitestone instead of also being a Topaz. But now that we realize this I think it is okay to sort of consider the Whitestone as a mutated Topaz instead of a completely different generation device.
Recap: CDMA Topaz = CDMA Diamond 2 = Whitestone = Imagio

Ok... two more questions just to clarify... 1. Will the GSM version of the Topaz (Warkhawk) for AT&T have the same size screen of the Whitestone? 2. Will AT&T's version also support MediaFLO and have a similar kick-stand antenna like the Verizon Whitestone (Imagio)?
EDIT: Another question 3. Given that the Imagio is also a US Quad-band GSM phone, if it were unlocked, would I be able to use it with AT&T's wireless network and still somehow get the V-Cast service using MediaFLO?
See youtube videos of the Verizon Imagio below:

The AT&T Pure (Warhawk) will have a 3.2 inch screen
I'm not sure (I haven't read it anywhere) if MediaFLO will be included. My bet is that it doesn't. And according to the leaked picture today on WMexperts I don't see a kickstand so perhaps the answer is no antenna and no MediaFLO. I suggest investing in a Slingbox instead of paying for MediaFLO.

If you can figure a way to unlock it ...which I suspect someone will eventually figure out...then yes it will be able to be used on AT&T's network. But it may be limited to just EDGE and no 3G on AT&T (not saying for sure it won't work on AT&T 3G...just speculating). And as for getting MediaFLO service this will depend on changing the software possibly on the phone to allow you to get a MediaFLO account through AT&T with the software that Verizon puts on it for MediaFLO...both AT&T MediaFLO and Verizon MediaFLO software may or may not be compatible.
Not sure if I answered more questions than I left unanswered but I see where your thinking is taking you...but I still recommend the Slingbox approach and forget the MediaFLO. Perhaps when we start seeing ATSC-M/H finally come out we can have devices with free TV reception.
EDIT: Acually looking at the leaked AT&T Pure picture again more carefully I do see a kickstand !!!! It is hard to see because the kickstand is black but it is there seen very faintly in the picture. So perhaps it is an antenna and does have MediaFLO capability!

Name of CDMA Hermes?

Forgive me if this is blatently ovbious or under my nose, but what is the name of the CDMA flavor of the HTC Hermes?
I currently own a Verizon Wireless XV6600 which is known as the "HTC Harrier" because it is the CDMA version of the "HTC BlueAngel" which is the GSM version. Great phone! Love it to death!
I've been waiting patiently for Verizon to come out with the XV6800 because from what I can see about it, it is simply awesome over the 6600/6700. Additionally, my New-Every-Two promotion kicks in during this June. I'd love to take home a XV6800 at that time. I want to know what this phone is really called so if I have the urge to buy it branded as an HTC or other carrier, I will know it will work with the Verizon network.
Thanks in advance!
its called the titan ... not to be confused with tytn...
Thanks for that clarification.
If that's the case, then what is the difference between the HTC Hermes and the HTC TyTN?

It is NOT the same it is called the HTC p4000 or Titan, has a different chip (400mhz Qualcomm) a bigger memory, and the keyboard opens to the right, it is already out with Telus. See the link below which states it comes with WM6 but it does not, it has WM5 installed.

Unless they've done something drastic, unlock and you're ready to rock'n'roll.
Wasn't the Touch Dual in America supposed to be carrier free?
If so, both T-mobile and AT&T should work.
It is going to be sold unlocked... But the T-Mo US uses different bands for their 3G then the ATT. Does anyone know if the US Touch Dual will work with T-Mo 3G data network?

Odd that the picture shown has the 16-key keyboard, not the 20-key. Everything I've read says only the 20-key is coming to America - isn't that right?
Actually, some Best Buy pictures show 16 key and some show 20 key.
I wrote HTC to ask and they said there is no Touch Dual for the USA (helpful).
just got back from local best buy and picked it up and it is the qwerty 20 key
I called a few local Best Buys here in Los Angeles, but they all say its not in?
I have to say I dont know if I belive them or not... Anyone in SoCal had any luck?
Just picked up the touch dual from my BB. However, will this work with a mac?
this is so annoying. Once again, Chicago metro area - none on hand, non in distribution. What's the point of these announcements anyhow if they can't be fulfilled - may as well be "Diamond available at Best Buy now" for the effectiveness it has.
Riddle me this - is the old touch that has been available gray market up til now the same unit? If it is - and since I'll be ripping my rom apart anyhow -- I may go back to my fave gray marketers.
Hyper: not without jumping through hoops. As a mac guy by choice, and PC guy by work - it's too much grief. Look for third party software if it's your only choice, or install activesync in your fave windows emulator.

Nope, it's not the same. The on that's been available for a while is tri-band, this one is quad-band with US 3G. Picked one up in local BB today, seems to be working just great and 3G is very snappy. Still no WiFi or GPS though:-(
Dump Rom
Cold one of you guys dump a ROm from your US version? Do they come with wm6 or wm6.1
Thanks
6.1 just dont know if this is a keeper, prob not
Anyone know how to get a gmail account working on a windows device? (So far setting up a windows device is a PITA, debating why Im switching from my Curve right now).

Sorry. I got everything working anyway. Only thing I dont like about the phone so far is that it washes out in the sun. Impossible to see the screen today.
Is anyone using it on US T-Mo?
I am also interested in a ROM dump of the US Touch Dual
Best Buy website for me says Pre order only. I didnt realized it released yet.

I couldn't really find much info on the Pure, is it exactly the same as an unlocked Diamond 2? Usually they change them (read: "dumb them down and make them look a lot worse") when the carriers offer them.

If you are asking if the overseas HTC Diamond (the European version) will work in the US, it will only work on the GSM carriers in the US (i.e. AT&T) but only on Edge and not on 3G.
The HTC Pure (AT&T's version of the TD2) which is coming to AT&T but has not been released or officially announced yet, should at least be announced on October 6th although the exact availability date may vary. It will have 3G on AT&T's network.
Thanks for the info. I looked up the Pure and I'm gonna wait for that, do you know when it's coming out?

Is Verizon's HTC Imagio a Topaz, Blackstone or Whitestone?

Verizon "appears" to be close to releasing the Imagio a CDMA/GSM phone "exclusive" to Verizon with a 3.6" screen for $199 with a 2-year contract. I searched around and it appears that this phone is not clearly classified. In some places is identified as the Whitestone (Whitestone has a 2.8" screen in some places ), in others as the next generation Touch HD (I thought this was the Leo) while in others is called a "variant" of the Topaz (Diamond2). Does anyone know what it is? I could not find Whitestone specific thread. Also, this phone appears to be less expensive than the Topaz (Diamond2), has a larger screen (3.6"), has a 3.5" headphone jack, TouchFLO 3D and Win 6.5. Why would I select the Diamond 2 over the Imagio?... Maybe AT&T will be releasing a "variant" of the Topaz similar to the Imagio. I'm sure I'm missing something.

Basically Verizon Imagio = Whitestone = CDMA Topaz = CDMA Diamond 2
And to answer your "why would you choose Diamond 2 over Imagio"...well basically it depends on what carrier you are needing service with. Imagio is CDMA and Diamond 2 is GSM....unless Sprint confuses things and comes out with the Whitstone and calls it a Diamond 2 also (I hope they don't do this...they should call it something else like Verizon did by calling it Imagio). AT&T version of the Diamond 2 will be called Pure. But AT&T's version will look like the European Diamond 2 in terms of screen size.

Thanks... I asked a couple followup questions about the Imagio in one of your threads mentioned above.
Not much different than the Touch HD though. Same RAM/ROM, Processor, nearly the same screen. Just has a zoom bar and physical buttons instead of capacitive.

You are incorrect, the whitestone/blackstone family is different from the topaz/diamond 2 family. The Imagio is a customized shell on a touch hd with an additional antenna for Verizon's media flo tv broadcast service. The att pure is just a diamond 2.

My HTC Touch is CDMA and is labeled as a Touch through Bell, and Rogers GSM Touch is also labeled Touch. I believe the vogue moniker has not been used in any marketing at all and remains an inhouse code name given to it by HTC before official release.
The code name for the GSM version is the Elf and the code name for the CDMA version is Vogue. However, under all carriers, "Touch" is used as the phone name.
This can be confusing when trying to buy one online. You have to be careful and look at the bands the radio supports to make sure you get the right one for your carrier.
