Tmobile advice needed please - myTouch 3G, Magic General

Im thinking of getting the My touch from Tmobile. I have the TP2 but dont care much for it. I have done some reading here, but would like to get some advice from My Touch owners. Last question, is the Hero Roms working good?

as far as using it on the mt? honestly im disappointed with it i never use the touchflo (which is the sense ui look) but i like the htc features so i just use those... sprint will have the real hero coming out this month if you want it that bad but if you dont care about speed and dont mind waiting at least a minute every time you hit the home key for it to load then go for it but its just too slow for me
**i must say i love the size of the mt3g its way slimmer than the tp2 and g1 which was a hugh plus for me and reason i still use it

Samsung Galaxy Lite.
There are 4-5 registered Android devices said to be dropping Q4 of this year for T-Mobile USA.
The MyTouch is fantastic. I have a G1 as a spare for development and testing. However, there will always be a growing trend with "the next best thing."
Keep in mind, there's a lot of this year LEFT to go. Keep your options open...open-source that is! HA!

Correct indeed.

He makes a valid point as well.
It just depends on what you can afford for the various data packages offered by the carriers.
My preference being: T-Mobile USA!
Fantastic service, loyal to them for almost 8 years now. Nothing but positive experiences with them.
Like I said though...the MyTouch is nice, but hold off...it could be worth it.

I am using a mytouch and love it. This is my first android phone and I don't think I will ever go back to windows mobile. These phones are more versatile and the interface is whatever you want it to be.
I don't use a hero ROM on it because I have heard too much about it being slow. I will wait for the optimized version to show up before trying that.
I was going to get the TP2 but the cost put me off. I am glad it was too expensive now. Showing off this phone to people at work has made 3 other people get an android phone.

I Dont know that holding off will do you any good.. I have seen the specs for the other droid phone that tmo us is supposed to get this year (well all of whats available) and honestly the mt3g is I think still the best one (assumeing you want a non keyboard slim phone)..
I know there is supposed to be some lower end ones coming out, but if you have the TP2 now I am guessing that doesn't really interest you..

Tmobile G1...

I've been doing a lot of research, and reading on the G1 forum, but i was just curious what you guys thought about the new Tmobile G1. It looks like a really slick phone and I'm seriously thinking about ordering it.
I know a lot of people will post the "its awesome" pitch.... but honestly
pros: extremely powerful hardware with a very stable operating system.
cons: the operating system is very new... meaning that there is no real software or rom development out there for it.... meaning no customization. (and currently no real games at all!!!! lol)
conclusion: im happy enough with my wing that i PERSONALLY will stick with it for a while (especially with ttrans new 7.4 rom - great performance and plenty of space).... as soon as some real progress is made in development for android i will buy a G1
I pre-ordered mine 2 hours ago and can't wait to get mine on November 10th.
I have the Wing and love it but I'm the type of person that gets bored really fast. So G1 here I come!

Well if your that type of person then you will only be entertained by the G1 for about a week... i've been doing some reseach on it and most of the reviews say that its pretty basic and needs work by developers! the only reason i would get one is the fact that it has the hardware to support 3G..but my location wont have it till next year so im happy with my wing!!
i personally love my wing
i can see my self upgrading to the touch pro instead of the g1
i ilke the innovative look the the g1 but if i get some hand on with it i can see which phone i will go to
i have had a lot of hands on with the touch diamond so i can fix a lot of the issues with the touch pro if i get it
Look, I loved my Wing when I had it too. But any one who thinks the G1 won't blow the Wing out of the water is ridiculously stupid. And I don't say that to offend any one either. Do some research. Look at what the phone can do and what they phone will do in the future. People can make applications. That right there says a bunch. Imagine the kind of **** we'll be able to use. Android may be new, but it's gotten great reviews. As time goes on, it will only get better for the G1 and its users. There's a reason they've sold over 1.5 million pre-orders for the G1. Stick with Windows Mobile if you want, lol.

I just wish I had one so I could actually spend time with it. The fact that it's more or less open source, means there will be a ton of programs and applications once there is time to make them. I think I'll hold off for a bit, but 179 is ridiculously cheap compared to the wing, and has the hardware to smoke, but for the time being, I think I'll just keep moddin my wing and do some more research.

Nah, I'm going to wait and do more research and see what programs, roms, and games become available. I think I'll stick with the wing for now, and just mod and flash roms every other week! lol. But, the G1 is only 179 so thats a huge price drop. Either way, I really can't wait to see what becomes available for the G1.
what would be great would be a g1 wm6 port - with fully functional drivers..... i know everyone is talking about getting android on their phone, but just think for a second how nice it would be to get a nice new extremely fast phone for 170 odd dollars and continue using all the software you are familiar with.... and then as soon as application development and customization become mainsteam for android you could always flash back. i know its too much to wish for because of the lack of drivers, but it would be great for me if it ended up happening

You know, that would be PERFECT. I'm really not that familiar with the Android o.s., but if they could incorporate it into WM6, then it would be hands down the winner. We could use everything we already use to load applications, etc. Since it's supposed to be open source, maybe somebody will figure out how to do it?!?
G1 vs Wing
This month in PC Magazine (October 2008) Sascha Sagan, the director of new product reviews, said this,"never buy a product in the first few weeks after it comes out. Wait a month. By then... you will be able to tell if something is really worth a buy".
My two cents,
Paul D.
G1 will eventually be better than the wing, just not now. There's alot of holes that need patching up in the os to make it a real competitor to wm. When u compare Android right now to say ttran otp 7.x, Android isn't even in the same league. But give it some time, and maybe Android 2.0, then u'll really start seeing what G1 can do.
Also, this will be a fun phone in regards to xda's developing and hacking community and also to us, the end-user. As people start accessing and examing the innards of Android, who knows what juicy things can be created and imagined. Only issue i see is the stuff they left out, but the os seems to be solid with no real problems experienced. Messaging needs work, with mms being the main problem (can't send gifs or video).

Yeah I agree. Seeing how this phone is really meant to be modified, I can't even imagine the amount of software, roms, mods, etc there will be for this phone. I do think it will take some time, so I believe I will hold off, but I'm pretty excited about it.

that is exactly what i want. i just want to keep useing windows mobile. it has been around for ever (ce). hopefully someone in the linux community will figure out how to flash it to what ever you want.
I am a G1/Wing owner. I got my G1 2 days ago and i can tell you, i am very happy with the phone so far. I do miss using TTran's OPT and hope they port TouchFlo2D to Android. The Manilla Theme is the best i've seen!
I am also one of those people that would much rather run Linux on my PCs at home, but don't because i am in the IT field so i need to stay current on Windows. Anyhow, I understand people wanting to wait and recommend most do that. I am not usually the type to jump on a product at Version 1 until some updates and public testing has been done. But i am looking forward to Android's growing pains!
I just upgraded to a G1. What I did was, when the G1 presale was announced, I called to say I was going to cancel my service soon and asked what they would offer to keep me. The CS rep asked what I had in mind. I said I wanted the to see if there was a way to get the G1 with 1 a year contract. The CS rep told me not until after the actual launch but she would lower my unlimited family text messaging to $9.99 permanently if I would wait until the launch to decide. I agreed. So today, I called back for the G1. They offered me the G1 for $179 + NO $18 upgrade fee if I agreed to keep my four lines for 1 year. So, that's what I did. I wasn't going to cancel anyway because, it's hard top beat T-Mo's rates, even if the coverage is a little weaker than other carriers in my area. My Wing will likely be up for sale after I evaluate the G1.
Update:
I just canceled my order. I don't want to put $800 on the line to save $300.

Is anybody else feeling a lack in developement?

I feel that after the big verizon and alltel gps cracks that there has been a lack in cool things happening for the titan. I realize that there are much better devices out there but I don't consider the titan ready to roll over a die just yet. Now more than ever I am feeling restricted by ghost 64 mb of ram. I've always had the most bad ass 'phone' of anybody that I know but I feel almost like I've done it all. I feel like android is a waste of time, because the iu is cool but I really can't see my self using it on a day to day and the amount of add-ons one would need to get it running smoothly would most likely eat up memory anyway (don't hate just my opinion). Maybe someone could cheer me up with something new I don't know about. Thanks ahead of time.
You still have No2chem working on his ROM over at ppcgeeks and maybe DCD will pop out another ROM, but the Titan is now a discontinued device. While popular, it never had the developer interest that the Apache did, so I expect development will fall off more rapidly. Fortunately, the current stuff like DCD's ROM work really well and my Mogul has a whole lot less headache factor than it did 6 months ago. Unfortunately, if you're bored and looking for new toys, you're going to be disappointed. Due to low RAM, we will probably be unable to acceptably run much of the software being developed with the Diamond, Touch Pro and beyond in mind. FWIW, barring a catastrophic failure, I intend to keep using my Mogul for at least the next year. My intention is to skip the diamond/touch pro generation completely with the hope that the next gen Android phones or another OS will free me from the old pig that is WM.
Thanks for the reply
I agree with you the touch diamond is not worth dropping almost 6 hundro for. I would spend the money if I thought it was. I am also pissed about the carrier fights because I used to work for verizon and hate them now and t-mobile's coverage in this area sucks bad, sprints customer service and williness to work with on issues is the absolute worst, and AT&T isn't even worth talking about, so I am happiest with alltel as far as price and service goes, but they are always about 4-6 months behind. And the G1 is a great concept but my buddy's really didn't impress me but I've been reading about the Touch HD (aka G2) and it looks like the phone I'd really like to have but they have no intentions right now of cdma functionality. So i just feel a little stuck. I am very impatient with these things.
On a closing note I will also agree that DCD's 3.2.xxx has been very near perfection. No more freezing. That is probably the most embarrassing thing to happen. You give someone your phone and tell them to use live search to go look at something then, boom, your phone freezes and you know they are thinking the thing that most pissess me off, 'Well it's definitely no iPhone.' The thing that makes you just want to wrap their hair up in your hand and knee them in the face a dozen times because you know the iphone doesn't have half the functionality your titan but you can't do anything but live with it because ****ing windows locked up because you have conflicting software. Anyway praise DCD for his latest because he has saved many peoples faces from my knee.
FYI, DCD has a post on this board with his intentions of going to the Diamond. On PPCGeeks, there is at least 5 ROM developers working on the Touch Pro CDMA and they all seem to be headed in that direction. I'm not sure what GC is planning on upgrading to. I expect the titan specific development to go away in the next 6 months, but there is always the more generic development of just Windows Mobile apps on this board as well as others that will continue.

i dont need the keyboard or care about the ram. i get the diamond cheaper and its thinner. the keyboard driver on titan is dissapointing to the point that i wish i had bought vogue (plus android doesnt work on my titan..). i do my typing at a pc, i only need to type on my phone when im driving, and the qwerty doesnt help there.

no2chem already has his Touch Pro and is working on ROMs for it.
I picked up a Sprint Touch Pro today, so I thought I’d write about my experience with it thus far, and what the future might hold for it…
The Sprint Touch Pro is, dare I say, the best phone you can buy for the CDMA market. I’d go even further to say that the Sprint Touch Pro is the best phone you can buy in the United States. Yes, AT&T has the Fuze, which is essentially the same thing, with nicer looks, you’ll be locked to AT&T’s poor excuse for a data network. Granted, its not nearly as bad as T-Mobile’s nonexistent network, you’ll probably get only sub-par speeds on AT&T, as their HSDPA deployment is rather weak. Sprint, on the other hand, has EvDO well deployed in pretty much all metropolitan areas. On top of that, Sprint’s data plan is very affordable, while AT&T’s data plan costs a ridiculous $60/month. But enough about the carrier, and more about why this phone is pure bliss…

Yep, if you are bored and bothered by 64 megs, its time to jump ship while there is still demand. I sold my mogul for ~$200 on ebay a few weeks ago.
Yea, I know I just hate to drop the money now with great devices on the way, like I said my buddie's diamond is very laggy so I'm not really interested in droping $600 for something that is like stepping from mustang 6 cylinder mustang to a GT. By all means it is a much better device but still I think the screen could be larger, could have more memory, could have a less buggy ui (which dcd will probably work out), could have more expandable memory, plus I'm cdma which means I don't get that cool diamondish look. I think I'm going to have to just stick my thumb in my ass and wait for cdma's next big improvement which I think we'll happen sooner than later. I am hoping android will be a more widely used platform, as it looks to have a lot of potential.

Hero was a mistake I regret

So basically I'm phone-savvy and all (maybe not at as much as the devs here) and bought the HTC Hero around 6 months ago.
I made a big mistake.
First of all, I'm on T Mobile US and I got the unlocked European version and though I knew 3G wouldn't work I just said "who cares" but now I realize that 3G is actually quite a big jump from the slow EDGE.
Second, I'm not quite satisfied with the HTC-ized Android. And plus we still haven't gotten a 2.1 update.
Third, it just doesn't feel that good of a phone as do several others.
Sure it can do just about everything, but hell even the iPhone is simpler to use and easier. By simplicity I'm talking about the time it takes to achieve a task which is on average longer on my HTC Hero (at least for me).
Now the 2.1 update has been pushed back further and I'm very disappointed with HTC. All in all I think I'm going to trade in my phone for something else, maybe a blackberry or an iphone or just sell it and wait for something else.
I don't want to start a flame war, and I'm glad those of you who are satisfied with the HTC Hero have a phone you enjoy... but for me, I guess it's over.
I'd also like to thank all the developers who worked so hard to make my Hero that much more usable and interesting. Thanks guys!
I have to disagree. I have been working in the wireless industry since 1999 and also consider myself to be phone savvy. I've been using smartphones since the Motorola MPx200! The Hero is HANDS DOWN one of the BEST phones I've ever had. I'm using mine in the US on AT&T (Telus Hero, so 3G works). I don't think it is slow at all. If you don't like the HTC "stuff", load a Vanilla ROM. I had a Magic before my Hero and only had EDGE on the Magic, so I can see where that would bother you. But that's not because it's a Hero, but rather because you are using it on the wrong network. When the official 2.1 comes out and the devs have access to the proper kernel, these phones are going to fly! It's a pity you can't get 3G on it, because I think you would have a much better opinion of the phone.

Well, not really.
You should have known a smartphone relies on a decent data connection. Downloading one or two emails and updating the weather app is about as much as I can take on GPRS/EDGE.
You aren't satisfied with the Sense UI? Did you even watch any online videos before you bought the phone? Surely you didn't just walk in to a purchase like this blind. The 2.1 update is going to be Sense UI too so why are you holding out for it? Why don't you just put a vanilla 2.1 ROM on your Hero and have it now without Sense?
eatmydave, speed really isn't the issue. My Hero is running perfectly fine, and as for data I'm mostly on a WiFi which is why I got the Hero from Europe and back then the Telus Hero wasn't out. Personal opinion, I just didn't have a satisfactory experience with the phone. I'm not bashing on the phone at all It's great and a lot of people love it... just not me.
kadison, getting defensive much? Yes, really. Read the above section. I knew that I'd only have EDGE and sure I didn't think it would be that slow but I'm on wifi most of the times anyway.
And of course I saw videos before buying the phone I'm not bashing on the Sense UI, all I'm saying is that it's more eye candy than it is useful. At least for me.
Custom ROMs were the only reason I put up with it for so long anyway. But in the end, this phone just isn't for me.
The reason I posted this was to possibly warn future buyers who are like me. Sure a lot of other people love this phone, but a few are dissatisfied.
Oh yeah, no one would really want to buy the Hero now since they have the Legend or whatever out. HTC is just using their marketing techniques (pushing 2.1 further and further back) so some people give in and buy their new hand sets.

HTC Hero is a great phone. Its proved that It can handle 2.1 ver well including 3D Gallery n Live wallpapers. Its just missing the 2.1 Update from HTC. But not doing that might make HTC to loose some customers.

I run on edge most of them, and for day to day usage, you wouldn't notice much difference with Edge vs 3g vs HSDPA. The web is a bit slower, but I use opera mini so pages are small.

The lack of 2.1 is annoying, but give Villain a whirl. I'm running 5.3 it's the first time I'm happy with a 2.1 rom. I had been running the Mr Bang performance rom for a few months previous as I felt it was the best 1.5 rom.
I to got the urge to move to something else, but there will be bigger upgrades around the corner.

No, I'm not being defensive. EDGE is crap and on average you get less than the speed of a 56K modem. The times I find I really need a decent data connection is when I am not near any WiFi, say if i'm lost somewhere or need to find a nearby business or shop. Doing this on EDGE is a real ball ache and if I knew that's all I'd ever have I'd reconsider my phone/network choice.
Sense ties the OS together visually but I wouldn't call it eye candy because IMO Android needs this. It also provides quite a few useful widgets and shortcuts, meaning you don't have to go hunting in the market as soon as you get your phone for something as basic seeing the weather, bookmarks or connectivity toggles on a home screen.
I agree no one who can afford a Legend or Desire would buy a Hero now. Furthermore the only reason to buy a Legend is because you have a soft spot for aluminium or can't cope with the physical size of a Desire - there's only a £15 price difference between the two phones on devicewire.com!
HTC are dragging their heels with the Hero's 2.1 update but it'll be here eventually.
It seems to me that despite what you said you did want to start a flame war. Why even post something like this? We are all on this forum because we love our Heros and want to get the most out of them. You've gotten 6 months of use out of a phone you wanted so much you imported it, there's no use complaining now about how it's not up to scratch. So what if 2.1 hasn't come through the official channels yet, this is an open source project and if you're relying on official roms, then I truly believe you are not realising the full potential of what your phone can really do.
Maybe you should just join the ranks of the drones conforming to consumer commercialism and buy an iphone

I don't like (and prob many other people) this kind of discussing on this Forum from the Hero. there is a general discussion forum where you can talk about this, but in MY opinion, this forum is for people who definately like their HERO and want to use all of it's functionalities.....
If you don't like the phone, stop complaining, get the hell out of here, buy yourself an Iphone, and bugger off......sorry for being rude!
Thanks

You need to think about these two words 'discussing' and 'discussion' - oh look, well I never, you used those two words in your comment.
Think about what those words mean, and then, the answer to your upset will be found

This is a valid topic imho, if he doesnt like his product which he has bought with his hard earned money, this is his prerogativ.
Nobody had to respond to his post, people could just let it die, but people keep posting, therefore, its a valid topic.
If i had known about HTC's unfriendly update/customer policy, i wouldnt have bought it either.

I sat here for far too long constructing a long scathing reply but I decided i'm not going to waste any more of my time on it! So:
OP - If you really hate your Hero so much that's your choice. You have a right to your opinion and the world would be a dull place if everyone liked the same thing.
Pietje - Grow up.
Looking at the numbers in his handle, one has to assume he has a fair bit of that to do.
Yeah does seem like this has turned into more of an argument.
All I'm saying is that I, personally, didn't like the Hero. Never said anything about the Hero being bad or anything. It's all a matter of opinion. I have friends who love their Motorola Razrs and laugh when I tell them I paid 600 dollars for a phone, they just say "what's the point of using internet on your phone?" so yeah there are people like that also.
As a device Hero is definitely great. As something I would like/want/need/use, it's not. Just not for me.
I'd appreciate it if people didn't try to argue their points here, I'm not disagreeing with anyone.
Cheers!

I never understood the appeal of those phones!
Well I have to completely disagree with you I got my Hero in April and I love it I am running Kimera's overclocked ROM so I basically have a Legend and my Hero does do everything I love to show off with it and everyone thinks its so cool and its so fun to just play with and i absolutely HATE Apple
@MentalDeath - Agree on all accounts. Especially the Kimera ROM.
why did you not just get a htc magic (mytouch 3g) its same specs as hero bar the camera and would work on T-Mobile with 3g

does this work?
In the hidden test menu, under phone information(*#*#4636#*#*), it's possible to select cdma as network. Would some of those settings enable 3g, for european heros in the states ?

Wow... HD2 Discontinued July 1st? Whats the info?

Hey Just learned that T-Mobile and so are discontinuing the HD2 on July 1st, Anyone know why? I know the Stock roms were crap and froze up and people returned it. But once modified its been a solid pocket pc for me. Anyone know whats going on or if there is a recall or something? Why is the HD2 already going out or do they plan to bring something like the EVO in its place?
Official Source?
T-Mobile store, then various links I came across, even vodaphone.

As it is, the HD2 dropped from 544$ to 499$ in just a short time.
Extremely old news on the Vodafone front, and that T-Mobile USA thread you referenced is completely unfounded. Rumors floating across the interwebs.
EDIT: Also as far as I remember, the phone came in at $449 and is still the same price.
Well while the thread might not mean anything, Talking to the T-Mobile store ppl sure does mean something to me.

lol, is that the same t mo staff who absolutely assured several people win P 7 upgrade would be coming? Store staff know fugg all, unless they also happen to be phone nerds too, which most aren't.
However, I can see tmo ditching it fairly soon, i mean, they sold a shed load of them, and now the margin will drop more, plus they will have had a ton of returns/complaints/problems meaning headaches for tech support, , sounds reasonable to think they'll be clearing out some of the more awkward lines ready for the wp7 range later this year.
Yea thats the reason I was told it will be cause of all the returns on it, which I work on phones.. so many customers I had where I put a custom rom on it, which of course makes it smoother. ^^ (Energy wee)
Considering Walmart and Amazon both dropped the contract cost to $50, and that TMOUS has a lot of android phones coming out. I would say the likelihood of HD2 being discontinued is pretty high. Doesn't really matter to me, I got mine and I'm happy with it.
pretty sure tmoUS said that the HD2 would only make a limited run for 3 or so months...so I wouldn't doubt the july 1st date.
The question is.. is the HD2 really that bad not to live that long? Granted I guess once Android gets working on the HD2, Ill be a happy camper too ^^
this phone looked nice but i'm really disappointed in what you can get for the phone. no decent tv apps. it seems loads of trouble getting any apps. and flash player don't even work.

I thought there is a flash player fix? My only real gripe on it is that the youtube app.. doesnt let you see your youtube stored favorites...
your nexus link is old (12/2009) and this has been VF policy since mid December, (after all the rumours that VF Uk where pulling the HD2).
Still a good seller, they even relented and started to issue Firmware upgrades.

The problem is... no one seems to be willing to work on an Android release for the HD2 hardware, which is odd considering the EVO/Incredible are very similar... The only "Android on HTC/HD2" threads I have found are actually GNU type linux distros... While they're cool, they're still not quite what most of us are looking for.
I'm actually trying to sell my HD2 and weasel out of my 2-year contract so I can go get either the Incredible or the EVO4g.

Are you kidding me? They've been working their asses off for an android port for the HD2. There's a stickied thread in the rom section. They are still having problems with the linux kernel, so it's gonna be a while until android runs halfway decently, but they're making great progress. These things take time. And the evo is not very similar to the hd2 at all... they only look similar.
If you want android to use full-time, it's best to go with an android phone. They've been working on android ports for the older msm72xx winmo devices (kaiser, tp2, tp, etc.) for years and still don't have a perfect port. Don't expect a fully-functional android port anytime soon... but it will be cool to have my great winmo device with the ability to boot into android when I please.
don't get me wrong this phone is nice, its just a shame its not simple when you want apps. the apps cost a bomb as well. reminds me of my n96.how do you know when there's a firmware update?
Probably discontinued because its crap!
Yes they are working hard on android.

then why you bought it
This phone is great, the only regret is the dying OS. Let's hope they manage to get Android working.

My HD2 makes me feel dirty

Hello friends. I have had my hd2 for about a month and a half now and I have not gotten close to it. My last phone purchase before the hd2 was the g1. I fell for that phone in about an hour. I felt it was at that tome the best phone I had ever had and it was nice and snappy. I had it for 2 years and had no issues ever. Then the touch screen got numbed and it decided to work on and off. I was going to run out and get a new one but I decided that I should just get a newer model. I knew it was going to be htc but the hd2 rePly stuck out foe me. Huge screen Wich felt good in my bear claw hands. And it is so sexy. Hardware is top of the line. I thought I was golden foe at least another 2 years. Yea right. I can't stand this phone. The touch input is not responsive enough to let me type at the speed I feel comfortabl at. And the web browser is not even in the same leauge as the one on the g1. I feel that I got a phone that wasn't me. I feel so bad and it hurts bad. The problem is that I bought it cash on a whim when it was sold out all over for $600.I know a bit high but what can I do. I felt it was fair I figure two years of use is less than a dollar a day for top notch hardware was ok. But this phone is not working for me. I feel bad when I say. Windows mobile killed the hd2. Htc should release some android for this. It seems that windows mobile isn't really the best for me. It may be great but I just fell for android. Now I have this horrid phone and I don't even like it. I actually just got an iPhone 2g and I like it more. And I hate the iPhone but what can I say. I found someone who will take my hd2 and give me a 16gb 3gs and a samsung behold 2. Seems pretty good. I can sll the build for a couple dollars maybe 150 ish and then sll the 3gs for around 400 maybe and then get me a nexus one or maybe I will just hold on to th cash and wait for htc to release another great android phone for tmobile. And no the mytouch slide is not htc top for tmobile I hope. Maybe I should wait till end of summer for some special and then use my renew credit. Tmobile is my only choice. Common tmoble be tops in android again please. The only affordable provider that has 3 lines unlmt talk for $99. I can't leave them

Sounds like Verizon is a better choice for you phone wise, and t-mobile is your choice for coverage and pricing.
Although T-mobile has some andriod phones the other carriers have the top android/droid phones other than the nexus one. Now you have to find out what one is bigger to you and then figure a solution for the other. HTC will never give this phone anroid but it might be ported by a developer. But doesn't look like any time soon.
Its called the galaxy S. I really think its coming to tmobile just wait for it.

x2. if you're gonna stick with t-mobile and want to stick with a device that has premium hardware like the hd2, wait for the galaxy s to come out. 4" screen, front camera, rear camera. Super AMOLED display.
i also upgraded from a both a g1 and a mytouch to an hd2. however, i'm not on the same boat as the OP of this thread. i have grown to like win mo 6.5 more and more and have made all the necessary tweaks to make the hd2 the way i want it to run and look in terms of theme and performance.
perhaps you should try flashing a rom or find the necessary .cab files such as cookie's home tab to help you change your mind about ditching this phone.

Exactly. I had mixed feelings about this phone when I first got it, and felt the same way you did. I paid full price for it (because of my hatred for contracts) and felt like I had made a huge mistake and instantly wanted to buy a Nexus One so I could shelf this device. But as I got more involved with the development community and tried different ROMs and 3rd party apps, I began to love it, not only is the performance better, but it is much sexier than it was. I still plan on buying a Nexus One (fandroid ) but by no means am I going to excommunicate myself from this device.
WinMo 6.5 was like an ugly girl with a great personality. You want nothing to do with her until you get to know her
But seriously, do not give up on this phone before testing everything out with it
Thanks for the responses.
I think that i have found the main issue with my phone. I have spbshell on it and i feel restricted. I think im going to just try and make my own rom. with what suites me. I also realized that i have a phone fetish or something. In my collection i have a G1, MyTouch 3g 1.2, iPhone 2g, HTC Hero, HTC HD2, Samsung Behold 2. I have to many phones. most recent was the iPhone 2g and it is not as bad as i thought. i was thinking of getting a iPhone 4 but i cant. I need to find a way to make this hd2 work for me. I hate the battery life also. o well,i guess i could just make a small 2000mah battery pack. that would fix things.
again thanks
Seriously dude, check out some different ROMs, and try Cookie's Home Tab. CHT actually mods the stock Sense interface, which is likely to work much better/smoother, and with less restrictions. Most of the ROMs available get rid of all the bloatware, and add speed/stability to the device.
I was in the same situation as you... and was seriously considering returning my HD2 and picking up the N1 instead. However, after installing several tweak apps and flashing Dinik & Miri's new ROM, I'm VERY satisfied. Works smooth, looks great, and has a lot of the features that I wanted from Android.
It really pays to do your homework, and spend some time modding your device... it takes time and trial/error to figure out what works best for you, but I'm sure you can get your HD2 running as you hoped it would. Just spend some time scouring these forums, and you'll find lots of good info on how to get the most out of your device. It can be a bit overwhelming, as a lot of the info is scattered throughout different subforums, but I'm confident you can find what you're looking for.
Also, it would help to know what mods/tweaks you've done to your HD2 so far, so we make recommendations on what you can do to make you happy with it (I.E.- ROM version, .cabs installed, etc.)
I took the plunge and traded it, I got a great deal. 1 iPhone 3GS and a Nexus one with a cracked screen. Now i have repaired the nexus one. I am happy with my trade. The HD2 had power but i didn't like it, not very fun to use. The 3gs is great and the nexus one is also great. true smaller screen but the ui is much better on both the iphone and nexus one. I wish tmobile would have something lined up for next year that is better than the incredible. If not i see no reason to stay with them. my contracts up in 3 months and they don't really have anything they could offer me to stay. plus the prepaid unlimited all on tmo network for $60 looks nice.
Glad to hear it worked out for you. I honestly love the HD2 and sleep with it nightly. But everyones different and uses different features. How you liking being a Machead?

Sprint carries the HTC EVO 4G, which is the same as an HTC HD2 except running Android, with an 8mp camera that can shoot video in 720p.
I must admit I wish I had signed for that instead, but I'm stuck for 2 years.
Evo's a great phone I just feel it came out at the wrong time. I think by Christmas it will be old news and we may see dual core's. Had it come out at the same time as the HD2 I would be liking it better.
