t9 keyboard? - myTouch 3G, Magic General

ive seen a t9 keyboard on you tube for the my touch.
how do i get it?
does my mytouch have to be rooted?

downloadable keyboards
You can download Touchpal from the android market, or install the HTC keyboard (search for instructions on here) for free without having to root. You can also download Better Keyboard from the market for $3 if I remember correctly.

i have htc magic and i want to know how i can have both qwerty and phone keypad? now i only have the option between qwerty and pinyin, handwriting and stroke..
how can i remove those and have other options such as phone keypad?
Search for HTC_IME.apk here. This gives you the phone keypad and qwerty from HTC.
i already have the phone keypad and qwerty from htc, what i want is to know how to remove the chinese input and replace it with phone keypad, so when i type, i have only the 2 options of qwerty and phone keypad and not the chinese input or handwriting and stuff..
If you have both HTC_IME and HTC_CIME, then under Settings -> Locale & text, there should be a Touch Input Chinese checkbox where you can uncheck... ?
i can uncheck touch input, but there is no option to uncheck touch input chinese....can you help me uncheck it somehow or disable/uninstall it?
i tried using astro to uninstall it but it says it cannot be uninstalled

[Q] Calibrate keyboard tool missing

Hello everyone,
I am using a CM6 Rom on my HTC Magic 32B. Trying to access the keyboard calibration tool, which is supposed to be under
locale & text -> touch input
I only have a menu called "Language & Keyboard", in which I can choose
- The Android Stock keyboard
- Better Keyboard (installed)
- HTC_IME mod(installed WITH clicker.apk!!!)
No touch input / calibration there or in any of the submenus.
From what I understand, the clicker.apk is supposed to deliver this feature.
I am currently using the clicker.apk for 1.5 / 1.6,
since the highres version of htc_ime didn't seem to work.
Typing with any of the keyboards without calibration is a pain in the butt,
so any ideas are greatly appreciated
Me too.... same issue. I'm looking for a solution cuz this virtual keyboard sucks.

That's not what he meant, I reckon... What I think he means is that when you upgraded, then keyboard restarted it's in use languages.
You need to go to settings -> my device -> language and input -> tap the wheel to the right of your keyboard, then add the languages you want. You might have to download them again.
Hope that solved it!

These seem like very typical Android questions, so I'll answer you with the barebones of Android. I will assume "lpi" is a typo for DPI.
Keyboard: You will need two or more activated keyboards in Settings ->Language & Input -> Keyboard & Input Methods (Header) -> Default. Then when you start typing in a box there should be an Input Method Switcher that pops up in the Notification bar.
Screen DPI: Download textdroider DPI and change your DPI then.
