HTC Original ROM - myTouch 3G, Magic General

Hey guys, don any of you know if where I can find the original ROM for my HTC Magic? I had a long and complicated mess up, but I have no back up etc, so was wondering if there is an orginal kicking about on the forums, or a ROM someone has developed that is similar and runs well? Cheers

i also need it too
i rooted my cell and accidentally didnt make a backup of the original rom and made a backup of the current rom i was messing with (maxima 2.3)...so like above where can i download the default rom that came with my cell? Im in LA on Tmobile , official mytouch 3g phone from them.
thanks

Can you flash without losing waranty?

Hi Guys, Loving the forums,
My first post, please be gentle!
I've searched but can't find how to flash my HD2.
If i flash will I lose my warranty with t mobile? (got it on t-mobile upgrade) If so is there a way of getting old rom back on there without them knowing i did anything? Is the t mobile rom openly available?
Whats the advantage with flashing?
Will I lose all settings when I flash? Cos it took be ages to tweek it!
I have 1.43.110.2 Rom version
Sorry for all these Q's
Smiley
Yes you can
forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=609477
as mentioned that is the tutorial I used. I got my hd2 on t-mobile upgrade too.
lots of benefits (read about them on peoples ROMs)
and I am pretty sure it voids your warranty BUT there is a 1.4 t-mobile stock ROM floating about on here so you can always restore it if you needed to.
Don't know why I couldn't find all that info when i searched, excellent and very well done. I'mthinking of flashing it when I have problems with the stock ROM but as it is I'm pretty happy with it unles someone can recommend a ROM i can't resist!
I read about backing up stock ROM just in case I needed to send HD2 bak to t-mob in future. How do you back it up, same way as data in the tutorial?
Cheers guys, I am a noob but hopefully will pick things up quick!

I bought my LEO from Orange with a contract.I searched the forums but couldn't find a noob friendly "tutorial" on how to backup my factory rom before upgrading to o custom rom, so that I wouldn't void my warranty .
Some someone help would be appreciated.

As far as im aware you can only back up the apps/settings not the rom itself, if you wanted to go back to the Stock rom you would need to download it and flash it again.

I don't know if htc's stoc rom is the same as the one provided by orange.
On my old I900 omnia it was possible to backup the entire rom Using GrandPrix.
I hope there is a similar solution for LEO.
You can download the original HTC Orange ROM from their website and set it aside should it ever become necessary to send the phone back for service.

It's my understanding that after installing HSPL if you need to revert to the original bootloader, you just have to flash a factory ROM and you're there. However, I've never put that to a test just yet. One other thing, be careful on which radio version is in the ROM you're using from HTC because HSPL will only install if your radio version is (if memory serves) 1.42 or earlier.
No reason to back it up - the ROM image is the backup itself, of course without data or user-installed programs. If you're looking for a good backup program, I've been very happy with SPB Backup which has been very reliable and will restore your entire machine, inclusive of data and applications you've installed yourself.
HTH.
ETA: I'd probably download ALL the HTC factory ROMs and patches and keep them on my drive and/or external media just in case the company ever decides that nobody wants those 'old' images anymore and discontinues the hosting of them.

can you go back to original rom?

Ok I've installed several different roms since getting my phone yesterday, but I haven't really found one that would stick with me like the original T-mobile rom does. Call me crazy, but I kind of like the rom that came with the phone. I was wondering if I could revert to that rom and how it is done? Also if I did this would I be able to install hardspl in the future to put cooked roms on the phone if I found one that I ended up liking? Sorry if this has been asked before I did a search and didn't really find my answer.
here ya go....

I flash the 2.10.1 ROM whenever I want to go back to the stock stuff and the Hard SPL is still in place with no need to reinstall it.
Thanks I seen that thread earlier lol I just needed some confirmation that that's what I needed to do thanks man I appreciate it. Going to install the version you said and see what happens do I flash it the same way as a cooked rom?
Never mind I figured it out thanks for the help I love this website been a member for a long time, but hadn't had a htc phone since my tilt thanks
NP man!!
My first HTC phone was a Tilt ... then went to a G1 and now HD2

[Q] Slow magic - looking to copy original magic to slow one

Hi all
First post here, read alot though.
I have a magic which was running a 2.1 rom and now running cyanogen 2.2 rom.
Both were slow and now its got to the point where i avoid txting cause the keyboard disappears and doing stuff on my phone as its so slow.
Im looking for solutions to this.. they may come in either a form of recommendation from a magic user with a fast older rom.. but preferably i would like to go back to stock and then maybe sell it.
I lost my original nandroid backup when shifting computers.
But i have another identical magic from my workmate that is untouched that i could make a copy of and place on the slow one if its possible and someone could tell me how.
Semi new to android rom'ing but been in IT for years and now work for Vodafone. So will be able to follow any instructions.
NZ Vodafone HTC Magic 32b
Thanks in advance
Wolfsta
Anyone able to help me with this?
Thanks
Wolfsta
That phone is just slow in general
On my magic I have amen ra's latest recovery and a rooted version of the official tmobile ota froyo update its somewhere in the androind development part for mytouch. Amen ras new recovery alows you to partition the sd card so you can you can put more swap memory I put 92 and 512. And it also helps if you overclock and manage your running programs.
Sometimes if you don't flash the rom right it makes it run slow too
Sent from my T-Mobile G2 using XDA App

Here is the link to download the original Aria ROM. Click on the "More" link to see the instructions to follow to flash the RUU.

thanx for the reply.
1)if my aria is SEA version not under AT&T, is there a difference?
and
2) i've read somewhere from the forum that HTC Sync wont run on CM6, if i flash cm6 instead of liberated, can i still use HTC Sync to recover it back to original?
3) by flashing this rom, my phone will be like original out of the box? which allow me to claim for warranty? ( rooted or flashed will void warranty)
Thanks Again

OK sorry, this ROM file is for the AT&T branded Aria. I do not know where you would find the SEA version of the ROM.
It is true the HTC Sync cannot interact with CM 6.1 ROM at the application level to sync contacts and such, but you can still use HTC Sync to flash these HTC original RUU ROM files.
Hopefully someone else may be able to point you to the SEA original RUU ROM file.
I don't know what "SEA" is but this may be of some help to you and PM'ing the OP or posting in the thread someone may be able to help you...unless of course one of the RUUs from the first post is what you are looking for:

Edit: I guess SEA stands for southeast asia?
