T-Mobile UK email 'sync error' and browser crash. - Touch HD General

I'm having a very frustrating time with email and T-Mobile.
Swapped from Orange recently and for the life of me cannot access my email. I constantly get 'sync error' in the mail app. If I go to the Gmail home page Opera crashes!
I've checked every setting I can think of. Set up the account manually as POP rather IMAP. Gone back to stock SPL and rom. Called T-Mobile but they are clueless and not interested as they didn't supply my Blackstone.
It all works fine over wifi and putting in either an Orange or Three sim triggers the automatic set up which also works fine.
Put the T-Mobile sim back in and problem returns.
Please help save my sanity.
I apologise if this has come up before but have tried searching.
Thanks

Don't know if this helps but I also get an 0x80072f78 error when I try to connect to gmail.com with Internet Explorer.

Just a quickie thought, but have you done a proper hard reset? I flashed a ROM and couldn't get the auto network setup to come up. When I realised it needed a hard reset, I lost the configurations I'd spent some time playing with, but the auto network setup popped up and ended some of my problems.
I also found that I had to untick the proxy setting that T-Mobile accounts use. Not sure if it's important but it may solve your issues, and it works for me.
One other issue I have seen some people post is the 3G or HSDPA will only work properly once you disable it, reset, connect to data via GSM/GPRS then renable 3G, and possibly reset again. Food for thought, but the proxy option was the culprit for me.

Hey Nerdino
Was just about to write back and say I'd hard reset half a dozen times and double checked the proxy setting. To be sure though I checked the proxy again and it was checked! I may well have been hallucinating before but I don't think so.
Whatever though, I unchecked it and it's working fine.
Thanks very much indeed for the reply.

WiFi, GPRS & MMS Issues, Cingular 8125 on T-Mobile

I have a Cingular 8125 and I love it, well, if I can get WiFi and the rest of the connectivity to work with my T-Mobile US account. The phone is unlocked.
I had everything working, except for WiFi. This is what I experience, I turn on WiFi, the device gets an IP, but when trying to connect with PocketIE, it just hangs and I get a time out or could not connect error.
Has anyone experienced these problems? I thought it was a one time issue and hard reset the device, and now I can't connect to anything, except to make calls. All data services seem jacked.
Any advice on how to fix this? Should I go with another ROM? If so, whats the best one out there?
Also, am I suppose to be able to use Pocket IE when I'm connected to my laptop via the USB?
Thanks,
Danny
i tried out the 8125's ext rom and its basicly making your device connect only through cingular settings. I couldn't get internet access through wifi. Not even Pocket msn, cuz they restricted it with a proxy. What i suggest is you hard reset your device, then when you finish with the intro crap ( align screen, cut & paste, set password) simply soft reset your device and there you go, you know have a Unbranded Wiza100 !!
Go into start/settings/connections tab/connections, under "mediaNet" select "setup my proxy server". Uncheck the box that says "This network uses a proxy server to connect to the Internet."
Hope this solves your problem.
That does it... but with T-Mobile... I need to use a proxy... is there a way around this? I would like to use the proxy...
I can get it to work when removing the proxy... however, if I have the WiFi on and proxy setting on... it won't work. And if I have proxy setting and wifi off, then GPRS doesn't connect.
Any Advise?
try this out. these are the tmobile settings off the clubimate site. they might be out dated but give it a shot. Also don' tthink theres no solution cuz the wizards coming out on tmobile at the end of this month
For some reason, when I install that cab (by copying it to the device and tapping on it), It doesn't seem to do anything. What am I suppose to see after the installation? It doesn't do anything...

ActiveSync will NOT start dataconnection / no push

I have this IRRITATING problem.
Using an exchange hosted service (4smartphone). Works like a charm, until --- for no reason apparent to me - ActiveSync decides NOT to run. It is supposed to run shortly after boot, start the GPRS/3G data connection, and sync. But it just will NOT start a data connection. It just sits there.
I have deleted my server settings and reentered them. I have deleted my ISP data and reentered them.
I had this once before, and the only thing that fixed it was a hard reset. ....
Any advice appreciated. LOTS.
DUDE i figured this out the other day b/c i had the same problem. go to ur windows folder there is a file called "repllog.exe" click on it and all will be saved. never again will we have to hard reset b/c active sync doesnt work.

Shot in the dark but did you try this?
Programs
Activesync
Menu
Schedule
Check "Use above settings when roaming"
Check "Send outgoing items immediately"
This was my issue since my TyTn thinks it's roaming all the time when it's actually not.
Thanks for the suggestions.
(1) Did try checking the use while roaming checkbox: njet, nada, did not help.
(2) Next time will try the replog suggestion. Thanks!
Somehow or other I fixed it myself. Don't ask me what I did. I THINK I did this
- rebooted PC
- rebooted Tytn
- wait till both had booted and had stopped rattling and seemed happy
- attachted the Tytn to the PC with the USB cable
- ActiveSync started
- the second the status said SYNCHRONIZED, unplugged
- the Tytn started the data connection
Me happy.
Who knows what cured it. Hours of fooling and cursing?

IMHO it was definitely the cursing. Another sure fire solution to almost all Hermes probs is the threat to throw in the dustbin, stamping of feet and alcohol.

Firmware upgrade - then no email

Hi all, I have searched but can't find an answer..
I keep getting - "can not connect with current connection settings" when trying to do a send and receive through email. I have yahoo and googlemail accounts.
I upgraded to Polaris 0.67_Opera_bepe and had the issue initially. I thought I may as well try Polaris.ASerg.3.WM61.WWE to see if that would remedy it.. but still i have the same issue.
My connection settings should be correct as I have used UK_Setup_ZD and that has always worked.
Worth me saying I have tried soft reset twice, opera / IE both connect and my MMS is fine too.
Could someone please help? It'll have to basics as I'm still new to this.
FYI : Polaris.ASerg.3.WM61.WWE is very very fast!! :O)
thanks for reading.
UPDATE: Not sure if this helps..
I have just turned on wi-fi and connected - This allowed me to update my inbox.
Turned Wi Fi off.
Tried again:
Data connection IS TURNED ON. Still have the same error message. "can not connect with current connection settings" and "Error Syncronizing"
@#!HELP!`~
Now this is weird! I got very frustrated as this did not make sense so loaded the HTC std Polaris rom.
Set the t-mobile settings as normal and proceeded to try and connect to email again... Nothing! same error again.
Went to watch TV for a couple of hours and came back to phone.
Closed all apps
Tried again and hey presto ! connection and downloaded email!
strange but true!
I missed something as this was not magic. I guess it was a strange request as nobody seemed to answer my request. If your having the same issue and reading this post good luck!
solved
Settings/ connections [tab]/ connections/ manage existing connections/
select connection
edit
then just keep pressing next and then finish.
Although the connection settings were there they were obviously not initiating when needed. This process seemed to confirm the settings and worked.
I may be talking absolute pony but it may help someone else like me.
Thanks all.

T-mobile US proxy hosed?

I have a TyTN (originally ATT 8525 flashed to vanilla WM6.0) that I gave my wife a while ago. She had the T-Zones 5.99 internet up and running just fine a few months back, but wasn't really using it so we dropped the plan. We still used WiFi a bit, so I disabled the T-Mo connection. Now, I'm using the phone for myself and want to get T-Zones back, so I used Lurch's connection installer. When I try to use an Internet app (like PIE), I see that it's connecting, then it thinks for a while, and pulls up a HTTP ERROR: $CODE$. At first, it didn't have the proxy set up (I forgot that Lurch didn't do that, I guess), but even after fixing it and soft resetting, I get the same problem. Is there maybe something wrong with the proxy or some such?
try this cab..
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=395203
Actually, I tried that just before you posted, and it *did* fix my PIE issues. Unfortunately, I don't think Gmail IMAP is working, but I don't have my phone handy to double-check. I believe only traffic to/from port 80 (and maybe 8080?) is allowed, so secure IMAP probably won't ever work, right? It doesn't bug me too much -- since it's Gmail, I can always just use the browser (now that I have EDGE, that is).
i had gmail pop setup and working a couple months back.. now i cannot get it to work either
The connection should be set to work under Tmo Data and work to internet under proxy - and to work as prefersed connection under the e-mail account.
if you go to google and your account settings there is a tutorial under imap settings that will have you reconfigure your email settings on your phone manually. it fixed mine immediately.

Google account connection / Market connection

Ok, I prolly worked myself in to some troubles. The htc hero was launched 2 days ago in netherlands...but was delayed in belgium for another week.
This for the youtube application that cannot exist on the htc hero for Belgium.
So I just went to netherland and bought a htc hero with the youtube application.
After playing with the htc hero I marked a quite big problem
1) I cannot connect to my google email.
With that I cannot connect to the andriod market for apps etc...
Could this be because I'm using my phone in Belgium? Where actually you should have a other phone? I remember reading something about regioblock?
Someone with info/solutions?
I've got the same problem with my Dutch Hero, but I live in the Netherlands (Vodafone NL)
edit : Tried to add hotmail manually (true email apps) works
edit : tried to add gmail manually (true email apps) works!
connecting before market...fails
check in settings > wireless > mobile networks > access point names
select the one for your network and check to make sure there is no proxy listed.
make sure it is just PROXY that you delete, and not MMS PROXY, as otherwise your MMS will stop working.
hopefully that will help.
I get the feeling that some of this stufff i blocked by the network proxies the same as MSN and youtube are blocked by proxies on WinMo handsets.

No I saw that more ppl have this problem.
It's not connecting using UMTS or WiFi, so it's not a network problem, it's a Hero problem.

Their was only the base mobile internet (gprs.base.be) and base MMS.
The base mobile internet was not marked on,so I did that but stil not working...
Just reset your phone to fabric settings and fill in your gmail account when the phone bootes (in the phone setup wizard) and everything will work fine.
Shut down the phone and press home button + back button + power button to start the reset, follow the screen for insructions.
They told me you have to have connection true 3g with your sim card...
To make the first connection you need this and no wifi...
I copy from the android forum :
I'll say it again.
You CAN'T set up Google Sync through an unprovisioned data package.
Now I though you could use wifi to set it up but you can't. You HAVE to set up Google Sync through 3G and it has to be through a Mobile Internet add-on!
Once set up you can use wifi/2g/3g/hsdpa
I know it doesnt make any sense but Google Sync doesn't use WiFi for the first set up and the Service Provider blocks Google Unless you use one of their data tariffs... Really Google should be provisioned to set up through wifi but probably part of this anti piracy malarky...
Yet again awsome phone, shockingly bad service providers.
Just wait till the data is provisioned and restart your phone. No luck then reset to factory defaults and try again.
(I had to do the same thing)
I had problems with connecting to Market then I did a hard reset on the phone and setup google account during initial wizard and it worked ok.
If your 3g network has restrictions you can always try wi-fi at your local hotspot
I still can't get wifi to provide a data connection, has to bephone network. Have tried several factory reboots :-(
if you are willing to experiment you could maybe flash your hero with WWE R3 rom release (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=533808)
However, be prepared to accept the fact that USB might not work until newer edition of ROM is available
not sure i believe that, as i have one at work and have signed in multiple times to google after a hard reset without a sim even being in the phone!
It even asks you if you want to use Wifi during the intial start up process, so it definitely CAN use the wifi for the initial set up, or at least the one we have here can!
just received hero and this misfunctionality is really irritating.
Does anybody knows how to reinstall this applications new?
it should be gmail, market and gtalk.
thanks in advance-
very odd.
Had a friend in NL that had this problem, but when we looked, it turned out that only the Vodafone MMS APNs had been set up (or were the only ones visible) and creating one manualy fixed the problem. He didn't have WiFi to try with at the time.
it was very strange as again, he could browse over 3G!
just checked....the settings are OK: Vodafone IT, but still can not get in.
tried also without a sim, only wifi, same result no connection...
should i really reset it? any other ideas?
thx in advance
I did the reset....
I made sure I was directly at my wifi spot...connected to gmail went ok...market now works perfectly...
Strange tho...
could there be some sort of automatic check in with the google servers the first time the handset is ever turned on? maybe if that fails, it could be linked?
reset, first config done, now it works great, some things are real mistery....
thanks to all
hi guys
i dont know if this the right pleace to ask but
does the hero have AUTO SETUP CONNECTION ??
that when you first time put a sim card or go to other network the phone auto setup your data connection . like htc diamond
I guess the network branded ones may not, but the unbranded one i have been using at work certainly does.
