My hero is locked - Hero, G2 Touch General

I have screen unlock pattern. I put it wrong several times, Now I got an option to unlock the phone by signing in with gmail credentials. I did several times but it is not accepting it. I'm sure that i put the correct credentials.
Any Help Please,

What's it asking for now?

google account: username and password

try @googlemail.com and not @gmail.com or visa-versa maybe ??
Assuming you've not already.

Because My phone's working fine..?

Hmmm... I think I just found a way to really screw up your phone... let's see what you think of my theory:
1. Put your phone into Airplane mode. This will completly turn off all the radios in the phone.
2. Go into settings and set an unlock pattern.
3. Put your phone into standby mode and turn it back on.
4. If you use up all of your tries at the unlocḱ screen you will have to enter your login details to unlock it. BUT THE PHONE IS STILL IN AIRPLANE MODE. Hence, the phone will not be able to connect to Googles servers for verification. And the worst thing is that not even a shut down of the phone will remove the airplane mode. Not even a removal of the battery.
THe only way to get out of this is to do a hardware reset of the phone.
What do you this of this?

I guess this is the only solution, I did a hardreset.
but this is a very very dangerous bug in the operating system.

at any time you can click and hold the reject call/power off button and it will bring you a list of options one of them is turning off airplane mode

Go on your computer and reset your Gmail password. then try again. It should do the trick.

I am not gonna test my theory since I don't want to risk having to do a hardware reset.
I think before the phone tries to connect to the Google service it will prompt you with a 'turn off airplane mode/turn on mobile data/WiFi' option, like it does when you open an app that requires WiFi or GPS when those radios are switched off.
Try it

Thanks.

Good one, I didn't know that.
Ahh, great. Thanks All.
the only annoying thing is that you have to enter your pin everytime you switch back to phone mode. is that related to winmo?

It's related to the fact you are turning your phone on, and you have your SIM card set to ask for PIN. So simply turn it off if you don't like it.

[Q] Screen won't turn off

For some reason my screen won't shut off when I press the power button or by itself after any amount of time. I made sure all of the settings were set right that might keep it on. I know it's not hardware damage because I've pretty much never dropped it or handled it hard. The power button still works because it will get the turn off, restart, etc screen to go. Any idea how to fix it? I already did a factory reset.

Download wakelock detector and see which app is keeping your screen on.
Dialed that number, the dimming worked, but the sleep button didn't do anything. I'll try that app out and see what it says.
In my understanding *#0*# dialing is for hardware check, if sleep is not working from there means it has nothing to do with any app & better to take to service centre.

It didn't do it until after I tried to change my boot screen. Know if that would do anything? No boot animations go off besides the galaxy note 3 one (no Tmobile or samsung animation, and no shut off animation). I also rooted it so would they still help me even though the knox counter is 0x1?
Any help? Using the wakelock app it says that system manager application is used a lot more than anything else. Not sure what it does.

Try to flash complete stock ROM & clear Data & Catch before & after flashing from recovery may HELP.
That fixed it. I'm not sure why I didn't already try that since it seems kinda obvious. Don't know what made it do that though. Do you happen to know if modifying the boot animations can mess other things up?
Mine its not rooted still stock and all of the sudden started acting up with the screen ....i did the *# test and when i went to sleep it went straight to the lock screen ...any idea what could cause it

Mine does this every time I reboot my phone. I have to press and hold the home key, pick the pie chart, pick RAM and pick "Clear Memory". Then it's fine til the next time I reboot.
I had my note 3 with the same problem and solved it recovering the original system/media/bootsamsung*.qmg files.
to solve the problem plug the charger and unplug it immediately and plug it back in again. This is also the reason why the problem is caused. So doing it again will solve the problem.

Google Authentication??

I got my new S8+ today and set everything up using only wireless. During setup, I forgot my google password so I reset it. After I got everything setup, I shutdown and inserted the SIM card. To my surprise, my phone reset completely. Now when I try to reconfigure the phone, during the google password authentication process, I get a message that I the phone was reset and because of the password change I can't use it for 24 hours?? What kind of crap is that? Does anyone know how to get around this??? I can't use my new phone at all because I can't get logged in??

Can you login and authenticate on a web browser? Have you tried to boot into stock recovery, do a factory reset and don't login to your google account during setup?
Try PWR + VOL UP or PWR + VOL Down to get into recovery mode once you boot up the phone.

I can't get into recovery mode. I tried PWR and Vol up and down and neither works, phone just boots. There is no home button on the S8 so how do you get to recovery?

Ok, you have hold the Bixby button also. This is really strange. I can login to my account on my PC but not on the phone? What kind of security is this? Designed to tick you off, that's all I can see.

Guess the Bixby button acts like the old home button. Were you able to do a factory reset and see if that fixed the issue?

Yes, I was able to factory reset but it didn't solve the problem. Googles ridiculous security won't let you use a new password on a phone that has been reset for 24 hours? Why can't you verify who you are and continue. Severe overkill if you ask me. The worst thing is, I didn't reset the phone, the google software did! All I did was setup the phone and reboot it and it reset itself...
Even weirder, is that during the setup, you can say you forgot password. You then have an option to send a request to reset your password to your old device. When you say yes, your old device gets a prompt and you can reset your password. Even that doesn't work on a reset phone!
The more I think about this google security method, the more I realize it is designed to punish one person, the true owner of the phone. If my phone had been actually stolen, and it wasn't me that reset the password or the phone, the thief will still have access in 24 hours so that part of the security hasn't played any part at all. So I the true owner of the phone is being punished because my phone reset itself. Makes no sense at all. Security has to be something that is logical and not crippling. This policy cripples your phone and punishes you if you have an accidental reset. Thanks for nothing Google!!
Sorry to hear that. By any chance you called Google for tech support?
Call up google and they should be able to fix it.
Also you can skip the google account and log into the phone you just cant use gmail or playstore.
And there is a way around this i just dont remember what it was. Had to do this to my wifes phone a while back when she forgot her password.
I think it was to skip the google sign in, in setup. Then add the log into google via the web browser and then add the google acccount via system accounts.

I wish it was that easy. Google said nothing they can do. Have to wait 24 hours.
Not sure if this new with OS7 but you cant get by the Google log on screen any longer. The NEXT key is greyed out so you cant bypass. Only have 5 more hours to wait.

Thats sucks and good to know. Sorry you had to be that guy to find out for the rest of us. Thanks for taking one for the team!
You have to wait 24-48 hours to get into your phone. It'a a security measure from google against stolen phones.
I had the same problem with an S7edge, depending on firmware version there were methods to bypass the FRP ( if I remember well). I succwded after 6 hours using a bluetooth handfree, launching s-voice, launching a program who disabled the FRP.
What is very frustrating is that in my google acount S7edge was there as my device, but there was no option to skip login to google in the initial setup.

Yup....Does exactly what it's supposed to do. Forces you to put your phone down to concentrate on other things with no distractions. Not sure I would ever use it myself and it would just be another app on my phone taking up space. I just put my phone down or turn it off if I really need to do something...Simple concept really.

From what I understand it disables everything but Camera and emergency calls.
you cant. You missing all the point of this app )))
I've tried Zen Mode this morning and found out it was unstable and bypass-able
- Notifications still come through to Ambient Display
- Can be bypassed if you use Oneplus Navigation Gesture. Just swipe it up and hold to access Recent App, and switch to another one. Alternatively, you can also access Recent Apps when the camera app is open. Launcher cannot be accessed though.
- You can even go as far as to Setting and force stop the Zen Mode app, but this does nothing; Zen mode is still on
- It loses count some times (timer freezes, although the countdown still going in background). Go to camera and go back may solve this
Well, that's why...
It's not stable on 6T yet.
If you have Google assistant enabled by holding down the power button, it will, at least in my experience, come up and you can tell it to open settings and disable it from there ??
