Holding menu doesn't force the keyboard up? - Hero, G2 Touch General

Correct me if I'm wrong but on the Magic if you hold down Menu it forces up the on screen keyboard? Can't get it to do it on the Hero.

Could anyone explain what is the "QKeyLedOnOff" registry key for?
How do I make the Backlight button work for the QWERTY buttons as well? I mean when I press that key, I get the keyboard lights up rather than just the screen!!

Middle button.

So on a touch diamond, there's the middle button. (In the middle of nav pad)
I would like to know if it is able to configure the key so that when you press it, it brings you back to the home screen, just like how the iphone works.
Sorry for my bad english.

pressing the upper left button with the homesymbol takes you directly to the homesscreen
But i would like to configure it so that it closes all running programs and return to the home screen.
Thanks for the help anyways.

qwerty key board

Hi
on my htchd2 its on the phone type key board, how do i put it back to the qwerty key board..

If you keep the keyboard-button pressed you should get a menu where you can choose. So far I haven't really figured out why, but in 8 out of 10 trys it doesn't work, so you just have to keep trying. If you have Total Commander installed then do it in that program, in there I get the menu almost every time...
No, you don't press on the keyboard but the small arrow on the right-hand side of the keyboard icon. That will show all available onscreen keyboards

Virtual keyboard

How can I close the virtual keyboard? On my N1 I could just hold the menu key and it would close. Doesn't work on the G2.
Mine goes away when I tap the text box or press the "back" button
I was wondering the same thing. I miss long pressing menu to open and close keyboard

Nice. Back is working for me. I thought I tried that. I had found tapping the text box but it doesn't work in every case.

GB: Press and hold Menu button. . .

Accidentally found out that while in an app that has fields, pressing and holding the menu button brings up the keyboard - whether you are in a editable field or not.
For example, click Search button, and press Back to hide the keyboard. Now without pressing the address bar, press and hold the menu key - keyboard pops up.
This has been present in froyo too
oops!

This is present in every android phone that does not feature a hardware keyboard.
