put your phone in hand and bit with the finger( drop the finger on the buttons, on the metal or on the back)

It's a setting in your phone, i'll translate it from a Dutch device:
Goto Settings and click on the left bottom of the screen on More.
In Tab: System you will find: TouchFlo.
Inthere you can (un)check if you wan't your phone to vibrate or not when touching the screen.
In some occasions my phone still vibrates but i don't find it anoying so i didn't bother that and don't know how to change it.

And your phone drops on the floor and the vibrating is gone because phone is broken.

Nope sorry, no vibration here just the sound of my finger against the case. For example it doesnt rattle/vibrate etc when shaken either.

I read in czech forum about that noise. Somebody wrote there, it could be shade of camera. ???

noise is in bottom part of the phone

I've read about noise nearby camera lens

My phone also does it, I thaught it might be coming from the vibrator inside.

i do think so , just hoping it's not a big problem.

what was the noise by the camera lense? do you have a link?

Hi
I think it is the accelerometer, my laptop which has one to detect if it is falling also makes the same noise.
Regards
Phil

what is the accelerometer? is it normal then or something to worry about. if you tap the top of the phone with your finger you can hear something like a faint ratle or something along them lines.

I think i know the sound you mean, and if we thinking of the same sound its the focuus in the camera. you hear the same sound after you take a photo and the focus releases

Could be indeed. The lens is suspended on a wire spring so an electro magnet can move it in and out to focus. So it would move about if the camera is shaken.
An accelerometer of the type in our phones I think is the same sort of thing, a magnet or coil of wires suspended on a wire spring so it can move about.
The noise is normal.

Phil

Hello,
I have the same noise... i think that is the camera lens or the stylus... not a big problem...

[REF]Managed HTC Light Sensor SDK released (with source)

I published the HTC Accelerometer SDK a while ago, and have been spending some time off and on trying to find out how to get access to the Nav API. No luck there yet, but I did figure out how to access the light sensor.
The updated API and source is available at:
http://www.koushikdutta.com/2008/07/htc-light-sensor-sdk.html
Koush
can you give us compiled exe?
where are the lightsensor? is it the front/back cam?
how often will auto light adjust update?
alltime? once per power on switch? once per minute?
when the autolight is not set, and it will be done by frontcam, we can safe cams energy, by switching off automatic backlighht adjust. cameras are needing a lot of power.
can anybody confirm that?
WooooWWW this keeps getting better!
Thanks HTC
Please.. Somebody will make a "really" adjustable light settings util with this SDK.. I want to set min backlit level to lower for totaly dark enviroments... because default one is too much than required..
Sorry for my poor English..
Sure, I'll make a utility to do that. Give me a bit though, I'm coding up the Nav sensor SDK right now.

enable light sensor back after call was terminated.

Thank you,
I have noticed on the new Bang & Ollefson and another new highend phone [not iphone] they are set so that when the display is away from the air is is visable...against ear off......thus...
when you are looking at the display it is visable
when phone is covered by ear...display is off
take phone away from ear....display comes back on
back to ear display goes off....etc...
This is a fantastic feature and has a wow factor as a sales tool.

Nice work Koush - and I completely agree with the above quote. I'm surprised HTC didn't have this already included, having to press a button to wake the display is kind of stupid since it gets turned off by the light sensor

This happens with the iPhone too.
It's exactly what we need to make the Diamond much better. I don't want the backlight on during a call as its a waste of battery - but I hate having to push the power button during a call if I need to enter a number or change to speakerphone etc.
How could HTC have missed out such a simple feature? Hopefully this is something that can easily be coded in? Fingers crossed

Any news here? I'd appreciate a tool or tweak to define minimal backlight level for myself because of the same reason.
somebody got ahead regarding the customization of automatic backlight changing with this api?
regards
this would be great if someone with programming skills looked into it!!! ie not me!
You don't have to press power button while on call to enable the backlight. Pressing the middle button (circle) will enable backlight and wont do anything with the call

Sound when shaking the X1?!

Greetings All,
this is my first windows mobile device ever (although i'm a .Net Developer)
i noticed one strange thing in my X1, whenever i shake the mobile i hear a sound like there is something inside the device (upper side) moving freely!
does anyone else have the same thing? or should i return the device for replacement?
Also mine!
And also other three device that I check.
So I think it's normal.
Herard that as well...but it was reportet only if you hold your X1 vlosely to your ear...
What you hear might be the vibrator.
All the X1's have it, I was also worried when I received mine and made a thread. Haven't found/spoke to one person who hasn't got it yet. One person rang them up and asked if it was supposed to be like that and was told it is, but still no idea why.
As previously said it could be the vibrator.
Well, ok then! but i wonder where it's comming from.
i will check it out when i open the device. but i don't want to void my warranty so soon
I think it's the optical joystick. Hold the phone upside down and listen.
The vibrator is placed in the opposite corner.
Hi.
I confirm, on mine, the sound comes from the optical joystick.
mine has it too, but it's not the optical joystick.
maybe an accelerometer?
no accelerometer. everyone has it i think. no need to worry.
nope, not the optical joystick.
im not worried about it any more.
I guess no one should be. the good thing is that time will reveal the truth about this.
if I came to know anything about this I will immediately post it here.
looooooooool
your "scary" sounds is from volume keys and camera button Take in hand blocking them and you can't ear anything (at least, on my device )
no camera or volume keys. It is from inside.
Anyway, it sounds like an orientation sensor, not necessarily an accelerometer, but who knows?
HTC did it, so it might be there waiting to be activated from drivers )))
Maybe SE has an Xmas surprise for us )))
I find it slightly irritating, as when I have the phone in a car holder it vibrates and makes an annoying rattling sound. I daren't open the phone up to find it, so I guess I'll just have to be irritated...

No boy.
It's a simple noise. If you press the upper and bottom part (display and keyb) you can hear no sound.

yes, it's not there anymore!!!! but when you stop pressing, it comes back!
Yes, mine is exactly the same Got to be from the slider mechanism. Anyone got some pictures of it?
No need to worry....the first day i when i recived my x1 i also shaked it the whole day. But then I read in a german forum that this is the gearwheel of the slider...everyone in that forum also said that he had that ticking noise.
BUT
I have another problem with the slider. When I use the touchscreen (especially in the right upper corner) the screen drawback a bit and its like pushing a button because when i release the pressure it makes a little tick. i think this has to do with the mounting of the slider.
Greetings
Dunnam
was at the service centre .. for other issues too.. they told me the rattle function is just the loose keys.. i got owned ! lol

Xperia X1-somethink grumble inside??

Hi i have question. In me Sony Ericsson xperia X1 from first day somethink rattling in side.Exactly in high side ceel phone (around picture camera lens)If i only litle shake with this cell phone you can easy hear this ratttling. You have this problem with your Xperia???i makc phone call to sony ericsson technic today and he said. This rattling is regular.if you have any experience let me now please?Thank you.
Dont worry, it is for all the X1.
There was a thread here for the same "isue"
it's one of the buttons...
Rattling
No it not one of the buttons im sure about this this rattling is inside the cell phone.
it's the lens
Hi,
that noise you hear is the lens in a certain focus position.
I found, that in a certain position the lens it moves and makes noise.
After using a program called QuickMark, my lens keeps moving and to fix it I've to open the camera and press the camera button till it moves the lens for changing the focus.
After that, no more noise.
There are actually two different sources for the rattling noise.
If you shake you your phone up/down in it's horizontal position you will hear the lens. If you shake it up/down in it's vertical position, you will hear the supporting wheels for the sliding mechanism.
I dont think its the support wheels for the sliding mechanism, i beleive its the touch D pad that makes the rattling noise
Try holding the touch D pad and shaking it - the rattling noise will be significantly lower (considering the camera rattling)

I thought that too at first, but by holding the touch pad you also give the screen part of the phone a press enough to letting the wheels rest on the keyboard part, thus lowering the noise. When not pressing the two parts together, the wheels have no contact to the keyboard part, which give them free movement to rattle.
really?, I'm pretty sure its the Dpad, try wedging like a bit of paper between the touchpad and Dpad keys [thick enough to stop the touchpad from moving] then try shaking - rattling solved for me . . .

Nah, not for me.
Conclusion: we have three rattling noises depending on the individual phone. Mine is the supporting wheels and the camera lens, not the touchpad. Yours the opposite.
Glad I'm not having all three of them. On the other hand, it really doesn't bother me, just curious where the noise originates from.
i just notice that mine was doing the same thing 2day. actually i just heard it.
for it its the wheel. cuz at first i dunno wat it is. but then i got a pin and held the wheel down and then shook it again but then no rattle occur.
is this normal?????
i kinda want to get it fix since it did cost alot. and i only had this phone for like 20 days...
it is the sliding mechanism, try pressing the 2 parts of your x together (closing the gap between the screen and the KB) then shake it again, you will find it's gone.
check here for more info
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=457777
well by pressing down on it it does stop for the time that im holding it down.
but is there a way to fully solve this loose wheel on the sliding mechanism?
i don't think so,
soon you will forget it's there, don't worry
lols yea...i hope so...i just spend soo much on it...i dun want it to just "fall apart" lols
but thanks for the info
It's the camerabutton. Touch it..it's a little loose.
Lol
Who actually shook their phone hard enough to hear this? I just shook mine and I can hear what is said to be te lens but is quite possibly the d-pad, and what is certainly the tiny rattle of the little slider wheels.
Barely noticable, especially since I don't go around shaking my Xperia.

phone disconnecting while on a call

Hi everyone--
I just got my HD2 a couple of weeks ago, and there is one problem that is consistently driving me NUTS. Because the screen is so large, while I am on a phone call, some part of my ear (and they are a normal size) is touching something on the screen that disconnects the call. Is there a way to cut down on the screen sensitivity while on a call, or simply disable the screen while I am on the phone? I've searched in many places, and can't find an answer anywhere. Please help, if you are able, before this problem drives me insane! Thanks in advance--
I would say something else is going on, as the HD2 has a proximity sensor that is "supposed" to switch off the screen when it is at your ear ...
And Mine does, so if yours is not then something else may be going on ...
trippster, test it like this:
call your voicemail, and keep the phone in your hand away from your face. once the call is connected, hold your thumb over the spot on the face of the phone just to the left of the ear speaker and tmobile logo...that should trigger it to switch the screen off until you move your finger

Moto G5 Plus back camera infrared permanent blinking

As the tittle says, on the back camera there's something like an infrared led or laser that I'm guessing it's used by the camera to focus better. (This light is only visible from a camera, can't be seen with the human eye)
The thing is that I noticed it's permanent blinking even when the phone is locked and the screen is off.
Is it intented, does anyone know more about this?
Haven't found anything related to it.

Those are proximity sensors and they are not used for focus
Dual pixel auto focus sensors are in the camera sensor, in every pixel... Those are proximity sensors and the can't be turned off even by kernel side...
