Just in case you didnt know! - Hero, G2 Touch General

Not sure if anyone has been looking fot them or if anyone knows, BUT the Hero manual and HTC sync are loaded onto the supplied memory card.
Just connect it to your pc select notifications at the top of your hero then you you should see USB connected. Select it and then select mount. It then sees your Hero as a USB drive. Just drag and drop the files onto your pc`s desktop. Then install HTC sync. It then allows you to sync contacts in outlook etc.

Thanks for the hint!

You might find it if you lost it on the HTC-site. Its hard to find, but with a trick you are able to get there..

HTC Sync

I've just installed HTC Sync on my vista machine (fully updated) and after the install when browsing other folders through explorer it caused explorer to continually crash and restart. Anyone else experienced this issue? I had no such issues with my XP machine which synched fine
I just installed this on Vista and it will not connect to my Hero. I dragged it off the SD card (in the hero) thus vista can see the hero, but htc sync says 'disconnected'.
Reboots, reinstalls.... def a no goer here.

If you suss out a sync solution to for i'll be a happy punter.
for getting it working on win 7 you need to install the android sdk and install the ADB driver from there.
If that doesn't work there is a magic one on the forum that works fine for 64 bit win7
To sync with a mac you can sync addressbook with a gmail account out of the box now or you can export a group vcard then upload that to gmail so that sorts the contacts and ical can sync with google calendar by using calaborator
http://code.google.com/p/calaboration/
Will try installing the ask and report back

I found that too
yep I've found that too, I run the magic sync vista 32 bit driver as admin, the phone asks me if I want to set it to sync mode, the cmd window on screen indicates that its found it, then nothing.
This is frustrating for me now, come on HTC!!

That doesn't work on Vista either. You can see the SD card but the sync prog is never found (ie that 2.0.4 one you have posted).

I think the easiest current solution is to sync with gmail/gcal Paul. It's what I am doing. Saying that, I am back using my Kaiser atm
I found co-pilot too buggy and I need gps
Because the HTC sync is'nt working I just transfered my callender and contacts straight to gmail, and thats working flawlessly.
There's still google sync from companionlink, wich syncs Your Desktop Outlook to Google Calendar and Contacts. 15-Day Trial is free, after that it costs once $29,99, but then, You have nearly exchange capabilities (well not exactly to be honest, cause it syncs in Intervalls of 15 mins and not in relatime). Great tool, works like a charm, i can only recommend. http://www.companionlink.com/products/companionlinkforgoogle.html

How to get HTC sync work
Hi all,
I managed on how to get HTC Sync work for windows 7 (64 bit). I should work the same way for vista if having troubles.
How to get sync working:
- Copy all driver files to:
C:\Program Files (x86)\HTC\HTC Driver\Driver Files\Vista_x64
- Install HTC Sync with administrator rights (By coping the files from the previous step, the installation isn't giving an error message anymore).
- Wire up youre HTC Hero to the computer
- Install the drivers in windows for your HTC device.
1 Push start button
2 Click with right mouse button on `Computer`, Pop-up appears
3 ´Click on properties. Screen: "Control Panel\System and Security\System" appears.
4 Click on Device manager
5 Search for ADB at `Other devices`
6 Click right mouse button on ADB and update driver software.
Pop-up "Update Driver Software - ADB" appears. (Not really sure the name was `ADB` but it is something like that, can´t miss it.
7 Click Browse my computer for driver software
8 Browse to the path:
C:\Program Files (x86)\HTC\HTC Driver\Driver Files\Vista_x64
9 Click next
Driver is installed
- The sync symbol should appear beside the USB symbole in the screen of youre Hero. Click on it and it should connect. If the icon doesn´t appear, unplug the hero, shut down youre Hero By pressing and holding the `end` button. When the device started up again, wire it up again and the icon must appear.
This is how i managed to fix it. Hope i described everything completely
Good luck
Not a great solution if you are on a 32bit OS/CPU.

USB drivers - HTC sync not recognizing phone

I'm trying to synchronize Vodafone HTC Dream with PC. But.. there's problem with USB drivers.
I tried almost everything and already searched internet, but my problem seems to be bit different.
All solutions are based on installing proper driver for ADB device or Android device. I my case there's no such device at all!!
All i got is Mass storage device (which is working OK - i can copy files to/from device) and nothing else. Obviously USB drivers doesn't match Mass storage device.
When i'm trying to uninstall this device, system is installing drivers after reconnection automatically, without asking for drivers.
Also already tried Usbdeview - no trace of "Android" device.
Possibly Vodafone stock ROM lack some communication module or smth.. any ideas?
Edit: finally managed to install USB driver from SDK and all devices can be found as required. But HTC sync still shows no phone
as far as i know, such app is not available for us if it says in the back of the phone "with Google" thats it.
I have exact same problem. I am sure I read it is which drivers you have to use.
Now one strange thing I once got it to connect and start to sync but that was months ago. I am sure this is possible or I wouldnt have had it do it beofre. I have to say I didnt let it finish due to not knowing what settings were in at the time ie didnt want to wipe all outlook contacts, but I am sure it can be done its just how.
Have just installed evils current rom which is fantastic all i need is sync to outlook and I will be happy.
I have it set to synce my outlook to my googlemail contacts and calenders and yes that works but doesnt take all photos of contacts across.
Any ideas from someone in the know would be great

had the same problem on vista.
to resolve:
1. go to device manager (right click my computer, hit manage, then Device Manager on left pane)
2. go to USB Controller and expand. if you can find which usb device corresponds to that of your phone's, then alls you need to do is uninstall that particular driver (right click, uninstall). if not, you'll have to go thru each one and uninstall. once done, this will force the computer to rerecognize your device. you will probably have to reboot once since you'll probably have uninstalled your mouse and keyboards drivers as well. lol.
3. at this point, install your drivers by selecting "browse my computer for driver software," and locating the updated drivers.
that did it for me. hope this helps.
After searching across internet since yesterday conclusion is only one: avoid phones signed "by Google" as much as you can.
Avoid it as you would avoid sex with HIV-positive shemale from Ethiopia.
Phones "by Google" basically can sync ONLY with Google. But.. Google is the place where is main problem. Google's addressbook just sucks. There is only one place for both first and last name. If you sync Windows Mobile device or Symbian device or just your Outlook it will not recognize which part of name is first name and which is last name.
Because in WinMo you can choose how every contact is displayed, Google will read just actual view, not real data.
In result you get incredible mess in your addressbook with some contacts displayed "Firstname Surname" and some contacts "Surname Firstname".
Second problem is if you edit some entries and sync again, Google won't recognize changes and create copies!!!
Threre's no other way to sync your device with Outlook. If you export address book to .csv file you going to loose your photos and some data.
If you use SyncML effect will be similiar to .csv file.
Again - avoid phones "by Google" as much as you can. If you want Android - buy HTC Hero or Motorola CLIQ or anything without "by Google" logo which comes with 3rd party tools like HTC Sync.
Be warned.

have you tried 'settings-applications-develop-usb debugging' enabled?
my taiwan HTC magic seems not to be able to use mass storage device and debug usb device at the same time.
I faced with similar problem. May be it can help.
My info: Windows XP SP3, HTC Magic 32A. I have installed last HTC Sync 2.0.4 already.
When my phone was with official ROM - HTC Sync recognized phone.
Then i uploaded custom ROM CyanogenMod 32A Port with custom kernel too and HTC Sync went to blind. I tried reinstall drivers, HTC Sync, USBDeview but nothings helped.
Then i reverted to official ROM with my nandroid backup (i will do backups often, they really help =). And HTC Sync found my phone and i syncronized successfully.
p.s. USB Drivers from Android SDK are drivers for ADB interface. They need to manipulate with files and roms. HTC Sync use other drivers.
32A and modded system - that's why your HTC Sync is working.
If you have 32B and/or original system, there's some files missing and HTC Sync won't recognize phone.
That's what i said - "by Google" means no connectivity. Files required for HTC sync were added by HTC and phone sold with these files can not be "with Google"
Yes I think i agree, i got an HTC my touch 3g the 32B 2.2.1 android over ebay paid just $72 and it is nothing but problems. i can not get the Sync or any other programs to connect under windows vista (even though it does connect under Linux-Ubuntu) Perhaps the Google version is very difficult to root or whatever else you want to do.

Anyone run HTC Sync to sync MyTouch w/Outlook?

I know T-Mo does not include HTC Sync with the MT3. I wonder if anyone is running HTC Sync to sync Outlook Calendar and Contacts directly with MT3. Does HTC Sync work with the MT3 and allow direct syncing? I want to get a MT3 for my wife. She has everything in Outlook and direct sync'g would be so much easier than going through Google. Thanks for the help.
androidusb
I got HT Sync running with a myTouch 3G Slide.
I added the following line:
%MyHTC%=HTCAND64.Dev, USB\VID_0BB4&PID_0E03&MI_01
in the androidusb.inf located in <ProgramFiles x86>\HTC\HTC Driver\Driver Files\Win7_x64
And reinstalled the driver for the unknown device in the device manager. I got a message that it was not signed, but it is now detetcted by HTC Sync (2.0.33)
HTC Sync 2.0.35 & MTSlide...no joy...repeat..no joy
Installing 2.0.35 in Vista Home Premium 32 bit SP2 goes just fine. However, when the phone is connected via USB the device manager, while recognizing there is a MT Slide connected, puts up a Yellow Yield icon next it's name in the Android Devices category.
Anyone else run into this issue, or seen this behavior ? If so, I'd be interested to know, what if any headway has been made in getting it to recognize the device copmletely.

HTC Sync does recognise the HD2 running Android. Mine shows up as a Desire as I'm running Desire based android.
Doesn't sync tasks tho.
You can export all your Outlook info as CSV, then go to your Gmail account and upload everything It will show up on your phone later.
Here's info on tasks:
http://googlesystem.blogspot.com/2008/12/gmail-tasks.html
It should let ya migrate from outlook to G-Calendar, then all the stuff will magicaly appear on your phone
Hope it helps!

HD2 Gingerbread vs HTC Sync

Hi,
I am not sure if someone else asked this question. I updated my phone to Nand Gingerbread. Everything works great. However, the major problem I am having is that HTC Sync (on Win7 laptop) does not recognize the device.
In the previous Android (2.2), when we used to connect it to the PC, many options would appear to identify the type of the connection. One of those options was "HTC Sync". Choosing this option used to allow HTC Sync software on the windows pc to recognize the device and sync its contents.
However, in Gingerbread I cannot find anyway to connect my HD2 in a "sync" mode in order to allow HTC Sync to recognize it.
Any help is appreciated.
Thanks,
htc sync requires htc sense.

It works with your dilema and you'll be back to syncing:

ooo good find, i looked high and low for an outlook sync solution, cant believe i missed this.
it also seems to include the adb usb drivers, so perhaps this could be installed instead of the whole android sdk for the adb drivers....

Anyways, my problem is that before I flash my HD2 to Gingerbread, I had Froyo Sense, and I synchronized all my contacts to HTC Sync on my PC, and now after I flashed I found that I cannot get those contacts back...
So I guess my only solution is to flash back to Froyo Sense, get those contacts, sync them using MyPhoneExplorer, and then Flash again to Gingerbread.
Thanks for the help everybody.

HTC Sync uses outlook, you need to look in the setting in the app, you can re-sync your outlook contacts with this program. Thats what its meant for also.

You have to install the tool on your win7 from here.
After that install My Phone Explorer Client from the Market. Connect your phone via WLAN or USB and start the Client on the phone. After that start the app from your win7 and set up your sync source (Outlook/Windows Contacts/Gmail/only MyPhoneExplorer) in settings or via new phone assistent.
You can now sync Contacts/Appointments/SMS/Files/Tasks and Notes (new with separate phone app).
It's the first sync solution where you can sync outlook tasks and notes, I love the tool.
