G1 on the small screen - G1 General

If anyone saw The Closer last night, a G1 helped to save the day.

Samurai Hermes?

Well my 8525 appears to have a certain love for koi ponds or is a true samurai. I was taking some pictures at the Anderson Japanese Garden in Illinois and I take it out to txt a friend and it completely slips from my hand, flying close to 5ft towards the pond and in it goes. I took it out of the pond, took the battery and the sim card and dashed for the restrooms and put the hand drying blower on it until it dried.
I was thinking of letting it dry until tomorrow and try it out, but to be honest I don't have much hope, but I was still wondering if this has happened to anybody here and if there's anything I should try if it doesn't start or if I should do anything else before I start it up.
The thing is, just last night I stopped by my local AT&T store to ask about the Kaiser's release date. I was curious about the Kaiser although I wanted to hold out until maybe the next gen or something but I guess my phone got jealous and decided to commit suicide today.
I guess being in a japanese garden that was the closest to seppuku that my phone could do it itself to keep its honor.
Couldn't wait
Alright I couldn't wait and decided to give it a try. Everything works, I can even make phone calls, but the screen is white. I can barely make out traces of the image, but I can do everything, even browse the internet.
Any thoughts regarding how to fix the lcd? Don't want to open it up yet as it seems to be working, so I'll wait for some feedback. I can even post pictures if anybody wants to see what it looks like.
Look at my posts in this thread. Mine took a bath, got the white screen, but after while recovered and is now my backup (insurance) phone. It also hit the water a second time and recovered well. I really love this 8525. I suggest you open it up, take the battery and SIM card out, and leave it for a good week or so, then try it. Worked for me!

HD2 Screen Heals itself...!!

Well, after my HD2 was dropped for the third time to the solid ground from my desk height (75cm) ... The first two times nothing happened, astonishing...
however, the third drop was stronger, and my Screen on the right up corner turned into BLACK covering the OK and Battery ICONS...
I have noticed that after three days, the Black spot was getting smaller and the battery icon started to appear...
I kept monitoring, and guess what! Now after a full week, the WHOLE Black SPOT Disappeared
i am really surprised, so i liked to share this info with you ...
Note: i am using a screen protector, maybe thats why it didn't break yet hopefully never...
well, congrats then
Same here, but mine isn't fully recovered, still has a very little "black pointing", but is almost unnoticeably.
I would go as far to suggest that the screen itself wasn't damaged, per se, but bits were pushed together and over time they have settled back to their correct positions.
which Screen protector you are using ?

I wonder what r u doing m8 that your phone dropped 3 times from your desk .
Stop dropping it - that will keep it in great condition.
Sounds like you've been REALLY lucky so quite while you're ahead!
Its normal. I threw mine out of an aeroplane into the sea. 3 weeks later I found it on my doorstep, dripping wet but otherwise working fine. (I can only assume it used my Tomtom home location to find its way back).
I obviously needed to dry it out so I threw it into a blast furnace for a few days, but it was too hot to put to my ear when it rung, so it went into a vat of liquid nitrogen to cool down.
Still working great
this is a PDA not a can opener. you'll better watch out 'coz next time luck will just sit there and laugh in your face.
Lol

hi
i have HTC HD2 and its new device , i set down on the device then i notice a black point comes on the device screen , when i visit the HTC Delare , he told me that i have to change the screen ,
but the device is working 100% and no any damage ,
what can you advice me,
attached the picture of my HTC
Happy to report that HTC is also self-repairing on the Sensation XE.
I Dropped it 2 days ago I thought it was the end of it. everything was a bit loose, the parts of the back cover went out of place (put them back in)
anyway, screen damage was noticeable, black dead pixels were scattered around the top right corner, and in the edge (where the battery and the clock) was heavily damaged and was acting like an old lcd screens, in a way that when I touched it the fluid went from one place to the other. seemed like a permanent damage.
Half a day later I Could almost tell the time, black spots were still over the larger area.
today, i'ts almost fully recovred, almost all of the black pixels are once again alive, and It's only a tiny piece of the top side of the status bar that has no display (~2 pixel high and 10pixel wide).
I dropped it 2 times a day Screen still perfekt but USB is brocken

Dead Aria after 1 week

I'll start by saying I really do love the Aria. I was waiting for a LONG time for AT&T to get a decent android phone and I am very happy with it...Except for the fact that it died one week after I got it. I used the phone one day then put it on the charger. I walked by it about 20 minutes later and the screen was flashing the white screen with the htc logo on it. It would flash and vibrate, then go black and repeat. I took out the battery and put it back in and it would do the same thing. I took it to an AT&T store and they swapped it for another one. I googled around to see if anyone else had this issue and found nothing. I figured I would post it here just for information purposes. I've had the second one for 3 days now and it is working fine.
I have not had that specific issue but the issue I have found is that my battery gets extremely hot which charging if the battery is already fully charged. I also found when I was rooting the phone that the constant on/off process when it didn't work also caused the back of my Aria to get quite warm.
Not sure if that could have been a contributing factor in your case.

Stains disappeared

Hey guys,
So here is an interesting story, I got my desire z about year and a half ago and straight after the first charge a couple of yellow stains started showing up around the keyboard, my guess is that they were caused by the rubber padding, located under the screen part of the phone, heating up. So I went ahead and ripped the padding right off, but sure enough it was too late and the phone was stained for good. But here is a surprising part, just another day I was cleaning my phone when I noticed that the stains have just disappeared, literarily over the space of couple of hours. I mean they were there for over a year and then BAM ! Just vanished. WTF?

Well actually the other day I left my phone out in the rain and it still worked but I put it in rice to be safe. After taking it out I had these yellow stains, but they dissappeared after a day or so, it was weird and annoying though

To replace or not.....

I have posted in a few spots detailing my screen issue and I'm normally a very decisive person but this time I'm really on the fence and would like some input
About a week and half ago I began to notice a small red airbrush looking circle in the middle of my screen. It was centered left to right and favoring the bottom half of the screen. It appeared on dark backgrounds only. Over the next 12 hours it came and went, varying in intensity. Of course I researched it and found numerous accounts of a similar phenomenon where a blue dot was appearing on Moto X 2014 phone's and it was caused by blunt force to the screen or back of the phone. That couldn't possibly be my cause, it just didn't happen. I searched here for the Pure and found a single thread talking again about the "blue blemish" but that's it.
I immediately make up my mind it is not something I'm going to live with as I couldn't keep my eyes off of it. My wife, of course, said I was being to picky but she's lived with a dead pixel on her iPhone since it was brand new. So I don't respect her input here. Well I wake up the next day and it's gone. Totally gone. I tell myself maybe it was a fluke. Maybe I was too drunk and exaggerating things. I said F-it, I'll just let it ride. 8 days later, it reappeared first thing in the morning. I had a very busy day so the next time I picked up my phone around lunchtime it was gone and has not resurfaced. I called Motorola and they immediately offered a replacement which I agreed to and it's en route as we speak.
So here's the thing. I like this phone more than any other phone I've ever owned. I rooted it, I have it set up just like I want it and for the first time I am confident I'll use this phone for years instead of just months like I normally do. I just don't know how I feel taking a refurbished phone in its place. I normally don't balk at the idea but I had two bad LG G4's in a row with reception issues and now this Pure I'm considering trading in has a screen issue that is only around 1% of the time. If I return this one, it could easily pass the tests and get sent back out to someone else. Everything else about this phone is acceptable to me.
Would you take the refurbished one or keep this one? I still have the warranty in tact if the screen acts up worse down the road. I have to mail back the phone within 5 days so I'll have limited time to test it out.

Go with the refurbished unit. You said the screen was really bugging you. You can always get another replacement if you don't like the one they send you.
