Camera Counter shows wrong remaing pictures - Touch Diamond2, Pure General

Hi all,
As the title explains, the counter in the camera (and video mode) shows incorrect amount of pics remaining.
I have about 3 gig of space left on the SD card but it only show haveing space for 190 pics. If i change storage location to main memory it shows space for over 400 pics with only 226meg.
weird huh

Same problem
Sorry to dredge up an old thread. But I have this problem too? Does anyone know how to fix it?

same problem for me too.
have 4gb space on storage card and only 190 photos
estimated.

maybe depends on your ROM?
im using NRG 29/7 build
weird thimg is the counter seemed to have fixed itself yesterday, dont think i changed anything!!!

Im using Topaz Essential 1.8.1 - maybe I need to soft reset my phone. I've got 12 gb free and it says I can take 80 photos.
Yesterday it said I could take 30,000 photos (or something like that).

this happen today with me, when i changed from a 4gb to a 8gb, almost 5gb free and only space for 94 pictures.
Strange issue.
PS: Original rom

well seems to affect people with different roms but what about different camera software versions?
start camera, click options, click advanced, page 5, About
report your camera version
mine is 6.16 build 33888

I've got 6.15 (Build 34231)
I also noticed the counter went down to 59 today (even though I didn't put anything new on the storage card).
Maybe it has something to do with the internal storage?

Yesterday i notice that my card was showing more than 4000 pictures to take, today is showing again very few, must be a bug i noticed that this happens very often, sometimes is right others show wrong info, in my case soft reset doesn't solve it, the values exchange from right to wrong when i connect the device in Disk Drive, pretty odd, it's like one time is only considering the whole 8gb card and others TD2 only considers the card as 4gb+4gb.

Same problem here ! 16 GB SD Card but can only take 140 pictures
I formatted my SD Card FAT32 8192 bytes and now i can take over 10000 pictures
( I'm sorry for my very very very bad english )

Hi incidentally the limit doesn't seem to have any effect. I passed the limit and it jumped up to 10000

miniSD card problems??

my miniSD card keeps crashing.. every time i reformat it.. (just bought it brand new 2 weeks ago.) but it keeps crashing after a little while..
so my girlfriends dad put tomtom 6 on mij sd card last night..
i look in the morning.. and 90% of my mp3 songs wont work anymore.. and my entire map with tomtom in it was gone?????? like wtf??
i got a wizard G3 with the underground edition.. and a 1 GB miniSD card..
reformated it on the computer and with more then 1 program on the phone..
(on the pc was my last time.. (like 2 hours ago...) did not crash so far..)
any1 has a solution for me??
thnx and greetz
where did you buy the card? what brand is it? how did you format it before it crash? is the card size displayed on the PC correct?
i bought it @ norrod in groningen/holland.. brand ... dunno... i used the phone to format it right after i bought it... and yes.. its being displayed normally.. unless it crashes.. cause even on the computer it wont copy things off.
even though.. it crashed again.. all the data was gone.. but at memory it still sees 50 mb used.. :\
god damn it.. i'm going to throw that *#&(#&%(&^)@)(!(@%$& phone out the window :S
I presume Norrod is a name of a shop. Anyway, it seems to be reputable. Unless you can confirm the brand, chances are it may be a faulty one (luck is not on your side). However, the good news is that, it may be a 1 off thing that it may not happen again. There are chances of SD card being wacky if you have your phone hanged and soft reset, which happened to be once when I was messing with my phone. But it never occurred again.
As for formatting on the phone, there are members reporting problems with card formatted on the phone. Since you have formatted on the PC, it ought to solve that problem. Hopefully it won't happen again.
well i had a 512 mb kingston before.. and it crashed 2.. so i threw it away.. cause it had bad sectors.. ( i had that 1 for about 1 year...)
and now this 1 crashes.. i thought mayby it had something to do with the underground edition and the omapclock.. from 180 to 228 or 240..
but it doesn't seem to be.. cause i've been running the last 2 days on normal 180...
I have a 2Gb unbranded memory card and have the same problem, I've managed to find that the memory gets corrupt when the card gets cold (3-4 Deg c), it's fine at room temp.
Got to replace it at some point.
Kingston cards usually have a lifetime guarantee... if you are able to find the package and the card, you may able to get yourself a new card.
hi
Try benchmark tools to evaluate the memory card..
before buying the memory cards..
SD carda
What is it about SD cards and Wizards. If mine takes a slight knock it cant see the card anymore - I have to re-insert it.
I recently got a cheap 2GB card from Hong Kong. Was a load of rubbish. Top tip, dont make the same mistake. Basically had a load of bad sectors and crc write errored all the time.
I have my old 1GB card in at the mo, and apart from the knocking issue (almost certainly a fault with the wizard) it works fine.
Anyone come across the issue where the SD card cant be seen by the phone anymore?

Camera unable to capture - storage full (but it isn't)

Weirdest problem today on my month-old Touch HD.
I have a 16GB microSD card with about 2GB free. The camera is set to Photo mode (single shot) Fine. But after 18 snaps I couldn't take any more pics - the system shows the message:
Unable to capture photo. Disk full.
But there's 2GB of free space on the storage card, so this error is false.
Changing the storage destination to Main Memory resolves the immediate problem so I can at least take pics.
Deleting the 18 JPGs and one mp4 video in the DCIM folder on the storage card allowed me to take pics again. Irritating bug.
Anyone else come across this?
Had the same problem when my 8GB card was almost half full....would only allow me to take a few pics. I then wanted to see what happens when I fill the card up even more.....after going beyond 50% card space, all of a sudden remaining pics would show something like 7000+. Altough your problem appears to bit slightly different....

Got same with 3.5gb left on a 16gb card but not been unable to capture photo yet. One minute it tells me I've got space for 5676, another time it will be 646 and sometimes goes down to 94. Not sure what the problem is but I don't want to be let down by it as I use it for work. I wonder if a good old soft reset would reset the card reading or removing and reinserting the card. That's what I will try if I get stuck anyway.
the same problem occured with my device, it said, that I can take only 3 pics, in full quality, while storage card was almost empty. But after that, I´ve deleted one 800MB file (mp4 movie) and now I can take more than 1400 pics. Anyone experienced something like this? Might be something with file system...
A fix....I think?!
Hi guys, this is my first post on XDA so go easy on me.
I ALSO had this problem where suddenly I had a '0' count on photos left to take, yet 4GB free on the same 8GB card.
This is how I fixed it:
1. Connect the HD to the computer and select 'Disk Drive' rather than 'Activesync'.
2. Defragment the SDCard using the command 'defrag e:' or whatever letter your card has connected as.
When the defrag is done disconnect and try to take photos again.
My 'photos remaining' count went from 0 to 6700 after this!
While this appears to be a way of fixing it, its HTC that need to address this problem with a patch.
Theres likely to be defrag programs for WinMob as well that could do the trick.

Not bad for a first post!
Welcome to the addiction!!
Further to my last post...
According to this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=433818 Defragging your MicroSD is a bad idea.
I certainly didn't experience any issues, it ran my storage card based Sat Nav software fine.
If your concerned that a defrag will damage your card (I certainly have no concerns) then move the contents of your card to the computer, format the SD Card and move the files back again and don't worry about the defrag.

well i think this is pointless copying all the files to ur PC, deleting any SD crap and then copy them back to the card will actually defrag them (i think)..
Cause it will copy one file at a time
Problem is with one of the files being corrupted, resulting in false oversize file.
Solution to this is either completely formatting SD card, or using scandisk in windows.

SD Card Storage and HD Camera

HD Camera can use 4GB only!?
I am using 8GB microSD. Recently I copied more movie to SD Card (near 4GB). Today I get the warning of not enough storage place to save the photo....
My HD is HK chinese rom and I changed the storage to "Storage Card". Is it HD 's problem or somthing setting wrong?
thx
Had the exact same problem......copied some more files to the HD to go over 4GB (half full) and camera says now it can take several thousands of pix again....
Never tried on my 16GB card, since it´s already more than half full.....so yes, seems to be a bug on the HD

Yes, it should be a bug. I tested, when I fill up over 4GB my Storage Card, then I can take more over 5 thousand photos again. I reported this bug to HTC, might somebody else could report this bug to HTC...

Camera not reading SD Card properly

Hi just wondering if anyone else has this problem, at the moment i have my camera set to save to storage card and i have 8gb free space left of my 16gb card, however the camera app says i only have enough space for 32 pictures and after 32 have been taken it says storage card is full.
Switching to phone memory lets me have 160ish pictures which is about right but i cant seem to get any more than 32 on sd card, any ideas?
just do a soft reset and it'll cure the problem. i had that problem before but find this answer by accident. it was driving me mad.
Ahh yes thank you

disappearing pictures

HELLO everyone.
Please help me with the further painfull problem.
I bought brand new s7 edge. It was great phone. Somehow it transformed in photo destroyer. It has got 64 gb sd card bought brand new also. I save images to phones internal memore and sometimes to sd. It corrupts my photos on regular basis...
I feel like this pgone become piece of ****. I cant actually handle disappearing photos...
To clarify things, i use android ftom the ages of s2. I am familiar with how it works pretty well. However i cant find any logical explanation for that. Please have a look at images attached.
This phone became nightmare. In case of impossible recovery, it is possible to open law case against samsung? It sounds the same as vw selling cars with diesel gas emmision trick. Or even wors imagine buying brand new cars with no brakes.
My sd card works fine. All the photos and videos i took were good for some time. Afterwards it become corrupted.
Quick pick doesnt help. Nomedia files doesnt exist. Tried clearing cach of apps, cleared phone cach through recovery. Phone is full stock.
Sorry if its duplicate thread but xda search doesnt work...
Btw third picture is irrelevant. It showed up us corrupted so i tried uploading it. It seems to be good. Not sure about the others.
Looks like you're using a 3rd party gallery app, Google Photos? Have you tried the regular gallery app?
What is the make and model of the sd card?
Sent from my S7 Edge
Same thing was happening on my S6. Nearly all photos after every rom reflash were corrupted. And they didn't even work on other devices like computer etc. I haven't ever fixed that.
All You can do is download a app that does file recovery. It will scan Your phone for like 5 minutes and then show You all files. Eventually all those pictures will be back but with poor quality. They look like android has cached them or something. They are usually 100-300kb and have weird names with just numbers.
I will later on write the make of my sd card. I believe it is sandisk high class 64 gb bought brand new. Formated in phone. However pictures disappear not only from card but internal memory aswell.
As i didnt flash any roms yet i should be covered with warranty. I feel like this su edge is far from good. Could it be internal memory corruption? Or what...
Update no 1 to the situation:
It all started when i was taking pictures of the clouds. Camera app froze. So naturally i closed camera app and opened it again. Same happened. Shutter button was frozen. And the mini gallery button was unresponsive. Then i restarted the phone. It took ages. I noticed the blue notification led was on for a long time and restart itself took ages. The phone sit there for about 10 min with that blue light. I thought it was dead. It didnt respond to any button combinations, like power press or power long press. Even recovery combination didnt respond. And later on it booted.
Update 2. Now i performed media rescan. I see thumnails but then i press pocture it shows grey screen and same sort symbol of corrupted media file. I took some new pictures of my gf. Looked at them later on. Tried to send them through the mail to gf. She never received no email even though it was said "email was sent" on screen. After a while they was gone. Gone like never existed...

So even after flashing new roms the same happened? I believe it must be faulty memory unit then. That is really sad. I never expected to buy phone for 820 euros and get this piecie of s***...
What happens when you select one of those photos? Do they display?.......
If so, then possibly your thumbnail cache is corrupt.
Try looking in both internal and external SD cards within the DCIM and Camera folders and remove any thumbnail folders, and also look within the Android folder on the root of both cards for your gallery app, and see if there are thumbnail or cache folders within there.
Its also worth trying to delete cache+data for your gallery app. If you remove anything, reboot before opening your app.
If they do not open on selecting, if you have a USB micro sd card reader, then try copying your external SD card contents to PC, format external SD card (via the phone, and not via windows) and copy back
Another thing to try is to clear cache+data for Media Storage.

I think my leftovers were in some data folder or one of the folders in the root directory ( / ). But other than that I guess it has to be a faulty unit. Cause now my S7 Edge doesn't do that anymore.
But don't worry, faulty units are really COMMON. I've had quite many phones with different issues. Some of them had broken USB port, some used to restart every hour or two. But don't think that only Android phones have those issues. My IPhone 6 also had a broken call speaker. And yeah. You have to be REALLY LUCKY to get a device that isn't faulty nowadays.
And if You still have warranty then get a replacement.
Or just try doing a factory reset and maybe it will disappear.
My SD820 S7edge was doing the same thing. I was losing pictures regularly, but only while saving them to the SD card (Sandisk 64 gig). I've been saving them to the internal memory, have had no problems since.
Hello guys. Thanks you all for responds and suggestions. I probably find out what it is. It should be sd cars. I bought lexar 633x 64gb and PLEASE PEOPLE DONT BUY THEM. They appear to change their write permission on the instance without of any luck of going backwards. My explanation for disappearing photos from internal memory sounds like that:
As I explained how it happened for the first time, I used external memory at that instance. Camera app crashed. So I bet Some of the photos was ruined by Android itself because it wasn't able to write into card.
Right now I made full reset through recovery menu. Hopefully my photos won't disappear any more. In a mean time I won't be using any external memory just to clarify that my unit is not faulty. I don't wanna loose the feelings of appreciation for the samsung. You see, before s7 Edge I used note 2 bought back in London. It was brand new and I used it up until 24th of June of 2016. Battery was and still is perfect. I had marvelously enjoyed many different roms and everything I was able achieve with it. I wouldn't bought new one, but camera in the note was desent and it was probably this single reason as I am working as a video maker and hobbyist photographer...
Thank you all again. I will post here if anything comes up.
Glad you've got it sorted, that's why I asked what make the sd card was in my first reply, I had the same problem with a cheap card I brought, now I only by sandisk and only from genuine resellers, plus my photos are backed up to the cloud immediately after I've taken them.
