seems like Google is rolling out another update on Android 1.5. The new version number is CRC1 and the update.zip has a size of only 2 MB. There is no further info on the changes in the update notification than it being a security update.

I think this may be the one I recieved the other night. It killed my root access. I had to reflash Harry_m's kernel to get root back.

Is there anyway for me to tell which update my G1 just downloaded and put in the "System Updates" section?
I manually installed Android 1.5 (UK) version a few days ago (i live in the us, just couldn't wait). Was there a patch for the UK version today or yesterday? If it is not a UK update, how can I tell if it is the US update? Would like to provide the archive for other people to install 1.5 US if that is what it actually is.
(i have not applied the patch yet its just sitting in the System Updates section, waiting.)
You probably got some EU version security update. This was already covered in a post in the dev forum. If you want to check, just open your terminal and look in /cache.
I've been getting a notification about a security update on my magic. It claims to have already downloaded it (4.6mb), and is asking to install and reboot.
Does anyone know any details about the update? Version numbers, etc? What it changes?

I never received such notification. When I go to System Update, it says that my phone is already up to date. It got exactly the same version as yours.

(OTA) software update approximately 4.5 MB in size
This is a security patch, and nothing to worry about it, everyone with the affected software should get it in the next week.
I'm more worried about it blocking any future hacked firmwares being installed - eg the new rooted firmware 6.0

i have received today the same notification in my htc (vodafone spain). But, what about the root??
@IsAhT sorry but I did not have it rooted before the update, so I cannot tell you the effects of this upgrade over a rooted terminal.
got the same thing right now...i just updated it..
i guess .......... if it is just a update to the firmware system should not effect the rooting.
How does the update process work? I'm on a rooted Vodafone UK Magic, but using the Orange mobile network. I've installed Haykuro's SPL, and About phone -> System updates says it's up to date, but the build is CRB17.
Maybe I should give his 6.0r1 ROM a try...
well i am on voda uk and i am not getting any updating because im using the 6.0 sapphire rom were the system update is disable obviously.
that you are on orange and still running CRB17 should be able to get the update. i think they roll the update gradually like TMOBILE done with the G1 to upgrade to cupcake 1.5,they started with 10% then 20% and so on of the G1 population till they hit 100%.
so after the rooting process installing haykuro's SPL, whats the 'best' rom to choose and where can i get it?.
im on CRB17 as well after trying to get root, which i dont think worked. Is there pre-rooted rom floating about?

I purchased my tablet from US and I live in india. Only one time i was able to update when i run it first time, after than never got any message for update of Android Version.
When i go to Settings>About Tablet and click on System Update and check for new version it's gives me message "Your device is up to date" and when i see the version details than these are
Model Number : A500
Android Version : 3.0.1
Kernel Version : 2.6.36-00017-gc98d63f
Build Number : Acer_A500_1.016.01_COM_GEN1
Update is not available for india yet or where i am wrong please help.
Not sure if your locale has anything to do with getting updates. That's typically an issue with 3G providers, but as long as your tablet is an A500 (wifi only version) it should find the OTA updates no problem, that it unless you are running a custom ROM. If you currently have a custom ROM or rooted your stock ROM, you will lose root by updating to a newer stock ROM, and the only way to recover root is by reverting back to Android 3.0. There are several custom ROM's based on 3.2 which already have root, if you also choose to go that route. If you have no idea what I mean when I mention root, just don't worry about it and carry on with that link I posted

can't explain why you're unable to OTA update, but the security and performance improvements along with new features (ie, native mouse support) should make a manual 3.2 update worthwhile

Any user with this build no got the update? I haven't received yet and its not available at moto service center also....And moto agent told me that update has been rolled out to everyone...

I checked with the moto support indicating the build number and they said that update was released. Bit still no notification here....
Download the ota file and save into root folder of your SD card. Reboot your phone then check system update. If it still say system already up to date, reboot into recovery and use the apply update menu and point to the ota zip file
Can any body upload and send link of OTA update.
I have asked support centre. They have said to factory reset phone and then try to update. Did what they have said but could not update.

I just bought ZE550KL, have not added any account yet, bootloader at default. I want to install latest Android M official Asus update.
Asus website has the Android M firmware which is about 1.5 GB. The second step says Download device software and Update SOP (From “Manual” Item). What does this mean?
It's mentioned that Multi-user function won't be supported if the account is deleted. Please keep your account to continue usage. Is it talking about general user account or Google account?

What is the difference between an OTA update and firmware update. I know that the 1.5GB firmware update is the latest one, but why the OTA is smaller?
