Instaling application to the ROM

I have a brand new XDA2i with 128mb ROM and 128mb SD RAM. The problem is that I need to install an application - well its a j9 java virtual machine and the java files to the ROM so that if the battery powers down the application is not lost. I cannot save the files to an SD card because the slot is already in use. Do I need to flash the whole ROM?
You can place the CAB to extended ROM so that your app would be reinstalled after HR. Read WiKi about cooking the extended ROM
Or if you are an advanced user with knowledge of perl, WinCE internals, can program C++ and willing to reflash your device dozens of times before it starts to work as you've expeted - you can use these tools to place files into main ROM image: http://www.xs4all.nl/~itsme/projects/xda/romtools.html
I contacted o2 and they said I need something like Win CE Editor to write to the ROM.
I have done a search and there is no way to unhide and unlock the XDA2i extended ROM.
So what options does that leave other than to cook the ROM?

Typhoon Myguide 6500XL

Hello people,

I have a typhoon myguide 6500xl with windows 2003SE on it

I followed the guide, but it won't install the cert.cab and the SPVServices won't work then because they do'nt have the dll, and they cannnort create a file.
The cert.cab gives an error : it is not a windows ce file.
So i cannot run it.
Could someone give me a Hand ? the SDA_application(ran it from my pc, worked fine it says, when i put it on my pda it won't work: not a windows ce file
Please help me,
thanks in advance
..it is a completely different device - even not made by HTC...
So how could I unlock it, or put windows mobile 6 on it ?
Thanks already !

Palm 500v dump creation

Hi all,
I have spent over an hour here trying to find this info (if it is available!) but without success so maybe someone can help me by reading this thread.
I have Palm Treo 500v with WM 6.1 version unlocked on my device and thinking about flashing with one ROM found here.
I would like to create a full ROM backup of my device, test the thing on Microsoft's simulator V3 (this is optional, if there is any better one please let me know!) and than flash my ROM on the device.
I am unsure on how to proceed with dumping (have emulators working but would like to have it on simulator as well).
It's not a problem to simulate any platform via VMWare, VirtualBox or MS (crappy) Virtual server as long as there are explanations in plain english language, ie what files do I need and explanation of commands.
Thanks for your help and keep up the great work!

Iam extremely sorry bro it has a bug that i also know. So i think you need to change your rom until i fix that.
I suggest you to try nguoc rom although it will give less internal storage and less free ram still for beginner its perfect.
need ur help bro

spl change
well i made this a while ago, and finally got around to get it fully tested and release it.
this HardSPL is based on version 1.26 SPL. and is version 2 (2.00.cmon). also i *think* this one will not hard reset the phone
it's for any OPAL***** modelid now,
thanks to wlinsong and PhamQuang for testing
instructions:
0a) make sure you have .NET framework installed on your PC! if not, get it from http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...DisplayLang=en
0b) if you have vista, WMDC update is recommended: http://www.microsoft.com/windowsmobi...ce-center.mspx
1) download Hard-SPL package from attachment, extract to an empty folder (Opal_HardSPL_v2_0.zip).
2) you must have the phone synced with your PC, i.e. device must be in Windows Mobile!
3) run Opal_HardSPL_v2.exe.
4) follow steps in the RUU, and check on the device for prompts after PC shows loading bar.
5) device should go to a grey screen
6) go on with RUU, Hard-SPL flashes, device automatically reboots, job done.
7 ) to confirm you got it installed, go into bootloader mode (tricolour screen!) and verify the screen shows 2.00.cmon
+1: if the screen won't go to grey mode (SSPL), then try manually entering SSPL by using the Opal-SSPL-Manual.zip - run the EXE on the phone then when it went to grey screen, run the HardSPL exe on PC and flash.
finally, donations are always appreciated to the "To Cmonex" link in my signature
now, enjoy the hardspl and cooked roms
UPDATE: How to flash stock SPL back for warranty purposes - please use this only if you need to return device for repair!
steps:
0. first flash entire stock ROM, then after that you can flash stock SPL as *last step*. do not reverse this flashing order please
1. get the RUU_Signed.NBH file from attachment (opalstockspl126.zip (185.3 KB))
2. run hardspl package from attachment (Opal_HardSPL_v2_0.zip)
3. *after* Opal HardSPL EXE extracts files, replace extracted RUU_Signed.NBH with the one from opalstockspl126.zip i.e. when asked to overwrite, say Yes, if it doesn't ask, then you are trying to copy it before running the HardSPL EXE, which is the wrong order.
4. flash just like you flashed HardSPL (see original instructions above)
5. device reboots, you can now check if it says 1.26.0000 or still 1.26.cmon or 2.02.cmon, in the latter case you did something wrong, it has to show 1.26.0000.
