Chinese on Magic - myTouch 3G, Magic General

Hi there,
Does anyone know whether HTC magic (english version) comes with Chinese input method (handwriting + pinYin)?
Many thanks.

The one in hk have it and I am using one right now is not bad

vodafone magic dpes not have chinese input
but you can install APowerSms to tpye chinese Sms
magic reads chinese no problem

My Rogers HTC Magic doesn't come with any Chinese input method. And since it cannot be rooted yet, I can't use another ROM on it yet. And the HTC_CIME.apk install didn't work -- it installed, but Chinese input doesn't show up. I'm stuck.

Just a quick update to the failure I posted above -- it actually works. After installing the HTC_CIME.apk, see here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=520585
Although, of course, we can only have Touch typing and not the other input methods

has anyone tried this: http://code.google.com/p/android-zhuyin-ime/ ? Anyone know if it works on the Roger's version of the HTC Magic?

forget APower, use HTC_CIME, the only thing is its default is chinese, n u can't change that, which bothers me a lil, since i use english input most of the time.

Chinese ROM : BIG WEIRD PROBLEM !?

Hi guys, I have just flashed the Chinese ROM to my o2 exec, it works fine and all, but the only thing I don't understand is that I cannot install and successfully run any pragrams from the memory card, in order for it to run I have to install to the actual PPC. Also if I go into file explorer the layout is different to that of the english ROMS as I cannot go into windows/startmenu/programs and manually put shortcuts in from the memory card therefore no need to install on ppc. I love the Chinese ROM and have finally got round to flashing it, but if I have to install everything on the ppc then I think I will have to flash back to English ROM as I use alot of programs.
Can anyone help me at all? I really want to use the Chinese ROM but I must be able to use it like the english ROMS.
PLEASE HELP
surely someone?
Which version of Chinese ROM is it? I must say that the Chinese ROM doesn't seem to be as reliable as the English versions, which is why I had gone back to the JasJar WWE ROM with Monster Chinese installed.
there is only one available on this site/buzz site
That's the one I used as well.
There is a newer version from the official website:
http://www.dopodasia.com/download/UNI_DOP_OP_130108_130219_11100_CHT_Ship.exe
Updated 19/5/2006
I haven't tried it though so good luck with it!
I might even upload this version onto Buzz's site.
good thanks for that !
I'm determined to get a working Chinese ROM so I am downloading it now and gonna try it, even though it is 4am in the morning and I am knackered after a 10hour shift lol !
The main thing I like about the Chinese rom is the hand writing recognition is much better than the 3rd party ones u can put on the english roms.
Agree. The hand-writing recognition is pretty cool, but I prefer typing in English when I'm in a hurry. Also, whenever I wanted to type in English, I had to select "English" on the on-screen keyboard, otherwise it start typing in phonic Chinese. Very annoying, so I gave up.
OK all sorted and working perfect and totally stable, I downloaded and installed the new ROM but it done exactly the same and did not run programs from memory card, after alot of frustration I finally sorted it, I also had to modify the ROM before I could flash it on to it as it kept on coming up ID error.
Anyway all working now apart from using the Chinese ROM no-matter what I do I cannot get my MMS inbox back up, I have installed the o2 cab file that I normally use on the english ROMs to get the MMS back, but it don't seem to work on the Chinese ROM.
Any ideas?
That's all I need now to make it PERFECT
About the ID error (country ID error?):
There is a ROM upgrade tool made specifically for country ID error messages: http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Instructions for those with Country Code error
I'm afraid I can't help with the MMS problem. Maybe you haven't set up the GPRS properly.

Root access on TIM (Italian G1)?

Hi there,
I'm from Belgium and since the G1 is not for sale yet here, I recently bought a HTC Dream in Italy. It's a great phone, and everything is going fine, but I'd really like to get Cupcake on my phone. The limitations of this version is getting tiresome (not syncing up my Google calendar etc).
Anyway, I tried the tuts here but I get stuck on the message:
'Model ID incorrect!
Update Fail!'
Now, I only found very few sites documenting on this, but this one seemed pretty accurate so far:
http://www.androidworld.it/forum/viewtopic.php?t=54
Unfortunately, it's in Italian (which I don't speak) and I'm not all too keen to run this tut on a google translation.
Anyway, what I'd like to know: is there any reliable tutorial out there that can teach me how to root the HTC Dream TIM version so I can flash cupcake?
Thanks in advance!
The goldcard method.. Just use the Search-function. Search for goldcard.
For the record: I did tons of Google searches and searches on this forum before creating a thread on the subject. Unfortunately, all sites I landed upon where either for all G1's except the French and the Italian G1. Or they were either in French or Italian.
So you're sure this method works for the French/Italian version as well?
The goldcard lets your G1 skip the check if the file signed (with the correct cid). This method works on (i think) all devices made by HTC.
In the theory, you could flash android this way to ALL HTC Devices.
But that would brick these phones.
But i think, the goldcard method should work for you. If not, go sell your G1 and go buy the US Variant of the G1 or a german G1 (i got a german g1, i had to use the goldcard method, it worked vperfectly!)
Won't the problem be that I have a different linux boot installed on this phone? Or is that impossible?

Use A4 for input. I use MSYH6.0 for display but the cab is too big to be attached.

You can also try CE-Star Suite 2.8R3 or Studio KUMA
Had you bought TP2 in HKG, it would have come with Chinese support (I think it comes with "CangJie" among other inputs but I don't use it)

Changing ROM

Hi
I bought an HD2 from Ebay and have discovered it appears to be fitted with an Asian ROM (1.48.831.0 (71294) WWE). The S/N is HT9C8NWxxxxx. I tried getting the ROM upgrade from the HTC web site but it says the device is not suitable for the upgrade. The only issue I have found so far appears to be with the chinese characters on the keyboard.
Is it possible to flash the ROM to a UK version or does the hardware prevent that? If so, what stock ROM do I need?
Thanks
You can change your from to an English/UK one using the Gold Card method (check out the Rom Section under the Leo and you'll find all the information you'll need to know about it). Just to query though, have you tried going through and changing the Language and Region, as if i'm correct the WWE stands for world wide english, which should mean that you can get UK characters on your keyboard.

Many thanks for the advice.
I have the language and region set to UK but it doen't give me the different keyboard options (full, compact, etc), instead it offers me different chinese alphabets. I was also concerned in case I was prevented from getting normal updates as suggested by my experience with HTC.com.
I have exactly same problem and could not fix it. I sent a thread to the froum but with no luck

please let me know if you found any solution.
thanks,

I followed the routine in the first post at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=591314 and it worked fine. I used the 1.48.405.2 ROM which gives the UK profile. The only problem I had was with getting QMAT to recognise the SD card but I used itsutilsbin (see later in that thread) instead at step 3 and that seemed to work.

[Q] Chinese+Asian Language Support on T-Mobile HD2

Hi Guys,
I just finally got my TMobile HD2 and need the phone to be able to read Chinese, Japanese, and Korean.
I would also like to be able to write Chinese on it although I still want to have the english interface on the phone.
I have looked up and read numerous threads in this forum about adding Chinese support but there seems to be just way too many different programs such as QQ input, CE Star, Shugou, etc that has confused me.
(I actually tried and installed QQ pinyin input, however they were still squares. I assume its because I don't have the font installed. I tried this because I haven't HSPL'd my phone and am worried about doing it since I'm a complete noob.)
Also, there seems to be a way to read and write chinese characters but after flashing the ROM to an Energy ROM or other compatible ROM FIRST which I found from another thread.
For all of you who have experience in this, what is the easiest way where I can
read and write Chinese and just also be able to read Japanese and Korean?
I would really appreciate the help!
Google RickyMSYH6.0FullBD to read chinese
Try this site, they have chinese rom and english rom that support chinese.
bbs.ida.cc/thread-315-1-1.html
make sure it's for t-mobile or else you might brick your hd2.
good luck
