Voice dialing - G1 General

I'm wondering if anyone is working on improved voice dialing capabilities for the G1? I see in the 1.5 update that it says something about improved voice recognition, but I can't tell if that applies to the voice dial problem. That problem being that the way it is now, you have to touch the phone to place any call other than redial. Is this an android issue or a T-mobile issue?

Just a bump... really? Nothing?

Voice dialing on the G1, in my opinion, is still pants. I am using JF 1.5 and voice dialing works sometimes, but not enough that you can rely on it. Since it is in the 1.5 developers release I would have to say it is a Goggle, not carrier, problem.
- The voice recognition is spotty at best. "Call voice mail" Gave me voice mail as an option but I had to click on the screen to choose it. Worse yet the first choice in 1 out of 3 attempts was "call Oscar on Mobile".
- As far as I know you can not set up voice dial to start by hitting the call button on your BT headset. So you have to pull out the phone to initiate a call.
- Even if you could initiate a call via your headset Android does not give you any audio cues as to whom it decided you are trying to call. i.e. machine generated "call voicemail?" then you say yes to dial them.
On the other hand voice search capabilities did improve quite a bit and it is actually useful now. It is often easier for me to initiate a search by simply saying it then whipping out the keyboard.

Maybe I'm just not up on the lingo, but I'm not sure what "is still pants" means, unless it's a typo.
The voice recognition is okay, the times I've used it it hasn't made any mistakes, unless I'm trying in a very noisy area. For the numbers I call often, I find that putting a shortcut on the homescreen helps, but voice prompts are necessary and this should be addressed. If it is a google issue, do you have any thoughts on how to voice this issue to the proper place?

Cyberon Voice Speed Dial doesn't work on Maple/Snap?

I had Cyberon's Voice Speed Dial working well on the Tilt and Diamond, but I can't get it to work on the Snap. It keeps saying "no trained voice tag" and kicks me out. I don't even have the chance to set it up. Does anyone else have similar experience and possible solutions?

Sprint voicemail not forwarding properly to G Voice

I have my sprint hero set to forward voicemail to my G Voice number. I have G Voice setup to go straight to voicemail and enabled voicemail forwarding.
What happens is when someone calls my number it rings, I dont answer, then it rings my google voice number which rings my cell again then it goes to voicemail.
So if I dont pick up I have 2 missed calls on my cell phone. Really annoying. I can't seem to find the answer anywhere. Everyone suggests enabling the go straight to voicemail feature on G Voice but I've alread done that. Any ideas? thanks.
I'm having the same issue...
any luck fixing it?
You could have 10 phone numbers in google voice. What it does by default is if you miss a call on your cell it forwards it to all those numbers listed, including your cell again.
In the list of phone numbers there are settings, then you click advanced settings somewhere, and then there's a setting about "If calling this number directly" or something like that, with an option to go straight to voicemail.
Took me forever to figure that out myself.
Edit: Crap, never mind, your problem sounded so similar to what I was pulling my hair out over for a couple hours that I stopped reading the "I've already tried that" part. You didn't do something silly like put the google voice number in your list of numbers, did you?

[Q] Could any of you clever Devs look into Phone

I was wondering if you clever devs could look into adding phone functionality to the adam 3g model ?
it should be capable and would be handy for the odd occasions with a bluetooth headset.
The early tablets and recently at ces the tablet had phone icons on the desktop so im sure its at least a possibility !!
many thanks in advance
On the Battery Use, I have seen a "Phone" process.
Maybe it is already activated, but not used
You can get to the phone section via "contacts" but when you try to make a call it says "call ended" after you hit the call button. From the FCC docs, it says that the Ericcson F3307 3G card is "voice" capable so in theory it is possible! The only thing even close to phone functionality that does work is the sending/receiving SMS messages atm.
Just a shot in the dark, but does google voice's data calling use the same process?
yes and it sucks. it only stinks that the google voice works over data and not wifi. so i cant make a call over wifi if i dont have a valid sim card in.

Outgoing Google Voice Calls

Anyone else notice that outgoing Google Voice calls do not display properly in the call log? They all show as calls to the local Google Voice call routing service. Never had this problem with any other phone. Must be some limitation of the Touch Whiz interface. Anyone have a solution? This sucks.
It's something specific to this phone. I don't think the SII has this problem. Since the SIII is a popular phone hopefully Google sorts this out for the next update. For now I'm just saving the bridge number too since it's unique to the outgoing number.
It makes me super sad. I want to cry and shave my head.

Google Voice will properly list calls in the call log if you use the AOKP rom for the att SGS 3 by Task650 & Ktoonesz. not sure if this is a GVoice or a Samsung TW thing, but it's disappointing for me. i use my GV number all the time... hope a fix is coming soon!
I noticed as well. It doesn't really bother me because the call connects properly and shows up correctly in the call log. My droid incredible running CM7 did the same thing so I'm use to it.

so your verizon sgs 3 shows the number dialed in your call log vs. the Google Voice bridge number?
Yes. It shows the correct number in my call log. The only time I see the other number is in the voice notification as you call.

Latest patch broke my ability to call from BT headset

Hello,
I have a verizon S10+ - I noticed there was an update for it so I let it proceed. Unfortunately now I can't make calls from my BT headset. Believe it or not that is the most important feature to me as 99.9% of the time my phone is used as a PHONE (yep, I'm that old). I need to be able to say "call 8885551212" Or call "cisco support" and have my phone dial the numbers for me.
Any suggestions?
Thanks.

I ended up rebooting my phone twice and it worked after the second time.
