Advanced Config Tool (and other key mapping tools) generally don't affect the softkeys in the Dialler.
There is a registry key that should change Video Call back to Contacts:
HKLM\Software\HTC\PHONE\LSKContact
Change the DWORD value to 1
Or use the cab in THIS POST, which does pretty much the same thing

Map your favorite dialer on green button...

Many a dialers are proposed : PhonePlus, PhoneExt or MobiDial.NET...
These dialers proposes a mapping on the green key , but this mapping is purely applicatif that it is an executable charged in memory which makes this mapping.
And well here an easy way so that the dialer by default is your dialer preferred and more that which is integrated... For that it's necessary to use an editor of register to the image of PHM Regedit or Resco Regedit then to go to the key :
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Shell\RAI\:MSCPROG
and modify the value "1" and take the path of your favorite dialer, for example to MobiDial.NET the value is "\Program Files\mobiDial\mobiDial.exe"
can this same philosophy be used on other hardware buttons?
Well, I've tried this way, trying to assign the button to phoneplus (even though they already did it) but it didnt work!
I even tried to assign it to the "calc" just to see if it really works, and again nothing.
Are you sure?
Did anybody got that work?
Didn't work for me too.
Shame :?
Didn't work for me too.
Shame :?
any thoughts on mapping the green button? i need it
food for thought maybe its not regulated by a "single" registry key.
well the general idea as i understand is that the dialer "cprog.exe" gets loaded in the memory firct probably somewhere in the registry rather than the startup, then the green button gets mapped into it also somewhere in the registry, now if you check this link

Remap left softkey on Today screen?

Greetings,
I'd like to remap the left softkey on the Today screen to go to something else besides calendar. I've searched all the forums and have turned up several apps (vijaytoggletoday, smartskey, and some others) but they all seem to be geared toward either totally removing the soft key menu bar from the Today screen, or changing the behavior of the hardware soft key buttons. I just want to change what the left soft key points to from Calendar to something else. I saw a post sometime ago where someone had remapped it to Comm Manager, so I know it's possible. How do I do it?
Thanks!
SP
Search google for soft key changer.
Also available on Buzzdev.net
Also in a registry hack on the wiki, in the Today keys.
V
what did you find that removed the softkeys all together?
Regarding remapping, look for SoftKeyApplet or SoftKeyAppletEx ..
To change the application launched by the Today screen Left soft key:
HKCU\Software\Microsoft \Today\Keys\112\Open = "\Windows\Calendar.exe" (REG_SZ string, including quotes)
To change the title of the Left soft key:
HKCU\Software\Microsoft \Today\Keys\112\(Default ) = Calendar (REG_SZ string, no quotes)
To change the application launched by the Today screen Right soft key:
HKCU\Software\Microsoft \Today\Keys\113\Open = "\Windows\Calendar.exe" (REG_SZ string, including quotes)
To change the title of the Right soft key:
HKCU\Software\Microsoft \Today\Keys\113\(Default ) = "Calendar" (REG_SZ string, no quotes)
Note that 113 normally doesn't exist by default, and probably needs to be created Also note that there is at least 1 application that allows you to set these through a GUI, developed by FdcSoft called SoftKeyAppletEx
gravejoker vjtoggletodayII will remove the softkeys
Thanks guys...
Chaotic, exactly what I was looking for.. .thanks!
Grave, as chaotic said, vijaytoggletoday will do it, as well as DCINoBar.

To access the call log, you can do it programmatically, or use VJPhoneShortcuts.

Please who can help me with a registry hack to set the incoming/outcoming calls instead of the calendar button ?

I dont think you can get to the call history using an exe file .. has to be done programatically ..
I think I already indicated above, VJPhoneShortcuts.

First you must install "NewMenu", then create a new item, then choose "callhistory.exe" from windows folder. That's easy!

Hey deika95, with 38 post YOU SHOULD KNOW how to USE the SEARCH FUNTION of this FANTASTIC FORUM :

There's a another quick way to hach the softkeys
Use AEButton Plus: it is useful to modify all the settings for the hardware buttons......

There isn't callhistory.exe in the windows folder.
Try what Vijay suggested .. that should give you shortcuts to the Call history and Speed dial .. then remap one of the soft keys to it ..
And no .. I dont think there's any CallHistory.exe anywhere ..

is there anyway to edit the right soft key?

I just got my Dual and the right soft key says "ideas" and is a link to the internet, is there anyway to edit that?
I use a little freeware app called 'KeySwop'
Check it out - http://mobile-sg.com/software/?p=KeySwop&platform=ppc
you can define your own left/right soft keys of Today screen by editing these registry keys:
left: [HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Today\Keys\112]
right: [HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Today\Keys\113]
(default) = caption of soft key
"Open" = target program to open (.exe or .lnk)
You can also use Shaps advanced config tool for it. This tool has except a lot of other options/tweaks an option for keymapping where you can set the soft- and some hardware keys. You can find the tool here.
another option is to use wisbar advance 3 (which also has a ton of other features)
Try this freeware...it works really good

Assign HD2 Task Manager to Hardware Send Key

Hi, This is my First Post to XDA. After using TP2 for 2 months, I just got my new HD2. Its a great piece of Hardware but I immediately notice following things:
1. The Standard Task Manager that used to sit at Top Right Corner is no longer there.
2. All Settings->Personal->Buttons does not have any Button Listed. So, I cannot assign a Task Manager to Hardware Key.
After investigating, I could find that the Task Manager that find from "Settings"->"Other"->"Task Manager" is located in \windows\taskmgr.exe
This is not a Bad Task Manager but I needed to assign this to a Hardware Key.
Following Registry entries will allow you to bring up the "taskmgr.exe" when you perform a Long Press to Send Key (Left Most Hardware Key on HD2):
Go to in registry:
HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Shell\
Create a new Key: Keys
Inside "Keys" create another Key: 40C6
Inside "40C6" create following Registry values:
1. Name= Name value= Send key(Hold) type=string
2. Name= Icon value= \windows\SendKeyIcon.exe, 0 Type=string
3. Name= Flags value= 0 Type=dword
4. Name= default value=\windows\taskmgr.exe Type=string
Now restart. This is working great for me.
or just use Duttys Task Manager for Leo which adds back the task manager to the top right of home screen and very nice it is too

I used Dutty as well. It gives back the Lost Task Manager from TP2. However, I also need a ATL-TAB type task switcher.

Try this

I don't know about assigning it to keys though. May be something in the registry to assign buttons?
A much simpler way to run something from a long press on the send key is to make a shortcut to the app and rename it to "long_send". Then, copy it to the windows folder.
Hi all,
I'd like to map another key for a long press. For example the Windows logo hardware key. What is the code for this ? I only know 40C6 for the call key.
Thanks.

If "long_send" exists, I cannot answer incoming call with this key.
Is it possible to assign a long press action to "home" or "Windows" key? What will be the right filename? It seems not possible with HD2 after seraching the forum.
Thanks.
Thanks!! This registry tweak works like a charm!
Trick with long_send.lnk doesnt work for me...
Another keycode is 40C7 for Endkey.
Does anyone know how to make this work on a bluetooth headset?
I'm trying to get cybertron Voice Commander to fire up on a long press of the send button on my bluetooth headset.
I've put a link to the app in /windows and named it long_send. The send key on my HD2 opens the app but the headset key doesn't?
Any idea why?
Regards
Clive

That is great!
Any other shortcuts for at least one of the HD2 keys (Home, Back, Win)?
Since I just ran into a problem with the long_send way of doing things, I thought I would add what I encountered.
I have just bought pocketshield, and wanted to have a task manager on a long send key function. Changing copying a shortcut to \windows and renaming it long_send worked great, until I power cycled. At that point the long_send disappeared, and I had to redo the shortcut trick.
I figured something was deleting it, so I used total commander to change the shortcut properties to a system read only file. This worked for the long_send function, but it broke my task manager...
So, I deleted the long_send shortcut, rebooted, and the task manager worked again, so it seems there is a conflict. I ended up using the registry hack from the first post to get it working.
Cheers!
An easier approach... You can assign any volume key long-press to the task manager(or to any program), with Volumex software
Volume keys are easier to reach as they are always next to your thumb(left hand) or next to your index (right hand). Especially on the HD2 which is big and HW keys too far below...
any solution for the win key?
sorry. duplicate..

Well, I wonder how HTC could miss this point about assigning buttons and bluetooth stuff as flixibility is probably the most important thing that wm users want.
For me, I have tried the long_send.lnk trick with MSVC, which works , but I can't receive call with send button. Now my main problem is the call button on my headset that when I long press it, it doesn't start any application, but after I install Cyberon VSD, it starts. There should be somewhere that we can configure the file location in which this long press function triggers, but still can't find it. I even can't find the Cyberon exe files.
Any idea, guys? Thanks in advance..

Camera Button Dead after Sense ROM.

Any ideas how to restore button mappings for the lower right hand side button where after installing Miro's rom (and apparently other roms based on sense) it no longer works?

All the sense roms break the camera button, no permanent solution at this time, best bet is to set a Home screen shortcut to activate the camera, and use the onscreen shutter button.
Sorry if this answer is not to your liking

Download : Vito Button Mapper and mapp this button for camera
A simple registry edit will enable a hidden option in the button settings which will allow you to change the function of camera button.
Using a registry editor, navigate to the following key. (If you are unsure as how to do this, use this forum's search function to look for guides on how to edit the registry. I use Resco File Explorer, which isn't free, but there are plenty of free registry editors.)
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/Software/ControlPanel/Buttons/
You will see an entry called NoHardwareButtons.
Change the value from 1 to 0.
Now if you go to your button settings (Start - Settings - Personal - Buttons) you will notice a new option which allows you to assign the camera button to open any app you want. You can use this option to restore the button back to the camera if you want.
EDIT: I've created a cab that should change the setting for you. This is my first cab, so please let me know if it works or not.
thank you fo this . it works fine, but this is the path:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\ControlPanel\Buttons\
