can Diamond 2 take Photo included GPS location? - Touch Diamond2, Pure General

I just got my D2 yesterday and very happy with it. However, I can't find a GPS photo function when using CAMERA function.... Dose anyone know that D2 have GPS photo function? or it need a other program to do it?

Yes you can, you need to download a copy of diamond tweak (well thats what i used) and in sectio 11 (camera section) you can enable gps photo aswell as sport mode etc.
Hope this helps

Whats sport mode?

Hi! We need to install the Diamond tweak or the HD tweak?
Diamond 2 is more close to an HD than the old Diamond so I ask it!

Registry key for those that want it...
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\HTC\Camera\P10 -> change the value "enabled" from 0 to 1
More camera modes...
To Enable 'Burst': HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\HTC\Camera\P6 -> change the value "enabled" from 0 to 1
To Enable 'Sport': HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\HTC\Camera\P8 -> change the value "enabled" from 0 to 1
To Enable 'Video Share': HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\HTC\Camera\P9 -> change the value "enabled" from 0 to 1

When you enable Geotagging pictures won't get saved..
They show up in Camera Shots but not under File Explorer..
EDIT:
My Bad it makes a folder called My POI under My Documents on my Storage Card..

what is sport mode? thanks

burst mode: (keep holding "shoot button" on the screen and it keeps taking photos) and sport mode (automatically shoots 5 back to back frames). the real question is: What are their usefulness?

are these modes switchable? I mean when I will enable both options in registry, does it mean I will always make 5 pictures? thanks alot.
Maybe I should try it, right? one try better than thousands words...

Geo tagged photos
enabled GPS in camera and found where photos get saved, eventually!
Question is, my Omnia used to give a logtitude and latitude reading in the photo's "properties" can't see anything to indicate that geo tagging has actually taken place. Will never use it but if it's supposed to work I want it to work.

Enabling geotagging using locr GPS Photo
Editing the registry
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\HTC\Camera\P10 -> change the value "enabled" from 0 to 1
did not work on my T-Mobile MDA Compact V (=HTC Diamond 2=Topaz), but I discovered a very easy way to enable geotagging. I installed locr GPS Photo
for Windows Mobile 1.0.1 see: http://nl.locr.com/
You can use this program to take geo tagged photo's, but the resolution then is reduced. When you use the original camera software of your phone, without closing locr GPS Photo, GPS is still active and you can make geo tagged photos with the full resolution and other all other possible settings.
Have fun!

Nice workaround you found H A D ! But this means that HTC gps photo has a bug or what? I confirm that GPS coordinates do not come with the taken picture Properties, are they so hidden or simply not there?
EDIT:I'm reading that a PC software is necessary to view coordinates, they don't seem to be available simply in the Properties, that's too bad, i thought it would be automatic.

When you take photos with GPS on, the Lat/Lon is saved on the EXIF tag of your photos. You will need an EXIF reader/editor in order to see this info. I don't know if there's an EXIF Reader/Editor application for WM, but there are a lot (free) applications for Windows floating around the net.
This is not an issue with WM or HTC Album. This has been pretty much the same from the beginning with "GPS Photos"
I even believe that that's the reason "GPS Photos" are not officially supported and you need to tweak your registry in order to capture them.
BTW: I have taken hundreds of photos with GPS with my previous phone (Polaris) and I never had an issue with them. I just used an EXIF reader to see the LAT/LON (among with other very useful information)

GeoTagging HTC Topaz photo's
I don't why HTC disabled geotagging, but I am pretty certain they did. There are several programs able to read EXIF-files. (I am using a Mac. Even Preview shows EXIF-data.) Photo's taken with Camera, without locr GPS Photo being active do not show GPS-data, but Photo's taken with Camera, with locr GPS Photo being active show them.

On some Diamond 2 devices (ROM?) use
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\HTC\Camera\P10 -> change the value "enable" (NO "enableD" !!) from 0 to 1
So you can use GPS Photo without any other software in background.

Photo Navigation?

It says in Dopod website that the Dopod D810 has GPS format, with embedded coordinates in the picture and a built-in exclusive photo navigation software, where one knows the exact location of the photo and easily navigate to that location.
Any other information on this photo navigation software?
I tried to find this built in software, but no success.
Camera -> last item on left upper corner (camera with cross). Whether this you're thinking...?
i m also looking for the same info, i was able to get the gps photo function working and took pictures with active gps connection. problem is now i dont know what software to use the photos with.
I used Picasa (freeware) to view the GPS coordinates of the photo I took.
You'll need to import the file into picasa, go to picture -> properties and scroll down to the gps coordinates.
A bit clumsy to use however - if anyone knows a more succint way (program) of accessing the data I'd be keen to hear of it.
Use Irfan View
Better use the freeware Irfan View (www.irfanview.com). It has a button in the picture proporties dialog to jump right to Google Earth to show you the place where the GPS photo was taken.
irfanview works fantastically for this... cheers!

Thank you. I downloaded and installed Irfanview, it is a nice software, but I cant find the mentioned button in the picture properties dialog. Is it Irfanview version 4.0?
There are only 5 buttons in the picture properties window (keyboard shortcut "I"): Change resolution, Exif Info, IPTC info, Comment and OK.

GPS TAG in pictures on Touch HD

Is there a way of enabling it the way it used to be for the HTC Cruise (or any other way)
ENABLE GPS CAMERA
Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\HTC\Camera\
in the folder called P10 change the value "enabled" from 0 to 1.

First, why do you think there's a registry entry that allows you to disable the camera?
Second, you can remove the "Photos & Videos" tab, where the camera can be executed from, by opening the menu on the home tab and selecting "Personalize Home Screen Tabs", but I expect that you want to keep that tab, just remove the icons for the camera & cam modes.
Why on earth do you want to disable the camera? What's wrong with just not running it??

Cleartype?

I've noticed that Cleartype doesn't seem to be enabled in some of the Mini applications, such as the Outlook message list. It's very noticable in a relatively low resolution device like this, if you compare for example Resco Explorer with and without Cleartype enabled. It used to be possible to universally enable it in Settings, but this doesn't seem to be there any more. Anyone any ideas on how to re-enable it?

jmatejka thank you
A more detailed working solution to enable cleartype in mini is the following:
With a registry editor go to:
HKLM -> System -> GDI
new key:ClearType, then new DWORD in the key named ClearType, Dword data=1.
Reboot your device, done. Works fine on my mini
Thanks for this. The fonts still look really dreadful to me in eg. the Outlook message list, compared to devices with the same resolution - the 1-pixel wide letters just lack clarity. They seem to be using the application's Medium font, whereas if you view a message and change the font size up to Larger it's far clearer; using this size in the list would look much better. Maybe there's a hack to change the list font size?

It's a bit kludgy because I haven't installed a screengrabber (and I'm not sure there is a HVGA-compatible one available) but in the attached images, the first shows the message list, the second and third show the text inside the email viewer at Larger and Medium font sizes. Larger is far clearer, and uses up a negligible amount of extra space. It seems to me that the list view would look much better using the Larger font.
Edit: well I never, there's a setting in Manila Settings - Font to fix this! Couldn't find it in the standard WM settings though.
Sorry for my english. I was really interested HD mini but when i saw quality of fonts i could not belive that this is possible in new device for this price. Fonts in file explorer looks much worse then in my polaris. I was search for WM resolution supported and i think that the answer for this problem is simply. WM 6.5 does not support Hvga resolution, so it does not run in its native resolution. It is the same when you set for example resolution 800x600 on the monitor with native resolution 1024x768 - fonts look blurred not sharp. Only manila is made for HVGA so the main interface looks grate but when you go inside windows fonts looks awful. Only WM 7 will support HVGA.
It actually doesn't look at all bad with a slightly larger font, attached; just the default is rather poorly designed.
This is the original. I don't see any big differences
Enabling ClearType: how to enable the Screen control panel
Hi all,
ClearType can be enabled through the Screen control panel but HTC disabled it.
To enable the Screen control panel, one may use his preferred registry editor: go to "\HKLM\ControlPanel\Pen" then change the "Hide" key content from 1 to 0. After a device reboot, the Screen control panel is available under "Sense Settings tab > Menu > More > System".
After re-enabling ClearType, the text is really much more readable in MS applications such as EMail, Calendar, Contacts, Mobile Office, etc.
Hope this helps.
Excellent, much better; thanks!
great !!!!

Screen Align
Hi! It is possible to make even easier! Here to you a label! Simply through the file manager press a label, and receive adjustments cleartype!
wonderful solutions makes for a far better view!!
tnx so much!
A word of caution.
HD mini is one quirky WM device. If the cleartype does not bother you too much, or if it's not essential, better leave it as it is. The more you tinker with the unavailable settings, the more chances it could randomly produce unexpected behavior. Such as freeze and other stuffs.
