Keyboard slides, screen dies - XPERIA X1 General

Hey Folks
Thought i would share this with u ( sorry if mentioned before did do a search ).
On friday morning X1 was working sweet as per usual. Got to about lunch time (finished work early in the pub lol) and my X1 started playing up.
Was using my X1 as normal and received a txt flipped out the keyboard then all of a sudden my screen cut out. Put it back to portrait mode and pushed the power button twice and the screen came back. Tried again in landscape and the same thing happened screen just went.
So i thought i have got a couple of rom images on my sd card i will try flashing with a different rom. Anyway tried that same thing happened. Put the phone back in to bootloader and tested again same thing happened again so i knew then this was a hardware problem.
Anyway took it back to O2 store saturday morning and they sent it off for repair ( lets hope it comes back ok).
Just thought i would share my dissapointment.
Scott
P.S. this was 1 of the very 1st X1's that came out i got it in november....

Well just got my X1 back but my old 1 was non repairable so they gave me a brand new handset
What a bonus lol
Just thought i would share..

hey i just experienced the same problem....i have a question for you...i have flashed itje's touch-it 7 rom...should reflash the stock rom to take it for repair so that the guarantee is valid or just take it to the shop as it is??

Definately put the official ROM and Hard-SPL back on.
crabby

how can i do that?can you plz give me a link or sthg..

i'd say your problem was not software but hardware, maybe opening the keyboard unplugged somehow the wire that connects the screen to the phone. repair center should just have had to change that wire to fix the problem.
lucky you.

Just to let you all know i gave my phone back to o2 with a winmo 6.5 rom on it and nothing was said....

Problem with XDA EXEC touch screen

Hi guys,
Just wanted to know if anyone else has had a problem with their exec's touch screen in that mine has completely stopped responding. The hardware buttons and keyboard work perfectly, I have tried a hard reset, taken the battery out etc and still nothing. It's odd as it must have stopped working at some point today, but it has been sat in my desk all day so nothing has damaged it to my knowledge. It's really bizarre! Anyhow, O2 have said they're sending a new one out, just got 3-5 working days without my Exec now. It's very odd and I just wondered if anyone else had had trhe same thing happen?
Cheers,
Fin
Sounds like a ROM-related issue. Have you tried a newer ROM (if there is a newer one already)?
I thought it might be software related, but to be honest there is no new ROM I can flash it with (and not invalidate the warranty, since I wouldn't be able to flash it back with the original O2 ROM when I send it back). It's really strange, as it has been working for nearly two weeks absolutely brilliantly and now it has decided to suddenly stop.
Thanks for your reply,
Fin
Anytime, hope you can get it to work again .
I just purchased an Exec yesterday and have been having similar issues with the touchscreen since I first turned it on.
After a while it does work again, but every now and then it stops working, The hardware buttons still work, so the phone is still responding.
Triggers that seem to cause this problem include starting a program, flipping the screen or looking at the phone with an odd look.
When running the update from the my-xda site it already is at that version, so I see no need in patching.
I take it this is a hardware issue that I cannot fix so will be needing to replace the unit?

I have the exact same problem on my m5000, stops working intermitently. Spoke to premier have a brand new handset on its way tommorow morning between 9-1. Not bad service free replacemeant and a brand new sealed box, so extra accesorys minus charger and battery.
Must be a common fault then. Mine started working again suddenlt the day before my new one arrived which was pretty annoying, although by peoples' experience here, it was probably only a matter of time before it packed up again. I have had my replacement a while now and it has so far been working perfectly.
At the moment it can't decide if its working or not.
It seems a couple of flips between landscape & portrait seem to get things working again.
I'll give it the weekend. See how it handles. Then most likely Monday I'll try get it replaced.
What do you reckon the best course of action would be? Go into the O2 shop and see if they'll swap it for a replacement, or contact O2 and get them to send me one.
Since there's always the chance the shop has a batch of duff phones.

MDA Vario II Bricked, without warning

After waking up this morning, getting ready and grabbing me phone before I take the nippa 2 school, I hold down the power button to switch it on and get a brief flash of the orange led and a flash of white from the screen and then nudda! not a blip, take the battery out and put it back, again nothin! Tried charging it again (had been on charge all night mind) again nothin, didn't even register I'd plugged it in. Last dying effort, time for a hard reset, again to my surprise, nothing! It had officially died. T-Mobile no questions asked, replaced my phone on the spot without even having to check my one and I am using it now. I swear it is faster! I also swear it had a different boot up procedure when it did the tmobile configuration. I'm happy that all the keys work and I think the slide feels a bit more sturdy on this. Anyone else had any replacements?
i work in a t-mob shop, i got a bit sick of the screen alignment issues ( even backed off the screws on teh back of teh screen and still got issues sometimes )
so i swapped mine and yeah no issues so far, havent felt it getting so damn HOT as the last one. although today i did have the keyboard stop working til i reset....
hmmmmmmmmmmmm
which shop do u work in maybe some of the users on this forum having trouble with their devices could nop down to ya for a replacement...

krassen
Can you imagine the hassle he would get if he lets us know where he works? I work for Carphone Warehouse and we get enough hassle as it is lol!
i suppose yiu are correct

is my MDA Vario2(HTC TyTN) dead?

Hi all,
i have a serious problem with my MDA Vario II (HTC TyTN),
just have this device since 2 weeks, and last week i flashed a rom onto my device, its a nameless windows 6.1 rom...
the flash went perfect, the device worked flawlessly!
the device has been working fine all week, i had it hard reset for like 2 times.
now i did another hard reset, everything seemed to go just fine, battery was 100% device nicely came into the bootloader mode, nicely went resetted, perfectly booted letting me setup the device and calibrate the stylus right after this the device resetted itself and after the windows logo it just went into white screen, i waited this out for like 15 minutes and then i pressed soft reset... this white screen was the last thing i have seen on my screen so far (2 days ago now) the only thing my device does is give me a red led when it is connected to the wall charger or usb and the battery is not in the device
as long as my battery is in the device it does absolutely nothing, no sign of life!! not even a red led!
is there anything i can do about this? or do i need to send it away to t-mobile?
i really hope someone can help me with this one!
cheers ChilleCharlie
ps: normally when i press both the soft keys and the reset it would take me into bootloader mode, this doesnt even work no more!
i have been reading on this forum for 2 days now i just have no idea what this problem could be! can somebody please help me! i think it might be my accupack is that possible for a 2 weeks old phone?
is a herm100/200/300 device capable of booting without a battery in it?
cheers Charlie
ok here comes the test result, i was planning on shipping my phone back to the supplier but instead of this i tested my battery with a electrometer guess what? 0,04 volts are on my lipo pack!! OMG battery sudden death! never had this before in my life! now i know i can fix this battery pack did that before with some years old li ion and some months old lipo's but since i am under warranty i hell yea am gonna make use of it! this pack will be sent back to t-mobile in the meanwhile ill buy my ass a new one so i can use my phone
thanks for everything this website is great even thow i havent had 1 reply yet, thanks to you guys i got wm6.1 and will get it back running now! tytytyty btw i heard something about hardspl beeing more safe? i guess i should flash it onto my device or is that risky to do ?
Sorry, didn't see your post until today. Might not have been able to help anyway.. Glad to hear you sorted that out OK though..
As for Hard SPL, its a must to have on your Hermes before flashing as it will make it possible to recover from a bad flash. Its NOT a guarantee but it is a safety net to help when things can/do go wrong.
Would also suggest using the sd card method for rom flashing as its safer than via pc(Hard SPL takes about 2 secs to upgrade so I do that from the pc BUT you can do this via sd card too).
Welcome and happy flashing...
thank you for that information once i get my device running again it will be the first thing ill install even thow i dont think my problem is rom-related anyway, today my battery has been tested in a different phone, as i thought it was completely dead! also my phone has been tested with another battery... well my phone is completely dead as well! i think it has had a short circuit somewhere inside which would explain why it doesnt do anything with or without battery installed...
i do not know for sure thow.. but thank god i still have my warranty.. althow im not sure about this since my phone wasnt running official firmware.. but i guess that has nothing to do with hardware malfunction now does it? so ill be sending it back to the supplier tommorow damn i cant stand not having this device working
cheers chillecharlie

Wont boot up :(

Nightmare. Went to wake up my phone after not using it for only 10 mins and it wouldn't wake up. Took battery out and reset but it only gets to the htc screen where it displays the red numbers at the bottom. After that the screen just starts to flash with lines/boxes. Tried a few times and it still eneded up not booting.
Performed a hard reset which completed but it still wont boot up giving me the same result as above.
Is there anything else I can try before returning it, only had it just over a week
do you have hard spl on it? (check by booting the phone while holding down the vol down key) just give us any information you see there.
also it would be usefull to know what you did that caused this.
no i don't have that installed. The phone was running fine, the only thing i did this morning was to disable hspa/hsupa, phone rebooted fine was working fine.
I let it rest for about 15 mins, then when i went back to it it wouldn't boot up.

To make things worse carphonewarehouse reckon out of all the stores in the country none of them have the phone, got to get back onto the main customer service again...
sorry i missed what you said, here is the info:
PB81100 HX-BC
SPL-1.42.0000XE
MICROP (LED) 0 X 05
MICRO (TOUCH) 0 X 30
After a search on the forum i seem to be the only one this has happened to. This problem has happened to other people but only after doing other stuff to it, mine just 'died'
Taking it back to carphone today but got to wait for stock to come in
I was just about to go sell my N96 to a shop today, oh well, back to Nokia for the mo.
I really don't understand what i've done wrong, do you think disabling the hspa/hsupa could of done it? surely not
WORKING AGAIN
let it be for a few hours and now it's booted up from the hard reset. Very strange.
Any comments???
also, does the hard reset uninstall hotfixes? i intend to upgrade to 1.6 but waiting for my new pc to arrive, mine randomly switches off so upgrading on that is NOT a good idea
is no one interested in this error??
I'm now thinking that disabling the hspa/hsupa caused it, it must of done as that was the last thing i did to it, 15 mins later it was dead!
Just flashed to the 1.66 so all ends well my first flash and i must say it's a lot less stressful than using Nokia Software Update, 50/50 that thing whether it will brick your phone
lol look at the page view count.a hundred people are interested, and we're all happy that you sorted it.

That was probably me franticly keeping check if anyone had any idea WTF was going on with my hd2 lol
I have had old celerons behave like that, and were talking MUCH simpler devices here...
The HD2 under some circumstances is more performing that an old celeron, and contains a hella lot more technology inside a minuscule shell, so as long as it booted again I wouldn't worry much but keep the proof of purchase handy for warranty purposes just in case
I had a similar thing happen to me this morning, I've had mine since December and it's been working fine but this morning went to wake it up after about 20 minutes and it was dead, couldn't get it to do nothing, did a soft reset and it booted up fine and has been ok since, I haven't changed or installed anything recently so I'm baffled.

This is commonly known as the "sleep of death". It's happened to quite a lot of people, and it also used to happen about once a day to my HD2 when I was on the original 1.48 WWE Hong Kong ROM. However, since I flashed to HSPL and a custom cooked ROM, it hasn't happened to me for the last month.

Great news for me. I have original 1.48 WEE ROM. Now I know what to do with this problem.
I returned the phone today, will be getting my replacement on Tuesday

HD2 wont turn on

Hey everyone, my hd2 died (original 1.48 rom), I already tried soft reset, hard reset, put out my battery, charge it and everyhting that came to my mind but when i turn it on it wont go further than the first htc image.
Is there anything i cant do or should i just take it back to the shop?
Thanks
I would take it back, even if you do fix it. You don't want a phone that may still have a underlying problem.
Htc HD2 BRICK Need HELP!!!!!!!
I flashed Duttys_Leo_Sense_2.5_5.2.23554.5.5.0_1.72_Multi-Lang_6.5.5_Radio_2.07.51.22.2_V1.2_WWE into tmobile htc hd2 cause i was [email protected]$kin goin Rom happy and didnt double check its compatibility and my screen went blank black, cant power on, cant go into bootloader, and cant hard reset but when i plug it in to my computer it recognizes it as a device without a driver i saw it in the device manager on windows 7 ulitmate. CAN I SAVE MY HTC HD2??
I KILL my htc hd2 (BRICKED)
I used HSPL2_1024_RUN.exe i flashed like 5 roms within 24hrs i was trying them out and this one made killed my hd2.
for those stuck on the htc boot image
take off the back cover of the phone and press the little red button, this will restart the phone
AS SOON AS you press it, press and hold the volume down button this will bring you to the bootloader
connect the phone via usb to your computer and flash a different radio rom (look first which are compatible with your rom)
if this doesnt work, using the same method flash back to your original rom.

for tmous with 1gb rom NEVER flash a radio with .51. in the code.
still haven't seen anyone recover from this. if anyone has please let me know.
Damn it captain!!!!!!
I just got it on the 24th shhhhhhhh....... ummm i just will take it to TMOBILE i hope i can get an other one, they may not have one in stock or they WONT give me another. i will see as soon as the store opens.
Sorry to hear about people's problems. Just remember if you have TMobile
USA there is NOT a way to flash another rom onto the phone..Just give it time the wonderful folks here are working on it. If your still in your 14 day grace period just return the phone to the store and play dumb. You might
have to wait for another phone since apparently they did not anticipate
how many people wanted this phone and sold out quickly. I know I was there
at 6:30 and the second in line and they only had 5!
Anyway, the most important thing you can do here is DO a search!
I KILL my htc hd2 (BRICKED)
BUT I have flashed roms into Tmobiles htc hd2 like TOUCH_X_TREME_23549_TMOUS_2_30_5_49 among others and they worked! i was just try different ones and i PICKED and I BRICKED!!!!!!!!!!!

sorry? sure about that? seems to me lots of people have successfully flashed their tmous hd2.
It only goes wrong if you
1 - flash a rom based on anything less than 2.10 rom
or
2 - flash a radio with ..51.. in the version number.

When I take it back do you think tmobile can they tell if i flashed a rom?

possibly, however its worth a try, there are other people that have reported they got it exchanged. the worst theu can do is send you it back un fixed. They can't keep it and make you pay for the fix.

Shamely going back to tmobile on wed
I went to tmobile last friday they tried to turn it on, pushing reset and taking out the battery so they put me on a list for this coming wed. I still got the bricked one with me they told me to bring it in for a trade. i have tried everything to turn it on but the screen remains BLACK. so i got a BLACK BRICK!!!
Any more ideas?

I do not see a little red button under the back cover. I am in the US, just bought phone, slightly used of course, no warranty. It suddenly went dead this afternoon while charging, will sometimes try to power up but will just keep flashing that one screen "stick together" over and over.....
Tried another battery, same thing.

Mine is doing the same thing . . . in the US, the reset button is right next to the SD card slot, and it's yellow. Mine wouldn't come on Friday, and I started a web chat with Tmobile to see if they would exchange it, and then it just came back on. They said as long as the white sticker at the top of the battery compartment is still white (proving you didn't get it wet), then they will exchange it. It worked fine for me the rest of the weekend (AFTER I did a hard reset, and got it running great!!). This morning, I locked it while running MobiTV, then I couldn't unlock it, so I pulled the battery. That was 2 hours ago, and it still won't come on . . .
If it doesn't come on before I leave work, I'm taking it to Tmobile tonight!!
UPDATED 20 minutes later: Just came on . . . no rhyme or reason why?? Just started after MULTIPLE times of taking out and putting back battery, SIM, and SD card. Got the same error that I've been getting the last couple months on reboots (services.exe)?? When I did a CleanRAM, it free'd up 3.36MB . . . so SOMETHING was hung up, but nothing was running in the task manager??
Generally, few task managers show what's really going on with the phone's memory. Use an advanced task manager which will allow you to control the actual processes running on your device, Google for the names of those which seem to cause mischief and terminate them (if possible) or try to find a solution.

Hey I am also Tmobile User and I have flashed a few ROMS luckily I have not Bricked my phone (knock on wood.) I was just wondering how your return went? I have insurance on mine and figured I would just take it back if that happened. I just didn't know if that would work? Did you ever get a new one
Another update . . . used my phone all afternoon, and tried to charge it, and it wouldn't charge??? Luckily, my husband has the same phone, so I checked his with the same charger. Compared the two phones, and the prongs that hit the battery were bent back. I folded them back down, and now it can charge again. Makes me wonder if that is the problem with the phone not coming back on? Maybe putting the battery back in so that it wasn't hitting the prongs has been keeping it from turning back on . . .
