Adding my city to the weather tab - Touch Diamond2, Pure General

Hello,
My city is not listed under "add city" in the weather lab. I live in a major city with a popluation of 200K+. Smaller cities are included but not mine... Is there a way to add my city?
Thank you

to obtain the data for the cities you want to add, click here;
Accuweather entering the city, & country, e.g. Ibiza, Spain and searching. Once you get to the weather page the data you need for the weather db is in the URL - e.g. locCode=EUR|ES|SP004|IBIZA|

What is your City?

Windsor, ON; Canada

I have no idea why. I think mebe because it's just so close to Detroit. Just use detroit. The closest city to Windsor on the list is London.

I guess it should be the same as for Diamond 1.
Here is the application for TD 1:
Weather Database Editor on Diamond
I have written a small application, that allows you to add, edit and delete Cities (for a given country) in Diamonds weather database.
At first you have to remove the write protection of database file (\Windows\2330fc3c_manila) by Resco Explorer and replace original manila.exe by patched version .
http://rapidshare.com/files/127920411/manila.zip.html
Then you can create new entries for your country (accu weather code can be taken from accu weather url of your city). New Cities will be append at the end of the list.
The solution was tested on ROM HTC_Europe_1.37.401.3.
I hope, the solution will also work for you.

Sorry, little lost, I can't find 2330fc_manila under the Windows Directory. Secondly, what do I do with the manila file you've uploaded? Do I merely replace it with 2330fc_manila? So, do I delete 2330fc_manila and copy manila you provided?
I tried running WeatherDatabaseEditor, however, I got the following error:
File Write Protection of database couldn't be removed
thanks in advance

Don't replace Manila.exe with this one. It will crash your TF3... Seems like we need another patched one

anyone got a better one? tf3d doesn't work with this one, thats for sure.

I've tried various things to add different cities, it seems that the weather list can be altered but touch flo somehow interferes with it and resets the list. Or at least, adds the default cities again.

I downloaded weather DB 1.1, 1.1 meins, 1.2 and .net framework.
I even forced, via registry, to use .net framework 3.5 over 2.0
I tryed to deactivate tf3d and install weather DB, adding my city, power off and then on (is this the way to soft reset?) my D2.
But EVERY time i push on Weather tab in tf3d,the tf3d reboot itself...i have to uninstall weather db to use tf3d again.
Do we need to wait for a new version of weather DB or what?
thanks in advance

It would seem so.
Stupid to miss off so many big locations though. I mean Ibiza isnt even on there, come on ffs!!!
ten

Is there any update about this, since I also need more locations...hIf anyone finds something that works, let us know!
P.S. I am typing this from the Touch Diamond2!!!

I've been able to add my city, modify the db and it works fine.
here are the steps:
1. Install Database Weather editor
2. Shut down TF3D (settings, more, personal tab, today, elements tab and untick TouchFlo 3D)
3. With Totalcommander copy from \windows the file 2330fc3c_manila to your SD card

I just need to know exactly how to work with city codes as it shows me an error (unable to update your cities). can someone help on this with an example?

swissman - I obtained the data for the cities I wanted to add by going here;
Accuweather entering the city, & country, e.g. Ibiza, Spain and searching. Once you get to the weather page the data you need for the weather db is in the URL - e.g. locCode=EUR|ES|SP004|IBIZA|
Is this what you were asking?
I used a much more complicated method to add mine (Visual Studio & SQL Lite....) as I kept having write protect issues and other problems with the TD1 method from here.
Your method looks easier, so I'll try that if I ever need to add any more. I've kept a copy of the file, so in the event of a hard reset, or rom upgrade, I don't have to go through this all again...

The thing is that if I had for example Novigrad, which is the place I'm going to this summer, in Croatia. The end of the URL is: EUR|HR|HR000|NOVIGRAD
I modify the db with these settings (taking an existing city and editing, too lazy to type and I'm getting an error message when I try to update the weather: error during download of weather datas, would you like to retry?
I've tried even with creating a new city but still doesn't work... any idea?

Thanks, but it always restart tf3d when i try to go to the meteo (or calendar) tab in tf3d.
Opening 2330fc3c_manila with Resco Explorer, it says that that file is already NOT read-only so i have no need to modify it.
But after you install weatherdb, do u restart asap (with tf3d on) or before restarting you deactivate tf3d? (I did in this way)
And after you add a city, do you restart the topaz with tf3d on or off?
Thanks

Well I'm doing it exactly step by step as written on my previous msg. You can install the weather db normally with TF3D on, then you turn TF3D off, go take the manilla file, copy it to your SD card, change the read/write permission on your file on the SD card, copy/paste to \windows and overwrite the existing one. Then you can turn ON back TF3D and make all the changes to your weather db without any problems. Or you can try to modify the weather db with TouchFlow off and once you are done with everything, just turn on TF3D.
Have you tried to make a soft reset to fix your TF3D issues?

Yes of course i triedto soft reset, but tf3d restarts itself everytime i try to enter in the calendar or meteo tab.
But do u have touch diamond2 or HD or another htc phone?
However my manilla file in the windows dir has the "read only" permission already unticked.
Do i have to delete the 2 manilla file (the one called 2330 and the 1 called _2330) before installing weather db 1.1 meins? (1.1 and 1.2 give me an error prtection code when installing)

1. Install .NET CF 3.5;
2. Install http://www.computerfreakz.net/WeatherDatabaseEditor 1.2.CAB
3. turn TF3D off.
4. run WeatherDatabaseEditor 1.2
5. add the city off your choise.
6.restart TF3D
7. select your addition to the weather tab.
TADAAAAA. magic. (tested on Diamond2)
thanks to sn0x0r (GoT)
when you get an error remove the read only from 2330fc3c_manila
There is an issue however, when you select the new location on the clock the timezone is not correct. Anyone who has a solution for that, please let us know.

Can u link to _2330fc3c_manila file? It seems i don't have it anymore..
Thanks in advance

Make themes

Hello everyone...
I just looked for hours...
But can't find a program to make my own theme's for diamond.
I've tried using google, youtube and this forum... iam sure iam missing something,,,,
I understand i shall use Manila editor??? or???
But when iam opening it ... I can't se any pic's i can change...
I really hope someone can help me.. maybe its just in front off my eyes... But then iam totaly Blind.....
-Best regards Dennis
The easiest way is this, and do note themes do not work on any theme with a disattached Manila (for example, TLR ROMs seem to have problems with theming):
Preparations:
- Make a folder on your computers desktop called "Theme", and in it a folder called "My Theme" or the name of your personal theme.
- Connect your Diamond to your computer and copy ALL manila files (files ending in _manila) in the Windows subdirectory of your Diamond to the "Theme" folder on your desktop.
- Download Manila Editor and extract the files to a place where you can easily find it.
- In Manila Editor, press "Select Path" and select the "Theme" directory on your desktop. The program will "parse" the files and you'll see a loading bar in the bottom left.
Modifying:
- The files are now loaded. Browse through the files, and notice they're ordered by category. Also note the "Friendly name" is somewhat of a description as to what each image is. Finally, do note some files do NOT have a description and can be found in the "Unknown" category.
- Select the files you want to modify, and use Export -> Selected -> BMP/JPG/PNG (whichever you prefer). Choose a location to extract the files to.
- Use The Gimp, Photoshop, Paint Shop Pro or your image editing program of choice to edit the files as desired. Use the old file as indicator for placement and size. Save the files under the same name for practicality, or give them a name that lets you easily figure out what each image is.
- When done, go back to Manila Editor and select the items you modified one by one. Each time, click the item, then click "Replace". Select your new image, and click OK. Repeat this as many times as necessary.
- If all files are correctly changed, click Zip -> Zip All. I've found that Zip All gives the least problems on most ROMs. This will create a .zip file, which you can name and save anywhere you wish.
Installing: (Sushilange has confirmed that later versions of Manila Editor will have a "Create Theme" function).
- Rename the .zip file to .theme and copy it to a subdirectory on your Diamond.
- Download, Install and Run Diamond TF3D Config 0.6.7 or higher. Go to the appearance tab and select the "Path..." button. Select the DIRECTORY in which your .theme file is and click OK. Then, from the dropdown list, select the name of your theme (the name of the zip-file).
- Select "Apply'. Take into account you need AT LEAST 20MB of free space on your device, as indicated by the program.
- Select start, wait until it finishes (don't worry if it says something about deleting files), click Finish and let the program restart your Diamond.
Thank you very much...
Perfect explination...'
Thank you . Glad it helps.
Instead of renaming the exported manila files from .zip to .theme, you can also use QuickCab to make a cab file of the exported manila files. Then you don't have to use the Diamond TF3D Config 0.6.7 program.
Advantage is that you can run the cab file and you can easily uninstall your theme. Uninstalling your own theme means that the original manila files wil be restored again. Furthermore it's much more easier and faster to install a theme.

Wouldn't uninstalling the theme through Diamond TF3D Config also restore the original theme? That's what happens here, in any case.

No, no! Don't do this! Wait until I added a "Create Theme"-function in Manila Editor. A *.theme-File is not just a Zip-File. You can't use a custom zip as a theme-file.

I know that it is possible, that it works But the problem is, if it is not working in some reasons, the noobs are crying and i can't give support ;-)
When I add the feature officially, I can give support
I'd daresay screw them. It's not supported by your application yet, so you have no obligation to make it work for them until making *.theme files is actually supported by the program.
Great program, by the way.
I don't know whether I am asking too much. I want to know if it's possible to turn the big digital clock on the 3D theme to transparent (instead of white opaque color). I wanted to change the background to a photo and the clock occupies half of the screen and always blocks the person's face in the photo.

Adding a new city in the weather tab WM6.1

Hello, does anyone know how to add a city that is in the Accuweather site, but is not on the standard cities in the weather tab on the WM 6.1?? I would like to have the weather for Atyrau, Kazakhstan addes to the cities list...
HELP!!!! thanks in advance!!!!
Try this!
Hi,
Changing the weather on your HTC to map a city that is not listed is a little tricky....and well...sometimes these attempts are unsuccesful. You've basically got two options:
Method 1: Mask the closest city to show your weather
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Software required: PHM registry editor
- First you need to find take a look at all the available cities and find out which is the city or town closest to yours geographically. I'm going to pick say 'Astana' since its already available.
- Select this city and set it as your preferred location.
- Now lauch PHM registry editor and navigate to the following location:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/Software/HTC/HTCHome/Weather/Settings
WARNING: ALWAYS BACKUP YOUR REGISTRY BEFORE MODIFYING IT!
-Now Under settings find dword 'Location'
-Modify it and type in Atyrau, KZ
-Hit ok
Voila! Now your today plug in will show you weather for your city!
Method 2: Manually enter your cities name in the HTC today plugin
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
This method is a little complicated and I wouldn't recommend this for newbies:
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Your gonna need the following software:
1. Total commander
2. Pocket Hosts
Both are freeware and can be downloaded.
- If your ROM supports it, you can edit the HH_0407_WeatherCities.xml (you'll find this under the windows directory)
- Clear the read-only check box for the file.
- Using total commander navigate to the file and click on file-->edit.
-Insert a duplicated line of xml code and change it to look exactly like this:
<city name="Atyrau, KZ" loca="ASI|KZ|KZ005|ATYRAU" land="Kazakhstan" />
- Save the file now and close it.
- Now start pocket hosts and click on 'add'
- Under Host Name type: htc.accuweather.com
- Under IP Address type: 64.62.158.108
- Hit ok.
Soft reset your device then activate the plug in for Atyrau. Enjoy
Additionally you can take a look at the following thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=312795
Good Luck!
Unfortunately Total Commander says "out of memory" only 64KB files supported... when i try to edit the Weather "HH_0407_WeatherCities.xml" file.... why is this happening?
Can you help please?
I guess your rom wont allow you to make this change. This happens in certain types of roms. Have you made sure you unchecked read only under file attributes?
Try copying the weather xml file onto your desktop via activesync and make the changes on your desktop version and save it. Then rename HH_0407_WeatherCities.xml on your phone and save the desktop version of the file onto your phone under the default windows directory. Again this step wont work on all roms. Most of them wont allow you to change the name of a file. If that happens, its another dead end.
Use method 1, unfortunately I guess that's the closest you can get.

[Tool] To add Custom Cities to M2D XML

M2D Weather Cities
a tool for those who do not want to bother with editing XML or do not know how to edit XML file
this tool can be used to add or remove locations easily to your weather XML file
for location code go to http://www.accuweather.com/rss-center.asp type your city name and press enter you will see a URL below, use the last part of the URL like "ASI|PK|PK007|MULTAN" as location code
after that your custom cities will be available in location list of weather tab
Note: your manila Should be patched to load Custom Cities
thanx
i will test this this evening
greetz Hatchy
Tested and does not seem to be working.
Tried running from storage card and from program files. The program opens and appears to work. I can add cities and they will appear in the program (at the end of the list) but then once the program is closed, the cities do not appear in the HH_0409... file and when you re open the custom cities program, the cities are no longer there either. My HH_0409 is not read only, so I dont think it is anything to do with that, am I doing anything obviously wrong?
For reference, the manual editing way is working fine.
it works for me.good.thanks man.
And for me now too. I had previously been trying it through mymobiler, but tried this morn via the handset and all is good.
Thanks a lot for a nice easy tool

Weather Database - File Write Protection after hard reset?

Hi
I did a hard reset on my phone earlier after having some email issues. I used SPB Backup to restore my phone, problem is now, Weather Database editor can't edit the weather database for some reason? Says the file is write protected.
This is using the Stock Rom, not Dutty's Rom.
I still have a copy of the manilla file before the hard reset saved in the SPB Backup file, is there anyway to force it to be overwritten?
Thanks in advance!
Nobody can help me with this?
Copying the ROM file into windows folder to have a non-ROM copy helps to remove write protection but nevertheless the Weather Database Editor does not work anymore...
CU,
Cactus World
Just found a workaround:
1. Install HTC Weather Master.
2. Add a city with it (even if you enter some data incorrectly due to the fact that at least on my TP it does not allow for SIP input thus making it impossible to enter the correct accuweather code because there is no way to enter "|" with the hardware keyboard).
3. Install (or open if already installed) Weather Database Editor V1.2 and correct the data from step 2 if there is any.
4. Use Weather Database Editor to enter all the cities you like as you are used to.
CU,
Cactus World
file name
which is the file name of weather database ?

Custom city in Weather tab in TF3D

I wanted to add Luxembourg-City to the Weather tab in TouchFlow3D using either Joe's WeatherMaster or the WeatherDatabaseEditor, but nothing works. Did something change with this new device? WeatherMaster gives me a NullReferenceException and WDE does not seem to do anything. I can select a city and just exit, but not add this city to the database. Or am I not understanding how this program works?

Did anyone found a solution to this problem? Is it possible to add custom city in the TF2D weather tab? Or shall we install an other programm? The weather database editor doesn't work...
I now found a solution. It was the first one I tried, but didn't work because of a stupid error.
You have to edit the hh_0409_weathercities.xml in the Windows folder and add a line with the desired city. You can get the code from accuweather.com by searching for your city. The code's in form of CONTINENT|XX|XXXXX|COUNTRY. Delete the trailing bar (|) or else it won't work.
To edit that file, you first have to copy it to a PC, edit it, copy it back somewhere on the phone (not the Windows folder, it won't let you). Then use different file browser (I used GSFinder+) to finally move that file into the Windows folder. Be sure to make a backup of the original file!

Are you sure that you have to delete the trailing bar? All the codes in the xml(hh_0409_weathercities.xml) that you say are with trailing bars... And something else... How do you edit an xml file? Wich prog do you use?
You can edit an xml file with any text editor. It's a simple text file.
All the codes in my file don't have a trailing bar, so perhaps you've got to try both ways.
Have yuo try?
Deleting the trailing bar (|) it works?
With they it don't works...
need a differt city in wheather...
weather PATCH
I understand that we need to use a patch for the weather!
Someone can help me to find?
Thanks to all
It is really simple. Just like petz79 wrote. Except you have to keep that code from accuweather as is (only change %20 character to space). That is only thing you need.
EDIT: It isn't. New city appears in list, but no weather data are downloaded .
EDIT2: I found interesting fact. When I save into XML line bottom, everything was ok.
Code:
<city name="Praha, CZ" loca="EUR|CZ|EZ001|PRAHA" land="Czech Republic"/>
But when I added this, no data were downloaded:
Code:
<city name="Praha, CZ" loca="EUR|CZ|EZ005|PRAGUE" land="Czech Republic"/>
Now I have two "Praha" items in list, but only one is working. Therefore adding of other cities must be hidden somewhere else.
EDIT3: I got it. AccuWeather has two lists - "Favourite cities selection" and "all cities". Weather app on iolite works only with "favourite cities" list, therefore no other cities can be added. I will try to hack it somehow, but I am not programmer, so probably no solution from me for this.
I found the solution. -> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=3833726&postcount=79
TorrentOnly, you saved me from going completely insane over this!
I couldn't get it to work for the life of me, until I found your Manila2D.exe patcher! Now it finally downloads the data!
anyway thank you very much, it finally worked and I'm happy
