Caller ID problem on HTC Touch Diamond2. - Touch Diamond2, Pure General

I have a huge caller id problem with htc diamond2.
Outlook 2007 and HTC DIamond2.
The problem...
1. My default settings.
My phone numbers are stored without any masks by default in outlook 2007.
Example: Smith, John: +38970333333.
(+389-70-333333 +country code-area code-phone number)
If you dial from another country you will have to dial +38970333333.
After importing all my numbers in HTC D2 contact book the problems started.
Caller ID is not recognizing any incoming number stored by default.
If the incoming number from Smith, John is stored by default as +38970333333 the caller id is only bringing up the short number version 070333333.
Well I was sure that I will fix this with the registry change of the Caller ID match rule.
Caller ID rule: from 8 to 7 (and 6 and 5 .. ) trailing digits for Call ID match.
* HKCU\Control Panel\Phone\CalIidMatch value:7 (and 6 and 5 ... )
Immediately after the restart the I faced the fact that I won’t have any sleep in the next few nights.
2. What I found out later was that the only way for caller ID to work was to have a full number stored but with the zero in the area code included ?!!
So now in Diamond2 phone book ,
Smith, John: +38970333333 /(+389-70-333333 +country code-area code-phone number) is now stored as :
Smith, John: +389070333333 / (+389-070-333333 +country code-full area code-phone number)
This way,
a. the caller id works perfectly;
b. when dialing from the phone book, that extra zero (070) is somehow automatically removed ( I can see that while the phone is dialing the number) and there are no problems;
c. when sending SMS from the phone book, that extra zero (070) is NOT automatically removed so sending SMS from the phonebook is NOT working.
SMS can be send only manually with typing:
- the phone number a in full version without the extra zero +38970333333 or
- the phone number in short version with the zero 070333333.
_________
I travel a lot, and advices like "put your number in short version" won’t work for me.
Why that Caller id match rule is not working?
Same default format (Smith, John: +38970333333. (+389-70-333333 +country code-area code-phone number) worked perfectly with my htc diamond1 with CalIidMatch value 7.
At this moment and after few sleepless nights and lots of hours of reading and digging and hard resets, I am out of ideas.
Please advice.
Thanks,
KraFT

Have you tried to save all the phone numbers in this format:
+country (area without zero) local
I have mine all like this and when you use the outlook "form" which you can get by double tapping on the field and put in the data, the phone# will end up like that.

HTC Fix
Hi,
Had the same problem - the fix from this link fixed it...
http://www.htc.com/in/SupportViewNews.aspx?dl_id=673&news_id=257
Have you checked it out already?

I had weird caller ID problems before.
It turns out this was because the first time I started up my device, I didn't have a SIM in there.
When I did a hard reset with a SIM present (and selected Yes when asked to copy the SIM contacts), everything worked afterwards.

Sending contact to someone else

Is there any way to send a contact (Business Card) to another mobile by txt message or bluetooth as there is on other phones?
Sure you can. Open the Contacts application, tap & hold the contact you want to beam and select the 'Beam Contact" option. Alternatively you can use the Tools -> Beam Contact menu.
So, can I send contact (s) via bluetooth?
I understand that you tell us about a irda beaming. it works of couse.
ps. sorry for bad english.
Yes, can you please reply if you know how to send them by txt or bluetooth. Beaming by infra red is covered in the user manual.
I think that is no way to send contacts via bluetooth on Magician, becouse i can do it on my HP2210 just via OBEX exchange (files, contacts), but Magician have no this system
(means OBEX)
Thanks for microsoft for the best bluetooth drivers, that we have on our Magician devices
I also don´t think you can because there is no bluetooth feature in contacts, only beam.
Björn
we need ObjectPush service on Magician to send contacts via bluetooth.
this servise provides possibilities to connect different platformed devices such as SE K700i and HP2210.
this devices successfully negotiating with each other.
i have send a one and a group of contacts.
Beaming contacts with bluetooth
Hi,
Beaming contacts with bluetooth is possible also with Magicians! Just select the contact you want to send, tap it until the menu opens and then select "beam contact".
After that, your magician will search for other devices - ir-devices first, then (presuming you turned on bluetooth before and the desired device is visible) bluetooth devices. This is rather slow, so don't be impatient...
After a few seconds the name of the other devices around you will be shown and you just have to tap the name to send the contact.
HTH,
BGK
Bluetooth does indeed work. Just done it. Thanks for that
however, what if I want to send someone a Contact to add to her phone when they are somewhere else in the World??
As discussed > > here < < , the old "Nokia" method of SMS'ing the contact to someone won't work. Read the link.
Try this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=17343&highlight=vcard
this is the real deal!!!
thats all we need!
Thanks Baldboy and everyone else. Just remember...
...to set your numbers with an International prefix otherwise you'll get an error message.
you means the SMS sending?
it's operatrors dependent option.
some Russian operators uses only international prefix +7
some uses both +7 and 8 (russian long distance prefix)
It is quite easy to do this, as it is with files. The only things you need is to check "Receive all incoming data" and a phone or computer which also provides the OBEX Object Push profile.
Dandie, you talking about receiving, but all we thinking about sending contacts
topic's name is - Sending contact to someone else
not receiving but thanks for your participation
Yeah, but when you want to send a contact, you also need a receiver, don't you? So, if you want to send a contact to another Magician (or similar device) you would have to do what I said, because otherwise you would get an unexpected error. But thank you for the indoctrination ...
To clarify the prefix thing...
I sent a contact to my Nokia (in the UK) and always got the "Not Sent (Wapsend)" error message. I then changed the number I was sending to so it included the +44 prefix for the UK and it worked fine. the Nokia didn't need to be told to receive it. Does anyone know of a program that automatically adds the prefix to your mobile numbers? I used to have a Psion revo and there were a couple of apps that did it but I can't find one for the PPC. If not, no worries, I'll do it as and when (which won't be very often)
Sending Vcard via SMS
Go to Messaging, then make sure you are in your MMS account. Create a new MMS without any template. Then when in composing window, press EDIT. You'll see the option ADD VCARD. Look for the vcard you want to attach. Then choose your recipient. Don't add anything else! Don't add a picture, or audio, or even text. I sent one to my wife and she received it on her Nokia 6820.

Update 9/30/2009 - Fixes, added functionality, and program your own call providers!
I wanted to share a program I've been working on - it's basically an enhanced Caller ID. On incoming SMS or phone calls a window pops up that displays,
- The full name of caller
- Address of caller with a map link
- The number of FTC and caller complaints (to tell if it’s a spam call)
- Telco name and location (can tell what carrier the call is from)
- Relatives of caller (with age!)
- Criminal History
I've also added the ability to add the caller to the contacts book, return the call, and look at past calls. A standalone GUI to run alone and lookup past calls can also be used.
As of v .6, you can make your own call information providers for NetCallerID (and I need help/looking for people to help write providers for international support.). Documentation/HOWTO make a call information provider can be found at
http://www.netcallerid.com/bbpress/topic.php?id=5
Looking for suggestions, changes, additions - definitely let me know and I will happily (and quickly) add them. You can reach me at [email protected]
Release Notes --
- NetCallerID waits until the call is answered or finished before doing the network calls. For the most part, the network connection is unavailable until the phone call is ended.
- If roaming is enabled NetCallerID waits until your out of roaming.
- All history of calls are in the program files\netcallerid\calllogs directory in html format. You can view these with Opera or Pocket IE.
- The setup automatically starts the program. I also put it in \Windows\Startup to start when you re-start the phone.
Download:
http://www.netcallerid.com/get
Instructions:
Just download the cab and run it on the device. It will automatically start and also start on reset. For the msi, install it on the PC, it will be added to your phone when you connect it to the PC. Go under programs and click the netcallerid icon to run the standalone GUI.
This is very alpha. Pre alpha even. I'm not liable for anything, run at your own risk, etc etc etc

- SMS is now turned off by default. Some people were getting Very.Bad results where SMS messages were being swallowed. I *think* it should be fixed but unsure, it's something in the SMS .net interception library. If you really want SMS turn it on under config, do a soft reset, and if you see your not getting SMS messages immed. uninstall and let me know!
- added whitepages.com lookups
-
Changes for v .2

this looks awsome!
does this work in the UK? ill definately try this!!!
thanks for your work!
MG
will this work for India !!!!!!!!
Malaysia would be great as well...
Does this app work with some reverse call lookup? If so, it isn't going to work for the UK .
If you guys/gals know of a UK provider of caller information I can add/create a new call information provider...
Looks promising.
Installed it and it didnt work.. I live in Canada it only gave address: Montreal.
Everything else was unknown.
I even looked up my friend's number from the US and everything was unknown..
Am I doing something wrong? Please guide me.
Thanks.

Would love to but I believe reverse call look up is prohibited in the UK, thus there are no providers.
mmmhhh86: if you know of any good canadian call information providers (web sites) let me know. basically just need a site where you can pass in the # and get the information back. i can then add it to my queue... or if you know PHP (at a basic level) you can create one, www.netcallerid.com/support and i posted a HOWTO on how to do it.
and that sucks about the UK. no site that has caller information....

Contacts photos not always appearing

I am not sure if this has to do with android in general or the specific motoblur rom in use by the Droid PRO. I have photos saved to some people in my phonebook, as most of you do. However, sometimes when I call these people, or they call me, instead of getting their contact picture appear I get this (the default image):

I don't understand what is causing this to happen. Could it have something to do with google voice forwarding?
Update:
I think this one describes it:
http://www.google.com/support/forum/p/voice/thread?tid=0f0426af87896e06&hl=en
Essentially, incoming phone calls through my GV show the contact photo of the person trying to reach me, as is expected. *That must be because the phone registers the correct phone number upon incoming call and properly associates it with the person's contact photo that I have saved with Google Contacts. *Outgoing calls are automatically routed through GV, and use a different GV assigned phone number, but although after the GV bubble with the routing phone # disappears, and the person's name and real phone number appears, the contact photo remains a blank. *Calling the same person without GV produces the proper contact photo.
So does anyone know a way to make GV properly associate the outgoing calls with the contact photos?
Is the problem with all contacts or is it isolated to a more specific group? I have an atrix, and before a rom upgrade all my contacts worked fine. Since then I've been having issues with facebook contacts pictures but not in all areas. My contacts list works fine, as well as incoming/outgoing calls, but sms and home screen widgets only load a few images. All manually entered pics work, and a select few facebook contacts work as well.
Some questions to isolate the issue - are you using a custom rom, stock, or updated factory rom? Is this a new issue since an upgrade or a recently installed app? And finally, do the pics work in some areas but not others?
Sent from my MB860 using XDA App
I am using the updated rom.
I am quite sure that the problem is with Google Voice's forwarding, and the phone not associating the forwarding number with the contact. In fact, the default dialer application shows the routed number in outgoing calls, which led me to switch to Dialer One, since it would properly display the outgoing calls true phone numbers and not GV's routed ones.
As I've said, when I turn off GV, my phone properly displays the contact photos since it's not using GV's routed numbers.
That narrows it down pretty well. Obviously gv is the problem. Maybe there's an update to gv? I'm not familiar with it but will check into it when I get a chance.

[Q] Number displays instead the saved contact name on Samsung note 4

As per the title, its just the number which displays instead name. I've noticed that multiple contact syncs are active and disabled all except for one which I require. But still the problem persists. I've also selected the preferred contacts which needs to be sorted on contact settings which didn't work too.
On a related note, our network provider does not send the CLID with the country code but just raw number... Nevertheless, the contacts on my account stored are with the country code including `+` sign. Whatsoever, the contact app should display the saved contact name despite how it is saved since the number is available.
Are there any work around to over come this issue? or is this really a bug in the OS?

this problem can happen if you have 1 number stored in multiple names.
delete all the contacts, save only 1 number under 1 name & try to call from that no.
you need to optimize your duplicate contacts, use this app, works wonders...

Well, I'm pretty sure this has nothing to do with duplicated contacts as I've checked it. Certain people says that it can be due to the OS as well. Now, what my question is that flashing another regional OS will work out or not. If so, how to do it as I've never meddled with a Samsung device at all.
Hi There!
I've flashed another regional stock ROM from Sammobile which fixed the issue. I'm not too sure what had gone wrong but assuming that it was the OS which was causing issue.
Thank you for all the support.

Have you tried saving "Your Darling" to your list of contacts without the country code?
Perhaps "My Darling Phone" for one and "My Darling SMS" for the other.
+1 is US and Canada
