[THE] Black Kandi [WA3] - Touch Diamond, MDA Compact IV Themes and Apps

Here we have Black Kandi for VGA Devices Portrait and Landscape supported. I have included both 'VOLUME' and 'LOUD' buttons in both states, use whichever you prefer.
I have also included alternate taskbars as it was mentioned over at the lakeridge forums that some people may prefer a solid blue line on the taskbar.
When in portrait, you will probably need to disable the clock because if you have more than 4 icons showing the clock goes over the top of the start button. Works fine in landscape though. This is my first full WA3 theme so lots of feedback would be much appreciated.

Thanks to Wez89 for adding sounds to my theme, there are 2 versions available. With or without sound.
Green Version now added, comes with alternate taskbars/softkeys etc.

It's really awesome!Thank you!

CONGRATULATIONS : great work and very nice skin, i love it !
I have 2 requests :
Is it possible for you to make the same with red lines instead of blue ?
At the bottom the blue line is cut in the middle : could you make a unique line from left to right ?
Thanks a lot,

Bottom bars now available in 1st post, both portrait and landscape.
as for the other colours i'm currently working on:
GREEN (To match standard TF3D), ORANGE, RED, YELLOW, and PINK!

Looks really nice from the pics. what is WA3 though? & how to install this?

woow looks very nice!! but what is wa3?

Wisbar Advance 3: Click here

Yes I find it looks better now with the full line.
So, i'll wait for the new colors,
THANKS for your answer !

Green version now added

Pretty amazing. Thanks

this ia a awesome theme

EDIT: My apologies, I've figured out the issue with installing it - for others who are curious, download the WA3 cab file and install it, download the theme, extract it and copy it to your phone. With WA3 running, click on the menu button and go to settings. Once there click themes > wisbar theme. In the lower pane select "Install" from the menu items. Navigate to the folder with the theme - the WA3 file should be shown in the list (BlackKandi), click this and press "OK" in the top corner.
EDIT 2: OK I have finally found my way around WA3 however there is an annoying little issue I'm having with the top panel icons. They align perfectly fine except for a slightly bigger gap between the Start icon and the following icon. This causes the display to look slightly off. I'm a bit of a perfectionist I kinda notice it like its a huge gap! Also this causes the final two icons to be too close together.
Another thing I have noticed is the "Connected" icon - when connected its fine however when I remove my usb connection - it displays the silly icon instead of Itext which is not very eye pleasing (this may be because i don't use 3g or gprs connections). However I don't particularly need this icon so if the gap is fixed then I'd be happy enough as I think the them is fantastic.

yeah thats how it is supposed to be used, well thats how it was intended lol
go to wisbar settings>taskbar then select 'clock' and make sure the checkbox isnt ticked
then select 'window title' make sure the checkbox isnt ticked

i like the theme a lot but i dislike wa3 to be honest

what are your reasons for disliking wa3?

please could i see a screenshot? i'm not sure what you mean. as for the not connected icon, there is a setting to display nothing when disconnected. you need to apply this setting. when making the icons the word 'disconnected' was too long to fit on a button and didn't look right. then when i thought about it, i realised i didnt use it anyway lol. hope this helps

Ok i finally corrected all the issues - a simple case of uninstalling everything and reinstalling. I installed the Blue theme this time with the sound files, for a change lol. All is perfectly fine now - now bigger gaps and nothings is too close together.
I love the theme, its great. It works really well with the TF3D and is a good change from the rather cluncky default windows task bar. Obviously the core windows functions are still present (and looking terrible) but i guess this is something they will fix with windows mobile 7. Or atleast thats what i believe ... its microsoft after all ...

yeah its a shame, i'd skin everything if i could lol. glad you like it. it took me a while to make it but i'm more than happy with the outcome

Apologies for not saying thanks in my previous post as this certainly deserves it. It's definatly an ace theme, one i'm sure many people will like. Well Done!

wonderful.great.Would you also please made one in red syle?

might not fit in this section of the forum.. but...
whoever's a cultmember of Black... you're invited to download the following.
1. If you want to remove the taskbar and softkeys (idea taken from bluemetalaxe)..
put vjtoggle.. in the startup folder under \Windows
2. If you're up for the transparent or blue HTC Home backgrounds you need to use HHC..(HTC Home Customizer).. (www.pocketemu.com).. put the Transparent and WM7 folders in the bg folder in the HHC installation folder.
3. to put the WM7 icons just put WM7ico in icons folder in HHC inst folder.
4. Of course, classicblack.tsk is the classic black skin for the today screen.
5. Use Smartskey (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=256525) to map your Start Menu and OK/Close Hotkeys if you're up for using VJtoggle to lose your taskbar and softkeys..
6. Use BatteryMeter to see the batterylevel on top always if using VJToggle (http://www.freewarepocketpc.net/ppc-download-vistahide-battery-gauge-v1-1-1.html)
if you decide to lose the taskbar you can use another phonealarm skin which contrains both signal and battary status...
FYI. background pictures take up ram and slow the device. also, the blacker a screen is the longer the screen will live (less power is spent on lighting the screen) (just finished a Modern Physics course in the Uni.. )
so whoever has a slow device and/or wants to keep his screen alive longer (such as myself.. having a 195MHz wizard).. enjoy..

the right scr (and current one), also has a transparent Phonealarm skin which doesn't take too much space but controls bluetooth and wifi from the today screen.
the iconset is a bit blueish thanks to a WM7 iconset and the systray has been removed completely. also, the Handyswitcher icon on the upperleft corner can be changed from within handyswitcher to anything else.
If you want to change your device's colors (fonts, menus, windows,... EVERYTHING)... to black.. you can use UI Tweaker:

ClassicBlack RAR Download Link:

Thx, it looks nice
And for those who would like to have it with startmenu bar but without the softkeys: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=320349&highlight=hide+softkeys
See there step 3 for the registry values.
nir36,
Thanks for this. The black background is very black; Best rendition of black I have yet seen on a ppc. Most blacks tend to be grey.
Well done.
WB
if anyone knows how to change the color of the font to make it a bit darker.. (save more energy ).... and ditch that scrollbar... please let me know
also...
make sure when using VJToggle.. if you change StartSize to see the Taskbar change it to 26 DECIMAL.
Looks nice....
Great job.....
i heard there is a special char blackclock for HTC home which is lighted on the edges.. if anyone finds it, i'd apperciate if you post it here so i can add it to the RAR.. and use it myself
nice work
thank you
SoloBlack Theme
Here is my contribution for the Black Theme fans out there....
I have been trying to get a nice, clean and professional Black environment to go along with the beautiful black X500+ and get rid of the boring grey layout inside the applications.
So far I've managed to get my device to look like the pictures below (nice black interface with a cool dark grey/orange effect for selections):
The tools I used:
Soloblack Theme (tsk attached) - just copy to the /windows/ folder on your device and select from the Theme selection screen. Nice thing about this tsk is the size. 15Kb ONLY!
UI Tweaker (scheme provided) - http://mobile-sg.com/ - it's freware and you can inport the color scheme provided.
Optional:
SKTools - http//www.s-k-tools.com - I'm pretty sure the tsk and the scheme files attached will fix all colours. If not you might need this application to do some additional tweaking. Most of the colors can be customized using UI Tweaker but a few need additional tweaking sofwares like SKtools. I can provide my SKTools configuration screens if you guys need it.
Note that SKtools is a commercial app but there are freeware with similar UI tweaking possibilities.
It's very hard to get a pure black environment. Even in this case a pure black and white is very difficult since each developer picks it's own settings for colors. I've been trying back and forth for almost a week now to get this far so if any one
Problems so far:
1. TCPMP - lower buttons are all white. You need to select them to read
2. Messaging - Message head needs to be selected to be read
If anyone finds a fix please post here.
This colour scheme was made for a X500+ running WM6.1 custom ROM but should work on all WM5/WM6 devices.
USE AT YOUR OWN RISK! If you don't like selecting the default themes should get your device original colours back.
beautiful

[THE] Transparant (Glass) slider! And 2 Clocks

I've made a transparant slider. (without icons on it)

transparant b.g. bricks

zip files
I've also made a Digital (Sprint) Clock and a Analog Clock.
Clock and slider and lower icons seems less whitish, but hte TF3D big icons seem still white - not changed?
I think it might be easier to show pre and post difference (not only clock but "mensen" for example)
I did not change any icon on this theme. (so you can use your own)
I only have made a new slider, now it's fully transparant. It's not showing any icon on top of it. (only under)
And i've made the bottom bar and b.g bricks transparant. Thats all.
We always wanted to get rid of Diamond blackness and you are giving us a piece of black hole But it looks really great. Im considering downloading it. Much better would be to reverse the colors. White would be the base and then use some colors on the icons...
Hi pamas, could you you please tell me which files are just for the slider, I have been looking for that. Or could you even better just post a zip with only the transparent slider, thanks.

I recommend this slider
This slider looks great and works perfectly with my theme, I hated the old one it looks so ugly. So I thoroughly recommend this customisation to all. Thanks again pamas,
Your welcome. Thnx!
I've edited it a little bit. Moved the slider a few pixels down.
Ok will try the new one as well.
After installing the bottom bar and slider my htc is acting really strange. I have soft reset it three times. It doesnt allow me to type in my pin password and doesnt even load touchflo3d
Thx
The new slider works fine for me and looks great.
Removing them now my htc is back to normal!

my touchflo wouldn`t load either?? i have unloaded it and now back to normal. shame i like the idea of no backing to the icons
Yeah, i dont like having the menu bar's i want to remove them but this seems to be the only way But doesnt work.
Great thanks
By any chance you could create a semi transparent (glass-like, doesnt need shades) bar?
just the bar, icons not needed.
Great, thanks

Same on this side, touchflo will not start anymore, after removing this it is back to normal. Hope there will be any solution.
By the way, the problem is couse the tranparant slider. The transparant bottembar is working fine.
Maybe some people are having manilla build issues I have 1.2.34837.3_1813.6 at the bottom of my settings tab and the slider is great for me. I have Dutty's 2.2 rom (great).
Just installed the transparent bottom bar .cab on my TouchPro to add to over a dozen other Manilla mods... works really well.....!
Thanks for sharing pamas.....
.
It's a beautiful work pamas!
Thanks!
But it doesn't work with call history tab (TF3D doesn't want to launch) and Black_HTC_ColourTabs (the standard tabs re-apear...)
Maybe you could make something?

That is really good! If it's possible, do you think you could make it as the home tabs transparency? without the blackscale? so they match equally?
That would be terrific! And maybe extend the transparency down to the menu bar?
Cheers mate!
I have done a cab file for my own transparant slider, if u have any ideas for a nother slider, just send me a pm

is it possible to create a cab that can make semitransparent bottom and top bar?
yes i think so, i can fix it later, i have a lots of homeworks to do tonight

Attention with that one, it kinda ****ed up my TouchFlo. Installed it, rebooted, and then it only said "tap here to start touch flo 3d" and if tapped it said "starting touch flo" for some seconds and then reverted back to "tap here..."
After uninstallation it works again but keeps asking me to tap the screen to start TouchFlo when I turn on the device which really sucks. Any way to get it back to automatic start?
Great mod! Now my TF3D is perfect: transparent top bar, semi transparent bottom bar, transparent flip clock, tranparent program tab, background image in every tab and change the background image every 30 mins automatically . It's better than iPhone !!!
strange then why doesn't it work for me? I got official 1.93 rom installed, and with the cab my touchflo won't start anymore.
Is there any other cab like this one floating around? I don't want to test the other cab from ricky, the first one in this thread cause its also from him and I expect similar problems.
But, what the real problem is with transparent bars is that you can see the text of the settings tab behind the slider bar, and I had a completely transparent bar before and in the programs tab it cut off the 4th row of buttons about halfway behind the sliderbar, the same was for the canvas' of pictures in the photo tab. isn't this partly visible also here, with a semi transparent bar?
you know what REALLY would rock? a kind of smaller sliderbar, about half thick so that it matches with the cutoff line of the pictures and the program buttons. Is something like that possible or even done?
I mean something like this, the reddish tint I added means the solid slider bar and above it should be transparent.

Bump.
I would be interested in a semi-transparent bottom bar with the same transparency as the one for the Home tab, but haven't got a clue how to go about it. Can anyone assist please? The .cab posted by RichardTenggren is semi-transparent, but is darker than the one on the Home tab.
I am aware that there are plenty of fully transparent ones, but I would prefer a semi-transparent version.

After getting TF3D to work exactly how I liked, I decided to make it look the way I like it as well.
I've started to find out how to modify the interface and spent quite some hours on creating my own theme now.
Once version 1 is complete, I will create a CAB and upload it here for all to enjoy.
From there I might modify it here and there, depending on my own liking and your feedback.
Current Features:
- Custom background
- Downscaled, modified clock.
- Invisible Sliderbar
- Modified, glowing Slider
- Altered Program launcher menu buttons
- Modified upper curtain
- Custom Icons
- Semitransparent, silver highlights.
To-do list:
- Camera Tab
- Stock Tab
- Settings Tab
- Dialer
Feedback is appreciated, stay tuned!
EDIT: Removed old preview, added new one!
NOTE: This preview turns out a little darker than it does on the phone itself!
little too gothic imo

That's a bit harsh.
I did not intend it to be gothic. I liked the mountains behind the lake at night on the background picture. Added the moon and clouds to that, as it nicely fits the theme. From there I built the rest.
I do not consider a lake at night "gothic" - but that's my view.
How do you think I can improve it then? By lighting up the clock a bit?
Black and blue, shots of the moon ect do tend to come across a bit gothic. Added to that the font for the clock looks like tombstone engravings. All a bit dark and gloomy for me, but its good to see themes being made.
Alright, I'm going to put some color in there. I think the clock is a major contributor to the "gloomy" part.
Looks very good!
I think it looks good as is too! I didn't think it was too "gothic" or "gloomy" but I tend to prefer darker colors on the today screen and TF3D.
Regardless, very nice work thus far!
sorry if that sounded harsh, dark themes are nice but sometimes it gets a little too "dark"
New preview!
I found that adding other colors just made it look rediculous. Thus, to make it less gloomy, I added silver and glow effects, which still fit the theme.
You can compare them by viewing the attachments. feedback!
Excellent.
You probably gonna kill me for this but any chance of a landscape mod for this also ?? or is that way to much code ?
landscape mode will be very hard to add, we just made first step in mode9 file editing few days ago so expect long time before landscape support
anyway, the theme is cool but that 1 pixel line in middle of clock is ugly... as ugly (I suspect) will be the flipping clock animation. I'm working on sprint clock version for manilaHD, hope you like it when (if ) will be ready I had same issue with my manila customization

Well, yeah. the line is kind-of bothersome and the animation looks kind-of borky. But on the phone itself, it doesn't bother me as much. The animation looks fair and the line, well, sure, if you keep staring at the screen all the time, looking for something wrong, yes.
If, however, you find a way to fix it, do tell me.
About the landscape, it has to be coded in first, when that's done, sure I can skin it, the files already exist. Just need to have the code!
Nice work!! I don't think it looks gothic at all. Its all SEXIFIED!!! LOL
sure, I mean about code landscape, once coded has to be skinned same way as other manila parts
about the clock, manila it's a mess, for now i'm able to have sprint clock but only 1 appointment in home (like diamond) but I want all 4 appointment as manila HD can do. But again, who programmed manila shoul be [censored]
To be honest, I like it a lot. If/When I get an X1, I'll either be looking for something like this, or a nice beach scene theme-wise.
My only gripe that comes to mind is that horizontal line in the middle of the clock numbers. Does that have to be there?

Due to the way manila is coded, at this time I cannot remove it. It is less visible on the phone itself though, so it's not a big deal.

[Q] How to display clock and battery on top taskbar?

Does anyone know how to display both the clock and the battery in the top taskbar? Thanks
Would like to know if this is possible too.
I don't neccesary need the time in taskbar when in HTC Sense, but when I'm using an application, it would be nice to see the time.

Agreed. If possible no third party add-on apps. But, if all else fails....
+1 Would also want to see the clock and battery icon in every application (which allows taksbar)
It would be great to have both the battery and the clock in the taskbar. If not, every time we must go to the home screen to see the clock!

kBattery v1.1.9 Freeware
A couple of notes:
- This is a common annoyance for all WM Phones below and including 6.5.0, the other forums are flooded with the same kind of requests.
- To my knowledge there is no registry hack to get both.
- You can customise the width and position of the battery/clock.
- It is essentially an icon that overlaps, not replaces, other stuff on the taskbar.
- In my screenshot, I moved/expanded it so it covered the Volume and Battery icons.
- I'm not sure if it works on the HD2 (getting it in 4 days), this is a screenshot of my X1.
- Switching from Portrait > Landscape and vice-versa, there will be a small delay before the battery location moves to the right place. Very minor inconvenience though.
- No system hog as far as I can see. Battery usage with and without the same.
just tried it on the Leo. Works perfectly thanks for the tip btyeh.
Thanks for the tip. Though I cannot find how to configure the app, and by default it looks really bad and it is not placed properly.
I would prefer a totally different solution than this, but I guess it is pretty hard?

Touch and hold the icon to go into the setup menu.
Thanks, configured it in the best way possible for the HD2. Still not loving it, I can't make it any smaller (less wide) than this, and in some windows the new icon is a little slow to catch up. It's a nice try, but definately not the ultimate solution for me. Deinstalling...
One screenshot showing it on Sense, the other one showing in Resco Explorer with the X in the cornor.

You mean something like this?
It is an application though.
kBattery v1.1.9 Freeware
Click to collapse
Thanks for the tip. I've tried it for a day and I like a lot the way it looks. Unfortunately it makes the animations in Sense stutter a little bit. Take a look at the clouds on the today screen and notice how they stutter. When exiting kBattery the lagging disappears.
Too bad... the search continues.
I downloaded kBattery v1.0.3 at http://sourceforge.net/projects/kbattery/ and now the stuttering is gone. Unfortunately I can't change the position of it. Maybe there's a version between 1.0.3 and 1.1.9 that can move the clock/battery and that doesn't have the stuttering. Unfortunately I haven't been able to find such a version yet.
UPDATE: I managed to change the position of the clock/battery icon on v1.0.3 by changing HKCU->Software->kuchin->KBattery->Position to 450
Now it looks perfect and the stuttering in Sense is gone... BUT in landscape the icon is in the middle in the taskbar. I think it's placing the icons based on pixels from the left edge of the screen instead of from the right side. Since kbattery 1.0.3 is open source my only hope is that someone who knows how to can change the source code so that it calculates the position from the right edge of the screen.
How can I take a screen dump of how nice it looks in portrait mode? (I'm still new to WM, have only had it for less than a week)
Source code is available here by the way ;-) http://sourceforge.net/projects/kbattery/files/Source/KBattery 1.0.3/
I have been using Ariel Battery. Sorry can't remember the link. It only displays the battery. It's ok but is a bit slow sometimes when updating the background, ie. sometimes when you move from a solid background to a transparent background, the background of the clock is still a solid color. Would still really like a more native solution
BattClock
Recently I made a stripped down version of the BattClock of TouchLockPro and StylusLock, for people not needing my locking solution. See www.zuinigerijder.com and XDA-developers thread
