My iGo8 experience and config - XPERIA X1 General

** Don't ask/pm me for files or where to d/l **
Since someone PM me for iGO 8 config, I just share my exp & config in case anyone find it useful.
**TTS is very sensitive to Virtual Memory. (Please noted it's not the available memory you see at Settings > memory. So you may see 90mb+ available memory there but still not able to get TTS) and resource at IGO "startup" time (but doesn't matter after it started and working).
1. Make sure the rom use the slots wisely and give you enough VM (22mb+), U should ask your cook for detail.
2. Make sure you don't have **** load of craps at startup (/Windows/startup. HKLM/init, HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\HTC\BootLauncher, etc)
3. Make a full backup and disable unnecessary services/devices with Dotfred task manager. Personally, I don't need USSD, IPV6, Ipsec, ...etc)
4. Soft-reset maybe a good idea if you already run X1 for a long time.
5. "No Today Plugin" w/ AE Button Plus is very handy to deactivate/activate TF3D and free up some resource. There are mortscript to automate this in some thread.
My Steps:
1. optional: start BT and connect your A2DP audio system (JVC BT-1 in my case) in case you want the TTS and phone call goes to yr audio system.
2. run Igo8
3. After Igo8 is started and TTS is working. Minimize Igo8 by "End Call" button. Then start your fav music program (Core Player 1.24 in my case).
4. run Igo8 again to bring up iGO8 from minimize. And my music play (Play/pause/FF/RW) is controlled by AVRCP
My current config: X1i/a running my custom 3.2Full ML rom
iGO8: 8.3.2.90500(PNA version, the ONLY version works for both PDA contact and TTS).
Skin: Trimmed (since I don't need squared screen suppport) & modified (laneinfo_signpost.ini for bigger freeway sign post) v10 from LZF.
My sys.txt
Code:
[project]
;No need the name for the latest version

[tts]
;tts_buffer=65536 ; this could be important for preventing voice interruption
priority="HIGH"

Thanks for sharing this, I can do it myself but I'm sure it helps a lot of people.
However I'm concerned about the eprformance, so here are two suggestions:
1) set this
Code:
enable_3D_buildings=0
instead of enable_3D_buildings=1 , to disable 3d buildings since it's slow.
2) use speedbooster 2.0, and increase the priority of iGo8.exe . It seems to load maps and search faster and the interface drawing is smoother.

Very nice iGo8 config. Thanks for that.
Btw is there any way to keep the current map zoom when locating my GPS position. I mean when I scroll and zoom, and than I want to find my current GPS position, click on the button for that, I loose my current zoom, and go to a much lower one, where I can't see the streets.
Anyone any idea?

check in Igo/IGO8/CONTENT/LANG if you have any files in there.

Miomap / iGo 2008

I am just wondering if anyone has had any luck running either of these GPS Map Guiding applications. I have tried both and they run ok, but due to a high lack in ROM, it freezes 75% percent of the time. Especially during route recalculation. I have done everything possible to maximize RAM for it, but no luck. Just want to know if anyone is running either smoothly and what do you do to get it to run good.
Thanx
Bump
Bump? Please?
i am runnin the MioMap V.3 on my mogul and its running fine with the htc 3.35 rom.
Thanx
I actually have Miomap ver 3.3 and am running it on DCD 3.0.4 with the latest radio 3.42. It freezes so many time and keeps complaining of low memory

Any Help
Some people have success with iGo 2008 on the Mogul, so please how do I do to get this to run on mine please. It eats up RAM like it's candy. It freezes all the time.
more
My MioMap V.3 on my mogul used to run just fine with the htc 3.35 rom. But with the newer rom 3.56, it couldn't find the gps and freezes whenever I try to specify the settings. IGo8 has the same problem. Tomtom/garmin work well though. Anyone know what is the potential problem? Thanks.
Thanx
Well, in as much as this thread has little response, thanx for your input though. In my case, its just the RAM, it freezes even before the program loads. Even if it is the first program I start after soft resetting it. iGO 8 and MioMap 3, all the same.

hey Damionix, did you fix that problem? I too have the same problem. There must be some wrong settings or missing settings that we have to add maybe to sys.txt file or something. Also everytime i install igo8 runs nice but when i change gps port to 4, ram usage skyrockets and now i cant even get to the main screen(it stuck at "STARTING"). I also disabled aGps in the registry but to no avail.
o and im using dcd 3.2.2 rom
I have IGO8, Tom Tom7 and Garmin XT running with very large maps on my Titan and they all run fine. I am using the latest (June) release of the 3.56.xx Rom
Only other program I have running in the background is SPB Mobile with greatbal's gsmart theme.
I have heard loading all the USA maps for IGO8 at the same time may bog down your ram from the POI build - so I limited to just about 8 contiguous states for me, I'll add more if I go outside that limit. For Tom Tom I have the 2 GB North America map and for Garmin XT I have the following combined into one map - the full NT 2009 North America, a couple of state topo maps and the Gulf of Mexico Blue water map.
I'm using an SDHC 8gig card - thats where I loaded all the programs - I have used Mio Map 3.3 but deleted it for IGO8
Mule
im using the latest rom from sprint 3.56 on HTC mogul
to run igo 8 i have to disable all my today screen items. except battery status as that is how i check how much ram i have left and i use the little operator button to link to the task manager
anyways after i disable all my today screens items and do a soft reset, i have about 24mb ram free. and i even uninstalled s2u2 cause i didnt want to have to close it all the time just to use my gps hehe
igo 8 starts up just fine. no lag.. if i minimize, i see that i have about 8mb free.. untill i start using the map then itll drop down to about 1.5mb-3.0mb free. basicly i cannot open any other programs or it will freeze. altho i am using GPSgate(do a search here) to get igo to even see my gps, that program only uses about .4 mb ram
ive only had it freeze before i figured out i needed GPSgate and when i get a phone call.. i was still able to talk but it froze igo8 and had to do a soft reset after the conversation.
i had 1 low memory warning and it was before i found GPSgate and activesync was running
im also using this tip http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=405137
i also set all my 3d settings to off or low

how did you make your Mogul detect the GPS on Miomap.. mine keeps on searching for comm ports w/o any success.
Can you please post the manual GPS configuration?
any tips on this will be gratefully appreciated.
I use the June 24th release of iGO8. It works pretty well for me even with TTS!
Here is what worked for me....
First I set up WM to have the max free RAM that I could. Im not even going to get into that but lets just say you want at least 22MB free to launch IGO and have it work decently. If you can get to 25-26MB free you can even use the TTS feature pretty well.
Here is what I did to iGO. I run it with all 50 states in the USA and all the buildings and terrain.
First install it on your storage card.
then go to iGO8 on your storage card and...
-delete branding.zip
-copy data.zip to your pc unzip it and delete every resolution you do not use in ui_igo8. you should be left with 240_320 or 320_240 depending on how you want to run it. keep both if you will be switching between portrait and landscape (but its best to choose one and delete all of the rest). Now take your modified data folder and rezip it with no compression naming it data.zip. Back up your original data.zip and move the new one back on to the storage card.
-delete tahoma.ttf and tohamabd.ttf and replace them with the same fonts from \windows.
-delete all the voices you will not use from \iGO8\content\voice and \iGO8\tts_loq if you are using TTS
-now edit your sys.txt file ...for portrait mode your file to look like this:

driver="TAPI"

adjust the max_memory setting under [debug] to be about 2 under your available memory when you plan on launching iGO
so if you run it with 23MB free typically it should be

[Updated November 09] Route Tracker

Route Tracker
With Route Tracker you can create routes and add several route points containing text and/or images from your current position. If gps is available it will take the current longitude, latitude and altitude. Without a gps module information of the current cell id and the location area code are saved.
For each route a report can be created which can be saved as a html file.
prerequisites:
PocketPC with .net compact framework 2.0 and SQL Compact Server 2005 (already installed in WM6 professional)
(tested on a WM6 professional device without gps)
known issues:
after uninstall the db and the images will not be deleted
getting MyLocation can time out
timer greater than ~15 seconds doesn't word when device is in suspend mode
in the view form only the map type for default route maps is working
next features:
automatic point adding by distance (every x meters)
more robust MyLocation
geo game (show taken image and try to find the place on the map)
Any comments are appreciated.
version 1.0.5
new view showing the whole route in one image using Google Maps (markers or path)
this view can be saved to an image file
check its settings form for parameters
version 1.0.4
new setting: Use Google's MyLocation for report GMaps and for exporting to kml. On devices without gps the cell id information will be used to get an approximate location. (default on and will use internet connection!)
version 1.0.3
new report "GMaps" using google maps (will try to use internet connection!)
updated date set to last saved route point
additional setting: Flash on Saving (flash on main screen)
version 1.0.2
additional settings: check gps, vibrate on saving
saving settings: seconds, minutes and vibrate on saving
show time with date in the grid
version 1.0.1
A report can be saved to kml for viewing in google maps.
In Menu/Auto Report... timed saving can be activated.
Thanks,
heliosdev
Anybody tried?
Would be interesting to know if the gps information gets stored and if there are any issues on devices with qwerty hardware keyboard (regarding screen rotation).
Thanks!
New version is up. If you have difficulties with the gps data, try to start gps with another app and after having enough sat fixes try Route Tracker.
Nice now this app work, but here some ideas:
A Sign that shows a record was made
Start Time on the main screen
Show Cell ID or GPS is used
Other Ideas will follow
Thanks for the input! New version is up.

It works on my Diamond without any problem.
Great but here some Ideas:
Show the last position time in the grid (Last position time saved at
Vibrate is good, but better would it if you make a flashing dot on the main screen because if you use it in a carholder its not so go.
(Or you can add vibrate too under settings)
And Upload direct the cab file, its easier to use!
Thx and work on!
didn't work on my vogue - got a net framework error.

thanks for your input!

okay, here's the message I get when trying to run RouteTracker (which does not open at all):
Error

Well, it looks like sql is not installed on your device! I've seen cooked roms which removed this to save some space...

I'm using the ppckitchen to cook a custom rom and have included both sql, 3.5 supposed to be included and I also select .netcf 2. Maybe that's a problem, but I've not ever gotten that message with any of the other programs I use that require .netcf. When I run /Windows/cgacutil.exe it says 2.0.7045.0
Will this work with .NET 3.5 or only 2.0?
I get this error using the ROM in my sig and SQLce 3.5 added.
Code:
An unexpected error has occurred in RouteTracker.exe.
Select Quit and then restart this program, or select Details for more information.
File or assembly name 'System.Data.SqlServerCe, Version=3.0.3600.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=3BE235DF1C8D2AD3', or one of its dependencies, was not found.
Here a new Idea
Make a Today Plugin that shows CELL ID, LAC, MCC, MNC or GPS and a count down. It shows new recorde made in xx.xx.xx (ex. 00:00:10 = 10 sek.)
Well, I'm using C# .net and I'm not sure if this can be used for today plugin development.
Btw, new version is up!
new version is up!
Tests with devices without gps are appreciated! (internet connection needed)
(report GMaps and save report (in Report form) to kml and view it with google maps/earth on desktop)
Nice,
works fine!
But can you set a dot on mylocation?
Like here http://cellid.schlapa.net
Also show the cellID data on the Gmaps Screen.
Thx wait for next versions ...

Hi thanks for this app!!!!
Is it possible to get bigger screen shots ?
Thanks dude

NaviPanel customize?

Is possible to customize the buttons function of navipanel, to point to another application for navigation?
Or to change the application that popup on carkit mode to another than navipanel?
Don't know an answer to your question yet, but i have problems using the navipanel button to start my TomTom. It locks up TomTom many times.
TomTom does work ok if I start it only using the hardware button above the green horn hardware button.
Anny suggestions how to fix / update the navipanel software?
Same question to launch Igo8 directly from the Navipanel, but also to link it to footprint.
Good to have our own forum
Let see from this topic and for tomtom
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=3359078&postcount=5786
use Reg Editor
1. Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\HTC\NaviSW and add new string value
Value name: MiddleLayerDLL
Value data: NaviSWMiddle_TomTom.dll
2. Put a file "NaviSWMiddle_TomTom.dll" in the Windows folder. The file should be available somewhere in the forum (EDIT : for 4 navigators, see next post, they are already in the windows folder).
3. Soft Reset
I haven't tried myself. Hope this willl help.
Kind of the same question : how do we change the bottom left button of the iolite so it can launch another GPS software ?
And how this help to change the navigation software? I already have this key in registry.
But how to edit to run another navigation program, other than tomtom(igo, miomap,destinator...)?
EDIT:
In windows dir there are 4 different NaviSWMiddle.dll, for TomTom, Papago, Navitel andCoPilot. So I think
that we must find a dll for the navigation program that we want to run instead and change the registry key to
that. The problem is that neather of the existing dlls is for programs that I want to use. So how can we make this dlls?
We have lost time with this.
Nothing of this solve any problem in this thread.
Please don't post anything if this don't solve anything.
Our forum maybe one day will be great, but meanwhile.......
so anyone have the answer fo this ?, seems that this issue have been idle for quite a while now

You can have Garmin Maps on Navitel !
Download Navitel cab from www.gpsmoldova.com/navitel/indexen.html
then add Garmin Maps
You need first to fix NavPanel i setting to recognize NaviTel ....
Cheers
bmomail, You mis understand
I want to use NaviPanel with Garmin XT. but program default are papago x3

Add Garmin
My friend
1-Install Garmin
2- go to Reg editor
do this :
Value name: MiddleLayerDLL
Value data: NaviSWMiddle
3- Soft Rest
4- go to setting - Personal - Buttons - Choose (Button 2) option and add google map or Garmin
Hey folks!
If I start NaviPanel and press the lower right button "navigation" - then the wrong version of TomTom starts (looks like ver. 6). It tells me "no cards found" and ends.
I have TomTom 7 installed and it works great, if I start it via the Windows start menue.
Also if I start the tomtom.exe directly from the explorer, TomTom 7 also works as expected.
But how can I tell the NaviPanel to start the right TomTom.exe?
Greetinx
Woko
[EDIT]:
The NaviPanel is controlled by the "NaviSWMiddle_TomTom.dll". Maybe there is an new version of it for TomTom 7?
My is created 22. january 2009 and has a size of 56,9 KB. There is no version info contained in the dll (yes - who needs version infos.... :-/ )
How Can I Choose (Button 2 ) I'm not see it.
Thank

I got it to launch Garmin, have not had time to dig deeper to get it to launch the other apps directly within Navipanel. Try the below...

I join to this question. Who has original NaviSWMiddle_TomTom.dll and can post it here?
NaviSWMiddle_TomTom.dll
Hi guys,
The file "NaviSWMiddle_TomTom.dll" is located in the Windows directory, but its hidden, you can't see it. If you install "Total Commandor" then you can brouws the Windows dir and check it. Anyway, there is no need to do this. But if you really need the file then be my guest, I attached it here.

Iolite - Apps you can't live without [Last Update 20.10.2009]

Notice:
All patching, registry modifying and other unusual changes are only on your own risk. Do not blame anybody, if anything goes wrong.
New apps and tweaks are continuously added as soon as I pick them, test them and like them . Also other users have different app recommendations in other posts so don't forget to read whole thread.
Last update: 20.10.2009 (new apps and post rearrangements)
Freeware|System Related:
[Added] Advanced Configuration Tool - You can change almost every setting with this powerful app. However, some options might not work at all. (thanks to Dair's findings).
Better Light Sensor Control - Basic backlight offer no settings at all. Look in given thread to find, how to improve it. (thanks to tomv_cz's findings).
Change HW buttons function - If you want to use footprint and navi buttons for something else.
Disable SMS threading - Annoyed of that default SMS threading? This is cure.
Enable portrait/landscape switch - It enables possibility to switch between portrait and landscape mode on Iolite (Start-Settings-System-Screen). Then you can also assign "rotate screen" to your footprint/navi button. But Manila2D doesn't support landscape, so every time you go to home screen, it turns back to portrait mode.
FDCsoft Task Manager - Really good task manager, process viewer, service enabler/disabler, registry editor...
GfxBoost v1.1 - Some steroids for your Iolite's graphics and animations. Don't ask me, how it works, but it really does. Look in given thread for more info.
Hide SIM contacts - It does, what it says.
Manila2D Customizer - Using Manila2D (TF2D) and want to customize it?
MoDaCo RemoveSecurity - Removes that annoying "unsigned" notification while installing CABs.
[Added] Mortscript - MortScript interprets a (quite) simple batch language. If you know .bat files in DOS or shell scripts: it's something like that. Its focus is to remote control or launch other applications, not to write real applications.
.NET Compact Framework - Needed for running apps.
[Added] PIM Backup - A totally must have app for ROM cookers and experimenters. (thanks to Lokatho's findings).
Total Commander - App you really can't live without on WM.
SDKcerts - SDK Cert is a certificate used by the developers or programmers to sign the file/s you're using to make it/them eligible to be installed on the device. It's just like a consent from the developers for their OEM softwares to their users. To make the device accepts the file/s, the SDKCert have to be installed on the device for key matching purposes.
xdaShutdown - Want to switch off, soft reset, sleep your device? .NET 3.5 needed
Weather patch for Manila2D (TF2D) - Want some city, which is not in the default list? Look here to add it and below this post for patcher. (Thanks to N2A for original patcher for HTChome.dll).
Freeware|Visual Enhancements:
FingerKeyb by Giannis86 - For me it is better keyboard than from HTC, because it doesn't have buttons on the edge of display.
FingerSuite - Big thumbs and small menus? Why don't have the menus same as in TF3D.
M2D App Launcher - If you hate standart program list, try this. Nicely fits M2D skin.
SEX Battery Enhancer - For exact status of your battery on taskbar (SDKcerts needed)
[Added] TapTap Keyboard - Totally different way, how to write. It is quite unusual way, but if you get used to it, you will write much faster and with less mistakes.
Freeware|Internet and Messaging:
Facebook App - Official release from MS.
MoDaCo NoData - Disables GPRS/EDGE/etc. connections.
Skype for mobile - Skype for mobile devices. WiFi/3G needed for good connection.
Slick - IM with ICQ, Yahoo, AIM, MSN, Google, Jabber support. Really fast one.
Freeware|Multimedia:
[Added] Microfi Nitrogen - Very nice opensource touch-friendely music player with sleep timer and - unlike the one from HTC - sensitive volume control. (thanks to Dair's findings)
[Added] PlayPause - Control your favourite player via your headset button.
TCPMP 0.72 rc1 recompiled - If you want really good free multimedia player with subtitle support (you MUST use GDI for external subtitles). Look below for archive.
Freeware|Other Apps:
[Added] Marathon - GPS measure/tracking app.
mBarvian HTC Calculator - For me, better that included one.
[Added] MyMobiler - You can fully control your Iolite via PC. Executed on PC.
QuickMark 2D barcode reader - QR code reader. You must register to grab it.
Stopwatch - If you have need to measure your time .
Shareware|Unsorted (Please, buy these apps if you use them):
Core Player - Younger brother to TCPMP. However paid one.
CT Scheduler - Want to send messages at given time? Enable/disable BT, ActiveSync? This is what you need.
ilium software eWallet - If you have bad memory for all your passwords.
[Added] Manbolo Meon - Totally addictive brain game. Not expensive at all.
SBSH PhoneWeaver - Profile manager. Not free but good one. Includes touch profile switcher, which can be configured to soft buttons on Home tab in TF2D via M2DC.
[Added] SPB Minesweeper II - Was finding of mines your childhood dream? Well, this is far more safe way .
SPB Wireless Monitor - Monitors connections ifrom your device to the world.
[Added] WebCamera Plus - Your Iolite as webcam? Not a bad idea, isn't it.
Do you know some really good app, you can't live without? Just post your list in this thread.
Great topic! Just what I was looking for!
Thank you
Thanks for the post. Any advice on a good GPS program? I also heard there was freeware that auto rotates your keyboard/screen from portrait -> landscape when turned, as currently the keyboard doesn't do landscape?

That's why I made it . When i bought my first WM device Vox, this kind of topic helped me a lot. So I made it for Iolite too.

It depends, for what you want GPS. If for car navigation, you may use builtin TomTom and buy maps. For hiking is best Garmin with its Topo maps. For geocaching exists many free programs where you can add your own maps (just search for geocaching here).
With screen rotation there is one flaw. Manila2D didn't support landscape, so every time you exit to home screen, it turns back to portrait mode. And Iolite doesn't have G-Sensor, therefore it will not rotate automatically.
Hey, nice list! I use lot of these too. I'd add three more apps for myself:
Advanced Config Tool - great utility for tweaking WM and HTC soft without need to edit registry manually (can handle some tweaks mentioned in 1st post like landscape mode, switching threaded SMS view, hiding SIM contacts etc)
GPS Cycle Computer - does what it says and more... Possibility to show a map image on background or to use OpenStreeMap tiles (read readme in installation folder). The best feature for me is the option to set the GPS run interval from "always on" to "run every 10 min" - great for power-savy logging my track and matching the GPS data with photos later.
Nitrogen player - very nice opensource touch-friendely music player (with sleep timer and - unlike the one from HTC - sensitive volume control)
EDIT: forgotten to mention that all of them are free
Can anyone make this thread sticky and delete the "thank you posts" as well as this one?
Thank you
PIM Backup - Great backup tool for us flashaholics
so far there is nothing to flash on the iolite
Thanks a lot for the great share
Weather is broken
The N2A Weather Patcher killed the Weather applet on my Iolite.
Now all it says is , "Cannot get weather data for the selected city".
I can't select any other city or anything else, since the menus are disabled
Before patching I made a backup of my Manila2D.exe, wich I have allready restored.
But Weatheer still dossen't work
Any workaround to restore to original?
Qtek8020User: I modified original N2A patcher to patch manila2D.exe, because original version patched htchome.dll only. Here is procedure, how to do that.
1) On device, I copy Manila2D.exe to some other folder (eg. Storage Card)
2) Download it to computer via AS/WMDC
3) Keep one copy somewhere for backup, place another one into patcher folder in same place as place_manila_2d_exe_here.txt and run n2a-patcher.bat
4) Patcher will make N2A Patched Manila2D EXE.cab file, which you transfer to device.
5) Disable Manila2D via settings, install CAB and then enable Manila2D again.
At this moment, only thing which is changed in Manila2D.exe is http address of update server, nothing else. Therefore it must work for already present cities in list, when internet connection is available (via AS/WMDC, Wifi or GPRS/EDGE/etc.). I tried this by myself about five times, so this procedure works with no problem at all.
If you want to add some city, which is NOT in the list, you must do this:
1) On device, copy HH_0409_WeatherCities.xml from /windows folder on your device to some other folder (eg. Storage Card)
2) Download it to your computer via AS/WMDC. Make backup of that file.
3) Go to accuweather.com and find city you want to add. For example, I want to add city "hradec kralove" in "czech republic". I get this code
Code:
http://www.accuweather.com/world-index-forecast.asp?partner=accuweather&locCode=EUR|CZ|EZ002|HRADEC%20KRALOVE|&u=1
. Important part is "EUR|CZ|EZ002|HRADEC%20KRALOVE" (%20 means simple space).
4) Open HH_0409_WeatherCities.xml and add this line <city name="Your City Name, Country Abbreviation" loca="CodeYouGotFromAccuweather" land="Your Country"/>. For example
<city name="Hradec Kralove, CZ" loca="EUR|CZ|EZ002|HRADEC KRALOVE" land="Czech Republic"/>.
5) Save HH_0409_WeatherCities.xml as UTF-8. It is read-only by default, so make proper changes.
6) Transfer it back to your device, eg. to Storage Card. Then put it back to /Windows folder
7) Restart Manila2D and viola, your custom city is in list and will be properly updated.
For adding cities in HH_0409_WeatherCities.xml also exists some app, but I can't remember how it is called.
torrentonly,
Great post, thank you!! Bat you mentioned about n2a-patcher.bat

OK! It's my bad... Thank you again!
Hi, torrentonly
I followed your method but it won't work. I assume that it something wrong within script... In tool folder unpatched.dll file doesn't exist. Here is output from n2a-patcher.bat (I did everything according to your instruction...)

If you have already patched Manila2D.exe, may be you can share it...
igor7: That's weird. I just tested it now and it works for me. From your log it looks like Manila2D.exe didn't copied into /tools/ subfolder. Did you extract ZIP archive correctly?
If yes, try to copy Manila2D.exe to /tools/ and rename it to unpatched.dll, so you wil have /tools/unpatched.dll. Then delete this lines from BAT file:
Code:
IF EXIST tools\unpatched.dll del tools\unpatched.dll
copy Manila2D.exe tools\unpatched.dll > NUL
IF EXIST *.cab del *.cab
, save it and run BAT again.
I can give you my patched Manila2D, but you might have different version and it can make you some troubles.
torrentonly: first of all big thanks for you help. I spend time on this, but it working now and I want share my experience.
1. In you first post on this page doesn't mention that Manila2D.exe should be copied into N2A-Patcher-Manila2D\tools folder and renamed to unpatched.exe, as you mentioned in your last post. By the same token it's not enough. By default Manila2D.exe have read only and system attributes, so no changes can be made to this file under this condition. Those attributes should be removed before running n2a-patcher.bat file, otherwise it not working.
2. And in additional, as you mentioned in your last post some lines should be removed from n2a-patcher.bat file. To be honest, I don't know how it works for you without doing this...
This line form script:
Code:
copy Manila2D.exe tools\unpatched.dll > NUL
can't work because it is impossible to copy file and rename it with same command "copy". In my case script return following error while it running:
Code:
Could Not Find C:\Documents and Settings\Igor\Desktop\N2A-Patcher-Manila2D\tools\unpatched.dll
The system cannot find the file specified.
Performing patch...
This happen even I copied Manila2D.exe into tools folder, renamed it to unpatched.dll, and removed read only and system attributes...
In the light of the aforesaid I did some corrections (improvments) to n2a-patcher.bat and now it works fine. I added the following to htchomeok session in this file:
Code:
:htchomeok
attrib -r -s Manila2D.exe
xcopy /h /k /f /v Manila2D.exe C:\N2A-Patcher-Manila2D\tools
attrib +r +s Manila2D.exe
cd C:\N2A-Patcher-Manila2D\tools
ren Manila2D.exe unpatched.dll
Now, to get it work you need to change a little procidure, in your first post in this page.
1. Download N2A-Patcher-Manila2D.zip file and extract it content to root of C drive on you computer. Should be like: C:\N2A-Patcher-Manila2D.
2. Copy Manila2D.exe from Windows folder of your device into C:\N2A-Patcher-Manila2D folder using Active Synch.
3. Run n2a-patcher.bat file. If everything is OK you should see script window like this:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",
"lightbox_stop_slideshow": "Stop slideshow",
"lightbox_full_screen": "Full screen",
"lightbox_thumbnails": "Thumbnails",
"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
Also I attached to this message new archive with corrected script.
Best regards,
Igor.
igor7: Nice finding *THUMBS UP*. On my laptop with Vista x86, I can copy and rename at the same time. Therefore script I attached is working for me. Maybe it is different for another OS like 2k, XP. Or maybe there are some problems with attributes.
You don't need to place Manila2D.exe into /tools/ folder and rename it. BAT file should make it automatically, but as I wrote, it might work different way on different OSs.
torrentonly: I tried to run n2a-patcher.bat from first thread in this forum on my laptop with Vista x86 and it doesn’t work... On Windows XP and Windows Vista bat files executed line by line. So if some line had errors script will not work.
Here what I did:
1 I downloaded N2A-Patcher-Manila2D.zip (1.23 MB, 66 views) and extract it on desktop of my laptop.
2. I copied Manila2D.exe from Iolite and place it into patcher folder in same place as "place_manila_2d_exe_here.txt". Then I executed n2a-patcher.bat. And...It not work! Here is screenshot:
I wrote all of this not for something... May be code in script, that you used is different from this one... It can confuse other people.

HOW-TO: iGO8 on TP2 with TTS and Imported Contact POI's

In order to have both TTS and Contact POI's working in iGO8 you're going to need two different versions of iGO8.
FIRST VERSION NEEDED: iGO8 v8.32.64029 (Nov 7 2008)
This version is designed for the PDA, and as such is able to geocode contact information. Install this version with the attached 64029sys.txt
At this point if everything is done correctly, iGO8 should boot normally BUT be VERY slow and unresponsive. This is GOOD! This is iGO8 Geocoding your contacts. Depending on the quantity of contacts with addresses you have, this could take a VERY long time. When it is done you will get a message similar to the following:
Geocoding finished with errors. 38 of 110 addresses found, 72 failed. Do you want to see the details?
At this point you could see the details of the errors, which will show you all of the addresses that are not entered into Outlook in a iGO8 palatable way. You could just ignore them and be happy with what you have (unlikely), or go back into Outlook, correct the formatting errors, and try again (and continue your suffering).
This can be VERY tedious... iGO is one picky bastard. You might even have to input the addresses into iGO as destinations, see how iGO formats the addresses, and then change the Outlook contacts to match the format iGO uses for a particular address.
I have even heard that contact need to be deleted and reentered into Outlook in the proper iGO8 fashion or you will continue to get errors for particular contacts.
SYNTAX ADVICE:
not Blvd. --> Blvd (The little "." will throw an error every time)
not Blvd --> Boulevard ("Usually" iGO dislikes abbreviations)
not N. --> N --> North (This is hit or miss)
NEVER use apt# (just give up and don't try)
NO Suite # (same as above)
If you have to have apt or suite #'s AND you want iGO to geocode, then the only way to get it both ways is to use the "OTHER" address in Outlook to place the iGO friendly address and the correct address in the "Business" or "Home" Outlook address. The ones with apt or suite # will error, but the second addresses in the "Other" address without the apt or suite # will geocode as POI's fine.
When you are done, you will be left with this little piece of GOLD... YOUR CONTACT POI's FILE ! ! !
\iGO8\save\gccache.dat
You'll want to back this file up somewhere else for safe keeping. We don't want all this hard work to go to waste.
SECOND VERSION NEEDED: iGO8_v8.3.4.102680 (Aug 13 2009)
This is the newest PNA version that does not have the ability to geopcode contact POI's, but it is able to read the gccache.dat file created by the PDA version above AND it is capable of TTS. Install this version with the attached 102680sys.txt
You will need to install this version and simply place the gccache.dat into the iGO/save folder and iGO will do the rest for you.
Now getting iGO8 to reliably run TTS is a different story. TTS requires ALOT of RAM to run. If there is not enough RAM available (~115-120mb), then it will simply refuse to play TTS voice prompts and you will be stuck with standard voice prompts. To free up a good chunk of the necessary RAM install both NOPushInternet_v2.cab and SSK TP2 Dynamic Resource Proxy.cab. To get the rest your available RAM to acceptable levels you will need to disable TF3D, run CleanRAM, and then start iGO.
Sounds complicated? Well, fortunately itsachirpthing over at PPCGeeks has created a nice little script that does just this. The original post can be found HERE. And the original thread can be found HERE. I recommend reading both these original threads. They have additional information to get iGO8 working properly on TP2.
itsachirpthing @ PPCGeeks said:
I have a custom mort script that will turn off TF3D, run CleanRam (I have custom process enabled to exit Opera and Tmail within CleanRam), then run Igo8. Once you are finished with Igo and you exit, TF3D will restart. This took some testing, but this works everytime with the high quality TTS voices. I have had no issues. I have posted the code below, this will work on your device providing that you install CleanRam to your "device" and your IGo program is listed as "\storage card\iGO8\igo8.exe". These HQ TTS voice issues baffled me for months, but now they work consistently without a soft reset.
Again this code will stop TF3D, Run CleanRam, Start Igo... then when you exit iGo it will restart TF3D.
manilastate=ProcExists("manila.exe")
If (manilastate)
Kill("biotouch.exe")
RegWriteDword ("HKLM","Software\Microsoft\Today\Items\TouchFLO 3D","Enabled",0)
RedrawToday
endif
RunWait("\program files\htcaddicts cleanram\htcaddicts_cleanram.exe")
RunWait("\storage card\iGO8\igo8.exe")
Sleep(5000)
Kill("Repllog.exe")
While ( ProcExists("igo8.exe") )
IdleTimerReset
Sleep(500)
EndWhile
If (manilastate)
RegWriteDword ("HKLM","Software\Microsoft\Today\Items\TouchFLO 3D","Enabled",1)
RedrawToday
Run("\windows\biotouch.exe")
endif
I have attached the script to run with mort script. I hope others can benfit as well. Good luck and enjoy!
Click to collapse
I have added this iGO script to the MortScript.cab posted here. You need it and CleanRAM.cab. Install both to the device, not the SD Card. Then just click on the Plain iGO Scipt icon in the Start Menu. The script will close TF3D, run CleanRAm, start iGO8, and when iGO8 is exited, it will start TF3D again
Inaddition to the above Script, you will need to install both NOPushInternet_v2.cab AND SSK TP2 Dynamic Resource Proxy.cab
in order to free up enough RAM. But with the above script, CleanRAM, and these two cabs, you should have enough RAM to run TTS of TP2. These CAB's are attached.
The sys.txt files attached are what works for my ATT TP2. It took many hours to find the correct setting for each iGO8 version and I am providing them to make your process easier. If they don't work or you get some other error for what ever reason... I AM PROVIDING NO TECH SUPPORT. This is simply information for your use.
Good Luck!
PS. This works best if you have two micro SD cards. One for each version of iGO. That way if you add new contact address, you can simply pop out one card, geocode the data, and transfer the new gccache.dat file to the other card.
PPS. Once you do get everything working in iGO 8 properly.... DO NOT MESS WITH ANYTHING ANYMORE!!! iGO8 is one finicky bastard and will throw a TTS temper tantrum (refuse to load TTS) if you do... I know ALL TOO WELL!
DONT ASK ME FOR COPIES OR WHERE TO GET THE ABOVE PROGRAMS....
BUY THEM or USE SOME CREATIVITY.... like GOOGLE!
Hi:
Thanks for the great info. I have a few questions. The Mortscript seems to run clean RAM, and disable TF3D, but then TF3D starts back up on its own. Is this normal?
Also, is the script supposed to also start iGo, or must this be done manually; script did not start iGo for me.
Thanks again!!
The script is as written above. If the location of iGO8.exe is not where the script is pointed you 'll have issues.
RunWait("\storage card\iGO8\igo8.exe")
If you do not have a iGO8.exe in the above folder, you'll need to just make a second copy of application.dat in the same folder and rename it iGO8.exe. They are the same file, just different names.
Hi:
Thanks so much for your help. You were absolutely right, my .exe was in Storage Card/Program Files.
It is working well now.
Unfortunately it didn't make TTS work for me, but I have had problems with it for a LONG time, and never been able to find a fix.
Thanks anyway for everything

Were you using the above mentioned iGO versions? If not... I wouldn't know.

To get your available RAM to acceptable levels you will need to disable TF3D, run CleanRAM, and then start iGO.
Sounds complicated? Well, fortunately itsachirpthing over at PPCGeeks has created a nice little script that does just this. The original post can be found HERE. And the original thread can be found HERE. I recommend reading both these original threads. They have additional information to get iGO8 working properly on TP2.

Your welcome. I am glad my searching, suffering, trial and error have been helpful to others. I felt it would have been a waste of effort, if only my phone was to benefit from the knowledge.
Added both NOPushInternet_v2 and SSK TP2 Dynamic Resource Proxy CAB's...
Need for maximum available free RAM.

Hi:
Yes I am using the above mentioned Aug 13th version, but to be honest I have had this same problem since I switches to the R3 versions. Oddly enough, I only get TTS from "Amy", which isn't even a TTS voice, but her voice is limited, and doesn't include things like street names etc... When I try to use "Susan" or "Dave" which are TTS voices, they do not work at all. I have tried a million different TTS packages, as well as sys.txt edits, and still no luck.
I have searched and searched and never been able to fix it.
But anyway, thanks so much for posting your info, I am sure it will help others.

I recommend reading the threads on PPCGeeks. You might need their recommended BRANDING.ZIP and DATA.ZIP files.
I know it is a pain in the ass... but it can work
but then again it can also stop working right after
Good Luck!
Lokmeup, thanks for the post. I found this by googling Igo8 and contacts... I'm running iGo8 (the most recent pna version) on my Imagio and of course it won't input the contacts.
I plan on following your directions but was wondering if I'll need to keep both versions available and run the PDA version every time I enter a new contact as the PNA version won't import contacts?
I miss the 'navigate to contact' from Tomtom but Tomtom doesn't seem to like the Imagio as it lags out while iGo8 runs fine.
Thanks in advance!

Thanks and DOH! Didn't see that part about the other card. The damn SD card on the Imagio is behind the back cover and the cover is a beast to remove. I'll try to keep one internal and one external and see if that works. Thanks again!
Update: iGO 8 v8.3.2.97313 (Jul 3 2009) also works for geocoding. You can have one in main memory and one on your SD card and the one in main memory will geocode for the one on the card.
Thanks again Lokmeup, you gave me back the one function iGO was missing over TT!
Not to be a nay sayer, but why in the world do you need to jump through all these hoops to get TTS to work? My TTS works fine on 102680 with Igo as installed, I'm using the Energy 6.5.1 ROM but it's worked with every ROM I've tried it on?
For all of us obsessed with flashing, a lot of chefs are adding Sense instead of just TF3D. Sense will also cause TTS not to work. I have edited the mscr to disable HTC Sense before launching igo8 (and of course renenabling it upon exiting the program)
Two versions:
One that closes Sense then launches igo
The second closes sense, runs clean ram then launces igo
Personally i hate havng to confirm the cleanup, but your choice. Either one works out for me
IMPORTANT: RENAME file extention .txt -> .mscr (xda does not permit me to upoad mscr files)

Unless I'm really confused Energy ROM Phoenix has Sense in it, and it works fine with TTS on my phone without any scripts.

rename this file and just run it like the cab file I presume ??
Its working with the Sense file. I just went out and try it out. Would you be able to create a Sense file you created for igo mortcript and the htc addicts clean ram v1.8. ? I can see the other file as a shortcut in the start menu? Would you be able to create the same one for the sense version ?
Thanks.
