Whipped up a program here that should allow you to automatically dial from your GV number. The only catch is, I don't have my account switched over yet, so I cant try it myself. You need to install 1 file, then use the program to apply the Google Voice settings. If this program works, please let me know, as well as let me know the optimal values for pause1 and pause2 (will have to experiment a little). To then dial via GV, right click (click-hold) the person in the contacts list and select Dial with Calling Card.
For Windows Mobile Pro, version 5.0 or later
.net 2.0 or greater required

Install Instructions:
1. Install CAB
2. Apply Settings via GVD
3. Reboot
EDIT: It should be noted, pause 1 is the pause between the call and the auto-entering 2, pause 2 is the pause before entering the number. 0 will wait for the send key, and each number after that is aprx 2 seconds. So a 4 would be 8 seconds (4 *2).

I just upgrade my Grandcentral today..I'll give this a try and report back....Do I juss need to install the cab or also grab the exe?
edit: just read directions directly below lol I shall report back soon..so glad they added sms
doesn't seem to be work? I install the cab apply the settings (add my number and 1 for each of the other fields) and soft reset. use file explorer to open calling card folder and click on only icon (CallingCard.dll) avail I get the message: There is no application associated with "CallingCard". Run the application first, then open this file from within the application. any help? Something missing in the cab? though I'm far from the expert here
using Raph 800 stock rom if that helps any

To make calls you have to right click (click-hold) the person in your contacts menu. Think of this as an "extention" to your Contacts application.

The idea is, to make a call with your Google Voice showing in the caller ID, you gotta call GV first, then call out. This allows quick and easy integration.
Another note: If you had a plan from a certain carrier that allowed unlimited calling to one number, theoretically this would enable unlimited anytime calling, anywhere. Just throwing that out there...
I love the concept, but I'm not sure about the implementation. I don't use the default poutlook contacts app, I run pocket informant. Will this add the calling card menu there?
Any chance of making the calling card dial the default option, so that all calls (including calls dialed using the keypad, rather than contacts app) would route this way?
ETA: Just confirmed, this does not work with pocket informant.

The reason for doing this is to mainly test and see if this approach will work with Google Voice (cant try it myself yet, waiting for feedback). The implementation currently is, like you said, less than optimal, but was the quickest and easiest I could get. I didn't want to wrap up a lot of time if this dosen't work. Can you check, and if it does let me know the minimal values that work for the pauses? I intend to leave this option out on the future versions.

Sure, I'll just disable PI temporarily so I can use the default contacts app. Give me a few.
Ended up having to uninstall PI, I couldn't find the setting to change the shortcuts back to default with it still installed. Oh well.
Pause of 1 in both instances works fine, actually seems like it could be shorter, but of course 0 doesn't work that way.
You need to insert a # after the contact phone number is dialed. Right now it just sits there and I have to push # manually. (Or wait several seconds and then it goes through without the #)
The Touchtones when dialing the contact number are also probably a bit slower than necessary, but I'm not sure you can change that.
This program plus iDialer make a good combo for dialing out. GVD covers contact lists, and iDialer covers manual dialing.
oooohhh ok...so I just tried it and it calls sprint 411? - Scratch that had to input my number with the GVD tool again...

You put in your Google Voice number in the GVD tool?
When you try to make a call, what number shows up in the phone app as the number it's dialing?

it's showing my GV number now...sometimes it calls like it's checking my messages....and sometimes I can hear it get all the way to the prompt where its asking for the number to dial...then once it attempts to autodial it says the number is invalid....I think I need to play with the pause settings. ok while typing this I've had success...my settings were 1 then 2
1 and 1 worked smoothly for me on several tries. I wonder why 1 and 2 would be needed on yours, the 2nd pause really should be the same across all phones/networks I would think.
Did you press pound manually after the touch tones for the phone number were done?

As far as I know iDialer doesn't work with google voice (atleast version 0.42).
What do you mean by manual dialing? Do you mean dial GV number + 2 + and actual number?
Ok guys, still working on adding in the #, as well as some other modifications. It's kinda hard working blind, but I hope to have something new here soon. Its also kinda hard doing this coding in VB, when I've never really studied it at all. Language similarity ftw.

Just got my new Orange M3100 (Tytn) and I'm having problems with trying to forward incoming calls to another number. I have to divert and cancel divert often during the the working day and could do with a short cut to the settings call forwarding page. I don't seem to be able to make one... Could anyone advise...
Also trying to do similar with Bluetooth settings as I swap my BTheadset between phones just as frequently. I have found a link on this site to a utility to do that but not had chance to try it yet...
Can I just make a shortcut to that as well ??
Apart from that it appears a excellent device, running Tomtom etc without any problems....
Thanks in advance Phil
All the ways I tried to create such a shortcut do not work, because it requires an USSD "call". I asked WM5NewMenu author to implement USSD handling, will see...
For now the best solution I've found is to assigh speed dial keys in the dialer to USSD sequencies to divert and cancel diverts. It's OK for a while because speed dial keys can be easily accessed with one hand only (green phone button, then arrow left or down).
EDIT: In case you don't know USSD sequences... You'd better consult your operator to be sure. For me:
Divert all calls: **21*number_to_divert_to#
Cancel divert of all calls: ##21#
There are also codes for conditional diverting, of course.
Hi Phil,
What Lurker0 has mentioned is a good idea. You can save those strings as a number in a contact and maybe assign a speed dial or voice tag to that contact for speed? I guess one contact to enable and another to disable. The commands Lurker0 mentions are standard over all networks.
I'm not sure if there are ways to send AT commands to the modem in the TyTN (M3100) but it is another possible way to do it if someone knows how, if not then it might be useful info to someone else.
The AT command you need to send is AT+CCFC=1,1,<number>,128,1,,, this is the number in local format (no +44) like 07968xxxxxx to enable and AT+CCFC=1,0 to disable.
Gavin.
Phonealarm may be a simpler solution as I think u can add a forward number within a profile so just switching profile from the Today screen (phonealarm skin) would do the trick...
www.pocketmax.net
I've not had any dealing with the ATM commands so to be honest I wouldn't know were to start. I've just tried to install Phone alarm in my Orange SVP
M3100 but after asking me if I need and extra language the software just locks up.. Soft restart then required....
I managed to find the directory that it was installed in, the setup prog is there but I can't find the executable file, I guess that it has not got that far !!!!
Any help please...Phil
I'd suggest to try USSD codes as the easiest and 100% working solution.
Tried the ussd numbers in the contacts list.... works very well both divert and cancel divert... Just need to setup the speed dial now, were is that manual !!
Thanks again.
Phil-w
Hi Phil,
Go into the phone skin (green button) > Menu > Speed Dial...
That's you...
Gav.
Speed Dial is also at "green phone button" then arrow left, or arrow down, or wheel down. So one hand operation is possible.
Many thanks to you both... Nice to find helpfull people on here... Phil

Phil,
I do the same and installed the O2Plus (and patch) software which tweaks the today screen and gives direct access to mutiple profiles for different forwarding options - works really slickly.
Check this forum for the .cab files

i tried putting the codes in a speed dial but Tytn unhelpfully said i had to enter the sequences in from the phone pad directly. all i did was put the **21*<no># in as a speed dial. did i miss something somewhere?
If you are rooted, start a shortcut to "Activities". Scroll down to "Phone", expand that, then scroll down to "Call forwarding". Select! Easy peasy.
I put a phone number down in the notes of my appointment by mobile outlook, and when the reminder pops up, I just want to click and dial the number -- not select it, activate the dialer, then menu>paste and finally dial.
In my old blackberry, all I had to do was enter, 'tel:555-1212' and it would automatically convert it to a link -- click on it and the number was automatically dialed.
Is there an equivalent in WM5?
Also, I noticed that I can't just send ANOTHER text msg to someone in my sent box -- reply sends a message back to ME. Forward has me enter the previous number again. Am I missing something?
Interesting, a friend of mine and myself are also interested in this feature !

Tried it. Doesn't work on my phone. Is it supposed to?
Did you add a space or line feed/return after the telephone number? Mine doesn't create a link until one of those is entered.
That works, thou I thought about something else.
I'm using Pocketbreeze and what would be great would be to be able to call persons you added in the list of persons included "add person..."
like to be able to choose from a list when the notification appears.
Guess that's not possible atm
I think that that has been requested over at SBSH's forums but I don't remember if it was a planned addition or not. However, if Amit responded like he usually does, he will probably add it at some point if he can.
As far as PB, if you have PB set to show the note icon next to appts or tasks, you can tap on the note icon and it will open the preview window. Tap on the link and it will dial as well. No opening your PIM needed.
One other thing, you can also create a direct link to email as in the example below:
MailTo:[email protected]
Development of VoipCall has been stopped.
VoipCall 0.2.1
In the VoipSMS thread people started asking for a similar program for calling. So here it is
It's a first trial. If you've got some suggestions; let me know.
Requirements
You need the .NET Compact Framework 2.0 to run VoipCall.
Instructions
In order to use VoipCall, it's important to configure it first.
Go to options and set the following values on the first tab (Application Settings)
Pause sign: p (lowercase, this is default, however unlikely your phone might have a different sign)
Default country code: this is a digit code which will be used when no country code is set.. For The Netherlands it's 0031. For Germany 0049 etc.
Use '#' Sign: set to true. This will add an '#' sign to the end of the number to call. This is needed by VoipBuster.
Accounts (second tab)
Add a new account by tap and hold on the list of accounts. Enter a friendly name and the number.
The number can be retrieved over here: https://myaccount.voipbuster.com/clx/accessnumbers.php?form=profile
(Login first and then go to : 'Make VOIP calls from your fixed/mobile phone)
Select your country and a city. The number displayed must be filled in on the VoipCall settings)
Done.
Now you can use VoipCall ;-)
Just select a contact or type a number in the textbox at the top. and press the call button.
Have fun!
Versions
There are two versions available;
- For PDA/PocketPC
- For SmartPhones
The SmartPhone version has some limitations. It does not support favorites and currently only 1 account. Hopefully I can change this soon.
PDA
Changelog
Version 0.2.1 (31-05-2008)
- Parenthesis in numbers will be removed in order to make calls.
Version 0.2 (22-05-2008)
- Move favorite down/up in contextmenu on favorites
- Delete all favorites
- Order favorites fixed
- Phonepad will be visible during call
First attempt...
Hi Mathieu,
Thanks for the app! I tried it but I have few comments:
1. After configuring the app and using a country code where I'm at right now (France) it looks like the app tried to call to my own number...?
2. I saw that VoIPbuster actually has a Java app where you enter your own number and the other party's number and when you click "call" it dials back to you and then connects you to the other party. Can your app use the same method?
The reason I'm asking for (2) is because at least for me, I travel allot and I would like to redirect my call to either a local landline or other mobile phone which is different from the one I registered; doing so will be very useful...
I noticed that the app (also the XP app) using UDP to communicate with VoipBuster so I'm not sure if this is an open interface that they publish or not but it will be very useful!
Again, Thanks allot for the efforts!! Let me know if I did anything wrong and why the app initiated a dial to my own number after selecting someone from my contacts to call to...
Gil.
Hey,
Some quick answers.
1. Did you enter the correct number for the account? It must not be your number, but the service number from VoipBuster.
For France it's: 0170909535
2. I've to take a look at that app. I'm aware of its existance. Unfortunately VoipBuster is not giving away a lot of information. But I'll take a look at it.
Another option is to configure multiple accounts. You can switch accounts at the bottom of the main screen.
Ok, now it's clear
So I will have to enter the local access #. I will try that tomorrow morning...
Let me know if you have more information about phone-to-phone using two numbers (my own number and the number I want to call to) it has lots of benefits when one is abroad and using a pre-paid SIM card... if VoIPbuster will call me instead of me calling out - I will not be charged locally for the incoming call. I will only have to pay VoIPbuster charges which is much cheaper...
Thanks!
Gil.
hi Rhapsody, that was quick! didnt expect it so fast.. great idea and it looks like another very nice app...
ive been having some trouble with my voip calling from the internal wm6 possibility, so i cant wait to try this one
The VoipBuster rates for calling to your mobile number and the number you wish to call apply (plus a callsetup fee of 5ct). Costs for the calls will be settled via your VoipBuster account, so make sure you have enough credit.
Example: You are in the USA and wish to call a landline in the UK. You pay a callsetup of 5ct plus a rate of 18Ct/Min + 1Ct/Min = 19Ct/Min

It seems like you also pay for VoipBuster calling you.
I've uploaded a SmartPhone version.
Unfortunately I was unable to add favorites functionality as well as multiple accounts. Hopefully I can add this soon.
Rhapsody is the best
Rhapsody,
I've sent you an email with some additional information I've found for better automation of betamax services.
Take a look, let me know if some of these functions can be part of your client, it will be REALLY COOL if it can be implemented and make your program even more complete
Gil.
Thanks!
In the meantime I was also searching for some more information but without success...
I'm gonna check my mail now
Does it work only with Voipbuster? I only have account with Voipstunt..
It should work with every VoipBuster clone.
what about?
what about freecall.com? can I use this with account in freecall.com? imho freecall much better than voipbuster. they offer more countries to call for free, and free sms as well.

FreeCall.com seems to be another Betamax client, so the answer is yes; you can use this app for it.
In fact; the required settings are identical to VoipBuster. (http://www.freecall.com/en/geo.html)
VoipCall installation
Hi Rhapsody,
I use "VoipSMS". It's great, thank you for it.
I' ve tried to install "VoipCall", as well. Unfortunately, I can't select any provider nor can I define a new one because the "Account" tab is unaccessible, it is grey. Is it normal? My gadget is an Asus m530w smartphone with WM6 Standard OS.
I use "fring" with "Poivy" settings. It works fine. I' d like to use "VoipCall" with "Voxalot". Could you advise me the required parameters for selecting Voxalot, please?
Best regards,

I cannot find anything about Gizmo on this issue on their website.
The only thing you need (for now) is a service number to call. This service number is a computer where you can enter the number you want to dial through the voip provider.
Gizmo is not a Betamax client so I think it's not possible.
Further I'm waiting and hoping for some help from VoipBuster itself. I've dropped a question at my contact at VoipBuster about if it would be possible to implement calling like on their website (that the service calls you and the recipient).

I don't know Voxalot. (Seems like there are thousands of Voip Providers)
The only thing you need to get it to work is a service number.
I'm not sure but you could try a number from this list: http://www.sipbroker.com/sipbroker/action/pstnNumbers
I'll try to look at the account issue asap. Thanks for reporting.
I am confused by the overall VOIP concept??
Is it truly free, or do I still have to have Skype or a similar account?
What other software must be loaded for your progiie to work?
Thanks so much!
pardon my ignorance, but I am not sure what this program is for. If you are calling a service number or if the service is calling your phone, aren't you charged airtime on your phone anyways? Or is this really a way to get international calls cheap or free using standard local airtime?
I've done a search on this, but it always seems to go unanswered:
I use Google Voice as my voicemail exclusively, so can I safely delete my Sprint visual voicemail? It's always running in the background, seems kind of useless.
If you have Titanium you can try freezing it, and if you run into any issues you can just unfreeze it. Kind of way to do your own testing. I usually freeze something for about a week, and if I don't see any bugs, I go ahead and delete it.

how did you manage to get google voicemail setup on the epic? normally it makes you go into the settings and change the provider on android but the epic has its own settings for voicemail...
I can't figure out how to set it up with google voice
Try doing it from your pc. The web site gives you a code to dial that will swap you over.

Yeah you can delete it. I use Google Voice as my voicemail as well, and I delete stock voicemail on every ROM I install. The file is cm-android.apk or something like that. Hope that helps!
@OP:
If you're rooted, just go to system/apps and delete/rename/move the .apk. Root Explorer is good for this.
Or, you can use Autostarts to keep the VM app from running/starting. Again, root is needed.
@Zenoran (and others interested):
It's a subscriber dialer code that changes the "foward if no answer" function. That is how vm is achieved. The menu you refer is simply a shortcut that dials the appropriate number. The GV website can give you the same information (as described by Geekybiker).
I set two entries in my phone book that allows me to easily flip between GV and Sprint VM.
In essence, there are the codes you use from dial pad (press send like you're calling someone):
Activate GV: *28xxxxxxxxxx (x=10-digit GV phone number, no dashes or spaces)
Deactivate GV: *38
Cheers.

Try going online and making sure your mobile number is setup in your gv settings. From a pc. I used gv on a dumb phone and had to setup this way.

Hi guys, I've just moved over from iphone so still finding my feet with android.
For the most part android is far superior but the contact side of things is still bugging me. This is what I want to be able to do:
1. Have my call log as calls only, not texts. I know you can change this to view calls received, dialled etc, but it soons defaults back and shows everything. I just want my log to have dialled and received and nothing else? I'm sure i've read somewhere on the net that this was possible on the SGS through a hack??
2. I want to set up a favourites list of say best mate, gf, work etc and just be able to press their name and it dials there number, not opens another window that shows history, text option, dial option video call option, i.e. just direct dial. I also would like this to be the first screen that opens when I press my phone icon on the dock??
I've set my gf up on my desktop as a direct dial shortcut, but I don't want to be doing that for everyone. I've got a load of contacts but maybe only dial 10 at most on a regular basis.
are there any hacks or thrid party dialers that do this??
Cheers

I can help you with #2. Just swipe right on your favorite and you call that favorite immediately. Swipe left to immediately send a message.

hmmm, can't say i can see a way around No.1, other than using a new dialer/contacts app such as Go Contacts or Dialer One etc..
must say, i actually quite like the comprehensive log, coming from Sense and Stock roms with calls only, i like having it all in one place...
Dialer One would be my choice, but only as i used it on CM7 on my Hero for its smart dial feature... can't comment on Go Contacts
hope this helps
Dickie
I use loads off texts a day so within 10 mins of dialling someone their details are long gone
I'll check out Go Contacts and Dialer One though, thanks for the recommendations
This is a Samsung thing, regular android does not put texts with the call log. I don't think I'd like them to be combined like that.
it is the right thing to do
