Do u know how can i confirm or check if all China models are clones?
I need to confirm this because i allready buy some phones and i have some problems with signal now!
I allready try to update the ROM Antena but the update don't work i have fail msg to update!
Thx for now!

According to official HTC website - Manufacturing facility is in Taiwan - Only mentioned Taiwan not China so no official HTC Devices are manufactured outside of Taiwan. All of thoes devices made in China or anywhere else are clones
Offical site link that mentions manufacturing plant in Taiwan here at bottom of page.

HTC

Taiwanese company that makes the Wallaby and the Himalaya, as well many other of the current PDAs. Very good at making devices, not very good at supporting their devices after they're built.
why do you say so?... have some bad experiences?
IMHO, HTC not sold their devices direct to users, but to vendors like O2, Dopod, iMate, etc. so the one who will support or service users is vendor. and the one who support vendors is HTC. CMIIW...

Taiwanese is Chinese
(Mod edit: Don't go there on this board.)
Not sure if this is going to be implemented on the new forums, but the point of the encyclopedia is that when the subject word appears on the forums it can be clicked to show a 'definition'.
the definition is the last post in the thread SO DONT CHATTER ABOUT IT HERE.
If you have something to add/change copy what the old definition said into your post and then change that.

HTC - High Tech Corp
named HTC after the founder - H.T. Cho, recently acquired all Dopod subsidary in South East Asia
Note that Dopod is HTC's own brand in East Asian countries, not acquired.
HTC - High Tech Computer corp. This definition came from HTC official programs in devices.

HTC has its own-brand devices in China(including mainland, Taiwan, Hong Kong and Macau), Singapore and other East Asian countries named Dopod.

Release date?

On some sites it says "at the end of April". There are rumors that it will be available in May... what do you think?
I'm from Switzerland and in one store it says "mid. of May"... I hope it will be available sooner.
From what I know (about the situation here in France), the initial launch date was April 16th. But it seems like it will be postponed to end of April... maybe April 22th on SFR website and April 26th in stores.
As usual, wait & see...
theres reports that due to a hardware change, the release date is now may, and some people claim they might be changing for camera (3.2mg to 5.0)
source (http://www.engadget.com/2009/04/02/...til-may?icid=sphere_blogsmith_inpage_engadget)
and this is the reason why people believe they upgrading the cam, (look at pics)

welcome...
All is in the roadmap
When you look at the unofficial and leaked HTC roadmap for 2009, you can see three different versions of the Sapphire :
- Sapphire VF (VodaFone)
- Sapphire 1.5 DCM (DCM ?)
- Sapphire 2.0 TMO (TMObile)
The one with a 5Mp from FCC site is Sapphire 2.0 (T Mobile is written on). I presume VF (and maybe v1.5) will keep its 3.2Mp camera.
And concerning that quote from HTC ("due to a last minute hardware change"), my opinion is that it refers to the buttons layout changes between pre-series models (check CeBit photos) and the official one (press conference pics).
Or maybe the undisclosed service manual made HTC think over some last minute changes... as usual, wait & see
I was in my local Vodafone shop last weekend and spoke to one of the sales staff they have been told 1st May 2009 for UK launch.
Could DCM be for DoCoMo in Japan???
(just a guess, but figured i'd throw it out there)

It would make sens... a few HTC products are available through NTT DoCoMo, so why not the Magic
I think Sapphire 1.5 DCM, DCM means dopod China Mobile.
dopod is a wholly-owned subsidiary of HTC in China for China Mobile.

That would make sens too... so DoCoMo or Dopod China Mobile ? Time will tell (although we've already hear about China Mobile's Magic )
By the way, Magic's release date (in France) which was supposed to be 'End of April' will surely be postponed... :/

HTC HD2 T8585 made in china ????

Hello I buy HTC HD2 T8585 it's all ok all original accesories, gren box etc working perfect, and new, buy from market place with warranty. But I see in phone in box and under battery it says made in china? So what is this? Two month's ago I will be have HTC HD2 from United Kngdom from T-Mobile it says made in Taiwan. So please answer. Thanks, because I'm woring if it is diferent for made in china or made in taiwan.
Sorry for my english language.
A few months ago I saw a reference on the Internet stating that HTC does have a manufacturing plant in China. I was a bit surprised, as before I only knew that they had plants in Taiwan and Brazil. You can check your serial number and then contact HTC to be sure your phone is legitimate.

First you go to "manila settings" then go to "About phone" after go to "phone identity".you will find the S/N number,so chick the s/n number first two bit.
SZ is china shenzheng
SH is china shanghai
HT is taiwan xinzhu
CH is china wuhan
The best way is you send email to HTC service central confirm it.
My serial number starts with SH, and sure was manufactured in China.
Till now, I'm happy with the phone performance.
OF course, if your Chinese, then you beleive Tiawan is in Chaine anyway

[Q] Made in china not taiwan?

Can you people check and see where your phone is made, i found a htc hd2 i want to buy but it says it is made in china. Will this affect the ablity to install android and wp7 on it? i ask this as it is normally made in taiwan
I just check 3 of my HD2's all are made in Taiwan, i guess it won't matter if it's made in china if all the specs are the same. give it a shot & let us know.
actually most HD2 are made in taiwan
so is no need to check. as i know there's no fabric of HD2 in china to see
there have been several instances of people buying cheap 'bargain' fakes from china. i'd be very wary, since you dont know if the hardware is identical, and theres a good chance flashing wont work, especially the hspl stuff, and then drivers in any particular rom may not be correct for the hardware even if it did flash.

have you seen the sticker on the inside of the phone?
BTW Taiwan is a republic of China
Both my t-mobile hd2's were made in China. Both of them I bought within USA and one of them came with the original box and it also says made in China on them so no, it does not affect the quality of the phone and it being "made in China" does not mean it is a fake.
Both of them work fine and were my dev phones..
Both of mine say China as well and one of them is a replacement phone shipped direct from HTC repair.
Also running Android without any problem.
Sent from my HTC HD2 using xda premium

Not strictly correct, Taiwan IS the republic of China (ROC) not a republic of China or I should say was the ROC since they were brutally cut down and fled to Taiwan after WW2, however, most countries quite happily treat Taiwan as its own independent state, and if you look at the political and social situation on the island you can clearly see that they are doing very well for them selves, and are ranked very highly in terms of freedom of speech, health and education.
China is the Peoples republic of China (PRC) which is widely recognised as the legal ruling body of mainland china. The hypocrisy is that whilst we all think Taiwan is independent we cant say so formally otherwise the PRC has vowed to take the island by force and cut off all diplomatic relations with that country… its all very confusing!
back on topic... there was a case not long ago where someone had a HD2 clone made in china, but the devices them selves can be made anywhere now, so its not really a problem unless you have political reasons NOT to buy from china
