[APP] Block Recognizer Enabler - Windows Mobile Development and Hacking General

As most people here know, HTC ripped the Block Recognizer (Graffiti) & Letter Recognizer (JOT) out of the roms.
It is possible to enable them, just by tweaking the registry.
As this is different for each language, I made a small application to do this for you.
If it doesn't work, it could be your rom doesn't support the recognizers at all, or there could be some inconsistent naming in the rom.
The first case cannot be solved, but the latter can be. I'll try to make the application detect the latter case and fix it automatically.
Features:
Enable Block Recognizer & Letter Recognizer
Change their names in the list of input methods
Requires:
.NET Compact Framework 2.0

When I use the setup.cab, the following message comes out.
Couldn't find msimzh.dll

Sorry for the dumb newbie question - but is the "letter recogniser" the core to a transcriber? WHich I had on my HTC diamond but its not on my HTC TD2 (WM6.5, official rom).

Is it possible to have this app with a command line parameters? For example for enabling it during customization process..

Any chance of bringing back the original windows mobile qwerty keyboard through a similar means?

Touch Keyboard/Keypad issue, help required

Hello All, I have the new kitchen rom installed and need a bit of help with the touch keyboard/touch keypad.
When I first start it (say go to programs) and tap on the keyboard symbol I get a nice large standard keyboard with the numbers on top but if I change to any program that requires that requires input the keyboard switches to the XT9 automatically and I can't seem to find a way to disable the XT9 input.
Any ideas????
Hey Iggy, I have a unbranded herald and installed a custom rom with the touch keyboard/touch keypad, and encountered the same exact thing. I wasn't the only one either. I installed the custom rom I was using previously and I didn't have that problem anymore. I think it might be a keyboard bug in that rom you're using. I could be mistaken, but so many people in the herald community forum who installed that particular beta rom experienced that same *annoying* keyboard issue, lol.
Look in the Elf upgrading forum for the original thread by noonski, check on the first page for the link to the fix for switch to xt9 mode (2 letters per key). Just a note if you make the changes to have the full querty stay you will not be able access the other modes, also xt9 will be completely disabled.

look for the HTC Touch keyboard/keypad's cab file version somewhere in the elf/elf upgrading forums and copy it into your ppc. then tap it to install the cab. then use a registry editor and go to
HKEY_CURRENT_USER/keyboard layout /Preload/1
change e0010409 by adding characters like XXXXXe0010409 to disable xt9 and make the HTC Touch 40-key keyboard permanent. (you can revert it back by taking out your added characters) BUT what i found was the landscape view does not contain a spacebar key/button! but portrait mode works flawlessly.
Disable XT9
I used this reg file found in this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=344533 it is part of the HTC Touch Keyboard/Keypad file that can be downloaded as a seperate file.
..thanks...
...for you information, now my hardware keyboard is on!!

Word Complete Tab isn't available for Keyboard input when using a non-english ROM

This problem has been haunting me for a while : When I flash an English ROM the Word Completion function is always available, i.e., the word complete tab shows up on the Input Option page. But if I flash a Chinese Rom, for some ROMs it's available for others it's not.
My question is : What controls the availability of this function, the keyboard input component, or the system configuration such as a registry entry? I'd like to use ENGLISH word complete function even when I flash a Chinese ROM, how can I do that?
BTW, When the Word Completion is not available, I look into the registry and see it's enabled(HKCU->ControlPanel->Sip->SuggSpell = 1, HKLM->System->IME->CompIME->SuggWordsEnable = 1) , but still its config page doesn't appear and its function isn't really enabled.
Thanks for any comments/hints/suggestions on this.
I have the same problem. who can resolve it? thanks.

XT9 Fix released on HTC asia :-D

Well, after I installed it, it doesnt default to Xt9 any more when I go to new messages
Sweet!
can't find this, can you send the link?
this is fantastic!
what ROM are you using ? will this work with any ROM (and ROM language) ?
i would appreciate the link also!
here is the cab file, it's actually just a registry setting fix.
HTC-DUAL-TOUCH-XT9-TO-ABC-FIX
The registry concerned is:
Code:
[HKLM\SOFTWARE\Tegic\eT9\IME]
CarrierDefaultTextMode=dword:0
(0 for ABC / 1 for XT9)
A friend gave me this link as I am also having a problem with the HTC site.
Enjoy!
oh my god it works !!!!
i cant believe how simple that was !!! thank you so much for the registry entry, i can use my phone to text again !!!
it's great!
this was the most anoying thing on my new dual.
tx a lot,
pirlone
Doesn't work for me
in fact it screws my device up!.. it shows the ABC being as the default input, but I can only type the first letter in each key, multiple presses just repeats the same letter
I guess I will have to reflash the OS.. otherwise I now cant use the text input on the keypad anymore!
works on mine. thanks, dtm for letting me know about this.
Maybe doesnt work on mine becos Im running the WM6.1 Nikki project OS ??
Anyone else that has installed this using this Version?

Hi, just copy the cab to the phone and install it. Maybe you need to softreset your Niki. (open the battery case, the reset button is left to the USB connector).
Cheers
Michael
I love this and it is working well for me. My only issue is when using the touch keypad software, when you type it highlights the letters and take a few micro seconds to move to the next so if I am typing a sentence, and press space,it deletes that entire word or atleast the last few letters that I typed :-( So the only way to solve this is not text that fast or use the hardware keypad.
Wow I noticed so many people reposting this when this was posted a long time ago.
Anyway, just wanted to confirm this is working on my wifes elf also
Finally there's something to kill XT9
Change Mode from ABC to XT9 or XT9 to ABC.
Hey everyone!
First, I wanted to start out thanking muzikfreakah for the link to the .cab file and the posting the Registry path that needs to be modified. I used these as a base reference for the work I completed on my phone. Instead of wanting to go from XT9 to ABC, I wanted to change my phone from ABC to XT9.
Initially I used PHM Registry Editor to make the necessary change to the Registry value you noted. Shortly thereafter, I updated my ROM to WM 6.1 so I had to reapply the settings manually. This got me thinking. Why not just create a quick .cab file for myself, saving me time in the future. This is exactly what I did!
Attached are two .cab's I created a while back (just never got around to uploading them). The first .cab (SP_Default_ABC_To_XT9.cab) modifies the appropriate Registry Key, setting it to 1 (defaulting to XT9). The second .cab (SP_Default_XT9_To_ABC.cab) does just the opposite, changing the value to 0 (defaulting to ABC).
Final notes before I part -
File Sizes: The file size of each of my .cab's is 1.07 KB, as it only contains the necessary Registry Key change. The link muzikfreakah provided brings you to "HTC+Touch+Dual-default-ABC.cab". This file size is 20.76 KB, as it appears to use a more complex method of making the necessary Registry changes.Company and Application Name: After my .cab is installed, it will display in the Installed Programs list as "Seth_Polley Default_XT9_To_ABC" (or vice versa depending on .cab used). After installing the other .cab (HTC+Touch+Dual-default-ABC.cab), the following is displayed in the Programs list: "Customization Customize_Tool".
In summary, either file will work for changing from XT9 to ABC. While 20.76 KB is nothing by today's standards, you can go smaller yet by using my .cab's (about 1/20th of the file size). Additionally, my .cab's provide a more descriptive name in the Programs list. Pick your poison! To 'install' the Registry modification, simply move the .cab to your phone, execute it, and follow the prompts.
Feel free to PM me if you have difficulties accessing/downloading the files. If you are concerned about using my files, feel free to open the .cab (can use an application like WinRAR) and review the contained "_setup.xml" file to verify this .cab will only make the changes I noted above.
Best Regards,
Seth

SIP Keyboards Localization

Hi all, i was thinking about making a thread with a collection of the many SIP keyboards for wm6.1 (msim*.dll and relative CLSID regkey), that could be useful for those who, like me are into localization of other language ROMs.
Here i attached a zip with the .dll and .rgu for the Italian language SIP, you can do the same for other languages and make a unique archive with a list of the languages included.
And i have a little question... is there a way to set this SIPs as default? changing the "DefaultIM" regKey doesn't work, it breaks the ROM and i don't understand why, as those SIPs are defaults in the proper language ROMs... any help on that?
try sipchange to keep your fav kbd..
yep, i know... i was just tryin' to do it without external programs. After all they are used by default in the original ROMs, so i think is just a matter of settings or little patching something, but i don't know where to look at, everything i tried has failed till now.

[Q] SMS & Imput Tweaks request

Hello.
First of all can someone help me with a tutorial to eliminate and modify the languages in swype? i only need romanian language and the aplication with all the languages takes a lot of phone space. i have tried to make the .apk into a .zip and deleted the language files i did not need to use but the resulting .apk gave me an installation error. other people did this to make a swype.apk with their specific language, and i found an outdated version with romanian language but wish to update it to current version. I am sure i am not the only one to gain from this. the normal language version ocupies almost 14 mb.
Another big problem is that my language uses diacritical's (not shore if that is how to call them) "ş"â"î" and they are not that important but when i imput a word in the sms field the sms conuter goes from a limit of 160 characters to 70 characters, is there a setting in the phone to ignore this characters when sending the message and replace them with normal characters? (i saw once this option on other phones). another way to change this might be by simply opening the swype specific language file and replace-ing those characters with simple characters in every word, can that be done? can anyone help me and guide me on what programs should i use to make this modifications?
my headset is a htc Desire stock update with no root (wish to keep it that way)
Thankyou in advance. excuse my english language skills
