changing the color of the white spaces between the icons in programs and settings - XPERIA X1 General

any way to change the empty white spaces to a different color or pattens. im sick of it. microsoft should have made it changeable from the today settings 10 years ago

guess no one ever wanted to do this...real shame as it would allaw for a nice addtion in customizing the phone and making it look so much cooler

there's others who have done this before (mostly to make it black).
however learning to use the search function is essential on a site like this.
I just (using the google search at the top) typed in "black programs" and got
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=343175
which will give you some clues.

Yet another random question

I've been searching for a good theme generator that will do landscape and vertical views, but didn't find anything that works like I want it to, so I searched for some themes that I liked but didn't find anything 100% appealing so I decided to try to make them from hand. What I did was download a theme with a good color scheme for the taskbars and used winace to break it down into it's 3 seperate files 2 of which I found can be opened in Paint so I edited those and saved them as the same exact file name and so on and so forth so that in the end everything was the same except for the actual embedded images but when i install the theme it looks the same as before i messed with it. the only thing i couldnt edit was the third attached document with would not open in paint but appeared as broken text with some symbols in notebook. If anyone else who's tried this and succeeded can offer any advice that'd be awesome. Thanks.
Try Themegence and see if it does what you're looking for.
Thanks I'll give that a try I was just shocked that what I was trying actually didnt work, cuz in theory it should. But whatever if this program is good i'll use that.

Pimp my Phone (100d reward)

I like the phone, but i think it really needs some adjustements.
what im looking for is:
-a way to change the background while using tf3
-a way to change the icons on the top bar (as ive seen in some pics)
-a way to change stuff on the today screen
-any app that improves how the phone looks/feels
if someone could help me out either with a very easy guide or link i would appriciate it, but keep in mind that ive tried sick many hours and failed. so its gotta be easy..
100d reward if im allowed to offer that.
hang on here a minute. can you explain this a bit more clearly.
1. background, are you wanting to change just the first tab or all tabs?
2. Topbar, Are you wanting 1 already made or to do this yourself? for already made just visit the themes and apps forum http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=474 but i would recommend this one http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=520132. If you want to make your own the guide is here http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?p=588802
3. The today screen is easy just go in to the today settings!!
4. Look and feel, HD Tweak is very good and found that this does work to improve the feel. I would also recommend a custom ROM for the final touch. Dutty is the man to see for these as far as i'm concerned.
-I would like a background for all tabs.
-Want 1 already made, probably wont be able to make 1 myself.
-Is it that simple? like I was thinking about some drastic changes like removing the calendar thing. anyway its not as imprtant as background and the bar.
HD Tweak is the 1 app i currently have, im also very happy with it.
what is a custom ROM? and is it easy to install etc?

[THE][16-7-09][v1.0] Apple style TF3D

Here's something for those who are perhaps coming over from the iPhone. You'll probably be more at ease with your device!
By the way, for the record, I just made this for fun, thinking that there are people who actually appreciates this sort of theme. I use my other theme more regularly. Please don't flame me with Apple-fanboy comments!
Note: This cab does not include the taskbar, and 1% battery driver. You may find them at the links provided. Credit to Chainfire, InsecureSpike
Instructions:
1. Install cab
2. At the soft-reset prompt, tap cancel.
3. Disable and re-enable TF3D to see the changes.
If don't like it, just uninstall. Disable and re-enable TF3D. Back to normal.
Meh, You make great stuff dude..
I use your V1.4 TF3D.. btw I'm curious about something..
Shouldn't the "Mail" and "Messages" icon be replaced with one another ?
Seems like the (a) is more suited for E-mail.. xD
Ha! I like your V1.4 TF3D more..... iphone icons?? Don't think so.... that is the reason why I bought my TP2... and not putting iphone stuff on my TP2.
Btw... Awesome work!!!

Well, I'll say this. I'm not a huge fan of the Messages icon I chose to use. I just haven't been able to find one that feels like "the one". Anyway, have a look at the other thread. I've made a poll to see what everyone thinks...

That's exactly how I feel too!
Still trying myself to get this theme thing down, Still getting all kinds of white blotches on my screen which is pissing me off but good work on the apple theme although I do hate apple still looks nice.
Wow, no love for this theme...
The download count must have set some sort of record low for most unpopular theme or something.
Don't things too hard! I love parts of your other theme, elements of that I am using on my own theme for the communications and settings tab.
Since this thread is a bit quieter, could you answer a couple of questions?
I've been using Manila Editor v.0.2 to build my theme, which is a bit trial and error since most of the manilla files are listed as unknown (eg, the program doesn't know what icon they represent) but does give you a preview of the file and allows you to change it. What do you use?
What is the correct protocol for posting a theme containing elements from others work? EG my theme would have your communications, settings (and dammit, more fiddling, now the volume part of settings! But thanks for the effort.) Should I ask each person if it's ok for me to share, post but with credits and links to the original theme or what?
Thankyou for going the extra mile on your themes and customising parts that others haven't. It really makes a difference when the phone doesn't just go back to the standard look once you leave the main pages.
Hey Steve, thanks for the consolation, I feel much better...haha!
Now, regarding your queries...
I've used Manila Editor before...back in the days when I was first bought my Touch Diamond and people were just starting to figure out how to edit manila files. But I've always found it really difficult to use and (like you said?) a lot of the files are categorized as "unknown". All in all, this app is pretty outdated and I don't believe it's being developed anymore.
I use Chainfire's great tool, CFC-GUI. Try it out. It should be quite easy to figure out for you.
I don't know if there's even a protocol (per se) in place for creating themes containing parts of other user's themes. I suppose it's ok if all authors are happy with it. I'll be perfectly happy with you just linking back to my theme's thread.
very good,wo like it!!!

Got myh HD2 and here is my first question...

It is gorgeous and for the last 3 days all's I have done tweak/upgrade and generally have fun with all the possibilities.
One thing I am a bit disappointed with is the font display on the home screen in the quicklinks - the font is so small it just does not seem to display correctly...and some of the links I have added to the quicklinks seem a bit pixelated...
Is there anything I can do about this?
Thanks
Scott

i dont get it either but i guess they want phone that works out of the box and they dont want to spent time tweaking it(best part about windows mobile, cause u can make your phone look like exactly the way u want ) and maybe cause of appstore? dunno about that cause itunes are very bad imho... slow and doesnt let u do what u want...
well everybody likes somethin else...
Activating Cleartype fixes the pixelation in the fonts you referred to. To turn it on go to Settings>Menu>All Settings>System>Screen and select the Cleartype tab.
Excellent that has made such a difference - the small title text for each Quick Link is still a bit fussy - or it just maybe be me....
I love this phone!!!
Thanks
Scott
Just did a restart and found the text is now truely clear - so I revoke my fussy statement from before.

How can I get rid for the Calendar on the home screen w/out themes?

Hello all, first post here *as a WM* user...
I got my HD2 last week, and I have installed some tweeks already, including running Android from the SD, but one thing is really bothering me; the Calendar on the home screen.
I'd really like to kill it, but from what I have found (yes, I searched lol), it looks like I will have to theme to do so. Honestly, I really like the Sense 2.5 look as it is stock, so I am not looking to completely redo it. I just want to remove the Calendar from the home screen, and if I could completely remove the top 3 quick links, that would be a bonus.
I did find this thread, which looks promising, but the files are not avail for DL anymore, and I am slightly confused about how to implement it anyway lol...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=552153
Anyone know of a way to remove this? Maybe a simple .cab to run that will do it?
Any help is appreciated...

In terms of the quicklinks, try Cookies home tab, I think you can remove them (you can change the number of them, so guessing you might be able to)
Defitinely definitely install Cookie, it adds next to no baggage to your phone but offers so much flexibility and customisation it's unreal....

I'll add it then. Will it adjust the stock theme? I do NOT want to get rid of the stock home clock/weather. I love it's animation lol...
No it shouldn't (altho it offers more choice for clocks) and it's easily uninstallable with no damage caused if you dislike it
Wow, CHT is awesome!
Thanks Guys!
Enjoy it! Fantastic mod for Sense!
