what are the improvements in this new rom you guys? i'm hesitant to flash bc i'm too lazy to backup all my junk... unless of course this rom has some pretty sweet improvements. judging by the other r2a roms though, there are only minor bug fixes and slight speed improvement... if it's worth it though, you guys let me know

EDITED: As of JAN 31 2009, these ROMS (UK, FR, SPAIN) ARE NOT "officialy released", thus SEUS WILL NOT UPDATE
will restoring from spb backup after flashing to this new rom be o.k.? or will i have to manually install everything again? i'm asking because of the system files being backed-up as well, i dont want to overwrite anything from the new rom. thanks

am trying to update my rom with seus but seus is displaying "the software in your phone is up-to-date" and theres no option to "continue anyway"..

New FW generic uk is crap
I have just made the flash and played around for 30 minutes... its all crap! It is slower now, no real improvements that I could find. Besides those updates of radio, browser (still NO flash support!), etc.
Nothing of value to me. The camera still sucks big time, still NO zoom for 3MP and the quality still bad.
Again, I could not find any real improvement and/or feature enhancement. Too bad, waited and waited... just to be disappointed again by SE. Perhaps its time after all to move on to a different brand.
michaelthemage I updated to the new r2a rom too, and after like 2 hrs i was about too flash back my old rom, but then i tried to soft reset, and it worked a little bit better, then using it for a couple of days, the performance increased and became stable, i'm most satisfied with the media panel that now feels much quicker, i can now browse my images as fast as i want, the system became overall faster and snappier, but it's really weird that the performance increased gradually,
So if I were you i'd give it 2 days before flashing back !
P.S i wanted to know if the now released uk rom will be the same as the one officialy released by SE or if there is any chance SE could improve it till the official release date ???

1. does TouchFlo3D work with the new rom.
2. i hear that some people flash without doing HardSPL. is that safe

your no idiot, just as you stated: a noob
1. yes
2. yes, because its official rom. hard-spl is needed to unlock so you can flash custom roms or perhaps stock roms with other languages.
3. rename it to ruu_signed.nbh or Kovsimg.nbh if you do from sd-card
Just did the update, SD card method worked fine, it lasted only 10 minutes. Unfortunately I have a 210 MB sprite backup file, so I needed to delete some custom files and choose not to restore some unnecessary ones before the restore. If you are using Sprite Backup too, be sure to choose Level 2 as the restore option (Level 1 did not work fully, unfortunately).

Someone cooking R2A UK ROM already?
I was gonna switch to the iphone before this rom, but now......
Some improvements i have noticed:
1: Boot time is much faster.
2: iGo08 now takes about 10 seconds to load up instead of over 30!
3: Infact pretty much all programs load much faster than the previous rom.
4. PanelSwitching is faster.
5: Phone signal is much better and more consistant (im on 3UK)
6. General Speed improvements all round.
Not fixed/worse:
1. On the sony ericsson panel i still cant get weather updates on my city/town (Doncaster UK) even though its a city i can select.
2. Media Panel now does not detect photos in my storage card stored in folder my documents/mypictures. Now previously taken pictures have to be stored in my pictures in the storage card root directory.
Overall a very good update, im impressed, looks like i have an iphone to sell!

It's very very unlikely that T_Mobile is going to release WM 6.1, but even if it's just WM6 it's still a much awaited update since it's the only one WIng users have gotten!
Oh by the way, i really hope too that it's WM 6.1, since ATT released it for their phones(Tilt).
according to microsoft, WM6.1 doesn't even exist. i contacted customer service asking when it was coming out because the internet isn't helping and after about 5 minutes of looking, the guy said WM6.1 doesn't exist and to talk to HTC about windows mobile updates . . .

I too was frustrated with T-Mobile's website that was missing a link to the download for the new ROM for the Wing. My wife has a Shadow that is also made by HTC. I downloaded a ROM update for her phone and I copied the URL and changed the last part from shadow to wing. Amazingly, the link worked. Yesterday I was on the phone with tier-3 support from T-Mobile and they escalated the issue to the web development team. We didn't expect an immediate resolution due to the holiday.

I'm updating my backups and getting ready to try this. I'll let you know how it goes ,and in a few days to let you know how it works in my machine.

I have a T-Mobile Wing USA.
I am flashing it right now:
1. I extracted the RUU_signed.nbh and flashing via MMC.
2. It scans 2 OS's from the nbh.
3. Reading second OS from SD!
4. Flashing second phase OS
5. Success, Press any key.
6. T-Mobile Splash
7. Original Windows 2nd splash (no indication of version)
8. Typical alignment screen
9. Stylus tutorial screen
10. Password screen
11. complete screen
12. Customization tool
13. 3-5 minute wait then reset
14. T-Mobile start up jingle
15. Installing MyMobiler for initial browsing of the phone now.
Follow up with pics in a little bit.
Pictures are now added. As stated by the next OP the ROM is much more efficient/faster than original stock. But it is WM6. No need to downgrade if you are using custom a custom rom with 6.1.
To upgrade/downgrade with HardSPL use winrar to remove the "RUU_signed.nbh" from exe. Rename to heraimg.nbh put on the root of MMC and install.
Note: I already have went back to "Just2Clean Wing - zcink Edition". I won't be able to answer any questions. I have to have threaded sms and a lightweight ROM.
It's still WM6. There's 17.5mb or ram available without any mods, and it seems to run a little faster, but it's still the same rom. It's version 4.26.531.1. Basically, tmo doesn't care what we want. If you want 6.1, buy a new phone or make your own.

But I can't uprom that is from T-mobile website.
How do I have to do ?
If you have a HardSPL'd Herald/Wing/Atlas, use 7zip or WinRAR to extract the contents of the file. Delete the SPL.nbh file. Flash.
I tried it, but I'm disappointed with it... It's just more useless old junk... at most, it might be a good starting point for a ROM base.
well i updated, wing seems SLOWER!!! well after a few resets it's about the same, overclocking to 247.
2 things i've noticed, if you are in the text message program, with all your messages, and you receive a new one, the pop up still comes up, i find that very annoying. also, you now have MMS options in the menu option in the text message area.
the COMManager looks "cleaner" and smaller as well
I didn't install anything but MyMobiler and the ROM seemed fast. No overclocking either. But again I won't live with out threaded sms.
I noticed that the radio rom is upgraded to 03.21.90. Does anyone notice any difference with the new radio rom or is it basically the same as 03.07.90 that came with my device.
what are you using for threaded SMS?
So far I don't see any major differences. It seemed a little faster, but it still benchmarks the same. The only minor diff was more available ram before modding, but once I cleaned out the startup folder I had 26mb just like before. I'll see if the radio makes any diff at work Tuesday.

Well it's been 16 hours since my last soft reset and it's still got 23mb of ram available. That's practically unheard of on a stock rom. I still need to cook my own to get rid of this MyFavs crap, but this seems like a good starting point...

nope ...not 6.1 but with all the t mobile crap running you get 18m and if you turn voice command off 20m....looks like they fixed the memory leak to........ better but to late....

I downloaded it and had to backup all my ****, so yeah..
its a rom update people .... just like flashing a rom from here ... the rom works fine even has a newer radio than the ones here.... they did fix most of the issues us wing users had .......but like i said BETTER BUT TO TO LATE
P.S this rom is just like open touch 5.2 original but with a newer radio you can even change the page pool to 6 or 4 ... it comes set to 8

Ok Well My first impression on this is..its about time they have an official update. Ive been told this was going to be released months ago from t mobile themselves. but anyway it does solve most of the problems including the memory leak. the im application still wont close after u exit though but i really dont use it. but the rom itself is pretty good it would be alot better though it if was windows mobile 6.1 but i recently talked to a t mobile representative and they told me they should be getting the 6.1 version soon so keep your fingers crossed.

The only other change from the original stock seems to be the office mobile update.
So far the memory leak seems to be gone.
It is set for an 8M Page Pool. I changed mine back to 6, the offset is obviously different, so the current instructions at modaco need some tweaking.

For an updated ROM this isn't bad for anybody who uses the stock ROM, however for anyone who uses a custom ROM, this update isn't at all worth the download.
Like stated before, it's a little too late for update to be at all impressive.
How do you change the page pool?
the memory leak problem was caused by windows live through the phone and u would start with about 10 mb of ram then it will decrease overtime to maybe 4 and thats bad for the phone cause itll be very slow

Hello All i Have Updated to R3AA010(from here) Like to tell u and answer all ur question u will ask ill try.But till now from what i found is the following:
- The keys where u type the password to unlock ur phone change the color to brighter,and got a bit faster when u start up ur phone.
- when u press X butten it and flip ur scren to go landscap mode the panels in the R1A & R2A used to stop for less than a sec or so doesnt turn clean but in the R3A u flip the screan with in 0.5sec or less the panels rotate with no stops so clean...but didnt solve the idea of message sent...
- one of the great thing i find fixed is the sms texting! i used to write when i had the R1A and R2A the text doesnt apper directly only after a while it appers what i wrote at the same time even if it was update new while in the R3A this is sloved which is a good thing for those who write fast on the X1s Keybord...
- the Comm Manager as how it chaged from R1A to R2A it also change in R3A the font size & the speed!
- enter ur File Explorer go to windows in the R1A&R2A it takes time but it is solved in R3A its fast count till 4 it opens n u can work normaly...
- the media panel!!!all ask about its performenc!first time u turn it on it is so slow till it updates all the files video and surfing in it is faster in a way for me didnt find much diffrence..(but no radio and not the new media panel sad)

i have a question if i make backup by spbBackup then upgrade to R3A then restore the backup again it will be R3A or restore to R2A and are all programs restore well ?
it depands on what r u backing up, if ur backing up the softwear R2A then u will go back to it, but if ur backing up the files, contacts, documents,& personal stuff... they will return as they where & u will have the R3A normaly...i keep my things on the pc which i find better 4me to keep in on my harddisk...
i make a full backup with programs
since u r useing SPB Backup i search a bit u have lots of options it will give u when u download the upgrade ROM there is customize restore u will restore the things u want to be restored ur contacts sms ur programs and all that with out going back to the old ROM n it seems that the softwear will knw that u have upgreaded ur ROM so it will give u lots of options!!!!!

Will till now i had no problems with it its just a bug fix nothing more people wanted more and sony ericsson didnt give it made every1 down i had it for 4days n im fine with it atlest it is better than R1A & R2A... propzzzzzz

I installed and now I am in trouble, my second password from the sim card is not showing anymore, the X panel are not working, I installed the active, and the R3a, and, I can't close down the phone, I also have some kind of flickerings with the screen....
Sorry, and, of course no good backup anymore.....
Also, when I uninstalled, made a soft reset, and touch the X for pannel, I received a message telling me, no more Panels Manager...? then I reinstalled the R3A, and now, kaput....
the best thing is when u update is to remove all ur passcodes because lots of time they dont work after an update or a hared rest!
about ur panels instaling the panel manager which is given alon is diffrent completly from the one that comes with the R3A...
so as what u did reinstalling is the good idea or downgread to R2A till the R3A on seus or get a frish copy of the R3A..

i used to connect my x1 in my speakers and play music through the media panel but now after some time when the screen goes off music goes off to

I put it to the test my friend directly after i read what u posted..so i played a mix of songs & left my phone go to lock mode & the music didnt stop even when the screen is off...I waited more than 10min the music went on normaly!if anyluck happens keep us posted!!
Till now i can say u can update to the found R3A ROM and ur happy coz the performence is worth a try n better 10times than R1A and R2A...
Any problems u like me to try on my phone with the R3A i have no problem to answer back

Its official if its on SEUS (SE Update Service).
It has been officially released in some markets only -eg in Germany members have been offered, and many have flashed to, the updated ROM (R3A) via SEUS.
I'm in the UK and SEUS is still telling me I already have the most up to date version (R2A) ...so I wait like you

I'm not sure about S2U2, but I have pointui work on my R3 UK ROM. not sure about the network coverage, but the video playback is wonderful (used to have stuttering in the youtube playback, but it's smooth in the R3 ROM)
I dont' notice any much louder on the phone, but I do think the phone is already loud by itself, alot of time it's the hand that's blocking the speaker that makes the phone sound softer than it's actually do.

1)S2U2 works normely with the latest verison i instaled it(1.62) and used it for a while this is my frist time use for S2U2 and it seems fine and i like it so bad
2)Point UI works great and have no problems(SPB if way better i use it more)
3)The Radio v. is better i found that my phone have a better sgnal than it had on the R2A in may place in my house,univesity &on the road.
4)the phone volume is the same nothing changed at all.
5)and from the time i updated it there had been not a single hange, not like the R2A.my phone is complitly working smoth. with the 9panels instaled SPB MS3. S2U2.
i got the download from xda forms ill post it later

Its not offical coz as every1 says u cant downloaded it for SEUS..
but its worth trying and u will find a diffrence in ur phones performance.at least. And as i said my phone didnt hang n i didnt restart it from the time i updated now u can say i have it more than 6days...

Hi i experienced this before with a cooked rom, the only way is a hard reset, and do not change the date and flash another rom

Lost my pictures but ok my stupid idea to go to custom roms
Did you use the volDeus Transparent bars and HQ BG Tweak. If so a few people have been experiencing this due to a TimeBomb in some of the shell32.exe and aygshell.dll files. You need to get the correct unpatched versions of these files from your base rom.

I used an Energy rom for about 3 months I guess.. Cant remember the build etc. Seems that I have to flash more often
Yeah, the MS time-bomb must be removed by the chef.
I acquired the 'leaked 2.1 update' and flashed it to my Streak.
It goes through one status bar, resets, goes to a nice graphic of an unpacked box and another status bar, resets...and reboots into a fresh stock original ROM.
I'm not fussed that i've lost data & apps as the phone is taking a back burner to my HD2 - what does annoy me is that I was REALLY looking forward to playing with the 2.1 OS.
Any ideas why this is happening? I don't need to root the thing first do I? It doesn't suggest this is the case on the modaco thread, just to put the .spk file onto the SD card etc etc etc.

Hi there r u sure it's not the 2.1?
The 2.1 still has the o2 bubble screen on it, the way to tell is when the home screen loads if u have the lock slider on the bottom right and the sound slider on the top right then u have 2.1
2.1 makes the streak much better-faster n fun to play with. Another way to tell would be to hit the middle button on right n hold, get up the wall papers n there will be a sub folder for live wallpapers (really cool) if u have that then u have 2.1
Or just goto about n it will tell u ur firmware version.
If u don't sound like u have an incorrect rom. But u must try the streak with 2.1 its amazing.
As for ur apps all u have to do is log back into app store, hit downloads n ur apps will be there(ok u have to re-install them)

It turns out although the update I was downloading was 'suggested' to be the 2.1 update - the numbers in the filename are different from the one that I have now found and successfully applied.
At a guess, this may have actually been the stock O2 ROM for those people who required to change to stock O2 first and then move to 2.1, but that's a pretty big guess.
Anyway, I can happily report i'm now running 2.1 and the first thing i'm going to do is apply the VR Tunnel live wallpaper.

where did you get the 2.1 upgrade ad what version number should I be looking for..

Whilst searching for the reason why my upgrade wouldn't work I stumbled across the actual file.
I'd suggest you do a Google search for "Dell Streak 2.1 O2" and have a look through the results. You'll likely end up having to get the file from MediaFire or some other file host.
As long as you've got an O2 Streak and you find the correct upgrade .spk (the one I downloaded from the original forum thread was the one that kept putting me back on 1.6) it's really easy to do.
