Storage Memory Low - Touch Diamond, MDA Compact IV Themes and Apps

Anybody know why my Device storage memory is being used so much when I install everything on the internal storage card? The device should not be getting used right? But it says I have 6mb free and it keeps throwing low device memory errors.

go to opera program and delete the cache files
if you use internet explorer delete the cache files
there is some program like S2U2 ,S2P, S2V, SPB MOBILE install automaticlly to phone memory even if you choose internal storage
go to /program files and see what programs is there.
guys is there any tweak that turn off the low device memory notification

Thanks! Is there anyway to move those program files to the internal storage and still have them work? And is it possible to change Opera to store the history and cache to the internal storage instead of the device?

If you're using a theme, some of them uses up ~20Mb of storage.

GOOD TO KNOW! I am using the blue and white tf3d theme. I'll remove it and see if that helps

you can move opera cache to internal storage by editing the .ini file in /windows/opera9
you can find info about this by searching the forum

pmClean will clear the cache etc for you

I use mem maid seems to clear cach and restore lots of other memory.

sktools can move dll's, applications and other thingies to internal storage. it also has some shadow services that clears memory, .. etc, as i recall

Using Apps2SD>How Do You Know When Updates Come Out For Apps?

I just wiped my phone and see all of my apps there because I installed them before to my sdcard.
But when I go to the Market, they are no longer in "my downloads." So... how do I know if an update comes out for them?
Thanks.
Do you use aTrackDog?
No. I don't know what That is...
I reccomed reinstalling all your apps as you may have an issue with running them properly. If you paid for an app you can download it again and they will show up in your "my downloads" atrackdog is a 3rd party program that will check for up dated versions of your apps by using a p2p like protocal. It works for apps that you have that are not on the market like wireless tether and g-arcade.
But really reinstall all your apps. Use atrackdog. You can manage them from there.
Just wondering... Won't this happen every time I wipe then? The apps still show up in the "drawer" where all the apps usually are, just not in the marketplace. So... if this does happen everytime you wipe (the phone, ), then what's the whole point of apps2sd? Please clarify. Thank you.
The point is to free up the phones internal memory and keep it from lagging when the free memory gets below 20mb. Also a sdcard class 6 is slightly faster than the internal memory. Besides would you rather have 80 megs total to download programs or 500 megs?I wouldn't want to have to uninstall last.tm to play a game
I get that... but... if I wipe the phone, the apps will show up again once I put the new rom on it. However, there's no way to check if the apps have been updated by the developer since your downloads no longer show up in the market's "my downloads." So... Is there a way to fix that or a way around that..?
Currently there is no known workaround
Use atrackdog. Its available in the market. It won't auto notify you. Personally I run it every few days and it works great. If an update is available you can go directly to the programs market page and install the update.
Edit: you can always reinstall them
start all over i guess.. i do this all the time just to try a rom
format Fat32/Ext2 both it will format installed apps.. ur paid apps will be there regardless
wipe
flash the build
set-up app2sd before installing ur apps
then start serching all the apps u had
yea its alot of work but atleast i see my apps updates
I did this (but didn't start downloading apps yet) and for internal storage in settings>sdcard/storage, it shows internal storage free space is 840mb. Is that normal? Its just reading my ext3 partition as the internal storage, right? I did NOT set up apps2sd files or anything yet, but when I installed one app I looked at the free space again and it went down under "internal storage" instead of sd card. That would be normal EXCEPT for the fact that the internal storage free space is showing 800 something megabytes...
PLEASE HELP- Thanks!

Its a bug in the build. As long as you have a ext2-3 partition. Any Rom that is a2sd enabled should see it automagically.
You did nothing wrong. Install any app and look in your system/sd/app folder and see if it is there. If its a paid app? Check system/sd/app-private
Thanks man- I really appreciate it. So far out of a many responses over many threads, you're the only one to give a response.

I recommend using the app -BackUp For Root Users- before wiping and flashing a new rom. On the second page is an option to backup and restore your Market Database file. I assume you can probably back up the same file using Terminal but I'm no expert on it, nor do I know the location of the Android Manifest file. If you save this file and restore it after a fresh install it will restore your My Downloads section in the Market and thus show you when updates are available.
As for currently, you'll have to reinstall your apps from the market first.

Opera cache and low memory

Hi,
I now have 32 MB Storage left, and it is decreasing constantly. I read here that Opera cache could steel a lot of space. When looking I found quite a number of files in the windows/opera9/profile/cache-folder. Can I delete all of them, including the subdirectory revocation?
And next to the cache folder there is the cacheOp-folder containing 3 files only. Is this a different cache folder of some sort?
If you have other advice as to delete and/or move files/folders to save Storage space, I would be gateful
I have a 16 GB storage card still with lots of space.

leo hints and tips thread on the first page should help you out.
hunt down the "ram disk"thread. I have a 16 meg opera cache on the ram disk and opera flies.plus because its in ram it clears out every soft reset.
I had 40 mb in opera cache although i only setup 4 mb - but i expect it to be a limit per session, right?
Thanks! I will do some reading and testing - at least I should get some free Storage space from it

Internal Memory

Hi, can anyone help me? my internal memory is at about 20MB and i already moved my apps to my sd card, what can i do?
Please......
Try going into clockwork and wiping your cache.
Now I Have 26.5MB What Else can i do??
Clear cache on your browser um...dunno what else if I think of anything else I'll reply back
Also clear cache on market
wow i just got it to 40MB by deleting some data from facebook and some other apps. any other tips?
Other than deleting apps that's about it. You could move all your ringtones to the sd card. Since they're located on /system that should free up a little room, not much, but some.
EDIT: get Cache Cleaner from the market, it makes clearing all your caches a one click process.
Sent from my cm6.1 Aria using XDA App
if you have the newest version of google maps, it stores a cache of maps on your phone so that you can access them offline/offnetwork. you can clear this and it may give you upwards of 40 mb back depending on maps usage.
If you're rooted, install Dark Tremor's Apps2SD - and then move all your apps back to internal memory. Why? Because it will move all your apps (except system apps) to an EXTn partition on your SD card, which the phone thinks is internal memory. Also, you can move your Dalvik cache to your SD card. I went from 20% free internal memory to 70% free almost instantly this way.
Can you do something like this on rooted phone??

Make a partition of SD card and link apps to SD
Just Google how to link to SD
U will get hundreds of results
Prefer xda ones
If u r a noob watch a video after reading the procedure ...
Hit thanks
If u still have doubts after doing all this post here ... we can help

jonny789 I would love to know how you managed that if you are properly using Link2SD - just how many apps have you got installed?!
If you partition the SD using CWM recovery and choose 1024mb and 0mb at the two options (after backing up all data to the pc of course!) then reboot the phone when you open Link2SD it should ask you to confirm the type (EXT2/3/4 or FAT etc) - I pick EXT3 or 4 cos sometimes one won't work and I get an error so just use the other.
You will now have a second (hidden) partition and if you set your default save location to "External" all the apps you install will go to the main partition on the SD card. From there you can move them to internal storage (widgets, system apps like keyboards etc) or (preferably) link files to SD which will move a good chunk of the data to that hidden partition.
I have never come even close to using that 1gb of extra app storage and my internal memory is currently 61% free (73.04mb used, 117mb free). Of course lots of games and apps work just fine from the external storage anyway so you can just leave them there instead of linking them - really it is up to you.
The other way to use link2SD to free up internal memory is the system apps - you can uninstall a fair few of these to free up system memory which you can then use by converting non-system apps to system ones - this moves them from the "internal memory" to the "system memory" and hey presto you have more internal available. NOTE: Uninstalling system apps can bugger up your phone - search and read about it before you do this!
If you have already tried all of this then I apologise and humbly ask you to post a list of your installed apps so that we may all wonder at just how you managed to use all that internal memory lol
Cheers
Stokey

Why is my internal storage so full?

So ES File explorer says my internal storage is 22.8 GB / 23.3 GB (98% full) I have disabled the recycle bin, and estrongs folder is only 12 MB. I try going through all the folders and checking their size, and I can't add up to more than a few hundred MB.
I plug my phone in to my computer to see if it will be faster for me to look around, and sure enough, Windows says there are 517 MB free out of 23.2 GB. I look around, and once again, I can't find any large folders.
Going to Applications > Settings > System > Storage on the phone shows 31.5 GB used out of 32.0 GB.
Samsungs "My Files" app also shows the same as above.
Both My Files and ES File Explorer show 98-99% of the internal storage is taken up by "other" files. What could this be? How do I get rid of it?
+1 Interested as well. My others is 500mb but I'd like to be proactive, since I can't find the "other" files.
Thanks in advance.
I was having the same issue a while back. I suddenly got a notification that my device storage was almost full. What confused me was that I barely download much and most of what I save is on my SD card. Tried deleting apps and stuff but the storage seems to fill up on its own somehow.
Though I eventually found it to be cache saved on the phone. I used CCleaner from the PlayStore and I cleared up around 17 GB of cache... which is a lot. Try using a cache/file cleaning app like CCleaner or similar and see if it works for you as well. I haven't noticed any changes on my phone either so I still wonder what stacked up so much cache!

I just tried CCleaner, and it "deleted" 13.76GB Thumbnail Cache. But right above that it still says I have 22.53GB/24.19GB used.
Like many others in this thread I am trying to locate the hidden data on my inetrnal storage, no tool I have tried thus far will tell me where pr what this data is and allow me to nuke it manually. Doing a factory reset is not only rediculous but counter intuative - I shdould be able see WTF this data is and bloody well nuke it.
