Two app requests - G1 General

Hi,
Could anybody recommend any apps to do the following:
1) Turn off mobile services (Eg, disconnect from the network) between certain hours? I would effectively like the phone in airplane mode during night time.
2) Vibrate every XX minutes when I notification arrives - Eg, if I miss the (faint) vibrate I'd like it to do as my previous phone did; Vibrate, for example, every 5 minutes stopping only when the notification has been acknowledged.
If any of these are possible please point me in the direction of the relevant apps.
If not and anybody feels a coding change... Feel free
Cheers.

SPD phone suite will do both.

Cannot seem to find that app in the Market. In the UK if that matters.
Any ideas?
Any alternative software?
Cheers.

Don't know of anything to turn airplane mode on. But what I've done is use Locale to make my phone completely silent at night, then turn the sounds back on at a specific time in the morning.
dgAlert will let you customize vibrate and repeating vibrate for text messages.

Oh sorry didnt know the dream was Android !
SPB is here http://beta.spbsoftwarehouse.com/products/phonesuite/

Thanks for the replies. Will check out dgAlert - If that can repeated vibrate for calls too that would be immense... Will definitely check it tonight.
About Locale; I tried that however setting it to (For example) make the phone silent between 2300 - 0700. It makes the phone silent at 2300 but does not re-enable the ringer at 0700 (Or at least the "silent" icon still remains - One of the two!). Is this the correct behaviour? Or should it be automatically turning the ringer back at at 0700? I'd imagine I can work around by having "Sleep" at 2300-0700 and "Don't Sleep" at 0700-2300 but I'm curious as to why it doesn't work currently. Should simply "Sleep" between 2300-0700 work?
Cheers.
PS - This is non-rooted if that makes a difference.

With regards to locale, did you make sure you placed a default setting for it to revert back to? I had similar problems before I told local what the default settings outside of the conditions I imposed where.... (wifi would NEVER turn back on... etc)

I set up another Locale scenario to re-enable sound 1 minute after the "sleep" one ended. I don't know if there's an easier way (default settings were mentioned, that might work), but it works for now.

Thanks for the replies guys - You got it spot on; It hadn't any defaults! Set the defaults and now Locale works like a charm
Now I have locale turn off wifi bluetooth etc at "Sleep" and turn them back on afterwards... Sorted!
My only outstanding request now is the repeated vibrate - To clarify this further I would actually like an app that will send a repeated vibrate every XX mins for any notification in the notification bar (Eg, SMS, email, missed call). dgAlert may be able to manage it for SMS but I'm not sure about for other things. It also appears to have problems with other apps from a quick google.
Any software that will allow repeated vibration alerts (Until acknowledged - Eg, removed from notifications) for all notifications? That would be simply brilliant!
Cheers.

Just wanted to tip you off about Bedtime.
When you run this program, it only lets phonecalls through. Everything else is kept silent. You will also get a nice full screen watch

Thats great - Thanks; I'll be sure to check it out!
Now have many solutions for the night time problem... Only now to find a real good solution for repeated notifications - Any ideas welcome! Thanks...

Can someone post the APK for Locale? I don't have access to the market.
Cheers!

Really after something to do repeated vibrate on notifications... Anything available? I've checked the market but I'm not sure if something exists which does it but not exlusively (Hence hard to tell from program name).
Any suggestions?
Cheers.

there is DgAlert, SMS POPUP (the new version has repeat notification) a few others i can not think of right now.

As far as I can tell, though, they only repeat notifications for SMS?
Any chance they now repeat for all notifications? If not, any others?
Cheers.

Alarm Clock Nightmare

I did do a quick search, but couldn't find owt, but can't believe I'm the only person with problem.
I use the supplied Clock & Alarms for my alarm clock, but sometimes if I'm using something else on the phone, or already have notifications like missed calls when my alarm is due to go off, if will still sound, and vibrate, but won't come up with a message about it. Giving me no option to turn the thing off!!!
So it will go off fow a minute or two, then go quiet, then every five minutes will repeat, again with no message.
Even if I reset the device it will still continue.... I either have to wait for a message to come up, which can take 30+minutes, or if I get really annoyed with it clean reset it :-/
If anyone does know how I can get rid of this error, or what file I can load to give me the message, it will be much appreciated!!!
alarms and repeating alarms are well known to be highly unreliable.
spb pocket plus has an add in to assist with repeating alarms, but I never found it much help.
may i suggest you dont repeat them, this is a big problem.
mine got so bad after a while I had no choice but hard reset. it messed up all the system notifications and just became plain unreliable.
Yes, I've had exactly the same problems and also with Spb Pocket Plus repeating alarms too.
I've since disabled this option which has made things bettr but still not perfect

at least your alarm goes off, mine does not. an expensive device like the xda exec and a simple thing like the alarm wont work after new o2 rom update
:? :?
Does that mean if I use alarms, but don't select "repeat sound", that may be better?
I upgraded to the i-Mate ROM, and TWICE now the notification queue has died for the calupd.exe and calnot.exe. Adding appointments with alarms make no additions to the notification queue, hence I miss all my alarms.
The only fix so far has been to hard reset, and wait for the next time the notification queue dies.
Are you using Sprite Backup?
I found it to be the culprit and I have switched to SBP Backup now.
Sprite CRMdesk will give you a patch "PostBootPopup.exe" if requested that helps the problem. It solves the many notifications in the queue that can't be cleared or dismissed normally. But the issue of not waking for any alarms remained for me with Sprite 5 - even with this patch.
works perfect for me!
I just added my own sound file which has a little more agressive waking properties ;-)
If you're stuck with an invisible alarm you cant get rid off, you can use scarybear's "check notifications" proggie and take out the notification which has messed up....

But be warned, if you are careful it can work, but I got aggressive and frustrated.
The only, hard reset. There are some you can, some you cant.
Bewarned.

Phone Settings and Reminder settings not sticking

All of a sudden, my XDA no longer saves settings for my phone or for reminders. For example, I have to constantly change my ringer to Vibrate and Ring, then (after a reboot I'm assuming) it changes back to just Ring.
For reminders, Flash Light and Play Sound (one of the most important things!) have to keep getting rechecked after a reboot. I'd rather not rebuild as I have a LOT of apps on this device.
Does anyone know of reg settings or any other way to get this to stop resetting?
Thanks in advance,
Marc

Im having the same problem i think!
My phone keeps vibrating without playing a ringtone, even though its set to "Vibrate and ring".
it's like its always on "vibrate mode", no matter what i try to do.
what rom are you using??
I am using the O2 ROM upgrade straight from their site. It was fine for the longest time; just noticed it about a week ago.
It could be something in your notification queue, this is the cause of most alarm/reminder/profile problems. I recently posted a long and detailed HOWTO for anyone that needs to fix or just spring clean their notification queue, check it out:

replace HTC Home

I am trying to replace HTC Home, i dont like how slow it makes my phone. The idea is to have a bunch of different plugins and such in UltimateLaunch.
these are the main things I want in UltimateLaunch, and I was wondering if you guys could help me out in finding them?
clock
I really liked the look of the clock in HTC Home, I used the DigitalGlow Yellow one. does anyone know of a good clock today plugin that i could use in UL?
photo contact dialer
This feature was awesome. I found one today screen app that was ripped from a TREO 700w (link) but it seems to run really slowly. It gets the job done, but I was wondering if you guys had any suggestions for a faster one?
weather
I have tried Pocketweather and SPB weather but didnt like either of them. I just want an app that has the current conditions, and a few days in advance, do you guys have any ideas?
Thanks for looking at my post and helping out. If i could find all of this stuff, it would be amazing.
What about the automatic ringer? that one feature is why I use HTC Home
what do you mean by automatic ringer?
Search for rlToday. I think some have used it to make an HTC Home like today screen. I think dcd has offered to share his code if asked.

On the 6-tab version... I belive it's the far right tab: the one that lets you select sound off, vibrate and ringer on. The far right option: automatic ringer. Best feature ever on a phone.
spb phone plugin offers automatic ringer also, if by automatic you mean that it goes silent when you are in a meeting and such.
I assume that's what they mean... i have htc home and it automatically goes into vibrate when i'm in meetings, it is a nice feature for the forgetful mind... now if everyone's phone did it. maybe at the movies too that would be a nice feature

what does it actually do? like how does it work? time based? and where are the settings? i only use silent and vibrate.
Turns off the ringer when you have an outlook appointment schedueled as 'busy' (default appointment)
I set my classes as a recurring appointment (as well as finals) so the phone ringer automatically turns off when a class starts. As to not piss off professors, embarass myself and/or bother with turning off and on the ringer several times a day.
works for meeting, etc. as well, of course

I have my phone set to vibrate and ring. If I set it to automatic, will it not ring and still vibrate, or is there a registry setting to set it that way?

Have exact same problem, think there must be something related to the amount of time the phone has been in standby too, if I test an alarm, by setting it to go off in 10 mins for example, it works fine, left overnight, never works....
I had issues with the alarm after using Klaxxon and uninstalling it.
I am currently testing to try and get it working each time and seems to be ok.
I reinstalled Klaxxon ticked force remove windows alarms and intergrate applyed the changed and soft booted the phone.
I then started klaxxon again and remove both ticks and soft reset again.
I then used AlarmFixWM to remove duplicate entries from the notification queue.
Not 100% if this now works 100% but seems promising.
Im sure there is an easier way but the above its what I did.
Found this thread which seems to be related
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=333521
Have installed SK tools, cleaned notification queue and set it to run cleanup auto in middle of night....
Alarm actually went off this morning...
Hardly conclusive, but gives me hope!
Odd, seems to be a longstanding WM2003/5/6/6.1 issue, not TD2 specific, but I moved to topaz from an artemis where I never had a single alarm problem... you would think if the artemis hardware could cope with my appointments list/alarms etc. then a topaz would be fine too...
P.
Alarm sounded again this morning
Happy Days...
Will post back here if problem reoccurs,
Otherwise, assume this has worked for me.

1) Fire up SK Tools
2) Hit Tools (Bottom Right) --> Settings
3) 2nd Tab "Automation"
4) Toggle "Notifications Queue" to "Use in Auto Mode" if it isn't already
(Take a look through other run options to run and deselect them if you don't want them running automatically)
5) Toggle "Scheduled Run" to "Yes"
6) Set time/day/date etc. to run (Mine is set to run at 3.30am every day, probably overkill!)
7) Set "Silent Mode" to "Yes"
and you are good to go
Alternatively, to fix your Notifications Queue just once:
1) Fire up SK Tools
2) Category (Bottom Left) --> Maintenance
3) Select "Notifications Queue"
4) Action (Bottom Left) --> Mark Duplicates (should be a fair few if you are having alarm problems)
5) Action (Bottom Left) --> Delete Marked
Hope this helps, post back if not!
Good Luck
Pauly
Thanks Pauly, ill see if G-alarm wakes me up in the morning!!
Dunno if you guys can help, i got Klaxon and alarm is fine, but if i snooze using shake then it never goes off again!
Can you show me your settings or give me any ideas?
My solution: Whatever alarm you have, install HTCPedia Topaz Setting Tool, go to Power Settings and set AC Resuming and Battery Resuming to 20 seconds, works EVERY DAY for me with Klaxxon.
That change made no difference when I was having my difficulties, think that gives the device longer to process your notifications queue if it is large, but if the notifications queue has other issues then it won't help.
P.
Edit: SFAIK Think G-Alarm changes both of these registry values to 120 seconds on installation, That is what they are set to on my TD2
they are located in HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\Power\Timeouts\ if you wish to edit directly,
"BattResumingSuspendTimeout" and "ACResumingSuspendTimeout"
But does that fix the snooze function?

doesn't sound like the same problem you have to be honest, the notifications queue stuff is related to the alarm never going off in the first place...
I'm not a klaxon user, but have had it installed in the past, are you sure that you don't have the light sensor alarm deactivation switched on or it set to switch the alarm off (rather than snooze) on shake?
P.
Thanks for replying mate, how would i know about the light sensor bit?

I thought there was an option in Klaxon itself to use the light sensor to deactivate the alarm when a light is switched on?
Ah... Ok... just checked Klaxon release docs and it seems that isn't implemented yet... so thats a red herring!
It does say though... flip phone over to snooze
and shake to deactivate
I'm guessing that whatever you are doing is triggering the deactivation rather than the snoozing....!
One way to check, if you enable the integration to TF3D in klaxon then the time noted for the next alarm on your front page should increment to the next alarm set once the alarm has been deactivated, but not if it is snoozed, I think anyway.
P.
hey, yeah sorry i turn it over! it used to work with stock rom i think .. do you know what each option does in klaxxon? might just try g-aram or something?

No, sorry not sure, guess there is some sort of sensitivity set somewhere where it determines whether you are shaking or just turning over, I used to use the turn over function in klaxon when I had it and it worked fine... in G-alarm I get what you describe btw the sensitivity is set such that when I turn it over it thinks I'm shaking it and deactivates, so that may not provide the fix you are after either... and G_alarm isn't free... if you hunt around, I'm sure there was another klaxon thread on here (possibly by the developer himself) that had some details of the sensitivity being changed between releases, may be a reg edit you can do to fine tune it?
Good Luck!

Silent mode on Nexus 6 workaround

Hi there!
I know there are a few threads about it, BUT I thought as no one obviously knows about the workaround for putting the Nexus 6 in silent mode without the need of an app, I decided to make a seperate thread. It's working on Stock ROM, you don't have to be rooted.
This is how it works:
- Put the phone all the way down to vibrate with the volume down key
- Then tap once on the volume up key so you are on - lets call it "volume step one"
- Now reboot your phone
Congrats, silent mode is back! Unfortunately, you have to do it all over again, if you change the volume once...

Wait, am I missing something here?
Why not hit the volume button then select "none" from the options of "none, priority, all"?
Enters silent mode pretty easily for me!

I think what people liked about silent mode was it allowed Alarms through. "None" means no sounds or alarms. Priority mode with just Alarms set as priority isn't a workaround because some Apps can still emit sounds. The main problem with this new notification system aside from the fact that it eliminated a couple of real world use case scenarios is it is just flat out not intuitive.

I use Tasker a lot too, and for many things. And I can't remember now, but what about vibration? I mean in "real" silent mode, vibration is off. If you only set media and ringtone to 0, does your phone still vibrate? I mean in Lollipop you can't even turn vibration off, right?
So my phone is on silent without vibration, so that only my G Watch R vibrates on calls and notifications, with alarms going off on the phone as usual...

That's correct, there currently is no silent, I did read that they were doing something with the sound settings in 5.1 but not exactly sure what that will look like. I am pretty sure you could get silent back some how if you were to root the phone but I am not ready to go there yet. Other than using a little battery I don't mind the vibration, as is I can get 2 days on a charge without too much effort.

Specifically for apps, you have to flag them as priority for their notifications to go through. Otherwise, in Sounds & Notifications settings you can specify "Priority Interruptions" which you can select system Events and reminders (alarms), Calls and Messages you want to go through.
I use it for meetings and class... so far it has yet to allow a notification that I haven't set to priority.

What the other poster probably meant is that apps can bypass Priority mode. This has been thoroughly documented, and according to Google it's "working as intended". Some apps have already fixed it, like Whatsapp, and very recently, FB messenger, but other big ones like Viber and Skype are yet to do it. It's a big nuisance that one has to depend on app developers to conform in order for such an important OS function to work correctly.

You can get the app Nights Keeper, it will do the old silent mode and more. The free version should be enough for simple silent mode, but the premium is only a couple bucks. The actionable notification and the widget are awesome. No root required.
