problem with syncronization - Touch 3G General

hi guys i'm enjoing my great touch jade, but i encountered an annoing problem in syncronization: i can easily install activesync (i'm on xp pro sp3 and i've got office pro 2003) but when i connect my jade to pc nothing happen.. i mean, the phone start charging, but no sync go and windows send me a message about unidentified device, i haven't driver... how can i manage this situation? i'm trying since 4 days.. 've tryed softreset, searched everywhere and it seems that i need driver for a net-adapter NDIS.. i tought an activesync corrupted files, i downloaded from microsoft.com, but didn't work anyway. is activesync that don't install driver or my jade that got something wrong? i also tryed to change the usb cable.. isn't my cable..
nothing works...
sry for my unperfect english, i'm managing learning!

Have you tried unchecking start>settings>connections>usb to pc?

Two things you can check:
1. Check on a different comp if you can. I suspect a problem with the usb port on your computer. If you can, try plugging it into another usb port and trying that again.
2. Check the connector pins on your jade. Sometimes they get bent the wrong way and that causes the device to not be recognized when connected.

You should be able to see the pins using your naked eye as well. Their in the mini usb/charging port on your phone.
Would you be able to check this using another WM phone? Does any other device work on your comp? Mp3 players, camera devices etc? Are those detected?

When you plug in the device and windows asks you for drivers, check "install from a list or specific location" and in the following dialog point "include this location in the search" to "C:\Program Files\Microsoft ActiveSync\Drivers" if your system is an english one...for other lang adjust accordingly. this should install all necessary drivers and render it working...

now i'm at work, but i tried yet this operation, and it tell me that no driver is installed for this device.... -.-
the real problem is that when i install activesync, he don't update the system with the right driver for my jade... i tryed on my girlfriend pc, she's got xp home and its the same... at now i can't try on vista, because the only one i know who use vista is on holiday... but i wanna find that shi##ing problem and solve it...

ActiveSync works fine with my WinXP SP 3.
When i connected Jade the first time XP asked for a driver. I ignored this.
Then I installed ActiveSync from one of the CDs that come with Jade.
Of course, you will also have to select ActiveSync (not "drive") on your jade when you connect it to the PC.

i writed in microsoft forum and sended a mail to htc to have fixed drivers.. i'll let you know if i manage..

update:
at now i can't manage to sync...
tried hard reset, asked microsoft for help, and htc too, they said i can have a hardware problem on my touch, cause nor in my friend laptop with vista can get drivers.. from htc they told me they can replace my touch with a new one...
i think i'll get this way...

Any ideas guys??
Hi,
Yes I have it working with both USB / BT :=)
Try this procedure.
1. Download this file.
http://www.download.windowsupdate.c..._847432eec73e750d6d8056881f52a39fbc94587a.exe
2. Extract it using winrar. This will give you a file "wmupdate.msi"
3. Now be sure to logon to Vista as the built in admin and run "wmupdate.msi" and after that reboot and again login as built in admin, let it complete the install.
4.Login as your regular user, connect you phone and all should work:=)

Hi,
I'm running 5472 as well, but the update (from the file name) looks like it's mean for build 5460. Are you sure this is compatible with 5472? I just wanna make sure because I had just reinstalled my OS and don't want to go through the trouble of breaking it Of course, there's always system restore, but it can be a PITA for me sometimes.
tried it but dont seem to work, setup starts then vista picks up a new device, out of interest what does your wizard show up as in device manager? It couldnt auto find a driver, so i browsed to activesync dir and there was loads of MS drivers, also HTC drivers, i tried to choose HTC pocket pc but didnt work, its obviously not the Wizard drive its after as the wizard wasnt even plugged in.

Oh yeah, now I remember... 5472 was being a real pain with my MDA. I can't remember what I did exactly to fix the driver issue, but I believe I just pointed it to the root directory of the CD that came with the phone when it prompted for drivers. Just be persistent with it, and it should finally install
BTW, the file provided above works! It does install an older build of WMDC, but it doesn't seem to affect anything. The build provided with 5472 only works if you choose "quick connect", instead of establishing a partnership.

I had the Start CD that came with the device put in and it found the drivers needed from that auto.
And sure enough the provided file is for an older build but for me at least it does work.
And it shows up as "your username Windows Mobile-based device" in WIndows Explorer..see attached snapshot"

Oh I just looked at my initial reply and one thing I forgot to mention
I had to run the wmupdate.msi i file from a command prompt, and that also had to be started with administrator priviliges.

Help: USB Device Not Recognized

Hi! I've tried searching the forums but I can't seem to find the solution to my problem. I have installed activesync 4.5 on Win XP Sp 2, but when I connect my HTC Touch, it says USB device not recognized and therefore I can't perform a sync. I did a hard reset on the phone but it still won't work. Do I need to download a separate usb driver for the phone? If yes, where can I get it? Thanks.
Have you tried putting the usb wire on different slots of you pC? If still not working borrow a wire from someone and see if still problem arises~. No extra usb driver is req.

Hi! Thanks for the reply. I did try with other cables and it's still not working. I don't think it's the wire or the usb slots because I can sync my other phones, an HTC Magic and a Nokia phone without any problems.
Is there a USB driver for HTC Touch? Maybe that can solve my problem...
Hi
Try Settings/connections/Usb to pc and uncheck everything beside the first option, this is the 1st action I take after flashing.

Another thought: can you sync over bluetooth? if yes the prob is hardware...
And if nothing works try flashing from SDcard.. That's all I can think of...
Also check the firewall settings too

Haven't tried to sync over bluetooth... I can't find my BT dongle. I'll do that once I get hold of my BT. Btw, how do I flash a rom from an SDcard? Thanks again for all the help.

But try the 2 other options first, did you try to stop all firewalls ?

[Q] Question!

Hi,
I have a XV6900 (and I just registered on this site as well ), and it has the WM6.1 loaded on it. I wanted to put the NFSFans WM6.5 as the OEM ROM is too bloated.
I have 2 problems:
1) I have got windows-7 64 bit.
2) I am using some camera MicroUSB to USB cable.
I can see my Phone in the "My Computer", but the Windows Mobile Device Center does not recognize the device. Is this because I am not using the cable that came in the box?
Has anyone used windows 7/vista 64 bit to flash and update ROM?
Any help would be GREATLY appreciated.

How does it show in device manager?
For me, it shows "error" inside the device manager, thats it. But I can access trhough it my computer. Also if I could install the .Net Framework 3.5 from the PC to computer, when I ran the executable, it detected the phone. The device manager doesnt recognize it, and nor does the unlocker..
any ideas??

Plug in the phone. Go in to device manager, right click and uninstall. Check the box about deleting the driver if it shows. Uninstall wmdc. Reboot. Install wmdc. Plug in the phone. Good luck!

Isn't there a special set of drivers that need to be installed under W7 x64? If you can, get a hold of an XP machine.
I install1ed the WMDC 6.1 driver, which also installs the WMDC. After the installation, I can see 2 entries in the add/remove programs, one for driver and one for software, so I guess thats not the problem.
I wish I had a XP machine..!

Looked at the screenie - it shouldn't say htc sync. I assume, at some point, you loaded the htc sync software?
I attached a screenie of my wmdc about. does it match yours? wish I had my winmo vogue here today...
Wow.you are lucky it works..! I am stuck with this..real bad!
I checked, its the exact same version number of WMDC, and the device ID is different..
Also, I never installed any HTC software..I dont even know that HTC sync exists..!
any more suggestions..??
Also when I install the WMDC, it alsways says "device not plugged in" while installing the driver, and driver install failed. This happens even when the device is plugged in..
Thanks for your help!

[Q] Problem! Please Help

Hi
I have had a search through the forums and didn't seem to find what I was looking for.
Here is my problem:
I have trouble getting my phone connected with activesync when I connect it via the USB cable, when I plug the cable in it starts to charge the phone but nothing else happens.
It used to work.
I have tried on a Vistas as well with the same issue.
I have tried BT and gets connected to activesync.
I have tried the solution to remove the tick under settings, connections and USB2PC.
I have tried 2 or more cables.
I have tried hard resetting the phone.
I have tried removing the USB devices on my PC.
Any other suggestions?
Help much apreciated.

Have you tried re-installing ActiveSync on your computer ? Are you using XP or Vista?
I "just" had the same problem on my XP. Even when attempting to reinstall it,
it would not connect. I couldn't remove the program either from the uninstaller.
Found this info: On your computer Click _ start - run - then type the following: fixapi - then hit enter.
Don't have a clue what it did but was able to install again and up and running.
I have a Vista also but have not needed it on that one so I don't know if it works on Vista. Hope this helps you, cause I know it was pissing me off when I couldn't get mine to work.
Good luck.
By the way, what phone are you using and also did you try to download the Activesync 4.5 from the net & install ?

Ok, windows 7 is probably your problem. After XP, which activesync worked on, Vista was changed to Windows Mobile Device Center, which works very similar to activesync. I assume you've never had it working. Support ended with XP.
Windows 7 also uses Windows Mobile Device Center which should already be on your computer. If not check out this link out:
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsphone/en-us/apps/65-downloads.aspx
If already installed on computer it should open by itself. if it doesn't, attempt to open it yourself. 1st sync you have to set it up, what to sync, media, pics, etc.
Should be pretty easy for you to fix this. Pay attention whether your using a Windows 7 - 32bit or 64bit system.
By the way, don't downgrade to XP. Defeats the purpose of having windows 7. There is an option to run XP on a windows 7 systems so you can run older programs on it but since I don't own a windows 7, yet, I'm not that knowledgeable about it. Just google - running xp on windows 7 and you should find a lot of information.
no success

Ok, your starting to lose me here. You can sync Win 7 with Bluetooth. Can you connect it with the USB conn ? What exactly are you trying to do ?
Activesync should work on your laptop, if it's installed. You trying to connect it with bluetooth or USB.
Is activesync "on" your phone ? Is the phone a stock T-Mobile or flashed ?
Again, activesync is "only" for XP.
What are you syncing on the computer ?

Ok, win 7 I can't help you with. Check your computer for Usb drivers !!! Maybe do a hard reset of the phone and start from scratch, after backing up what you want. If you can sync with bluetooth but not usb, it would almost have to be the something with the drivers or the phone.
As far as the laptop that's running XP, do as I suggested in above post - Start - Run - (type): fixmapi - enter. Then re-install activesync. Check usb drivers on the laptop. Re-download if necessary.
The fact that you cannot connect to either computer with usb suggests to me that it's probably the phone. Do a hard reset and retry.
Hope this helps, let me know ? Would definitely piss me off too.
By the way, if your using the same cable with both computers, switch it out for a different cable and then try to connect before hard resetting, might be the cable.

HTC HD2 Drivers won't install Win 7 x64

Anyway to manually get the drivers for it? I can't find them and I can't sync my device to my computer. Windows Mobile Device Center won't work at all, it doesn't recognize my HD2 and it says the driver installation fails.
Can someone help me out please? Thanks
Windows Mobile Device Centre was all I never needed on my win7 x64. I installed the program before inserting the HD2 though. Obviously make sure you have the program up and running before plugging in the HD2 and selecting activesync on it; It should load up. You could uninstall the driver (from device manager) and start again if all else fails.
What if it does not?
Started doing that "cant recognize" issue while installing NAND (at the radio installation process -r: 2.15., compatible)
Figured to go to stock WinMo with SDCard, but it still cant..
Faster data sync disabled, after that it tried to install the drivers again, but says it fails...
Gotta go to ms and install the updated win mob dev c. The one that ships needs updating.
Also, once you are into the android side of things you should open wmdc, connection settings, and turn off allow usb connections, and install the android usb drivers.
Thanks mate, but done everything, I mean everything. Now I'm totally stock, original SPL and original WWE ROM, everythings working like a charm, besides connecting to a PC. Also tried with another computer (XP) and another cable. I can say I've done everything I found on the net, but nothing helps. Uninstalling driver, uninstalling HTC Sync etc etc etc... It just cant recognize the USB..

I have been using it win 7 64 bit since the beginning. and I never have a problem with the driver.
Try redownload and reinstall Windows Mobile Device Center from Microsoft website.
Only connect your device after the driver has been properly installed.
in device manager delete usb controller after software installation.
Thanks to ALL, but changing the USB cable, so sure that's ALL? =)
I'm not gonna mention that I've written that I've tried it with many computers and many cables. =)
The phone is sent to HTC and they told me that they ordered a new mainboard.
Hope doesn't take too much time. My Service Provider gave me a Galaxy 7500.. Cupcake, no market.. arrrgh!
Thinking of buying an iPhone and selling it after two weeks but that's gonna cost me $200 loss in two weeks. too much =)
As doing some thinking.. the device cannot "introduce" itself to the computer. I couldn't find a more sense making answer.
If you've tried hard-resetting, cable and PC changing, if it's still not working, then there should be a problem about the phone, mostly about the mainboard.
I suggest anyone having that problem go make your phone check at a service, of course if you have warranty. =)
