No Reception - P3400 General

Hey guys,
I have been using the P3400 for quite sometime, it has an amazing reception quality. But a month ago, it decided to mess with my head and now it wont give me reception properly, sometimes it connect after 10 long minutes of searching for a network and sometimes it doesn't get any reception. I have tried cleaning out the sim compartment but it still has the same problem. I have also tried changing ROMS but nothing really happens, the problem persists.
I would appreciate any kind of help with this issue.
Thanks.

constantly dropping service

I've had my wizard (cingular 8125) for just a little but over a year, but this past month I've had some abnormal issues with it.
I've dropped this phone a few times, but randomly this past month I have noticed a severe amount of service dropping in different forms.
Sometimes I'll be on the phone and it will randomly drop and start searching for a signal, in a well serviced area. Sometimes I'll be texting, and it will have service(2-6bars, enough for texting) but it will refuse to send the message, and when I try to call, it says invalid sim, and I have to reboot.
Sometimes If I am lucky, when the service drops it will pick it up within 20 seconds, it can take up to 5min, and sometimes I have to restart it.
This phone has been stock up untill this problem started (no rom flashing/anything) I tried unlocking it and trying different roms on it recently as a last ditch effort to fix this annoying problem. If anyone knows of a solution to this problem, I'd be really appreciative of it, otherwise im getting a new phone
While my first instinct is to convince you to sell me your otherwise functioning phone on the cheap, I must resort to being the good guy (or else get spanked by the mods...)
There is a registry fix for the kind of signal dropping you're describing. I'm surprised you went for so long without experiencing the problem. I did almost right away when I got mine last year. You should try it first, if you haven't already...
I think this is the one I used:
http://www.pocketpctweaks.com/pocketpc_tweaks/fix_drop_calls
i don't think its a Rom problem,as signal reception is not depended on the Rom,its an OS,rather its more depended on the Radio Rom (GSM) of the phone.Usually,by upgrading the Radio Rom improves the signal reception quality.Instead of flashing different roms, try to flash different Radio Roms and check if it improves the signal quality.
But,here,I think, perhaps, the problem lies more on the hardware part then the Radio Rom. as you say,it has been dropped a couple of times,it may be the the External Antenna cover has lost proper connection with the Internal antenna connection.Check the fastening clips which snap in to secure the External antenna cover to the internal are properly secured in and have not come off, are not loose or broken, which might be causing it to not having proper connection.
Cheers!
Well i tweaked those settings and tore this baby apart, and honestly the service was dramatically improved for this entire week, untill thursday, when service began dropping and it began to start telling me my sim was invalid. So I'm kinda lost here, it seems no one else has had this type of issue....
And on a sidenote I am unable to connect to gprs or edge to send pictures via mms. I noticed this after I started flashing different roms, so I think its software related. I did however download that .cab package floating around that has all the cingular media net settings. But when I try to send a picture my phone just seems kinda lost lol
bump!
I reflashed the rom to the official htc cingular rom, and that fixed the edge/gprs issue, but service is still bad.... Id like to try some different radio roms before totally giving up hope on this thing, but this site has seem to take down its ftp.... anyone have any wizard radio roms uploaded? preferably ones that work well with cingular/ at&t here in the US.... thanks
bump... guess no one has any ideas=(..... but since the ftp is back up ill try some radio roms

Sim/signal issues

My phone seems to be experiencing some random problems at the moment. It seems too have problems locating my carriers signal. My wife has the same carrier and her phone almost always has signal, even when directly next to mine.
Anyways, on top of that it seems that when I restart my phone, both soft reset and just turning it off and back on I seem to have full signal during the start up of the phone. Once the phone is fully started I will briefly have signal, then the phone will not recognize the sim. Once the sim is located I cannot get signal.
I feel this is some kind of software issue, as I very rarely get get signal, but in the middle of a call i will usually get the missing sim message.
Should I send this out to have it fixed or does anyone on here think they have a solution?
I have searched this forum as well as google looking for something similar but have not come up with any answers.
thanks in advance!

same problem with sim/signal
I have the same problem...i have been searching on the internet for weeks, yet I haven't found the solution. I have also sent it in to HTC and they returned it to me quickly saying there was no problem. I upgraded the ROM to WM 6.1, but that did not take care of the problem. Please let me know if you find a solution.

After much research, and trial and error with multiple settings/ideas I tried thinking outside the box. I had my sim replaced by T-mobile..... problem solved so far!
I should have tried this about 4 weeks ago. Hope this solves your problems.
Here I have a strange issue...
seems that every time it goes in stan-by, something happens to the radio module and it lost the signal... Only a SR solve it
This means SR each 2 minutes.
I flashed 3 different radios and few Roms (including the original shipped), different sim, but with no luck...
Need some suggestion

My touch hd keeps dropping calls

Hey,
Has anyone else had problems with their HD suddenly cutting of calls even though there is good network coverage? I can have 5 bars of network on the phone, receive a phonecall, talk for a while, then suddenly have the bars drop to 0 and the call being ended. It's getting really annoying at this point.
Also I think the speed of the surfing through network (gprs/edge/hsdpa) has slowed down; it feels as if it doesn't really establish a great connection with the network.
Please tell me you've had this problem and that it's a software issue that is fixable!
Its your 3g network that is dropping calls. I have same problem.
Go to settings, phone and then choose the band tab. Change network from Auto to GSM.
Solves all problems.
I have poor 3g in my home. At home I use gsm mode and when i go back out i switch to auto - 3g mode.
Or it might be because of an old SIM card. If you had yours for a couple of years for example, it might be time to ask for a new one.
i've actually had my sim card for ages, gonna try to order a new one and see if that solves it, thanks for the tip
Let us know!
got the HD and it droped calls all the time. My SIM-card was 5 years old. after changing it worked a lot better but not 100%. Solved that after disabling 3g (bad 3g rec at home), now it works as it should no more dropped calls.
You know.. it would be ideal to have an app that could be assigned to a button press that switches the 3g on and off without needing to go into settings all the time.
I don't use the 3g stuff all that often (mostly wifi) and gsm is fine for sending texts and making calls. Not so sire about mms though.
To be alle to switch it on and off would be ideal and could be used in conjunction with other software to schedule locations or times that would auto switch.
Anyone know of any thing?
i have got the same problem. I have sent my hd to manufacture on warranty. I still waiting on my phone, i let you know what is going on when it will be back to me.
P.S.
sorry about my english
Desperate
Hello to all,
I am having completly same issue with my touch hd.
Expierincing line drops, other side hear me badly or not at all. I tried to update radio roms to 1.09.25.35 and 1.10.25.25 , but ittis the same. Also tried updating ROM to DUTTY HD 1.7.,but it was the same. My network is MTS in Serbia.
Than, I changed finding netwotk to manual, and type of band to GSM (900+1800) UMTS (2100), same result . It looks that this helps a litlle, since I expierence less drops, but I am still unavliable sometimes. Also since my gsm card is 7 years old, I was adviced to change it what I did as well.
This brought even more results, but today, after 5 days of good work in one place (with good reception of 3G) I travell to another city, and you may guess, It started happen again.
All the way phone was loosing signal, calls were droping or even I was unable to make any calls as well.
I am so desperate, and will have to return it to a dealer, although it was my last option...
My was the same problem but it was fix
After I installed couples of upgrade my HD from HTC website and I recieved too many drop call so I uninstalled all the Hot fix . Now every work back to the normal way
Tried that as well, made 2 times hard reset, but no help.
Anyway I had only ine hotfix installed the one for keyboard lag.
I had imprssion in the begining that my problems started with new connection manager database (hotfix that was automaticly installed), but after hard reset everything repeated, so that was not the case....
Same problem here! Total nightmare, is there any possible fix for this or is it just poor quality gsm bits in the phone? Mine picks up such lower signal than any other phone ive had

Ryanmt, It looks that GSM module sucks...Everything else is superb, but, after all this is a phone, isn't it?
I reversed to original ROM (403 WWE), and RADIO ROM (1.09.25.14), removed HardSPL, and now waiting for asome bright idea to try...
I give myself 7 days before waranty claim...
CORRECTION: I left mine HD for warantty today (11.02.), will report on...
Mine went back for warrenty also. Mine went back due to a faulty screen but i noted down it had major signal issues too.
Have you had any update?
I am still waiting for mine. Don't know how long usually takes. Any expiriences?

Im still waiting now is 24th day, but i had sent by carphonewarehouse next time i will send straitgh to htc because cpw is not good.
24 days !? OMG, I hope I won't be that luck. I gave mysef my HD directly to official distributor (same place wher I have bought it) here in Serbia, this is 5th day since I have left it...
HTC told me 5 days from when they receive it.
Sent mine away also
I was experiencing the same problems, even when I had signal it was impossible to call someone(not always but it happends sometimes) and for some reason my FM Radio wasn't working.. I'll try to keep you all informed, if it helped to sent it back to htc..
sounds like htc might be collecting a nice pile of phones with the same symptoms. I wonder if that will prompt them to release a fix of some sort

What kind of signal? GSM, Wifi, Bluetooth?
I'll assume GSM.
Have you tried your SIM in other phone? How about other SIM in the Focus?
Was it working ever? Or it start all of a sudden?
You could try a hard reset, but I doubt it will help.
i had this problem with mine too. I did countless resets ect. It worked for a bit but wouldn't get any EDGE signal. Now I get neither, probably 15% of the time I can weasel some 3g. (literally speaking)
I went on to a Infuse 4g because I didnt have warranty. (which im having battery issues with haha, bad luck or what)
I do want to see if anyone else had this issue and if there's a fix or not, I can pretty much only use the focus as an spiffy zune

You really should try changing the SIM assembly. Look it up, might not be that expensive and beats using the phone as a player.
same here
hey i just bought a new att focus and im having the same problem, im in colombia, and im randomly losing signal and only getting signal again after a couple of reboots any idea anybody?
no signal here too
hi all
i am from india and i recently bought an unlocked samsung focus which was working fine untill yesterday when i switched off and on my phone and there has been no signal ever since. i mean the signal shows up for a brief second every 5-6 hours and then disapears. i have tried 3-4 different sim cards which are working fine in other phones but they dont work in the focus.
i have done nothing to get this behavior from the phone. i have not tried the dev unlock nor tried any hackery with the diagnosis app nothing. just a normal switch off and on and no signal!!!
i am out of luck with warranty as it has only US warranty.
makes sure the radio setting is for your country as well, check apn setting for the internet
I had the issue too. Along with the light sensor and proximity sensor failing.
I think it's a hardware issue, it you're under warranty take it in to get it fixed.
I'm with Rogers wireless in Canada. They sent it to Samsung and they took over a month to fix it! I got it back and the light sensor broke. Called them up, i was livid, and demanded they send me a replacement device. I got one, but now it's restarting randomly
Seems like Samsung doesn't know how to make anything but a pretty screen...
OH WELL you live you learn!

[Q] Cell network disconnect

Hi everyone. I have a problem with my Legend that's been bugging me for a while, but I never got around to post about it. This is the deal: my Legend often drops the connection to the cell network, meaning I lose BOTH call and data capability. At first I used to reboot the phone, which fixed it, then I found out that turning airplane mode on and off would do the trick. Still, it gets old really fast...
I've searched the forum for similar issues but only found some posts about data connectivity loss / poor reception. In my case I don't have complaints about reception, and the problem isn't restricted to data.
The problem appears both in stock Froyo, which I used since it came out, and Cyanogenmod 9, which I installed last week after finally getting around to rooting the thing.
Any clues as to what the problem is, and better yet, whether there's a fix?
Thanks!
