[Solved]Cannot map the BACK key anymore with AE Button plus or MobileMagic - Touch HD General

I cannot assign any actions with AE Button plus 2.6.4 to the back key on my Touch HD any more
I swear i could some days ago, but now i cannot... I use the "Action Key" in the settings of AE Button plus to map the actions should happen after pressing the back button, but nothing happens. All the other Key assignments work fine.

Have the same situation, any hint for a solution?

you can always add the missing button using "file, add button", press it (it will show you keycode "405C"), then "add key". Its added to the list as "Button #405C". Then define behaviour as usual.

Had the same problem. Uninstalled from memory stick and reinstalled to device. Problem Solved. i think it has something to do with the usb connection. When you connect to pc from disk transfer the device cannot see the memory stick and all AE button settings are lost. Hope it Helps.

great thanks I'll check it out!

Still have the problem Maybe some application "destroyed" me something in the configuration of my HD.. any ideas I can fix it?
The key is working, but I cannot assgin any actions to it with AEButton and if I add the key manually (File -> Add KEY) it tells me, that I pushed the WINDOWS KEY , code 405C, is THIS the original code of the HTC back key? Please check if your code is the same

OK fixed it!
Just added the Key 405C manually into the .cfg file, than i assigned some actions to it and restarted. After this I assigned some actions to the OK Key in the AE Button settings and deleted the 405C key, after this it worked PM me if you experience problems!

Poosible to map start menu to a soft key?

I know you can map the start manu to any of the hard buttons but I would like to map it to one of the soft buttons under the screen.
I know how to map the soft buttons to any application but I'm not sure how the start menu is called.
In the "Buttons" setting at "2. Assign a program:" you have to scroll up the list to the entries in "<...>". Those are the various assignable system features. One of it is "<Start Menu>".
For instance I assigned "<Start Menu>" to the Voice Dialer button and
"<OK/Close>" to the Internet Explorer button - very handy....
I want to assign it to one of the soft keys, not one of the keys you can map in "buttos"
Hi everybody,
I made almost the same.
the pitty of this way, it's the hard it becomes to navigate with one hand.
The thing I try to changes is when I use the phone, to set up the arrow key to access to the "Call History" or the "Speed Dial numbers" like with the Blue Angel (QTEK9090).
Does somebody know how to do it?
I tried AEBPlus, which is a freeware app that allows you to map your harware buttons to up to launch up to 3 different apps each (one click for first app, 2 clicks for second, 3 clicks for third). BUT... its not yet designed for the Wizard, so it does not recognize the soft key buttons yet. It also does not recognize the Comms Button...
So when I installed, I mapped IE button to 1 click = "OK" and 2 clicks "IE" and the Messaging button as 1 click = "start" and 2 clicks = "Messaging"
For some reason it remapped my "Comms Button" to "IE" and as I cant see that button any more in "settings/buttons" I cannot change it back  But I have "Comms" set up as one of my "Start menu" items, so I can get to it via the button I mapped to the start menu.
I e-mailed the designer to see if he plans to update it for the Wizard. The wizard is included on his compatibility matrix, so he may be planning to. If he does that and includes the "soft key buttons" and the "comms button" we would be set.
Perhaps anyone else thats interested could e-mail him too and see if he will update it for a "donation" from each of us..? Its Alexander at : [email protected]

Chris
try this....
Just load Smartskey. It gives you a lot of secondary functions for soft keys and buttons. I really like it because it has default settings to open the start menu on a long press of the left softkey button, and to do an ok/close on a long press of the right softkey button. It can also manage OMAPClock overclocking functions, if you drop a copy of that app in the same folder as Smartskey.

Remapping Wireless manager to hardware buttons - It works

I have managed to create a short cut of the wrlsmgr.exe (in windows) to program files and suceeded to remap it to a button (using AE Button Plus) or you can use the default remapping option in settings.
Do not forget to press the soft key "Done" upon leaving the settings.

Had been looking for this for a while... thx for sharing

OK and WIN button do not work

My OK and WIN button launch nothing anymore.
I have a TyTN and the OK and WIN button on the front side and on the external keyboard are like inactive.
How can I restore their default behavior ? where is it located in the registry ?

HAve you installed AEButtonPlus by any chance?
Yes, I install AEbutton. Is that the reason ?
I am going to uninstall it to try if I will have my OK and WIN button back.
I installed AEbutton for the copy/paste possibility that you can assign to a button (very useful), I will miss that, but I miss my 2 buttons even more.
I uninstalled AEButton, and made soft reset.
The OK and WIN buttons are still not working :-(
I have just installed ButtonMapper instead of AEButton, I now have the OK button working again !!
But the WIN button is still not working.
Anyone knows how I could get my WIN button working again ?
My OK button is fine, but my WIN button works intermittently. Sometimes it takes three or four presses to register and bring down the Start menu. In contrast, the WIN/OK combined button under the scroll wheel always works without fail. Annoying!

TBH, I'd uninstall button mapper, then run something like SKTools to clear all errant shortcuts and and notification queue entries. Then see where you go from there. Failing that, I'd recommend a hard reset.
bydandie, good idea I will have a look at sktools.
Do you know how does button handling work under the hood ?
what process is launched when I press a button ?
Good question....
I'm thinking a way to change my hard button links without installing a 3rd party software.
Is it possible modifying Registry?
Any other idea?

No, but I do know that in the past when I tried AEButtonplus, I got the same issues as you, but with an uninstall it cured it. It may be worth reinstalling AEButtonplus and then ensure within the app the the Win and OK buttons have nothing assigned to them.
I'm not sure what it calls, ,the codes look different from what is used by things such as the Soft-Key mapper

Normally the hard buttons can be found under HKLM/Software/Microsoft/Shell/Keys
There you will find a series of subkeys beginning with 40C
Each subkey correspond to a hard button. For instance on my ppc 40C1 is the calendar hard button. So try to find the subkeys related to Ok and Win buttons and change the default value by the path of the app you want to launch. By default, the hard buttons applications links can be found under
/Windows/AppButtons
Cheers,
.Fred
ps.: I don't have an OK and WIN buttons on my ppc, so maybe its different for these two...
Thanks for the information dotFred, I have had a look on the registry and in the windows folder.
You are right the linking between the application and the hard button is made here, but only for the configurable buttons that you can configure in WM5 settings/button. Unfortunately the TyTN's OK and WIN button on the front and on the side of the PocketPC are not included :-(
I'd also like a way to configure the function of the start button, and the side OK/start button. I have installed Smallmenu and would like those buttons to open it instead of opening the standard start menu.
Any ideas?
I noticed on my 8525 that when i put some programs onto my memory card it deactivated these two buttons as well. You might try uninstalling some recent programs. (the program that caused problems with me was an expired trial version of WA2 that i moved onto my card.)

Remap Start button

My Atom Life has a Windows/Start button that by default points to the start menu. I, however, do not use the start menu that much. As a result, I tried to use AE Button to change the start button to no avail. Detail as below:
When I use AE button to add button the first time, it shows 00FC. If I map anything to this code, it runs well but the start menu also pops up.
When I use AE button add button the second time (still pressing the start button), it shows 405B. Mapping anything to this button (like task, note, etc.) works perfectly, except that the other buttons mapped by AE button does not work (damn).
I tried almost every combination of binding/unbinding but to no avail.
Is there a way to do it? I would greatly appreciate your help. Thanks a ton.
I got it
I tried the only thing I have not tried. I used AE Button Plus in addition to Vito Buttonmapper 4.0
1. Bind 00FC to another function (e.g. Ok/close)
2. Unbind 405B
3. Use Vito Buttonmapper to remap other keys.
Is there another way? Cuz both these things are kinda expansive.

try PQzII, is free. it's intended for keyboard type devices but also work on non-keyboard type machine. I recently helped a friend to install it on his Atom Exec. Now, he use the win button to launch task manager (from PQzII) & the mail button for ok/close.
http://www.nicque.com/PQz/PQzII.htm
I tried but did not work Cannot find the start button in the list. Thanks anyway. At least you tried to help.

do you mean the button with the window logo that bring up the start menu? If yes, that would be "WIN" under the code list.

AE button OK remapping no work on today screen

I've finally find a software to remap the OK button, but..............
I'm wondering why AE button(2.5.2) OK remapping no work on today screen, works OK when a window is on the screen?
John
try 2.6 -
tried 2.6 and same problem on the TODAY screen button returns on default function, anyone found a solution?
So what function did you remap the ok button to? It works fine on my device.
I've set on the Trinity OK button :
one press > atlTab.exe (to switch from one application to another)
two press > rotate screen
tree press > tomtom navigator
but when I'm in the today screen (no application running) OK button return to it's original function (opens start menu).
John
how did you use the ok key in aebutton? did you add new button or use the built in button? (2.5.2 doesn't seem to have a built in ok / win key that you have room add yourself)
if you did an upgrade and preserved your old configuration, check it up for duplicated ok key may be a good idea.
You are right on 2.5, I had a custom button, but now upgrading it, I've found my configuration on the OK key.
I need to reset the 2.6 configuration, you know how?
John
